"If you have anything to discuss with me, I will presume it is urgent. You are not the sort to come wildly into the capital without any reason to do so."

Maria was a bit forward with her fellow knight, Sir Malakaus. This was not out of any sort of unfamiliarity. Though she had only met Malakaus a few times during his roams back to the capital, Maria knew that he was not the sort to sit idolly by. If he was back in the capital, there was either some serious business going on, or perhaps he was just on vacation with that squire of his.

...But considering the slight unease Maria detected from his statement. There might be something going on that Maria didn’t wish to delay.

‘Though if it is an important manner like I believe it would be, I ask if you would like to schedule a meeting later today? It would be a pleasure to discuss any matters with you.”

Any ordain from a fellow knight was surely something important. After all, the job of a knight was one of hard-work and determination, at least in Maria’s eyes, and Malakaus was the sort to have accomplished such feats that would register Maria to respect his ability at the very least. Though perhaps the same would not be true of him to Maria.

After all, Maria’s family was decorated not on the flowers of peace, but the roses of war.

“I hear you got a new squire, Sir Malakaus. Did she return to the capital with you?”

Grian seemed to be ignoring her statements. Maria was forgiving, but she didn’t trust the man after what he had done. Perhaps she still trusted him more than she should. A normal knight might have thrown Grian in the dungeon for presumed affiliation with a criminal and the assist of escape, but at the very least Maria would believe that Grian, for the time being, had good intents behind his actions. He had not directly attacked anyone yet, and Maria believed the individual to be crazy in the event they decided to cause trouble at the time being. A single knight like Maria was bad enough, but three knights was something that one should never wish to face.

Maria had noticed that her headquarters had been completely stuffed with odd individuals at this time. More so than before. A collection of fantastical individuals the likes of which must only be through the application of fate. Malakaus had recently returned from the capital. Tani was on patrol and happened upon the Iron Bell Headquarters. There was Chieko and Ryan, now with the addition of Eris that seemed almost otherworldly, and there was the sly Grian who seemed both skilled at the sword and skilled at his words.

For what purpose were these individuals brought together?

Perhaps this was a sign of prosperity. At least maria hoped for such. Though Maria was not alive during the time, in recent years instability in the kingdom erupted in one of the bloodiest conflicts in history, and it was completely possible that something akin to this would occur again.

For the time being Maria was simply glad that no one was harmed from either the thief or the spell. After all, Maria deeply cared for each and every person she could potentially protect. As a Knight, she had sworn her sword to her lord, but her true calling; higher than what would be possible for a single person, was to protect any and all she could protect. That was the purpose of her sword. Though many consider the sword to be a weapon to harm, Maria’s father always told her to protect those with her sword rather than to intend to harm.

“Thank you, Lady Tani. Even if you had come late, I still appreciate your contributions. If there is anything you need as well, I would not hesitate to assist.”

Maria genuinely cared for her allies, and Lady Tani was someone she considered to at the very least to be friendly, which was a nudge above a simple ally in her eyes.

“Though I will attempt to heed your concern as to the group of individuals I have decided to train. After all, if my father was able to train someone like me into a highly skilled swordsman and knight, at the very least I could try to return the kindness on these good-hearted individuals, crazy as that might sound. I am sure you know how it might feel to want to join the knights, but I am not so easy as to give them a free pass. Free-er than your little bout I would imagine though. Perhaps I am a bit crazy, but I feel a degree of potential from these individuals.” .

With a bit light chuckle, Maria moved on to the next individual who wished her attention: one Miss Eris.

It had appeared that Miss Eris had drawn an image of the assailant, which was lucky for Maria since she was not able to get hide or tail of the infiltrator. A lucky circumstance that would give her the advantage in learning who wished to obtain rights to any evidence.

“I must thank you Miss Eris. With your drawing, I am sure we are closer to finding out who this person is. Though I had not provided you with much, you were able to give me something that could lead to an arrest. I must commend you.”

Maria examined the image that Miss Eris had drawn in an attempt to identify the perpetrator. Though no real names came to mind, at the very least she knew the man was, in fact, a man, who was a demihuman from what appeared to be of the “Neko” variant. With a drawing like this, assuming it was correct, Maria could likely track down this thief and eventually see him safe behind bars.

