I'm super interested in keeping this going.
Cameron had asked the question expecting some sort of monologue on the joys and tragedies of being a sibling, but was pleasantly surprised by Izzy's nearly-monotoned and unexcited response. He hadn't even mentioned the sister by name, apparently didn't like her, and wasn't making eye contact. As far as Cameron bothered to care, all of that was perfect.

What about you? You seem like you'd fit the "big sister" bill." Cameron wondered how she had given off that impression. Maybe I'm similar to the mystery sister. I guess it doesn't matter, though. She hadn't decided whether she was going to be honest with this kid - er, her roommate - about her life before asking the question, and now she was feeling a little stumped. However, at the last second, she decided it would be better to not start of with a lot of things she'd have to remember.

"You think so? I've got an older brother, and there are some younger ones, too. Big family." In Johto, it seemed like most families had three children at the most, and her parents' hearty crew had never quite fit in among other families, and being in the Elm family hadn't helped matters. Things might be different in other regions, but Cameron hadn't been particularly interested in family dynamics during her travels. Actually, if her travels hadn't been forced to an unpleasant halt, she probably would have never seen her family again. There had been one benefit to returning home: she met her youngest brother for the first time. He was four, and the person in her family she related to the best at this point. That was actually kind of a depressing thought. It was definitely time to change the subject. This whole 'getting to know people' thing had become less and less comfortable for Cameron with each passing year, and family was definitely not a helpful topic.

"So, uh, I heard there are clubs here? Are you gonna join any?"

Quick interest check. I feel shitty for telling a bunch of people that they can't play when this hasn't even started yet. So reply with your interest or I'm going to scrap this thread and open up a new one for everyone thats been waiting patiently.

I'm still interested and hoping this, or something like it, gets rolling.
So we do... I never would've noticed.
When Izzy left for the bathroom, Cameron decided to unpack her suitcase. There wasn't terribly much to unpack - and everything important was in the messenger bag at her hip, anyway - but at least she would get something done in the empty time. She shrugged off her precious messenger bag onto the bed, and shoved her clothes somewhat haphazardly into the top two drawers of the dresser. When she finished, the top drawer no longer closed on account of the purple sleeves hanging out of it, and the second drawer held only her two uniforms for classes. It's not like it matters how I organize things. Cameron thought, as she tossed her notebooks and pens for class onto the top of the dresser.

All that remained to move into was the bottom drawer. "Chimes, let me know if you hear that kid coming back before I'm done." Carefully, she pulled a jewelry box the size of her fist from the bottom of her suitcase and set it in the center of the drawer. She looked over her shoulder nervously every few seconds, but still somehow managed to make progress. Beside it, she placed a framed photograph of her immediate family, face down, a small bottle of perfume, and a package wrapped in brown paper, which was a little bigger than the jewelry box. With a satisfied sigh, she pushed the bottom drawer shut. If only I could lock it, she thought, somewhat hesitant to leave her prized possessions in a dorm room. "Watch those for me, okay, Magnus? And Chimes, you've got company." She said, as she pushed the suitcase into the closet beside her favorite reptile. "Don't worry. I won't take up much more of your space," she told Chimes, patting her on the head.

Having accomplished everything she really had to do, Cameron flopped onto the bed beside Magnus. Shortly, Isaiah emerged and started asking her personal questions, like where she was from. Although sharing space was nothing new - just remembering the Team Plasma dormitories made this place seem like a castle! - having to get to know her roommate was a foreign experience. Cameron rather preferred to spend time with people who didn't put stock in the past, unless it was a great story, completely disconnected from how the past felt and the circumstances and choices that led up to the story. It was just better to keep the past separate from the present. But here was Izzy, and he wanted to know where she was from. Who really gives a shit? She asked herself, but after an inordinately long pause, she answered the question.

"I'm from Johto technically, but I'm really more of a nomad. I spent some time in Sinnoh, not too long ago. Maybe we have friends in common." By Arceus, she hoped not.

What other things do people who want to get to know each other ask?

"Do you, uh, have any siblings?"

Way to be awkward, Cameron. Way to be awkward. Sensing her hesitance, Chimes had begun to slither out of the closet and across the floor towards her trainer.

Got my post up. I feel like Izzy needs to socialize with the rest of you guys, but he really hasn't interacted with Cameron much yet, so I got that out of the way first. Maybe a lunchtime meet-up between a few characters?

So you work 3rd shift and I work 1st, so our schedules are PRECISELY OPPOSITE. Maybe we can do a collab tomorrow sometime so we don't have to span the "Cam and Izzy getting to know each other" bit over many days?

Either way, imma throw up a post before I sleep tonight. Aka... now... which is immediately before I sleep.
Cameron looked up from petting Magnus as Izzy knocked on the door and entered the room. "Hey, what's up?"

