Role in the Tribe: Scout/Tracker and Hunter/Fur Trader
Appearance
Standing roughly 5 foot 8 inches tall, not making him all that tall really. Broad shouldered, with a long boned and slim look to him. Of a young man who lives hunt to hunt day to day with enough to keep him going, but not enough to put excess weight o his frame. A head of black hair, long and tied into a thick powerful braid that trails down to just above his tail bone. A set of buckskin pants with grey dyed moccasins that lace up to about half way up his shin. His chest tends to be uncovered most of the time of if he has too he has a few pairs of vests. Some are heavier then others allowing him to withstanding heat or cold. Let's not forget the red skin of most Native tribes, which out to show he's not just any fellow on the trail.
History
Known long ago as Asiny or Mountain, in his youth, before being named Mistihkoman, grew up in a family and tribe to loving parents and a village of peple who cared and thought of him as their brother or relation. It takes a Village to raise a child and for the tribe he grew up in it's quite true. He had an extended family who were very helpful. It wouldn't be for a few more decade that people would try to take children like him away to residential schools. So he didn't have to worry about being taken away to be indoctrinated,
Young Asiny did not become Mistihkoman for many years. He first grew into his teens and began rites of passage and learning what his place in the tribe would be. There was a test where a young man or woman would be told to look at the stars of the Seven Sisters (The Pliaedes) and see how many he could see. And he said that day seven. It was said then that he would become a great scout for the village. And it was decided in earnest to train him in the ways of scouting and hunting so that his sense can be refined.
It was a long time, a decade atleast, before it was decided he had the skills and experience to joint he ranks of the scouts, hunters and traders of the tribe. He gained more experience going out hunting, and journeying to trading posts. He earned his name of Mistihkoman after he had earned the name in a skirmish between poachers.
Recently he said goodbye to his family and headed south, towards the Texas territory, hearing there still maybe some good hunting down there. And also to see new lands. New lands that were not Canada and Northern Montana.
Equipment
Sharps Rifle with 50 rounds, chambered .52 calibre Tomahawk, fighting knife with deer bone handle and a Rifle butt club Longbow, customized with beadwork and feathers, with 60 arrows Jerky for long voyages Seven pelts he picked up on his way down to Texas, three beaver, one coyote and three cougar
Okie dokie, let me know what you think. And if I need to edit anything.
Lex had parked the car, much to Wasteland's annoyance, between two warehouses along the port front. It was from there that the pair headed out and did the ranger thing, mingling with the people on the docks waiting for ships to come in or go out. They'd checked the Port Authority and seen several ships coming in, but many of them were cargo haulers or bulk cruisers. Only two were carrying passengers and one wasn't coming in until much much later, that left the one just offloading now to be their target. Or so Lex hoped.
The pair had gotten close to where the offloading ramp had come down. Close enough that Wasteland's lovely doggy senses can be put to use. Passengers began to file off one by one. Every one Lex would give the quiet direction to scent. And Wasteland with give a few huffs and snuffs, but made no motion to having matched the scent from earlier. In fact as more and more people filed off the boat Lex is getting worried. Was the intel wrong? No, there's no way in hell. Tseng worked with the Turks, the Turks worked for Rufus Shinra, no one who was in that line could be wrong right? Shinra isn't wrong. No way in hell. He's reaching for the walkie talkie on his belt that will get him in touch with the Ranger division handlers, and through them to Mr. Tseng.
As he's about to close his hand on the walkie, Wasteland lets out a low growl, and gets to her feet. Lex lowers his hand and kneels beside his partner looking along her field of vision. He saw it just as clearly as Wasteland did. Wutain, female, but doesn't have any resemblence to the source picture. He hums, then whispers, "Eyes on..." Wasteland giving a soft rup and begins to carefully trail the girl, staying in cover as the large bulked up canine watches the girl. Lex in the meantime reaches for the walkie talkie clicking the send button and says into it, "Ranger Krait for Mr. Tseng, relay now..." The handler on the other side soon responds, "Patched through. Send." Alexander speaks quick and clear, "Mr. Tseng, Ranger Krait, no joy on the primary target no scent and no show, but have eyes on another Wutian person, doesn't match the profile, Partner is watching her. I'm notifying intent to follow and observe. Request Quick Reaction Force made ready just in case I need to extract her." He waited to see if he'd get a response while watching Wasteland pace along just out of the girls line of sight.
