Well, like I said, he's difficult to incorporate in the middle of an assault into a Cruxi base. Stupid options would be for him to appear as reinforcements or as a Cruxi test subject, but I honestly don't like either of those. The only sensible option would be for him to be back at homebase being smacked around by Dariya.

Hmm, seems like variable ammunition has become a popular trend. Well, that's fine. I usually don't like seeing recycled weapon systems, but the cruise missiles are entertaining enough to pass.

Here's the pilot's stats, add them to the sheet and then post the new sheets to the character tab.

I was thinking that there was a section of the base where humans were kept in cells, and that occasionally they would be brought to the lower levels, never to return. There would be a commotion due to the Framewerk assault, granting a chance to escape and meet up with them.
An alternative choice is that the prisoner's in a tube in the labs, and gets freed there.

There is a slight change in range when shooting diagonally, usually a space or so. In your given example, the range would be 5. A mech can either move one space and attack, or move two spaces without attacking, which is called dashing. Attacking twice is not possible, but attacking is improved when not moving. Then there's additional systems that circumvent these rules a bit, such as speed boosters and ATS.
