Just to check, is that frozen watering hole on the ship, or just next to it? (It's the stairs down that make me think it might actually be on the shi)

Sorry! Yeah, you're right, it's so confusing now that I read it again, haha. Do you think if I had said 'artificial' it would make more sense? What I meant was, like... the ship's pool is made to look like a forest, all the trees and stuff are fake.

hey @anothered, my guy is flying in his Skarmory, would it be okay for them to dive and remove Ace from the Avalugg path?

Sure, if you like!

Yes, it's Ace. Probably should have made it clearer.

It's OK! No problemo. Kecleon is a chameleon that's why he can turn invisible. All except for the red zigzag on his chest.

Haze accepted! Welcome!

I noticed there aren't very many trainers, so I was planning on leaning heavily into filling that niche. The concept I have in mind is a champion-level trainer/breeder who's just barely getting into contests as a coordinator. He'll have some fairly untrained Pokémon that he's just recently adopted onto his team, rather than a full line-up of champion winners.

Is this too much? Though I planned on leaning into his ineptitude as a Coordinator as his motive for being on the Lugia - using this tournament as a chance to learn rather than compete - the main intent is to have him run around with NFE Pokémon and get mixed up in the ensuing shenanigans, woefully unprepared without access to his usual team.

Sure, whatever you like! You could even go around with a Garchomp earthquaking the place if you like, your choice, haha!
Ace began investigating the source of the crystalline frost, powdered snow cracking under his feet. The icey trail was leading him closer to what now sounded like the stomp of a large beast. The deck was seemingly deserted as he traced the edge of the ship, eventually arriving at an observation point that overlooked a vast pool resembling a forest swimming hole complete with trees and meandering rivers. Fog whisked over the surface of the water, Ace realized, "hm, it's frozen solid, it's not even Autumn yet."

Ace took set of stairs that curled down to the grotto. He felt a tingle in the back of his neck, without revealing his attention, he whispered to Kecleon, "take a look behind us." The red zigzag on his back leapt off and gripped up a wall. Kecleon spotted a trainer and his Alakazam, a pokemon of such high intelligence it was likely Kecleon had been noticed too.

At the bottom of the stairs, Ace eyed a waterfall connected to the pool. It was strangely unlike its surroundings. It looked like a mass of metal rods and large cogs. Was this a device? It seemed unusual to have a such a water feature in a verdant setting.

Without warning, the SS Lugia cried out in immense strain as its hull reverberated. Ace was knocked off his feet and tumbled to the ground. From within the trees, a rampaging Avalugg, disturbed by the mysterious explosion, charged towards Ace, crushing everything in its path like falling icicles.
Wow guys, haha - most people are in the restaurant. You can also go outside to the ship's deck and meet Ace, or set up something new. Don't worry about your character being left out.

Aku, who's the guy with the ghost type pokemon Dragupult saw? I'm not sure if it's Ace or not so I don't whether to reply to it.

Still some space for players, yeah?

Also, are we using pokes up to Gen 9 or just 8?

Yep, always open. Sure, you can use gen 9.
I know you mentioned being down with players adding plot beats, but I reckon I'd ask just for the sake of clarity; Is it cool if I add some detail to the first round of the contest?

Yeah! Of course. Can't wait.
@anothered Can Selena actually see those messages?

They're just random people's messages on a live stream. Maybe someone in her entourage is her social media intern and they're worried about public reception of her. Selena doesn't seem like the type to be reading random comments on the internet though. You can just think of the New Messages as a reminder that millions of people are watching.
The Lucky Catch disaster immedietly began trending online. Selena's table, cordoned off by velvet ropes was seemingly a serene bubble untouched by the restaurant's wrckage of broken chairs and tumbling ceiling plaster.

Garscon's mustache was trembling. Even a ridiculously powerful pokemon like The Lucky Catch's star waiter couldn't withstand the weight of an entire marble pillar by himself. He would surely be crushed if a kind stranger did not intervene.
It's alright, it's casual. I'm not judging anyone's posts. I like how the restaurant is in absolute chaos but she's just chilling, haha.

By the way everyone, with each of my posts, I'll usually give you guys something of intrigue to respond to or explore. So far,

Sugar and Garscon need help in The Lucky Catch.

Ace is outside with something icey and ominous.

You can choose which plot thread you find more interesting and meet either Sugar or Ace. ALSO, you can decide to introduce a new plot thread totally unrelated. Whatever you like! Just know, I'll always give you something to work with that propels the story.

Johnathan is accepted!

Everyone is welcome to post in the IC. I'm not gonna impose a post limit so don't get left behind!

Oh by the way, I'm just winging the storyline as I go so don't be afraid to add your own plot beats. I'm usually pretty good at GMing on the fly rather than super organized - so just throw your ideas into the IC and we'll see where we end up.
I'll join!
