With silent determination, Superman broke free of the robot's grip, completely shattering the frozen tendrils. The extreme pressure had taken a lot out of the Man of Steel, but he knew he had a job to finish. Superman propelled himself upwards through the air, bursting through the clouds. He felt the direct light of the sun, as every cell in his body absorbed its radiation. Superman closed his eyes, bathing in the restorative light.

The people of Metropolis looked up as the clouds began to part. A brilliant ray of light cut through the sky as the hero emerged.

"This ends. Now."
Aquaman grasped his Trident in a firm, two handed grip, ran to the edge of the building and leapt once more through the air, straight for the robot. His aim was magnificent, headed straight for the socket were the remaining tentacles emerged from the robotic torso. The King of Atlantis released a fierce battle cry, and at the last possible second thrust his Trident deep into the bed of tangled tendrils.

Superman had always felt some manner of kinship with the Atlantean. Arthur Curry, much like Clark himself, was a child of two worlds. Although Arthur had been raised on the surface world by a human father, his mother was an Atlantean Queen. Clark imagined that Arthur had experienced many of the same hardships as he had growing up, when his powers began to manifest. However, Clark also knew that while the planet Krypton had long since been destroyed, the Kingdom of Atlantis still lived. Aquaman had become something Superman would never be: the bridge between two peoples. Aquaman was often mocked and disrespected by the people of the surface world, yet he still fought to defend them. Arthur's ability to look past this, and find the good in humanity worth saving was something Clark found worthy of the utmost admiration and respect.

Superman could feel the robot's grip loosen as Aquaman twisted his trident in the tangled web of tendrils. As he struggled to free himself, Clark looked upwards and saw the Bat-Plane flying overhead. The jet swooped past, firing a pair of missiles that froze the metallic tentacles on impact. Batman was quite unlike both Superman and Aquaman, in that he was a human being. However, he was as much a superhero as any member of the Justice League, and he was unquestionably worthy of standing among the pantheon in the Watchtower. To Clark, the Dark Knight was the personification of the good in humanity that he and Aquaman fought so hard for. He was the embodiment of the unyielding human spirit. Superman and Batman were worlds apart in many ways, but at their core they shared the same tenacious desire for justice.
Jetpacks often have a limited range, I remember playing Star Wars Shadows of the Empire on my N64 back in the day and you could only fly with the jetpack for a short time. So it was useful for Madison to slow her decent and glide down to the ground, and it could still be used to float from airbag to airbag and she makes her way towards the monster. However, planting the hacking arrow likely won't do any good because the technology is alien, so Ollie's tech won't be able to recognize or identify it. It still makes sense to try though.

Here's the plan. Thanks to your collective efforts, Superman is going to break free. Then Vita should make her post and have Madison carry out Green Arrow's scheme. Then one of the more physically powerful characters like Superman, Aquaman or Shifter can make a post and finish the robot off. Remember, this is just a taste of things to come. Now that Green Lantern has arrived on the scene she can use her ring to scan the dismantled robot and identify where the alien tech came from. For reference, it comes from the planet Colu, which is Brainiac's homeworld. Superman is going to consult the hologram of Jor-El for more information on Brainiac.

And to MrDidact, feel free to post a CS. If you want to play Wonder Woman I'll PM some of my plans for the future, since they're tied to that character.

The thermal arrow will target the ones you have...I have my resources

Once you fire that arrow, I'm going to have Superman break free andfinish the robot off. Don't worry though, soon things are about to get lot worse for the League.
I'm definitely interested in this, and I have a character that would work perfectly in the realistic superhero world you're trying to create.

I'll be creeping this thread, can't wait to see where this goes.

So yeah, having trouble coming up with a good intro. ^^; Hmmm......I don't know how much it will help, but would it be okay for Eilidh to have at least some knowledge of what Brainiac is, since she's a member of the Corps? Nothing more substantial than "there's this weird alien thing and whenever it lands on planets they tend to vanish" or something like that, but I thought out of everyone she'd probably have the most knowledge and/or experience with specifically extraterrestrial threats. I hope that makes sense.

