Still in this, but not 100% sure what I want out of my character atm. So far all I have on him is that he's an old man who smokes :/
...
I will say though that I'm not a fan of forced provisions of decklists. I'd rather actually be surprised by whatever hidden tech a player may want to chuck into their character's deck. I might be able to run through a few cards I was thinking of giving my char, and I can easily list what each of the customs does (I have them all in my head, but I haven't written any down yet), but I'd have no idea how much of each card I'd want at any point of time.
Name: Ezekiel Gosling Age: 16 Gender: Male Rank: Private
At first glance, Ezekiel looks a little young for someone who one would allow as a part of the Gallian Militia. He is only 160cm (5' 3") tall and weighs 59kg (130lbs). He has big, beady brown eyes and messy brown hair that is a little long on a male, reaching down to about the nape of his neck. Ezekiel wears plates of armor on his uniform that appear metallic for the most part. There are visible strips of blue, yellow, green and magenta along these plates, and the plates that cover the backs of his hands look to be more magenta in particular.
Complementary to his more-than-innocent appearance, Ezekiel comes off as a happy-go-lucky character, brimming with joy and enthusiasm and having zero cares in the world. He believes himself to be a pretty cool customer, and can potentially come off as overconfident because of that. While he's not afraid to brag about any one single achievement that he's had though, Ezekiel is equally more than happy to back up his bold claims to all the skeptics out there... which he manages to accomplish most of the time. Ezekiel is ever the optimist, always looking on the bright side of things, and staying positive even when something goes awry. What can kill this optimism are very few and far between.
However, Ezekiel actually proves to be somewhat clueless on occasion. It's good to see that he knows how to handle his equipment at the very least, but his naivete shows in his shallow understanding of war as a whole. Perhaps if he realized that there was more to it than just killing enemies and keeping himself alive, Ezekiel wouldn't have signed on to be a part of the militia so hastily. In any case, Ezekiel is here to prove his worth as a soldier first and foremost, and he has to grow up a little more in order to accomplish that, then so be it.
Ezekiel Gosling grew up in an orphanage for most of his life. His father, Solomon Gosling, was shot during the First Europan War, leaving his mother, a heterochromatic-eyed Darcsen by the name of Theodosia, to go through her pregnancy with Ezekiel alone. Thankfully, no complications had occured during labor, and Theodosia was able to hold Ezekiel for a brief moment and remarked how much he resembled seeming content. Theodosia did not want to relinquish custody of Ezekiel but, fearing for the both of their safety upon being together, had placed her baby son under the trusted care of her best friend, who happened to run the orphanage that Ezekiel would ultimately grow up in. It was probably a good thing that Ezekiel lacked any obvious signs of his partial Darcsen blood, as between that and the orphaned childrens' general lack of awareness, it saved him from being bullied to no end. In truth, Ezekiel actually proved to be one of the more popular kids at said orphanage. Although he'd sometimes get into trouble with the lady in charge, he felt at home being among the cool kids.
At the age of 12, Ezekiel learned more about his father Solomon from an aged gentleman, just as he chanced upon the grave of the fallen soldier in question through a casual stroll through the cemetery. Apparently Solomon owed his alligence to the Atlantic Federation at first, but defected to the Principality of Gallia after saving a "peculiar female Darcsen" from being hunted by some of the Federation's men. The aged gentleman had used Theodosia's features to describe the appearance of the supposed damsel in distress, and due to the wealth of information, Ezekiel was instantly able recall Theodosia as his mother. Since his defection, Solomon had served Gallia as a valued sniper during the First Europan War, but was assassinated at camp by one of the men who he saved Theodosia from. The assassin had cleverly disguised himself in Imperial uniform, preventing the Gallian officials from successfully establishing any link to the Federation. Although he was evidently dismayed about the soldier's death, hearing the aged gentleman's story had ultimately inspired Ezekiel to be just like his father Solomon. Flash forward four years, and imagine his surprise when he'd see his chance to shine.
Incidentally, Ezekiel's friends had dared him to try and sign up for the militia, not expecting him to be accepted due to how young he still looked at the time. Not being one to back down from a challenge, Ezekiel confidently strode up to a couple officials and requested to be a part of the militia. Naturally they didn't let him sign up so easily, but he stated that he could handle a gun... and stated it way too confidently for them to turn down. He wasn't wrong; when he and his friends chanced upon an old cache of weapons that would've been used in the First Europan War the year before, Ezekiel was the first to pick up a rifle and take it for a test run and, to the amazement of the friends, happened to be a rather good shot with it. Part of that had to be natural talent that was passed down by Solomon. Realizing the kid's talent with a rifle and seemingly impressed, the officials readily gave Ezekiel the paperwork he'd need to read through and sign. Although Ezekiel was tempted to gloat about his acceptance and rub it in the friends' faces, he decided he'd best keep it a secret from everyone. After all, who knew how the other orphanage goers would react to something as contraversial as being drafted into the militia or accepted as a volunteer?

Proudly wearing his recently obtained Gallian Militia Uniform, Ezekiel Gosling had made his way into what looked to be an open market area that was considerably out of town. There were plenty of guns and explosives on display, ranging from rifles to machine guns to grenades, and even anti-tank lances. A grizzly man could be seen working on a vehicle radiator out back, while Ezekiel browsed through the rifles to see what took his fancy. The man had a burn scar down a part of his right arm that seemed to originate from the hand, and his right eye had clouded over, leaving it nothing more than a white husk. He appeared to be completely bald up top but, judging by the color of very fine fragments of facial hair enveloping his cheeks, jawline and above his upper lip, he could be identifiable as Darcsen. The man looked up to see Ezekiel still eyeing up several sniper rifles.