So logged back into Discord to check the well Discord and realized I must have left the room when I was deleting a bunch of abandoned rooms earlier. Can we get a refresh of the invite? Please?@FalloutJack
It's an interesting thing being a Ranger. You could be trailing a suspected Shinra detractor one moment, and the next running down an Avalanche terrorist in the underplate workings. Other times it's alot of waiting and watching and cold stale coffee while on a stake out or boring intel. gathering. Or there are times like this, when you're pulled off a solo patrol of the more rugged slums of Midgar, trudging through some of the more seedier parts of the city, making sure none of the gangs or people down there are trying to create trouble for Shinra assets down in the Slums. As he'd been following Wasteland into a supposedly gang claimed area, his phone had rung. A Shinra Handler telling him to expect a helicopter extraction within moments. The big Shinra heli had landed in a clearing among the slum tenaments he was in. Soon he'd boarded up and off to Junon he had been taken.
Wasteland had been the first of the pair to hope down out of the helicopter. And promptly mark one of the rear wheels of the chopper before it lifted off after Alexander Krait, Shinra Ranger had stepped off as well. He chuckles, "Come on girl." He says but he doesn't get far as he sees the right hand of his immediate boss. Tseng, leader of the Turks. Lex takes a moment to look around to see if Rude or Reno are about, he's always liked the pair, they're great guys.
Soon though they are striding down the halls of Junon, Wasteland pacing at Lex's feet, sniffing as they go but staying close. And soon the room. As Tseng began to detail the situation, Wasteland made a lap around the room. Until a grunt and a motion brought her back to Lex's side. As the shoe is produced then the blodo pack. Lex knows it's not just his skills in tracking and intell gathering that are needed but his canine partners natural senses. This is a tracking mission that they both are needed for. He looks at the pair of items then back and looks at the picture. He brings out out own PDA, quickly tapping it to Tseng's, copying the image to his own. He looks at it on his own PDA briefly then blinks, "Wait...this man is a Cetra? An Ancient? What's an Ancient doing working for those Terrorists, Avanlance?" He narrows his eyes, "Never mind, that's not a problem for this mission." He nods and picks up the items, "We'll find him sir. Find, Track, Observe and Capture. Should be simple enough." He nods then turns away, "With your leave sir. We'll get started. Head on out, and get Wasteland a scent."
The pair walked back down the hall ways, picking their way past guardsmen, and skirting around a trio of SOLDIER Threes who were jabbering about something. Finally they are out, into the open, the front muster yard of the Junon base. Lex looks at the picture he copied from Tseng's cellphone, then pulls out the shoe first, taking it out of the bag. He looks to Wasteland, "Hup..." He calls, their command for attention. Wasteland gives him her immediate and full attention. Lex nods giving her a pat, "Alright? Scent..." Another command. Simple and to the point. Wasteland leaning forward to take in the scent, and also licks at the bloody shoe, getting a taste for it too. For a moment she huffs at the shoe, gaining as much as she can. Lex stands there waiting. Then with a ruff Wasteland lets him know she has the scent. He places the shoe away, "Alright." He looks around, and spots a Shinra long range recon jeep. He walks over and calls to one of the guards, "Keys for this? It's being requisitioned by the Ranger/Canine Division." One of the guards almost falls all over himself to cough up the keys, and soon with a huff from Wasteland and a roar of an engine they are off, this is how his mission begins. Driving down to the port, Mr. Tseng had said this target is arriving by boat, best place to start? Junon Port of course. Watch, Track and Capture. They can do that.
Standing a nice six feet tall, even no extra. Slim, tall and lanky, are some of the best words that can be used to describe this young man's build. But hidden under his clothing is a body built like an acrobat and runner. Smooth toned muscles on a strong frame. Built for speed and agility. A mane of red hair washes down his back, which put the hood of the Shinra Ranger outfit out of use. He's of a copper complexion naturally with a pair of dark near black eyes. Those eyes are always wide and bright ever watching the area about him.
His clothing takes a hint from the man who dreamt up the Canine/Ranger Division, originally a group of Shinra Specialists trained by Rufus Shinra himself. The Canine/Ranger Division was folded into the the guard forces when it became clear that they needed a long range specialist group like them. Rufus thus had put them in clothing similar to his own. That being billowy, open, almost dress like infact, buckles and straps to hold down the outfit as it can unzipped in areas to allow air flow and better movement. A hood for protection against the elements like rain and snow. It also helps that it is quite voluminious when open so it can hide the Ranger's equipment. In Alexander's case the outfit is a charcoal grey, dark and earthy in fact, with carbon fiber clasps and black straps, and silver zippers.