You could have her off in space dealing with something, then her ring alerts her to a crisis happening on Earth. And yes, the Green Lantern ring would be able to scan and identify to robot's technology and find out where it came from. I was actually counting on the fact that your character would be able to provide that information to the rest of the League.

I was actually all New 52-related stuff when I wrote up Eilidh, honestly. ^^; Since... Not a fan of it at all.

In terms of quality, the New 52 is hit or miss, but I think that's definitely the case with Marvel as well, and with DC before the relaunch. I like the New 52 mainly because of what it did for comics as a medium. It gave people a chance to get into the DC Universe, and attracted a lot of new readers.

OK, since I'm brainstorming...

Good or bad idea?

Take it up with our resident Bat-Family, it's their call.
A sonic boom echoed through the City of Tomorrow, as the Man of Steel charged through the air towards his foe. With his heightened hearing, Superman could detect the gravelly sound of Batman's voice, emanating from the black jet nearby.

"Whatever it is, sensors can't get a read on it and the missiles don't scratch it so that rules out most tech from Apokolips and most of the other cataloged extra-terrestrials..."

Batman was right, the robot's technology was certainly not of the Earth, and it was nothing the Justice League had encountered before. This was something new. Superman did find it curious however, that the robot had not launched an attack against the city. It was clearly capable of destruction, but had only attacked when the news chopper had flown in too close. Why was the robot here? Had it really come because of Superman himself?

Superman heard another voice, this time coming over the Justice League communicator, "Aquaman is on scene. Any idea of what we're dealing with yet? Batman? Superman?"

"Let me get a closer look."

The Bat-Plane fired an energy beam at the robot's arm, and Superman followed it up with a blast of his heat vision. The crimson red lasers seared the robot's armor, stunning it momentarily as Superman rushed forward and struck it with a devastating punch. The robot was sent soaring backwards, and Superman charged after it. He grabbed hold of the robot's arm, tearing it out of its socket as he threw the alien machine into the Metropolis harbour.

Superman flew over the harbour, searching for the robot using his x-ray vision. Without warning, a giant tendril erupted from the water, narrowly missing Superman. The robot soon emerged, the tendril having grown to replace it's missing arm. Six more tendrils extended from the robot's body, all converging on the Man of Steel. They wrapped around Superman's neck and body, trapping him. As the tendrils tightened their grip, applying more and more pressure, Superman felt something he seldom experienced.

Pain.

Yeah, speaking of the "Big Seven", I actually wrote Eilidh up as though she was Hal, rather than being in addition to him. ^^; But I can easily work with there being other human Lanterns if it's an issue, I guess.

I think that might be a good idea, because someone might want to play as Hal Jordan down the road. The current status quo in the New 52 is that Hal is basically in charge of the Green Lantern Corps, so he could be off in space dealing with all of that while Eilidh is recruited as the new Green Lantern of Sector 2814. Hal could even be the one that trained Eilidh on Oa.
The helicopter pilot desperately tried to regain control, but with the tail end completely destroyed by the robot's cannon his efforts were useless. The chopper continued to spiral downwards, as the blades slashed the windows of the adjacent building. Bethany Snow let out a shrill scream, fearing the end was near, until she saw a blur of red and blue.

Superman swooped underneath the falling helicopter, catching it with ease. An impossible feat for any normal man, but not so for the Man of Steel. Honestly, compared to some of the things Superman had dealt with before, catching an out-of-control helicopter was rather straightforward. Superman soared upwards, almost effortlessly, and gently placed the chopper down on top of a roof.

“Are you alright Miss?” said Superman, addressing the flustered Bethany, “That was some hard-hitting journalism.”

The blonde reporter attempted to gather herself while, in the distance, a black bat-like jet streaked through the air towards the robot. The plane's design was unmistakable, and Superman was struck by how of place it seemed in Metropolis. The jet fired a series a missiles that found their mark, but had minimal effect. Superman took flight, a crimson glow in his eyes.
