Name: Ethan Conrad
Age: 15
Element: Earth (Metal “Specialization”)
Personality: Ethan is a kind and honest kid who loves helping people out. A hands on kind of person who isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and get things done. Well, unless you need him to talk to someone. While very approachable himself, Ethan has a hard time approaching others. He always afraid he’s bothering someone or saying something wrong which usually leads to him getting nervous when starting a conversation with anyone, even familiar friends. This is even worse when faced with conflict. Ethan practically shuts down not talking, avoiding eye contact , and looking for the nearest exit. He knows he’ll have to stand up for himself one of these days, but that day is not today.
If someone were looking to find him, their best would be the lower levels as Ethan prefers enclosed spaces low or below ground level.
While Ethan has accepted being an Earth Elementalist, he still sees his lack of control over his metal abilities to be a hindrance.
History: Born and raised in the city, Ethan was the youngest in a family of four. His parents ran an auto shop where he and his sister would often help out at after school as they didn’t make enough after bills to hire anyone. Finances were the worries of adults, though. All Ethan needed to worry about was working hard, keeping his grades up, and staying out of trouble. All stuff he could easily handle. Then nature decided he had too good a grip on things and threw the ultimate wrench in his life, making him an elementalist.
At first even he didn’t realize he had powers. A few random rocks tumbling around, a sudden crack in the sidewalk, strange yes, but nothing crazy enough to tell him what he was. Then at age thirteen, after three years of ignoring and holding in his powers, Ethan did something that left him with no other explanation. While fitting a door on a car, Ethan dented the door with his hand. This wasn’t him hitting it or anything, he simply placed his hand on it, and the next thing he knew there was a perfect hand shaped dent pressed into the door. Knowing his parents would be furious, as not only did he damage merchandise but they didn’t look to kindly upon elementals, he quickly took a hammer to the door and banged out any resemblance it had to a hand. Better he get scolded or grounded than disowned.
It only got worse from there. His once simple life became a nightmare of hiding shaking screws and jumping on moving tools. He kept this up for nearly two years until one day someone noticed. As he was taking the keys from a customer, he accidentally threw them across the room without even touching them. Afraid he was going to be outed, Ethan nearly broke down in tears as the woman looked at him inquisitively. However, she simply asked if he had any control of his powers. He shook his head no, prompting the woman to reach into her purse and pull out a card with an address and the words “The Academy” written on it. She then pulled her keys back with a gust of wind and told him he should look into it.
That night, Ethan decided he was tired of hiding who he was. After packing his bags and leaving a note explaining everything, he found himself on the first bus to The Academy
