Sorry Love! I just moved back to uni, and it's been pretty hectic for a first week back!

Would you like to begin this? We can keep on planning and implementing as we go along ^^! Also, I think characters on both ships would be grand! It'll keep things interesting and keep us interacting with one another. What do you think about making characters for the templar-like group?

Yeah, the last couple days I couldn't get on the site at all, though it seems fixed now.Subs seem to work even better than they did on the old site. At this rate RPG is looking to be quite fancy once it is finished.

I think Mahz is giving this place a total makeover. A good makeover I might add. Everything's so streamlined compared to the guild, and it's not even done yet!

Authorized Official Physical Description: Stands at 5’9”. Operative has brown hair with deep, rich brown eyes. Her skin is a slight copper tone. She has minor scarring from combat across her right shoulder. Also, her left eye is a cybernetic implant, for during combat, a bullet gazed the affected area, whch required her to necessitated a replacement. She is outfitted with an Alliance Synthesis Armor.

Biography: Sophia was born into a lower-middle class family. She, along with her parents, worked to sustain their way of life. Though the news always spoke of the new era of peace where prosperity, she never felt the fruits of this so called ‘golden era’. The advancements since the Reapers did nothing but bury the lower class into a plummeting state of depression from her point of view.

Though her parent’s salaries were pathetic small, they were still able to afford Sophia’s private school where education where she took advantage of everything the institution had to offer. Though she lacked the side to understand the abstract, she excelled with number and science. Her aptitude in physics and mathematics excelled so much for a child that the Alliance, unbeknownst to her, began to track her.

As her years in school came to an end, an Alliance representative offered her a way to not only pay for her continuing studies in engineering but also support her family. She took the offer in an instant and signed with the Alliance. Again, she consumed their knowledge with furious vigor. She also showed prowess in combat, which only strengthened her standing within the Alliance.

When Basic and S.A.E.C. (Speciality Alliance Engineering Course) was completed, she received her assignment to the 116th whom were stationed on an outer Sol colony. By reports, it wasn’t marked as a high threat target. She maintained the colony defense system’s framework. When she wasn’t attending to her duties, her unit drilled for an attack that seemed non-existent. When Sophia gave up on expecting something exciting to happen, hell finally broke loss on the colony.

A massive slaver fleet began to bombard the surface. Normally, the defense cannons would have reduced the attackers to mere space dust and debris. But what the slavers lacked in combat ingenuity, they made up with overwhelming numbers. With the turrets engulfed in fire, nothing stood in the way from the invaders from landing planet side.

Since the colony wasn’t marked as a priority, the Alliance had seen fit to only assign the 116st, which consisted of fifty Alliance personnel. As the fight progressed into the third day, the 116st had retreated to the docks where they made their last stand, so the slavers wouldn’t breach the inner colony where the colonists sought refuge.

Thinking quickly, Silversten quickly made for the automated defense turret controls. Because their commanding officer had a hot, round in the center of his head, she assumed command be it correct or not. Though her orders meant the death of her and the 116st, it was a decision which had to be done. The remaining Marines absorb incoming fire and cover her as she worked the defense turret mainframe.

When the turrets came back online, the 116st was finished — save for one survivor. The turrets made short work of the slavers, but wasn’t quick enough to activate to save the corpses of the 116st.

Silversten awoke weeks later onboard the ASV (Alliance Service Vehicle) Iverson within the med bay. She was reunited with the same representative that had recruited her back on Earth. It was here, when she lied on a operating table, that she received her formal invitation to be inducted into the N7 program.

She accepted and committed to the program in lasting memories of those who passed away from her decision. Her motivation to push through the hellish training was that of her dead comrades of the 116st. Because of their sacrifice, they were able to save the colony and give her another chance to redeem their names through the code of war.

Upon graduating from N7, she was met by another representative — not Alliance. He offered her a place in Echelon, a shadow group, and would only give her information if she said yes. He went on to tell her that she’d receive addition training in combat, cybernetic, and engineering warfare. She’d also be declared dead to everyone and her existence would end and a new one would begin.

Without reflecting on what her parents would think, she said yes.

Any other notables: Though she has committed to live a new life, she has somehow kept a family photo that she hides on her and shows to no one.

Writing Sample

It was the third day of the siege of Yuno, and the wave of slavers seemed endless. It was a mixed bunch, the slavers. There were turians, batarians, and salarians. If this were any other occasion, this gathering would have no doubt won the diversity award in Sophia’s opinion.

Out of the fifty 116th that were stationed, a little over twenty remained. Sophia crouched over a terminal as her fingers danced across the keyboard. Readouts from her omnitool fed directly to her helmets visor. She frowned. There was no way a remote access could break into the ground defense system. One had to go straight to the main controller, which happened to be in the line of fire. A suicide mission

As she continued to prod the network, she heard a body slam against the wall next to her. “Reinforcements aren’t going to make it.” It was Lance Corporal Davis. He checked his heat sink before popping over the rubble cover and firing off a few rounds before ducking back. “We can’t stay here. Shit, we already lost three more today.”

