Quinn stares into the mirror, trying to come to terms with what they're seeing. It is them alright; their face, their eyes, their hair, just... smaller. Squatter, somehow. Their ears are ever so slightly pointed and they touch the tips, feeling them quiver under their fingers. What the hell... it definitely isn't prosthetics. They don't think prosthetics could actually make them smaller.
"Alright, so say we believe you," they mutter. "Why? What were you doing? Who are you?"
"Beg you pardon?" Reincarnation? This dude is insane... right? Or they're having a bad dream... Or this is actually some sort of afterlife...
But then why are they so small?
Looking properly now, scaling themselves against others in the room, it becomes clear that, yeah, they really are smaller. Did they become a child? Is that what the guy meant with reincarnating? Quinn frowns, scratching the back of their neck.
It's stupid. What's the first thing you learn when you start being allowed outside? Look both ways before crossing, left, right, and then left again for good measure. But when your neck hurts from poring over intricate metalwork all night, it's easy to push away the thought. It's late, they're just going to get some groceries, and the store is right across the street...
Time doesn't slow down, like movies would make you think. Everything goes very fast - stepping into the road, intending to cross, hearing the loud, blaring honking of a car unable to slow down, hearing a distant shout, bright light, pain, crash, so much pain-
Quinn thinks they're drifting for a while. Blackness surrounds them, a dark unforgiving void.
And then light. Cold, harsh stone beneath their knees, and distant voices that become clearer as they come to unconsciousness. They blink blearily against the light, pressing a small hand to their small face. "What... where the fuck am I and how much did I have to drink?"
RP is still coming. Planned launch date is now tomorrow.
I had... some kind of seizure, or panic attack, or something yesterday. I don't know exactly what it was. I lost control of my body completely, couldn't stand or hold anything, just thrashing around on the floor. It's not the first time. I don't know if it will impact my ability to write, so my priority is now getting the first post up and kicking things off for y'all.
dude, health comes first! that sounds awful and i hope you've recovered <3
Appearance: Lani is a tall girl, standing at 5'8 even without her heeled boots. She has dark skin and narrow, dark eyes. Her bright blue hair is in short twists, with longer loose strands hanging down her face. She likes to wear wide clothes and scarves - as she's from Alola, every temperature that isn't very high gets her cold immediately. She's often found disregarding dress code because of this. Lani also likes to wear heavy, heeled boots that get her up to a solid 6 foot in height.
Personality: Lani is a stubborn, headstrong girl that won't take no for an answer easily. If you first meet her, you might think of her as arrogant - truthfully, she's very insecure, but hides that behind an ice cold facade. Despite her stubbornness, she doesn't like it when people give in too quickly, and will often encourage others to do things that might not be good for them. If you do break through her shell, you'll find a loyal friend that will gladly face down an irate Charizard for you - though she'll be cursing at you for it the entire time.
Backstory: Lani was born on Akala Island in Alola. Her family were both trainers in their youth, and she was quickly raised with that same goal in mind. As such, she got her starter at 11, a fiery Litten that matched her temper. She traveled around Alola, taking on island challenges, though she never quite managed to do a full run. Instead, she started collecting Pokemon. Lani aimed to find every single Pokemon in Alola, but her plans came to an end rather violently when she was 16 and she got the call in that her father died in an overseas accident, the details of which were never fully revealed to her.
She went home to comfort her mother and take on some responsibilities in the house. For a long time, nothing happened in regards to her goals, and she ended up releasing most of her Pokemon because she felt bad for them. Finally, in desperation at seeing her daughter just mope about in the house, her mom sent Lani off to Paldea, enlisting her into the Academy. Lani resisted for a long time, but eventually gave in, under the condition that she be allowed to catch her own new starter Pokemon. After her Incineroar helped her catch a Jangmo-o, she left her previous friend behind to keep her mother company, and set sail for new lands.
Before heading for Papas Academy, Lani went off to add more members to her team. She decided to stick with a theme and ended up catching a Dreepy and a Cyclizar. Now with a Pokemon to ride, she headed for the Academy and got officially enrolled.
Pokémon:
Name: Lewis Species: Jangmo-o Personality: A proud little guy, Lewis likes to walk at the front of the pack, and always overestimates his own capabilities. This means he has lost more than one fight, but it just drives him to try harder.
Name: Mizza Species: Dreepy Personality: A bit more drawn back and shy, she usually hangs around draped across Lani's neck if she's out of her ball.
Name: Braze Species: Cyclizar Personality: Braze is a jolly little guy who likes to pull pranks on Lani by going the opposite direction of where she points him to. He loves adventure.
Quirks: - She has a tendency to start pulling at her hair when she gets nervous. - She has three holes in each ear. - She hasn't allowed Lewis out of his ball without strict supervision since the Murkrow incident.