“As for an occupation, I will say that your skills as an artist are rather superb. Perhaps you could utilize your skill to sell to the nobility. Luxury goods seem to sell well in places like Gusteko. I could also arrange a potential job within the confines of the marketplaces, though I am not sure how glamorous that would be and a sure waste of talent with the brush. I’d even be willing to give you employment as a poster manager for the city knights, if you think you have the skill for such a job. I could also impart some self-defence to you as well if you are interested, or even simple learning could get you a position as a scribe.”

Sir Malakaus seemed a bit busy discussing a few matters with the potential knights. Maria thought to but in the conversation as well, but decided to see what either of them had to say about his statements.
So what's happening so far ?

Oh yeah im pretty sure the gm and I decided your character is pretty okay. I mean at the very least i thought it was fun and you have my stamp of approval.

Edit: The character reminds me of a d&d character my friend made who thought they were a dragonkin as a human and even wore a dragon suit onesy
The trip was cancel completely btw.

Oh where were you going? Travelling is fun~.
The general idea is that my character would've been in Lugunica for a longer time then most of the other player, about a year and 1/2. This is similar to another character in the show/light novel, that I won't spoil the identity of in case you want to go unspoiled on. To make this character on a more even playing field, I plan on writing it so the character is more or less a hermit due to his inexperience in clearing the game and getting out and not wanting to deal with Return by Death. As a result, while he has magic, it is relatively weak, which comes down to fire for pretty much just cooking and keep light. While he will have info on certain aspects of the world, how much so I will leave up to you. And in that way, I wish for you to also consider him a good catalyst to get an ideas you want for the world laid out or even an alternate explanatory source if you need. Even then, I have no intentions of having this knowledge be meta or OP by any means without absolute permission by you. In fact, for the most part, his knowledge would be ironically lacking as a result of his hermit lifestyle(outside of hunting and occasionally going to towns for supplies) and having a general forgetful mindset. Outside, however, one item he almost always has on his person being a decent footnote of certain things he felt he needed to know(though most of it is just personal writings in an effort to not forget where he came from and generally stay sane). It isn't gonna be a deus ex machine of info, but it might have some helpful info here and there.

I mean I dont see anything wrong with it. Could be funny if he misinterprets certain nuances in the world, making him sorta an unreliable narrator, while getting the basics across.

Go for it.
Hey, I've been thinking about joining this rp, but theres an idea I've had in mind for my character that I just wanna get approval on beforehand.

see

Go oooooonnnnn

Aye, it's nothing new, but at least it shows there's some flexibility. And that is what is most important for rping I'd say.

You can do some funky things with magic if you think about the application of uses. Roswell is someone you'd want to study about that though, considering he bends every single rule.
Oh btw for all of you people still thinknig that Yin is a nausea inducing curse attack (which it is not) let me quote offical sources about Shamak:

"The target becomes unable to sense where they are, however they can still feel the ground and sense what's happening to their body"

It also lets out smoke screen, which was mentioned for Ur Shamak:

"Ur Shamak covers the area in darkness like Shamak except the opponent can't tell anything while under its effect, such as where they are sitting or standing. Those affected by it can be snapped out of its effects"

Now if you execuse me, I need some time to swear as I keep seeing all the stupid things about random big ass fog clouds and everybody throwing up cause they have extremely weak guts. Thank you.

it is curse like, which I implied. Builds in the body similar to a curse. Not a curse. Curse-like, which is how it is described as. Curses are completely different in terms of mechanics.

Tbh the AoE thing might come from the author's description in the web novels of Subaru's Shamak, which is the only one that has really had any outer perception upon it, which is a bloom of smog, and pucks & Beatrice's use of the spell of Subaru for the feeling. Since Subaru is a bit unreliable just based on the way his gate works, I can only really work on the author's descriptions of his ability in the novella for the appearance, and when your senses are fucked with it can cause nausea as seen in the novella [and I believe they had a display in the show as well when Puck uses the ability on subaru].

It appeared that some sort of detachment branch of knights was to assist in the current debacle that had occurred within the Iron Bell fortress-like HQ. Though Maria wished it to only be an internal conflict. To get other knights into this debacle would be something Maria would prefer not to do.