Davis was right. Ever since their commanding officer took one to the head, Sophia had assumed command. It would have gone to gunny, but he couldn’t be located.

She looked to the main conduit pillar, which stood by the inner colony’s main bulkhead doors. The inner colony was created to shield Yuno’s colonists from the planet’s harsh cold. Every second week of the month, the surface temperature dropped to the negative hundreds. The solution was the neatly erected half-spherical dome. Anything caught outside when the frost dropped would turn into an icicle in seconds.

“I need to get to that pillar,” she said finally. “Andrews programmed the controls so no outside invaders could bypass the firewalls.”

Davis surveyed the surroundings. “There’s no cover between you and enemy fire,” he said. “You could try an energy shield, but it sure as hell won’t hold long. Covering fire’s a pretty shit idea too. Hate to admit it, but the slavers have the high ground. All we can dish out are crack shots and prayers”

“They’ll eventually pick us off if we hold this position.”

“Which was your idea to fortify.”

It took a large amount of restraint for Sophia not to pull rank. At the time, it was the most logical place to hold up. Spreading the units already stretched numbers in the outer colony was too inefficient, too many holes they couldn’t keep in check. When she chose this checkpoint, she forgot about the higher towers. Should have blown those things to hell before they fell back. She paid for the mistake now.

Pushing the terminal away, she snuggled her gloved hands around her rifle. She had since removed her helmet as she stared at the cloudy afternoon sky. The chill bit her cheeks. The frost was coming.

“Back when I was at the academy, I had this instructor. Real pain in the ass,” she said. “Out of everything he taught me, I remember the dumbest thing. Whenever we drilled or underwent engineering speciality tracks, he always asked us, ‘Are you worthy’?”

If Davis was out of his black tinted helmet, Sophia swore he’d be arching one of his furry black eyebrows.

“You’re not going crazy on us, Corporal?”

Sophia shook her head chuckling. “I’m many things, Davis. Crazy isn’t one of them,” she said. “Here we are, in a situation which not many will probably ever encounter within the Sol system. Victory above all. We’d be shaming the very oath we swore into service.”

The two shared a look of absolute silence. Within the unspoken, as enemy fire continued to rain upon them, an agreement was struck.

“Corporal,” Davis said as he checked his heat sink clip. “You need to get to that pillar, and the 116th have the solution. We’ll draw those towers to us — hell even those untrained ‘riflemen’ out there. I’ll see if we have any full shields. Me and the boys will hold down the fort. You’ll have a runner.”

“No. We need all hands at the barrier. Just give me a—“

“You know it won’t hold.”

Though she wanted to argue and find another solution, there just wasn’t enough time. In the time she could spend arguing, the worser off her team would be. She gave Davis a ‘are you sure’ stare. He nodded.

Reaching for her helmet, she fastened it to the rest of her black armor as it re-synced with the suits internal systems. Her personal shield readout and various other meters popped up to the side. “116th,” she said as she toggled team speak. She paused for a moment before continuing. “The only way out of this is reactivating the ground defense systems. The only way to do that is getting to the conduit. I’ll move to activate the defense grid, and the rest of you will provide covering fire. I need a volunteer.”

“PFC Decasta, volunteering ma’am.”

“On me,” she said. “Good luck to the rest of you. I’m counting on all of you to watch my six.”

“Shit, Adams, I’ll watch your six any day.”

A round of laughter erupted on the radio as more comments were exchanged.

“Eyes above sea level, Mickey.”

“Even better.”

Sophia shook her head as Decasta appeared next to her holding a shield. Davis had already moved off as the remnants of the unit prepared. When everything was set, Sophia gave the go as she sprinted off.

Weapon’s fire punctured the air around her as she could feel the force rush by all around her. Decasta followed at a safe distance behind. The sound of Alliance rifles answered the slavers as Sophia slid into the base of the conduit. She began working immediately.

Hacking itself was no hard task. Anyone at home could learn to do it. The difficulty rested in breaking through an Alliance firewall and reconfiguring from FALSE to TRUE within said program. Chief Engineer Andrews was a legend at creating ‘boogies’ in his program. That’s what made him so proprietary to the Alliance. The only reason why he was here was because of the new systems. Only the higher engineers knew the nuts and bolts of it. Sophia knew only how to maintain it.

“Almost there!” she said as she heard Decasta return fire from his shield. Moments later, she heard a thump behind her. Another death.

The screen showed a series of numbers and code as it soon gave way to a network. She already removed the safeties from the cannons as they were ran the reboot sequence. They were going to make it.

Suddenly, an error flashed across the screen. Sophia swore loudly as she fought to correct the error. Though she could feel bullets pelt into the surface all around her — some even hitting her shields — she continued to work. There was something warm seeping down her back, but that wasn’t important. The turrets were.

