I thought about it, and saw that TMG's Thabossians were elf-like, but in the 'other humanoids' category. I think they could go there as well. Gwyllion and elves are "similar but different" in the way gnomes and dwarves are both short humanoids, but are distinct from each other.

A few years seems more reasonable than a few decades. Maybe four years? Most of that time is spent in the stalemate after the initial Order invasion, wherein the Order occupied the portions of Iorica north of Dalion, and Vyddru occupied both the city itself and the kingdom's countryside south of it.

Decades of "war" is nothing new in the middle ages.
Most warfare took place as sieges which are gigantic waiting games in general so a war lasting for decades doesn't seem really out of place to me.
Here's a list for 15th century European wars:

Generally when two major powers duked it out that rarely lasted for less than 10 years.
That's just my two cents on the matter, though.

Almost the entire length of this war is one siege, which wasn't even fully drawn out. It's ridiculous for it to have taken decades. Cities under siege are generally able to hold out for months, not years, and the man in charge of the besieged party gave up (marching his men beyond the walls to attack the siege party) well before it was necessary. Hell, it's feasible for the entire war to have occurred in the space of less than a single year. Even making it a few years long could be excessive.