"We don't make a habit of selling weapons to kids, y'know," he stated, pausing to size the young man before him up down, "So what, you thought you could borrow someone else's uniform just so someone would hand you a free rifle or something?"
"Well... ya see, I might have just signed up to the militia yesterday," Ezekiel casually replied to the Darcsen as he was still looking through, "And they might have actually let me through,"
"Tch, seriously?" the Darcsen queried, shaking his head in his refusal to believe what he just heard, "I hope you know what you're in for."
"Hey; I can handle a gun, alright?" Ezekiel finally turned to the grizzly man as he said this, "What more could they possibly want from me?"
Of course, the man could've easily given Ezekiel a few pointers if he felt like it, but the heavy sigh he gave indicated that he couldn't really be bothered. Instead, he returned his attention to the radiator he was working on.
"Alright fine. Pick something, pay for it and leave," he said as he worked, "I don't want you coming back for a refund."
Ezekiel resumed his browsing in relative peace. He lifted one of the rifles off its bracket in order to get a feel for it, noting that this particular one felt significant heavier than what he was used to. The Darcsen looked up momentarily as Ezekiel examined the rifle, one of the newer ATR-X1's that had recently come into stock.
"I'd give that one a pass if I were you," he advised, "It's inaccurate as fuck, and you look like you could use something a lil' lighter,"
"Oh yeah? Why'd you even sell it if it's so hard to use, huh?" Ezekiel asked out curiousity. In turn, the man set his tools down.
"Pass it here, kiddo," he replied with a smirk, "I'll show you what it can do..."
I did the bulk of the app a few days ago, but the RP sample proved to be a pain in the ass. I kinda left it on a cliff-hanger for now, but I can extend on that if I really need to. Though are there any red flags with the app itself? I'd rather try and fix any of them first.
Oh, and in case you're still doing that thing where you check to see if people read the OP, my favorite Squad 7 char is Welkin. The Edelwiess comes through very often in the harder missions, and even when he's deployed as a scout, Welkin holds his own relatively well :]
Ah, you must be talking about the two ATR's. I forgot they existed for a second there, mostly because I don't recall ever getting a hold of them in-game, and it had been a while since I played the game itself. If not for that, I probably would've tried to go for a Gautt or the ZM SGAT (and was legit debating on the two), but I guess I can give the ATR a whirl and see how I like it.
I was actually thinking a similar thing in regards to how my char would actually handle a tank; ideally he'd aim to pick the crew members off one by one, and then sneak around the back of the tank in order to get at the exposed radiator, which he'd have to hit in order to inflict meaningful damage to the tank itself, before anyone else can climb back into it and salvage it/use it against the squad again.
OK, cool. I'll start working on my character right now.
I'm thinking of giving him an anti-tank rifle to beat down enemy tanks with, as well possibly a pistol so he can actually intercept other enemies with assuming they move in range. Would either of these additions be OK? I know they're a thing in VCs 2 & 3, but from first glance at the OP, this seems more or less based on the original VC. Hence why I'm asking :/
Highly interested. I don't usually join RPs that have started their IC Threads or are well and truly into theirs, but I'm a huge fan of the Valkyria Chronicles franchise and I always wanted to partake in such an RP.
...
What's your stance on Valkyrur, if you don't mind me asking? Although I would've liked the chance to play as one, I'm more asking out of curiosity; I'm well versed with how powerful they're meant to be, and as such, I completely understand if you'd rather they not be involved, OR if all the slots you were ever going to allocate to Valkyrur had already been taken.
I'd like to play as a Sniper regardless. I'll be sure to read through the OP and the Characters Section as I develop my potential character more.
Still working on my character. I'll probably spend today and tomorrow trying to make the app look presentable and such, as well as the next day if I need to.
Technically it does have a hard OPT clause, though I guess I stuffed it up by saying "activate" instead of "use" like I was meant to. Hence why it might not be recognized as such. Must be me being tired, I didn't even see that until you mentioned something :/
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Guardian Summoned, and cannot be Summoned by other ways. You can Guardian Summon this card by banishing 1 Level 6 LIGHT Zombie-type monster from your Graveyard, in addition to Zombie-type Normal Monsters in your Graveyard whose total Levels equal exactly 6, while you have 2000 LP or less. You cannot Summon or Set other monsters during the turn you Guardian Summon this card. Cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects. When this card declares an attack target: You can banish 1 card your opponent controls until the End Phase, and if you do, inflict 800 damage to your opponent. You can only use this effect of "The Pharaoh's Last Resort: Khufu the Unbound" once per turn.
Came up with a new main effect, and cut down on the stats as requested. This should be monumentally fairer; hopefully it becomes a better card for it.
@GarlandDaHero I dunno about putting Khufu's DEF to 0. While it's true that it fits the Zombie flavor better, it'd be way too rewarding for the opponent once they manage to force it into Defense Position (difficulty aside ofc; this is a walking Solemn Judgment we're talking about after all). This is especially true if they have a Piercer handy. That said, I might put Khufu's DEF at 2500. It's not that hard to run over from a competitive standpoint these days, but it'll still require a strong monster on the field regardless.
As for the suggested ATK drop, could I potentially meet you half-way, and put Khufu's ATK either at 4k or somewhere near it? I'd been meaning to weaken the Solemn Judgment effect anyway, which I can easily do as a potential condition, but wasn't sure how to go about it without ruining the whole feel of it. I have MSE open rn, so I can make edits as I need to.
