I am going off of my experience with playing planetary annihilation, but, moving celestial objects is just a matter of setting up the massive engines required to move it. I think FTL for these is sheer crazyness, if not impossible. But, attaching ship engines onto an asteroid and just programming it to fly on a set course doesn't seem out of the picture. It would look to be mainly a single system weapon, on able to attack targets within the same gravity well of the local sun. But, yes, defenses could be set up, but, even if you did manage to break up the comet/asteroid it would still rain down smaller fragments. Just a thought.

But accelerating an object to 70 percent of c doesn't happen instantly. However long it takes to get your rock up to ramming speed is time the defender can use to prep and intercept said rock.

Why do I feel dis izn't a good moment for entering the galactic scenery :/ ? Iz it the sprawling anarchy, or are the flying asteroids at fault?

It's mostly the dick-waving, the OOC arguments, Wilson's grude against Duck, Duck's powerplaying, and the 1-UPing that makes the RP so unattractive to new players.

The Rageconians and Darkwolf's Death Moon are the icing on the cake.
In this universe, an asteroid traveling at 70 percent of c can be defeated by placing a swarm of objects in its immediate trajectory; at those velocities, any object swarm will do--such as old iron ball bearings or worn out sneakers. FTL drives and FTL sensors would ensure that the defender would have a sizable amount of time to react in kind.

If Darkwolf just teleported a random [moon-sized] space rock out of nowhere and 'somehow' increased its velocity to 70 percent of c within one post, I'm calling utter bullshit on that.

And would you expect a massive fleet out there?

Considering FTL sensors are a must-have in this roleplay and the unusual frequency of wars has undoubtedly put every developed civilization on edge? Yes. 100+ mysterious blips that are each giving off electromagnetic signatures and mass readings that are normally affiliated with a spacecraft would undoubtedly reek of an impending attack.
Shouldn't be hard to detect the Draconians considering that they're discharging weapons and using overlapping passive scanning technology from 100+ starships.

The idea of hiding all of that bullshit is completely stupid.

Which crippled spacecraft? Sorry, I've gotten so wrapped up in all these plot threads.

The one that made contact with Rune.
@Keyguy The crippled spacecraft---do you have main characters aboard it? Typically vul'kruun response to potential xeno prey is to attack it, but I can't exactly do that if a plot-critical character is at risk. Unrealistic as hell, but perhaps the ship has an escape pod that your main character(s) could use?

Are you guys still accepting people?

I think so.

)But I am in great favor of a big peace conference where we're gonna discuss disarmement and such :D

Not going to happen with a naval superpower of such strength. Considering 26 supercarriers effectively guarantees maritime supremacy and therefore a monopoly on international trade (it was stated that the nation itself is a major financial hub), the Malassakian Republic wields enough political and martial power to ignore disarmament talks without consequence. Gunboat diplomacy will, undoubtedly, come into full effect. Without some sort of WMD-class weapon, there's no deterrent in existence that can suppress them.

Though, to be fair, this is a Dieselpunk RP. The firepower of ANY military is prolly going to exceed realistic expectations. And for that matter, you could always be a land-based nation (even a landlocked one) to avoid being forced into naval confrontations. That being said, I still stand by my suggestion that if a navy simply does not have enough people to crew and supply its ships, then the number of vessels is more or less irrelevant.

He has enough. Current US Navy active duty personnel is approximately 325,000; the 600,000 active duty count Boerd has listed is more or less legitimate.