As her fingers smashed into the keyboard, the error began to disappear as the acknowledgment of activation flashed across the screen. Confirming the status, she grabbed her rifle and made to move to cover. She hadn’t taken more than two steps before something hot pierced her left eye; her vision became a dark blood red.

Victory above all she thought as she fell into darkness before she slamming against the cool, pocketed metal ground.

Not the finished product, since I'm going to do an in-depth writing sample, but something so that I can be considered in the meantime.One point in regards to the "spartan" debate. Well, 2 points, from my perspective as an experienced roleplayer. I know this is my first post in the thread, but if I'm going to participate in this roleplay at all, than I want to have this out there.1) If something causes so much controversy that it's generating posts by the minute, it's a bad idea. That simple. The concept might be sound, but if people have a giant slew of problems with what you're trying to do with said concept on half a dozen different levels, it is not good for the roleplay. Take a hint that people have a problem with what you're trying to do, accept that you might not be able to do exactly that in the roleplay (or, if you've offended someone, apologize to them personally), and 2) going back and forth in the OOC, one person saying "that isn't right" followed by the other person saying "but it is for this that and this" followed by the other person saying "that isn't right" is not the correct way to approach Crap like that is why I prefer to GM my own roleplays in the first place (although, that in itself is an entirely different discussion) - so I can tell someone to "get out" if they try to tell me how they're going to do it when they have't fully explained it to themselves yet. Explain it as clearly and concisely as you can on a SINGLE occasion, one post. If that presents problems, take it up with the GM in private messages until you can work out the kinks. It doesn't matter how nice it is, if it's so much of an issue that it's clogging up the OOC thread, it should be avoided entirely to begin with.My CS is incoming. Give me another 45 minutes to finish it, format it, post it.

Happy to have you Prometheus, and all the points you've brought up are valid. Admittedly, the reason why this back and forth started was due to what I said earlier. Perhaps clearer language on my part will prevent this in the future.

Second question: if you are asking if you can edit it to add whatever I'll eventually add to the CS, the answer is of course. If you're asking if you can edit it as in finish it yourself (just to make sure I'm clear, since it could be interpreted either way), the answer is no, thank you.

Under absolutely no circumstances will another player edit another player's character. I want to make this absolutely clear right now. From what I've seen from the CS PM Silver sent me, I don't think she's changed too much of anything, nor do I think she will.

A player's character is there own. If he or she chooses to ask for advice on what to write, then that's another matter altogether. I'm not sure if there's an option to edit someone's post outside of PM, but don't do the above. It's a tad disrespectful.

Of course, this is a general statement versus calling anyone in specific out.

I think I should mention something about the technology with regards to armor. Given that growth and various innovations could have potentially occurred within the rebuild, armor would no doubt look considerably different than that of the ME series. To that end, if folks would like to use armor concepts from Halo, select ones from Starcraft, and others, feel free to. If there's a considerable problem with the armor chosen, I will bring it to your attention.Hopefully this helps y'all out. I'll have my character up soon and a writing sample. If I'm asking everyone for a sample, I find it only fair that I provide one myself.

I think I may have found the central instigator of our current predicament.

As you can see from what I quoted, I did in fact say armor concepts can be used from other titles to account for current tech development. Unfortunately, this is where the misunderstanding occurred.

When I said armor concepts of other titles could be used, I was referring strictly to appearance. Because this is a Mass Effect roleplay versus a crossover, this universe will abide by Mass Effect constraints. What this means is anything that you could do or may have witnessed in any of the Mass Effect titles are absolutely fair game. However, if folks begin to pull in abilities from other titles, then I will flat out reject it.

This isn't meant to be a downer on your creativity. As Silver said, if I'm not mistaken, this is a ME roleplay first and foremost. What I meant to say was allowing non-ME armored appearances, not non - ME abilities.

Let me also address races now. After thinking about it, I think this just presents a plethora of problems. Because of that, I'm asking everyone to use only ME races. Sorry to folks who wanted to create one, but from where I'm standing, that's too great of an undertaking to implement.

To summarize my disgusting little spiel:

Using non - ME armor for appearance sake is okay. Anything other than that is not. Going forward, please keep this in mind: if it occurred in any of the ME titles, then it's golden. If not, then it's not golden.

I hate giving speeches like this because it makes me feel like a (insert that naughty word here). If there's a problem with anything I said or any uncertainty, feel free to talk to me. As a GM, I'm here to make this a fun and enjoyable story for all.

As I alluded to in my previous post, I will be posting a rule/expectation section on my initial post. To make this story work, everyone who is a part of this needs to abide by them to make this an enjoyable experience for all. Please look for this tomorrow. I'm moving back to uni, so I don't have time to type it up now. My sincerest apologies for that.