And finally to round out the ensemble is his dark blue skinned guard dog, named Wasteland, a bulked up powerful canine guard dog. All Canine/Ranger members have their canine partners, thought they form a close bond to work well on the field, they are not master and pet, more like a team of like minded individuals. Personalized commands between partners make it very hard for Canines to work with other Rangers. And the big dark blue skinned canine knows this full well, often wearing a hefty toothy grin as if to say how confident she is along side her partner. Gleaming golden eyes, and yellowed teeth round out the look for the powerful predator.
Personality:
Confidence, cockiness, coolness and composure. The Four Cs of the Ranger division. These typify the Ranger Division, and tends to be about what Lex manages to exude. He's confident in his training and in the Shinra way. Yes he's a little cocky, he trained under Rufus Shinra, his hero, in the very style that Rufus known for. A pair of guns, an attack dog and a cocky smile on his lips. He's somewhat cool under pressure, having already proved himself in combat once or twice, but he's not one hundred precent cool with it all quite yet. And composure, he tries to keep his in all situations, looking at the here and now and making ready for the coming events as best he can.
Lex also has a smile for everyone, believing that you should always be smiling. Wide and tall, or short and too the point, all depends on the situation. But it's his belief that you should always wear a smile, whether in trouble or in combat or just doing your day to day errands, a smile shows you are in control and can be a show of dominance over people who may do you harm.
Otherwise Lex is a strong minded, intellect ruled young man. His emotions do not rule his actions, his mind rule his actions. And he will do his level best to approach a situation with a clear mind.
His partner Wasteland is a calm and cool rock which Lex can adhere too. In combat she's active and careful. And knows her role well. Attentive to commands. She's also quite willing to try new things with her partner.
History:
Ah Midgar, home of the Shinra HQ, home of the many Plates of Midgar, thousands of people living and working and playing and dying in the great city. For many it's the only place they will ever know, because they never find a reason to go out beyond it's walls. Everything they need is in the city, it's where they live their lives. Perhaps they are beholden to Shinra, perhaps not, but Midgar is where it begins and ends for them. This is the same for the Krait family. For a few generations now they have been a Shinra family, his mother is a sales representative with the company, working to bring many more people into the Shinra sphere of influence. His father, a proud Mako engineer. These are the parents that bore one Alexander Krait.
Lex as he likes to be called by most, grew up in a busy family. His mother was always looking for the next sale, and brought her work home with her regularly. Often on the phone until the early hours. To Lex he thought that this was the epitome of diligence and hard work. His father, spent much time in Reactor Five, making sure the Mako flowed smoothly. Lex's father did his level best to avoid getting sick and to avoid unneeded contact with Mako so as not to loe any productivity. This ended up instilling in Lex a sense of duty and a need to continue to soldier on despite adversity. He put all these lessons into affect going to school where the young man was neither gifted nor subpar. He did his work, did it well, and showed a preference for math and the sciences. He particularly liked Physics, which he hoped one day to learn to break with the help of a Materia perhaps. He also had a thing for Materia sciences, finding the research and usage of materia just absolutely astounding and interesting. His formative years in school brought out a clever young man, which progressed into secondary school.
But then along his 15th year of life something tragic happened. A terrorist attack on Reactor Five caused a walkway his father was on to collapse, and dump him partially into the Mako below. That particular sect of Avalanche was eventually wiped out, and a package of gil and benefits was awarded his father while he recovered from a bout of Mako poisoning. He eventually did but it took a long time for him to be shunted back into full work at the Reactor. Lex was beset by a need to not quite avenge his father, but to do something to better the part of the people who are affected by their actions. His mother had to do put in hours of overtime while his father recovered. And this made Lex feel like he had to do something to it. So three years later, with his parents blessing, and fresh out of high school, Lex walked into a Shinra guard recruitment office, showed his endorsement letters from his parents, and applied to join the Shinra Guard program.
Now this is where things kind of dragged into monotany for a time. As the Guard program is a long and arduous process. And it started like any other, where the drill instructors would break a recruit down before rebuilding them back up into a proper Shinra Guard. And Lex was adamant to endure it all, being a guard he though would be the best way, by his judgement, to help the people and protect them from further attacks on their livelihoods. Obviously Lex is pro-Shinra, all the way, and he worked hard to become a part of the great machine that is Shinra Energy.