The boy in the room looked far different than she had expected. He was coated in dirt, smelled rather like he hadn't showered lately, and wasn't much taller than she was - if he was taller at all. She immediately noticed, and was somewhat annoyed by, his cheery grin. However, it was somewhat nice that he hadn't brought a mountain of stuff with him; the mediocre dorm furnishings filled the room sufficiently, in her opinion. I can't imagine what there is for him to be so perky about, she thought, but decided it would be best to figure out why later.

Even if it was an unreasonably happy boy, Cameron was sure that she could cause some skin to crawl back home when she wrote about her living situation, as though this were more of a miscreant situation than camping with wanted criminals.

Cameron walked across the room to Izzy in three steps and shook his hand, working up a congenial smile. I'm Cameron. I guess you can call me Cam, or whatever." Then, looking back over her shoulder, she motioned to the Pokemon behind her. "That's Magnus on the bed, and Chimes claimed the closet. They're with me. I guess we're roommates?"

As far as roommates go, he's not the worst of the draw. Still, I hope he showers.

Cameron glanced at the sheet of paper with her room assignment, and decided she would have to change it. She took a marker from her worn, grey messenger bag and crossed out the last name. Her grandfather's reputation had followed her to Team Plasma, but she did not intend for that trend to continue. Reading the sheet further, she discovered she was living on the first floor with a boy. That news was certain to thrill her parents, she thought, with a smirk.

Upon entering the first floor hallway, the first thing Cameron heard was a boy shouting, "DADDY'S HOME!" She couldn't see whoever it was, but expected that she would get to know whoever it was rather quickly. She dragged her single suitcase behind her, and wondered briefly whether the other students brought more to the academy. Regardless, she was confident that anything she needed wouldn't be too difficult to obtain, especially since she was encouraged to bring her pokemon to this academy.

What a weird place. This was something she had thought often in the weeks leading up to her departure. Sure, this was supposed to be a prestigious school, but who goes to trainer schools except ten-year-olds and people who have already failed in their pokemon journey? And since the academy was limited to older students, she wouldn't be training with ten-year-olds.

Finally, Cameron arrived at the door to room B. It looked rather sturdy, but Cameron was confident that she and her team wouldn't have too much difficulty breaking into it, or one like it, when the time came. Regardless, this time she decided to use the key she had been provided. She opened the door slowly, and spent a moment looking around from the doorway before entering. Immediately, she claimed the bed farther from the door, and flung her hefty suitcase up onto it. Then, she grabbed Chimes' and Magnus' pokeballs and let them out. The Seviper happily curled up in the closet, and Magnus, the Quilava, was quick to invite himself onto the bed. It's lame, Cameron thought, but I guess we can make it work.

Alysia was well accustomed to hooded, secretive individuals coming into the air nomad center in search of assistance. When the figure entered her little storefront, she immediately greeted him.

"Welcome! What can I help you with today?" He ignored her, apparently, and left an envelope on her desk before hustling out of the shop. She called after him, "Please! Sit down and we -" but he was already gone. The envelope was very intriguing, but she had a job to do. She slipped it into her desk's only drawer and locked it, but its strange and sudden arrival buzzed at the back of her mind as she went about her day. Frustrated by the distraction, Alysia sat on the floor with her legs crossed to meditate, but found that her mind quickly wandered back to the nondescript envelope awaiting her attention.

She placed a sign on the door that said she was closed for lunch, shut the door, and slowly opened the envelope. She immediately recognized the symbol of the Order of the White Lotus, and her hands trembled slightly as she read the letter. When she had finished reading, she shoved it back in its envelope, replaced it in the desk drawer, and locked the drawer again.

While Alysia was accustomed to strange requests and offers of favors, none had been quite like this one. An elderly gentleman offering his life savings so that his grandchild might be rescued was a very different sort of request, and typically made without an understanding of what motivated the air nomads. The Order of the White Lotus, however, was sure to be informed about her culture.

She sighed, and lifted the phone in the corner of her shop. It was the most valuable thing in the whole storefront, and stood out rather jarringly among the chairs which had been reupholstered and patched too many times to count and the rickety desk which seemed as though it might collapse at any moment under the weight of the short stack of papers atop it. She dialed the northern air temple and waited. A new initiate answered after a brief wait, and Alysia said,

"This is Alysia, the representative in Republic City. I need to speak to Milo right away, please. It's rather urgent."

After a long fifteen minutes of waiting, Milo picked up the phone, and Alysia explained the situation. Milo, though surprised, was much calmer than his protege. Eventually, the two decided that Alysia would attend the meeting, and report back immediately to determine whether she would participate.

With that settled, Alysia reopened the shop, knowing that a long night awaited her.
