Aptitude: 3 Aura: Gilded Tongue * Powers - Charmed Speak: Like the name this ability allows her to sweet talk others into doing what she wants or what she needs them too making it easier for things to go in whichever direction she wants it. Those with strong enough mental fortitude can easily break out of it once they notice they're under its effects. Easily influenced by her emotional state, there have been times when Angel is riled up that she has unintentionally charmed people and had to deal with the various consequences afterwards. - Barbed Words: The idiom words hurt never rang more true. This ability turns her words into psychic damage, the harsher the tone and the more anger behind them the more mental shock they can cause to the other person. Several people who have crossed her path on a bad day have found themselves curled up on the ground after the berating they received from her. She often finds herself drained, mentally fatigued and needing a nap. All of her mental energy having gone out of her in weaponized words. - Sonic Scream: Instead of her words being imbued with energy she focuses it all into her voice, each of her yells ladened with enough power to send them staggering backwards and those close enough end up dizzy and disoriented. A fairly new power she recently discovered, it leaves her without a voice for a day or two after its usage and her throat feels like its on fire every time she breathes so its often a last resort cost if she cant take her way out of it.

The halls were filled with chatter and laughter as the group of girls made their way through, a plethora of shopping bags tucked neatly into the crook of her arm; it was her 21st birthday and her friends insisted on taking her out shopping to celebrate before heading out for a grand night on the town. A small blessing that her birthday always coincided with summer holidays, there was never a need to plan around the school schedules and night classes that made it so hard for the group of friends to get together.
“So Angie, where are we going first? Are we inviting the boys?”
“I hope so! They always pay when she’s around, remember that one time they all fought over who would get the bill.”
Angel cringed both at the nickname she had desperately tried to discard and at her friends awe of being able to sweet talk her way into someone else’s wallet.
“It’s not that impressive.”
A poor attempt to brush it off, the slight grin on her face betraying the demure nature of her protests as she pushed past them, the jingling of keys heard as the apartment door unlocked and the four of them filtered their way into her small studio apartment. Ruth and Beth easily flopping down on to the couch, a shared comfortability existing between the trio as they continued talking about getting ready for tonight’s party.
After all you only turn 21 once.
——
The thrum of the bass and the flashing neon strobes breathed life into the club. The throng of people pulsed and moved to the music as if one large being. Nestled neatly on a stool by the bar Angela watched as her friends motioned for her to join them in the crowd, to get lost in the rhythm of the night. A tipsy giggle escaped her lip as she waved at them before motion the bar as to signal she was waiting for their drinks. Her red curls held back by shinny charms and a few hidden bobby-pins fought against their constraints as she turned her head to look back to the bartender. His deft hands and fluid motions formed their own dance, a swift wink from the man saw her blush and turn away quickly embarrassed she got caught staring as she looked down at her hands.
“What’s a pretty thing like you doing by yourself?”
The smell of alcohol hit her even in this setting as she looked up to see an older man had pushed his way too close to her, a leery grin on his face as he continued to talk motioning toward her birthday pin.
“Oh it’s your 21st! Happy birthday! Surely you’ll let me buy you a drink. You won’t be rude and say no? It’s a celebration after all!”
“She’s good thanks.”
Angel breathed a sigh of relief, the tension in her body lessening a young man around her she placed a comforting arm around her spinning her slightly so he was between her and the old man. A sneer crossed the drunk face, muttering something about kids not knowing their manners.
The following conversation was lost on her as the thumping of the bass and her own heartbeat flooded her ears, vaguely aware that everyone else had made their way over to her and the they had soon started to draw attention to themselves as the old man started to yell louder and Eric looked like he wanted to punch the man but held back not wanting to ruin her birthday.
Hushed murmurs and whispers from onlookers as the scene grew feed into the gnawing feeling in her chest.
“EVERYONE STOP!”
Her yell came out in a surprise, laced with enough magic for everyone around her to activate stop startled. Panicked she looked around not sure what she just did as the bartender placed a drink on the counter in front of her.
“Nicely done.”
The soft click seemed to stop time completely in place as he walked off leaving only the glass and a letter next to it. Shaking hands reached out quickly downing the drink before she settled on the letter. The alcohol and adrenaline making the words a blur only understand something about magic and a homeroom teacher before the room spun and she was gone.
—-
The crashing wave hit her violently waking her from her drunken state as she quickly scrambled to get off of the shore, bewildered as she looked around the memory of the letter coming back to her.
A magic school.
She would’ve have laughed if she hadn’t woken up in a strange place with a set of stairs leading into the sky. The tell tale signs of a hangover tugged at her mind but it was dwarfed by the sheer awe and confusion as she made her way to the stairs.
There was no way but forward after all.

The sound of wheels on concrete was her favorite, her left leg pushing off the ground to propel the skateboard forward as she coasted around the skate park. Music could be heard from the headphones around her neck as she went by.
It was a small park, it had a couple grid rails and a half pipe that had scene better days covered in graffiti but the inhabitants of the park didn’t seem to mind. A couple sat up top the pipe, dangling their feet over the edge tucked together watching a video. A girl on roller blades was practicing skating backwards, and had already taken a fall or two. A few younger kids were trying to learn a kick flip eagerly sharing one board and arguing over who would go next. A cocky grin crossed Noel’s face as she boarded past them hitting that same kick flip into a grind down the rail, the little gasp of awe and praise boosting her ego as she waved at them.
The early hours were quieter than the overpacked crowds of the afternoon, it gave her time to enjoy the morning and the tiny feeling of flying if she got enough speed up. The music in her ears changed to an alarm sound causing her to pull her phone out to mute it. With a small sigh she hope off the board picking it as she headed toward the entry gate. The oldest of four it was her job to get the youngest one to daycare before she went into her part time job at the coffee shop. The wheels quickly returned to the asphalt as she fully put on her headphones, weaving her way back home.
— “No-no, do that one move like the red ranger does! Where he goes Hyah!” She tried not to laugh as the three year old feel down in a poor attempt at a jump kick. Watching as he eagerly got up brushing himself off looking up at her expectantly with wide eyes on the walk to the daycare. “C’mon, you’re gonna be late and then I’m going to be late…again.” She teased wiping a few more grass clippings off his shirt before he quickly started to run ahead. Shaking her head she caught up quickly grabbing his hand, “You know the rules Alex, we have to hold hands when walking down the street. You’re too cute someone would definitely snatch you up.” Grinning she did just that before tickling the boy, tiny shrieks of glee escaping him as he tried to wiggle free yelling for her to stop it as he clung to her. Thankfully the daycare wasn’t far and his teacher was waiting outside to welcome all the kids in. A few of them saw her and called out wanting to run up to her before the teacher chided them to go inside turning to look at the approaching duo.
“You really should just get a job here, the kids love you after all.” The woman smiled as Alex was put down and ran to hug her leg. “Save me Ms. Carmine! She gonna get me again!” Alex said hiding behind his teacher. “That’s right so you better behave mister or I’ll know.” Noel winked at the other woman before waving good by turning to head toward the small cafe not even a block away. It was a good location and the owner was understanding on days she had to leave to pick him up early. Even though her parents said she didn’t need to work and should go to college instead she knew how expensive having five kids was so she opted to get a job instead to have her own money and lessen the burden on them. A floating letter caught her eye as she walked, it seemed to be carried on the wind but there wasn’t a breeze around, curious as if almost drawn to it she reached out to it eyes widening as it floated down into her hand. The wax seal seemed to glow and the paper looked old, flipping it over she almost dropped it seeing that it was addressed to her by name. Shaking but as if egged on by some mysterious force she opened it pulling out its contents.