It was shortly after his graduation and induction into the trainee ranks, that he and his squad was put through the weapon training section. Where it would be decided which type of squad and role they would have when becoming a full guardsmen. What Lex and his squad didn't know that day was that there were a few big names watching this particular session. Namely Vice President Rufus Shinra, Tseng, the Leader of the Turks, and Chairman Heidegger, who was there mostly to show off his new recruits. As the tests went on and the trainees went through their paces, Rufus watched and grew interested in the budding marksman he saw in one red haired young trainee on the floor. It wasn't until Alexander landed six nearly flawless shots on his targets with a unscoped DMR that Rufus broke the silence...by walking out of the armored observation room, and striding across the floor to them. The click of heels and the snap of salutes greeted the vice president. Who paid no attention of the trainees except for Lex. Rufus talked about how he was rather impressed that a trainee fresh out of the program could land that many hits. And asked if Lex could do it again. Lex managed to land five near perfect hits the second time around. VP Shinra still looked impressed. And against all odds, Rufus Shinra took Lex under his personal observation. He would join a group that Rufus is putting together, a special forces unit, trained by him and the Turks, outside the immediate preview of the Public Safety Division.
So began the formation and training of Rufus Shinra's personal force. The Ranger/Canine Division. A group tasked to undertake special missions, under the eye of Rufus Shinra and the Turks alone. Long range or Long duration missions where the Ranger and their Canine partner would put terrorist and dissident elements out of action. They weren't SOLDIERs but they were almost as good. Ranger/Canine agents would work closely with the Turks and maybe occasionally with SOLDIERs, Lex even had the honor, during his training, to see Sephiroth, Angeal, Genesis and Zack Fair in action. It was said to show them what another Shinra Special Division could do.
Eventually Lex and his new partner Wasteland passed the tests, gained the right to go on missions, and gained his Ranger iconography. The one hundred person strong Ranger/Canine Division went into action finally. And Lex and Wasteland were sent on their first mission, get out there and make hell for Avalanche. Be ready for orders from the Turks and Rufus Shinra. It was open ended, but it's all there. He wouldn't let his bosses down, with all the trust they had put into getting the Division going.
He wouldn't let them down.
Weapon:
Chaos and Anarchy: A modified double barrel shotgun and a highly modified Whinchester lever action rifle. Chaos the shotgun has had the two barrels seperated by half an inch, allowing a laser sight to be mounted between the barrels. The barrels have also been modified again having rifling within to allow the fragmentation slugs it fires to be more accurate. The slugs themselves travel up too 50 feet before automatically fragmenting, they will also fragment upon impact into a cloud of shrapnel. Anarchy is a modified Winchester lever action carbine. A shortened barrel, changed up sights, and smoother action let the weapon be fired almost as fast as the trigger can be pulled, the only thing holding it back is the lever action.
Skills:
Of One Mind: Lex and Wasteland have worked together long enough that Lex rarely needs to give out verbal commands. Just the way he moves will give Wasteland an idea of what to do and she will act to support Lex.
Far or Near: Quick to change his fighting style depending on the distance, his shotgun and rifle allow for a good mix up of close and far combat. A perchant for the rather flashy martial arts that include throws and blistering kicks rounds out the style.
Coin shot: Taught to the Rangers by Rufus Shinra himself, the infamous Mythril Coin shot, a combination of magic, materia and skill. Firing a magically charged round through a mythril coin creates a beam of magicaly charged energy, like a magical bolt of plasma. Oh the powah! With two different guns there are actually two different effects, firing chaos causes a fragmentation effects that produces several small lances to fire towards the target. While using Anarchy produces a single concentrated and very powerful beam.
Equipment:
Shinra standard Issue smartphone/PDA
Ranger/Canine Division tuned walkie talkie
Rolls of Mythril coins
Company Gold Card (Never leave on a mission without it)
Calignious Bracelet (3 Materia Slots)
Materia:
Parry Materia = Guards against enemy attacks and allows the user to unleash their next attack faster.
Time Materia, Level 2 = Allows the use of Haste at level 1, Slow at Level 2 and Stop at Level 3
LIMIT BREAK:
The One-Two: Let's just think about this for a second. How can a Canine/Human team not have a combined limit break? When they've reached the point they can do so, Wasteland will dash forward, and latch onto an arm or a shoulder, taking the opponents attention away from Lex, who will then pull out no less then four coins. And fire four times, using the coins as a catalyst. The first two shots will always be from Chaos creating two blasts of the fragmented beams, then the last two shots will be from Anarchy producing two powerful beams that come in right behind the fragmented ones.
