@VitaVitaAR - Excellent news. I've posted her to the Characters tab.
  • Name: Sophia Topplepot.
  • Age: 14.
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance:Normal
  • Personality:

    Quiet. Calm. Stoic.

Her face is a mask of calm, her emotions hidden well behind it's perfect stillness. She is taciturn, ill inclined to speak and always deliberate with what words she chooses. Despite this she is never very harsh in her tone. She is soft spoken and though she can be caring it is hard for her not to come off as distant or closed off towards others.

Behind her mask she hides a great deal of pain. Her condition has left her wheelchair bound and with each passing month her body worsens leaving her less and less able. With the knowledge that, as most doctors she's seen have informed her, she is unlikely to live past eighteen her outlook has become rather grim. Despite her severe handicap however she uses her magic powers to help those in need and protect the innocent. She tends to look at the big picture and often considers the greater good but tries not to forget to do right by those close to her. Though selfless in her pursuit in helping mankind with her magic she pays just enough heed to herself to effectively support herself as she is a means to the bigger picture which is the good of all.

She is fairly studious as well, being well read with a particular eye towards the classics. She has a rich English verbiage which frequently bleeds into her day to day dialect. Due to her severe physical handicap her interests are often fairly insular and passive. She dislikes stress and hardship but is realistic enough to understand that unpleasantness sometimes cannot be avoided, only confronted.

Her determination to succeed in this Hex Night is strong as it presents one of the only opportunities she'll have of having her wish made reality. Given how long she's expected to live she doesn't see any realistic alternatives.
  • Skills: She's well studied and holds a decent trove of miscellaneous knowledge which leans heavily on history.
  • Brief Backstory:

Sophia was a sickly child from birth. As it turned out she possessed a genetic defect where her ribcage is too small for her organs. This is known as Thoracic Insufficiency Syndrome. This defect resulted in her ribcage putting pressure on her heart and lungs, leading to constant chest pains and shortness of breath. The weakness in her heart and breath left her enfeebled. She's been wheelchair bound from an early age and it hasn't improved with time.

A young girl in a wheelchair with an oxygen mask seemed like quite the odd candidate for magic powers indeed. Regardless she accepted her newfound gift and used it to combat the darkness formed from the negative emotions of mankind. She has battled the darkness for some time but with her worsening condition it seemed like she might not have much longer to do battle, her health declining with the steady passage of time. When she got word of this Hex Night taking place she set out from her home in Britain to Japan so she might reach for this grand prize.

At this point there was little for her to lose.

    • Magical Girl Appearance:Transformed One detail that differs from the image is that her irides are completely black in this form.
    • Concept: The Macabre.
    • Archetype: The Raven's Quill.
    • Abilities:

Sophia is a rather delicate summoner who's main forms of attack are swarms of shadow based ravens which mob her enemies with their sharp beaks and talons. The ravens are mostly intangible which makes them difficult to damage physically. As they are shadow based light based attacks disperse them the easiest. Other forms of magical attacks vary in their effectiveness against the ravens with physical attacks being the weakest method to use against them. A strong enough melee attack will disperse a raven that's struck but their bodies are fairly fluid, able to reshape quite easily after being struck by physical blows. In addition she can extend her sight through these ravens by closing her eyes and seeing through those of the shadow's own.

Her other power allows her to blend into the darkness allowing her to hide up a certain amount of mass from sight. The effectiveness of this concealment scales with the size and intensity of the shadow used. Perfect darkness allows for perfect concealment while a dim shadow only allows for partial concealment.

She does not possess access to her greatest abilities as she is unaware of her Archetype's nature.
Here is the complete CS.

@VitaVitaAR - I have a quick question: Should WIP's be posted to the OOC here or sent to you via PM for early review? The feelings on that differ from thread to thread so I'm just asking to be safe. I have my character mostly finished and I plan to finish her just as soon as I get some rest since my brain is screaming at me for sleep but I want to let it be known what I've written up for the sake of others.

Edit: I must rest for now so I'll leave this WIP here. There's not much left, just the appearance and a small section of the abilities. I'll have the rest up as early as I can when I wake.

Indeed. The dwarves have been the most adversely effected thus far.
@Kalas - I will note that the spire hasn't technically caused any deaths so far as everyone effected is technically still alive. They're just plants now.
I'll have an update on the plant spire event up once Duoya posts.

If this rp isn't full up already I may throw my hat in the ring and make a smol girl to suffer fight to make her dreams come true.

I'm pleased to announce we've officially hit two hundred posts!

I'm very proud of everyone involved for helping us reach this milestone. Let's keep at it and build this universe until it's enviable by even the most venerated of rp's!

In the meanwhile, have a tree! Take your pick! Thanks to the dragons there's all kinds of trees you can find now. They are a little big though.

Edit: Here's a glimpse at the Fate those who are exposed to too much divine plant power will suffer.
Despite the cold the trees did not seem to abate. They only grew and changed further and greater as they ascended, their trunks becoming thicker than the dragons themselves. The snow which blanketed the forest floor began to change into a carpet of long interwoven white vines. The snowflakes that flew upon the raging winds became soft white motes of pollen, carried along as the powerful storm served only to spread them far. To spite the cold itself the trees which still held green leaves started to transform, their leaves coiling up and becoming blankets of needles which shielded them from the biting winds of the cold storm.

The great tree itself had become a unique dichotomy of fire and ice. Large red maple leaves adorned the massive branches on one side while slender pale white leaves were formed across the other. It was a unique splendor onto itself which had absorbed the divine energies being thrown at it, making it it's own. Even still it continued growing.

_
Luckily for Hayim his friend was growing fast enough to keep up with the great tree's ascent. He lifted the not-so-little little god high up, his branch reaching far as he approached the sprawling network of massive branches which grew out from the rising top of the great tree's enormous trunk. With as much haste as the tree man could muster he set Hayim upon a branch close enough for him to reach, rescinding his branch the very moment Hayim stepped off lest he be entangled in the twisting growth of the tree's branches.

"Go now." The tree man imparted his words unto him as he retreated from the great tree's encompassing expanse.

"Go and... Free our people... Tame the tree." With that said Hayim was, for the most part, on his own.

Time was of the essence though. The branch which he stood upon was growing further away from the light which each passing second. Pretty much everywhere he could look all that could be seen from his position were vast networks of interlaced wood, fantastical leaves of many colors blanketing the gaps between the branches like a great curtain cast all around him.

In one space directly opposite from the light he could see a small gap in the branches where the world beyond was visible. Through it he could see not the lands below but rather a vast field of clouds. The tree's limbs had reached beyond them now, branches reaching as far as the upper stratosphere. They extended as far as the last vestiges of oxygen could still be had before curving width-wise to expand outwards rather than upwards.

_
What he couldn't see was that this expanse was not limited to the branches alone. The trunk to this great tree was now miles thick and it's roots reached far and wide. The lowest roots now touched upon the surface of the core itself, it's roots starting to grow around it since it was simply incapable of growing into it like it had for a majority of it's other obstacles. Many of the great chunks of earth that hadn't been transformed by the resident energy were either absorbed into the roots or simply broken apart by them if they were too large. Many deep lurking metals and precious gemstones were now entangled by roots, locked in the hard grasp of powerful wood.

The homes of the dwarves felt the shifts in great force as the mountain ranges began to rise, canted by the shifts in the earth brought upon by the massive roots of the great tree. It's canopy cast a shade upon the land which stretched further than even the storms of Drakairos could cover, blanketing the lands in a speckled twilight as anemic sunlight trickled through the gaps in it's leaves.

What the gods present were looking upon was no mere great tree anymore.

It was a world tree.