The situation from an outsider’s perspective looked grim, however, it had just concluded. Though Maria was the only person able to really act in a manner that would have brought the two suspects into potential custody, she had acted in the way that would preserve the most lives.

“A knight’s duty isn’t to fighting against the enemies of the kingdom, but to protect each and every citizen to the best of your ability.”

...

“The sword is to protect, not to hurt. But know that you are a servant of the state, and one day they may call upon you to perform your duty”

Maria’s father had told her something like that a long time ago when Maria first seemed interested in the sword. At the time, Maria didn’t really understand what her father was saying, but after a long amount of time of consideration and understanding, she had realized what the sword’s purpose was to her. The sword was a tool to protect all those she could protect. Her body was the shield of the kingdom, protecting all that she could. Though a tad bit idealistic, Maria would at the very least protect what her hands could currently grasp.

At the same time, Maria was someone who believed criminals should be punished. But if it is a contest between protecting her fellow man and capturing someone, it was very likely she would want to pick the one that saves lives.

After all, that is what a “hero” would do. A “hero” of a great war.

However, to see a familiar face was something that she didn’t really mind. To see two familiar faces was something to relish in the fact. Maria was someone to enjoy the company of her fellow knights. After all, she respected those who take their time to learn the sword.

“Greetings, Lady Tani and Sir Malakeus,” Maria greeted her two fellow knights. Of course, Maria had nothing but the highest respect for those who would take up the sword for the kingdom. After all, how could one not respect the bulwark of protection against the Demon Beasts that plague the land and imperialist thoughts of others?

“Though the current situation may seem bad, no one was injured thanks to my actions. Though the perpetrators of the actions might have escaped, I placed more value on the knights in my order and the guests in my manor. Though regrettable that these individuals had made their escape, I cannot say I do not believe my actions were worth preserving my fellow man.”

Maria was merely being honest with the pair.

“A man I had invited might have affiliation with a thief who attempted to access the Knight’s evidence room in an attempt to steal something within. Perhaps a crime recently had involved someone who would rather certain evidence be trampled and burned, or perhaps it was a bit more benign than that. Either way, I am afraid I have failed as a knight for my inability to secure any possible leads.”

There was also the issue of the girl on her back. Maria believed herself to have placed her down earlier. Perhaps it was a miscalculation on her part or perhaps the writer is just dumb. Probably the latter. Maria placed the girl down, as per her request.

“I am sorry Miss Eris for any of what you had experienced today, on behalf of the Iron Bell Knights. No civilians should be involved in affairs like this. If there is anything I can do for you to make up for what had happened, please inform me, and I will try my best to fulfill your expectations.”

Maria was someone who believed that those who had experienced something bad should be rewarded in the very least. Simple things could be done to rectify the situation at hand. To provide someone she knew not about with something simple would be the best choice of action the representative of the iron bell could provide.

“As for the … uh .. incident, worry not. I am not as petty to sully the name of a lady,” Maria told Eris in a way that others around her could not hear the conversation between the two.

Maria was then confronted by Grian, whom of which she seemed a bit peeved at for his actions. The flash powder might not have done as he had said it had done, her room mostly in tact for the time being, The flash seemed to have been for the purpose of disorientating opponents. Luckily for Maria, she had come out unharmed.

Shamak, however, was a curse like magic, even at low ranks that causes disorientation of an area. For those inexperienced to the effects of magics, even a normal shamak could cause vomiting or vomiting. Maria was just glad that no one was injured during the spell. At higher ranks, it is not unusual to cause insanity, but even at lower ranks the spell can cause death if the affected begin to fight one another in the smog.

Maria placed her hands behind her back in a cross-like fashion to the demihuman Grian, studied him for a bit, then proceeded to speak.

“Though I will admit this branch is understaffed, I will state that I do not trust your words. There exists nothing in the evidence room that would increase the magic of an individual. It just so happened you utilized a spell on inexperienced individuals. As for your second offer, though our branch does require assistance, I cannot say that I can really trust you after what you had did. I wished to chase the thief that had entered the area, and you seemed to have prevented me from accomplishing my goal. Surely you can understand my hesitation to trust such an individual. However, for the time being I will begrudgingly accept your offer.”
I think I'm dying in the streets. yfw sick af.

I'll try and get a post out by the night. Sorry for any delays.
