"Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance."-
James Baker -
Name: Andrew Colfer Brookmyre.
Nickname: Brooks.
Birth Date: 12/10/1997
Age: 18.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Homosexual
Relationship Status: Single
Occupation: Fully committed to performing.
Classification: Senior
Role: Performer
In Depth Appearance: Despite his boyish good looks and natural charm, all is not always perfect in Andrew's appearance. Often he looks like he only recently crawled out from under a pile of empty cans and bottles, hair hastily pushed back from his face and breathe fixed with half a pac of tic-tacs. Sure, when he wakes up in his own bed and has time to prepare to face the day properly, he comes out looking like the teenage dream that he is and any day there's a rehearsal or performance, he makes sure that's the way the day begins. Preparing for any form of music or dance begins with the gel you slick in in the morning and the clothes you painstakingly select for the day.
Of course, on any other day, there's only a 50% chance that Andrew even got home last night and, if he did, an even smaller chance that he was alone. So his appearance is very much a barometer for what he did last night, not that his enthusiasm or venomous wit ever leaves him, just the ability to style himself.

When he was young, Andrew discovered his talent at and passion for music and dance. He also realised a plan an simple fact; prepare properly and you will do well. So for every musical event he goes to, preparation begins in the wee hours of the morning and goes on until the last few moments before the performance begins. But where Andrew has taken that lesson utterly to heart in his art, he's never really learned it in any other medium. He doesn't prepare for tests, presentations or almost anything in his personal life, preferring to wait until the night before to do some half hearted research or planning and then wing it on his, admittedly not inconsiderable, brains and charm. He's lost more than a few boyfriends to this approach, as a date just doesn't feel the same when one's partner has clearly just dragged themselves out of bed and winces whenever anyone speaks.
Outside of his work, he's the stereotypical party boy. Up for anything, down with anyone and always, always ready to dance. Those close to him can sense that there's more to his ceaseless excess than simple lack of imagination but it's buried deep underneath layers of 'cool' and self image. In a way, parties are his second stage. Andrew throws himself into the role of wild child with as much dedication or more as any of his on stage performances but his motivations for it are all different. Where once they were the same (performing made him feel happy and alive, partying made him feel happy and alive) the two activities now have wildly different payoffs for him. Now, the latter is more about perpetuating a reputation he's allowed to build up around himself and a paradoxical but deep seated unease with permanence.
In short, Andrew is on the surface a pretty, playful party boy. But scratch deeper and he's even prettier, more playful but the party part is considerably less secure.
History: Born to a pair of career business professionals, below, Andrew had a very supportive childhood. When he expressed an interest in singing, he was given as many singing lessons as he could handle. When he said he liked the dancing in an old film, his parents sprang for dancing lessons too. And so it was that he grew with every second word sung and every half dozen steps danced, not to mention an attitude of 'you want it? Go get it!'. Though he learned through several botched performances that things were, perhaps, a little more complicated. One can't just charge towards a goal with good intentions and some natural talent, one must take the time to practise, perfect and prepare.
Things were going extremely well for the Brookmyre golden boy until he arrived at Beverly Hills High and tasted the High life, geddit, for the first time. The glamour of the party, the thrill of the drink, the joy of carnal pleasure and the ease with which he could grab the spotlight by dancing on the table. As much as he hid it his from his parents, his new
addiction party time detracted an awful lot of time from performing and wrecked any chance he had of fully realising his potential. Well, maybe as not as dramatic as that but at the very least it stopped him scrambling to the top of the heap of performers.
Richard BrookmyreGiving and doting, Richard was ever interested in his son's wellbeing and activities. But his work kept him occupied and travelling, meaning he could only lavish attention on his son in short, intense bursts. So now his relationship with his child is very cordial and friendly but lacks the deeper emotional ties he wishes it had.
Cynthia Brookmyre, née BoremerConsiderably less interested in Andrew than her husband, Cynthia has always been business first and family second. And it's worked in her favour in many fields; she's rose higher and higher in her professional life, attaining new promotions and pay rises almost weekly. But her family's affections have been less forthcoming, particularly from her distant son.
Extracurricular Activities: Andrew basically doesn't do anything outside of his rigorous schedule of dancing, singing and partying.
Extra: David Bowie - Lazarus. Frequently brilliant, often melancholy and slightly unsettling, David Bowie has long been a hero of mine and Lazarus was my favourite of his Swansong.
Anything Else: The path to his heart lies through three things; Abba, The Blues Brothers and ice cream.
