Well then, long range shot ahoy. I don't think we're right next to the Frost Mountain anyway, so I think I'd prefer to get in closer before cutting loose with magic, just to make sure I actually hit what I'm aiming at.

Okay, sorry to be a bitch, but...

Reno really stretched my disbelief to the breaking point. Not one page ago, http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/963/posts/ic?page=15#post-742311he had flattened a bunch of Heartless with a Megaflare and an Ultija[/url]. And now he launched another Megaflare.

Either Reno is really, really exhausted at this point, and will probably need to sit out any future combat for the rest of the day, or he's a walking nuclear arsenal, at which point I can only say this game is so fucking broken I don't see a point in playing anymore. The rest of the team are just Reno/Oner's cheerleaders as he uses heavy artillery to flatten everything but the bosses. And while the boss fights are exciting, it means we just sit around looking pretty 70% of the time.

Renose, I'm sorry if I sound like a whiny little git, but most of the challenge of a game is fighting enemies face-to-face, not watching people get blown up at range. The latter's nice when you're a superpower trying to prove a point to a bunch of backward terrorists, but it's no way to run an RP. It's great in a single player game like Skyrim or Final Fantasy, since game balance is not an issue. It is an issue, however, when several people are playing, and one guy basically eclipses the rest in raw power, rendering them as hanger-ons.

At this point, thanks to Oner/Reno's constant use of heavy firepower, I wouldn't be surprised if Heartless suddenly evolved magic immunity just to stay alive. God knows there's been plenty of stimulus to weed out the lazy ones who aren't trying to build up magic resistance.

It was only one attack, number one, and number two I know that even as powerful as it was that it couldn't destroy an entire cloud of heartless (like I said, small chunk possibly). It was also Ultiga is the only spell he actually used to attack the heartless, the Light Mega Flare is what he put into his Keyblade (to allow his attacks to be more effective by imbuing his sword with light essentially), Ultiga having essentially took out a bunch of his Mana and requiring him to fight with his magic imbued blade after that.

Not only that, but the Ultiga didn't flat out destroy the magic resistant heartless.

And yes, you are correct that Oner does get somewhat tired after firing off Ultiga (or Reno for Meteoga if he were to use that). which is why they will probably still stick to their lower tier counterparts Meteor (for Reno) or Ultima (for Oner) a little more often since those don't use as much energy or Mana (those two are not like the elemental spells they possess, for them it still matters which tier they use unlike the elemental ones).

And its fine that you are complaining, ill admit that Oner and Reno are a bit too powerful, but again this RP is mainly about story and plot rather than combat (that's just an assumption, ill let Bio determine whether or not I am wrong) and the fact that they are powerful mages actually promotes alot of plot points (like Thomas' jealousy and his slow descent into evil or perhaps the confusion that others have about them).

Don't worry, I have plenty of ways to balance them out and despite how powerful they seem they do have weaknesses of their own to balance out their ridiculous amounts of magical power (like Reno's lack of any physical strength or Oner's only offensive spells taking up most of his mana after two or three uses)

I must be going by a different definition of the Final Fantasy magic system if Meteo, Ultima, and Mega Flare are "Low level". Those were spells designed to wreck a lot of people's shit really badly, really fast. Not to mention you specifically said Oner's Mega Flare was as powerful as Neo Bahamut's Mega Flare.

And yes, I concede that this is a character roleplay and that battle is not as important as character interaction and storyline. It just loses a bit of its charm if a battle for the fate of the universe is reduced to one side being the Death Star and the other side having giant targets painted on them.

I know. And yea I regret saying that (I was tired at the time probably, I have been really tired recently). Regular Bahamhut's Mega Flare is more powerful than Oner's Light Mega Flare or Reno's Dark Mega Flare (plus Neo Bahamhut, which is their current summon, uses Giga Flare, which is something that shall be employed only if shit gets really bad since that can really wreck something).

Also in KH these higher level spells aren't as powerful as they were in FF mainly cause the combat is alot different, like Mana recharges for instance (which is why characters don't seem as tired after using big giant spells) and spells like Ultima or Meteo, while great on specific opponents, are really more meant for groups rather than single targets.

Actually, at least Mega Flare* is weaker in KH than in normal Final Fantasy, but Renose won't know that as he hasn't played the game where Mega Flare made its appearance.

To be fairer, though, we do use a hybrid of the KH and FF Magic systems, using the latter to fill in spells not yet in KH.
