@Ceta de Cloyes Thank ye kindly. How many players are we shooting for before starting this? And will the RP be running a parallel storyline to the books, or will they end up intertwining? Also, do you intend on introducing new villains or something of the sort if we end up squaring off against the forces of Galbatorix at some point? I ask because one rider and a bunch of scattered rebels vs the Empire is sort of an uphill battle, but throw in x amount of players as riders too and then things get thrown off balance just a bit. Or maybe I'm totally wrong about all of this, but I'm still curious.

@BurningCold I'm fine with any number, the ones who've shown interest are certainly enough for me to start, but I'm fine with more additions.

The sudden appearance of more dragon riders is going to attract the attention from all the people that eragon attracted, so we're going to be intertwining with them quite heavily. If anyone wants to play one of those people (Murtagh, Eragon, Thorn, Saphira, Arya, Nasuada, Islanzadi, Brom, others..) then please pm me a short audition for the role. Just a short paragraph or two to prove a grasp of the character's reactions, traits, and motivations. If no one wants to play them I can fill the role myself, though that is a bit of a hefty load if people start splitting up.

Gallywix- I mean Galbatorix- is one badass OP SOB, but even he would be overwhelmed by so many new riders if they're allowed to grow. I have plans in place to even the odds however, both new additions to the enemies' ranks and Galbatorix himself. The king may have piddled about unconcerned with news of one lowly untrained rider parading about and gathering his enemies in one place where he can slaughter them all in one go, but with so many? Expect him to make a personal appearance instead of plotting in his palace.

Eeeeeeh, not really. Galbatorix was ludicrously OP. Like, actual omnipotent god-tier. With the "name of the ancient language" he could literally stop everyone from doing anything with a word. Magic just plain didn't work if he didn't want it to. I kind of think we should just quietly retcon that out. Make him uber powerful on a more normal level.

No, magic controlled by the ancient language didn't work. We now have possibly a small unit of dragons that could still turn him into diamond if he pissed them off enough, and one could still attempt to use spirits, non-verbal manipulation etc. =P

Yeah, but nonverbal isn't a known form of magic yet. IIRC Eragon discovers it throughout the course of his adventures(which is why Galby didn't know about it before). I suppose we could discover it first, and go about it that way buuuut I've always thought that was a bullshit kind of cop out anyway.

And even if there are ways around it(as there obviously were in the book for Eragon to win, oh, but he didn't even win the fight, he used the power of compassion and shit to make Galbatorix regret his actions), he can still use the name of names to disable our normal magic, and then use his own normal verbal magic to destroy us before we have a chance to use them. He's powerful enough without his god word, including it in forces us to deus ex machina our way to victory. Hell, that's what the author even had to do. He wrote himself into a corner with how unstoppable his villain was. A handful of green riders aren't going to be much more of a threat than a cadre of Elvish sorcerers. Probably less of one, to be honest.

I think the best thing to do is to say that his distraction with our new riders' presence keeps him from his research where he would otherwise eventually discover the name of names.

Nope, Oromis at the very least knew about it as fat as this says. But yeah I agree canon Galbatorix is too OP for this and his canon defeat did leave something to be desired on it's own :/

He missed that his head-mounting wall was missing Oromis and Glaedr, apparently he wasn't omniscient =D I'd say that it might have been for the same reason why he left Surda alone - he didn't consider them a threat.

Oh yeah, I read Brisingr years ago, and only recently finished off the series. But Inheritence I did in audiobook, so there's very likely things I just didn't catch when my attention lapsed.

It's also going to be the reason I may misspell some things.

Demund Eamon

Name: Demund Eamon

Though not towering, Demund is taller than most his age. His long hair is usually pulled back in a bandana and while technically brown, it is often mistaken for black. Toned arms and a light face usually darkened by smoke show his years at the forge, and his hazel eyes often never deviate from the task at hand.

Personality:
Demund is a man of few words. This isn’t to say he’s not friendly, but he chooses to focus more on his work than making friends. That being said, if anyone needs his help in anyway shape or form, he is more than willing to step up. You can expect to find him near any forge and anvil that happens to be nearby.

History:
The forge in Mashal has been run by the Eamon family for many years, each blacksmith greater than the last. This was especially true for Demund who began smithing since the day he could swing a hammer. His mother had sadly died during childbirth, thus he was raised and taught by his father whom he grew very close with. Day in and day out they would work with iron and steel to make all sorts of items for the townsfolk. Being the only smiths in town, Demund got to know everyone in Mashal as most metal work would have to be done by them.

Though he loved his father and knew he wanted him to take over the family forge when he was gone, Demund had a different dream. His love of smithing had grown to the point he wasn’t satisfied making simple things like nails and horseshoes forever. He wanted to hone his skill, learn under the best smiths of the dwarves and elves so that one day he could craft weapons and armor greater than any the world had known.

At first he tried to suppress his desire by buying any books or scrolls on techniques that happened to come through. When that failed he began experimenting different ways to make things, but with their limited supplies, it didn’t last long. Finally he decided to tell his father what he wanted for his future. The two had a long and stressful talk that night, but in the end his father knew he couldn’t force him to stay. They came to the agreement that as soon as his father found and trained a new apprentice to take over the forge, Demund would have his blessing to leave and begin his journeys. Until then, Demund works just as hard as before to keep his skills sharp.
