Question though! Will we also be showing stuff from behind the scenes etc? Times between events and so on or is it just promos and matches?

That's a great question, and the answer is that we absolutely will. The term "promo" in an eFed is basically a general term for RP. So in your promo if you want to incorporate elements of backstage politics or life on the road or life outside the ring in general, that's up to you. Also, when I write the actual show, there are going to backstage segments and all of the things that are used to develop wrestling angles. So if you have an idea for a segment you'd like to appear on a show to forward a rivalry, PM me about it or post in the OOC and I'll work it in.

Also our own version of real-life "backstage politics" will actually develop. As players, you are pitching storylines for your characters, just like how performers come up with ideas for their characters in real-life wrestling. You're also interacting with other players in the OOC section. By the nature of the game, there is one World Champion, one person on top. Some players may be cool about losing, some people may not be. You may not agree with the decisions I make about wins and losses, and you may try to pitch stories that will make your character look stronger at the expense of others. That's all part of the fun. Manipulating each other and stabbing each other in the back is what this godforesaken business was founded on after all.
Awesome, I dig it :D

Just one question, for entrance music, are we allowed to recycle older theme songs from WWE? Nothing current.

Yeah you're allowed to use actual wrestling entrance music. For all intents and purposes, this is it's own wrestling universe separate from the one in real life. The history of GPW is basically the same as WWE anyways.

Also, I'll be posting my own CS tomorrow probably. I'll have wrestlers that I control but they'll exist mainly to put over other players. I'm not going to be putting the World Title on myself.
THE UNREAL STORY OF GPW

Global Pro Wrestling, GPW, is the worldwide leader in sports entertainment. The company was originally founded as a regional wrestling promotion based in northeastern United States, centered around the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City. As the territory grew in popularity it began to expand, bypassing sacred territorial boundaries and competing with promotions in other markets. At the time, the New York territory was still a member of the World Wrestling Alliance, a committee comprised of the top promoters from around the world, recognizing a single World Champion that traveled between the territories defending his Title. By encroaching on neighboring territories, GPW had violated the terms and conditions of World Wrestling Alliance membership. This could not have come at a worse time, as the WWA World Heavyweight Title was scheduled to be defended in Madison Square Garden against New York's top contender. The Championship match would end in controversial fashion, ultimately leading to Global Pro Wrestling's succession from the WWA and recognition of their own World Heavyweight Champion.

In the years since then, Global Pro Wrestling has grown to become the number one wrestling company on the planet, and the WWA has imploded along with it's territorial system. GPW now dominates the wrestling world, and the GPW World Heavyweight Championship stands as a symbol of the company's greatness, the most prestigious Championship in sports entertainment today. Due to recent developments however, the GPW World Title has been declared vacant. It has been announced that a tournament will be held to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion, a Champion capable of leading the company into the future. For Global Pro Wrestling, a new era is about to begin...

THE RULES

This isn't your standard RP, this is a professional wrestling eFederation. Basically, an eFederation is an online wreslting organization where players "compete" against one another to win matches and championships. In Global Pro Wrestling, players will have the opportunity to control up to 3 different wrestlers. Applying to be a part of the fed is the same as applying to take part in any other RP. If you're interested simply fill out a character sheet. I will inform you when you have been accepted into the group and from there you can post you CS in the Characters section.

As the GM of the thread, I will be in the role of the "booker", or matchmaker, in charge of deciding who faces who and each GPW "event". Depending on the number of players there could be between 5-8 matches at a given event. In the OOC section I'll post the lineup of matches for the upcoming show. Questions about the matches and storyline suggestions are also handled in the OOC section or by PMing me. If you want your character to viciously assault their opponent before the match, PM me about it. If you think your character should interfere in another match, PM me about it. There's no guarantee that all of your suggestions will make it into the show, but I definitely want to hear them. I want this to be a collaborative process. Feel free to provide input on character direction not just for yourself, but for other players. It doesn't mean they have to take their character in that direction if they don't want to, but it's cool to see what other people come up with.

From there, it's up to the players to post "promos" in the IC section. After the matches are posted, players will be given about a week to write their in-character promos for the matches. A promo is when a wrestler speaks about their upcoming match. This can be done in a number of ways, though it's typically done through an interview or some kind of fancy video package. In your promo it's your job to talk trash about your opponent, build-up your rivalry and match, and showcase you character's personality. Promos are the main way you interact with the story as it allows you to take your character or feud into a particular direction. Based on these promos and the direction of the story, it's then up to me as the booker to determine the outcomes of the matches and post the results of the show. Shows results will also be posted in the IC section, and will be presented as though the reader is experiencing a live wrestling broadcast on television.

What makes a good promo? A good promo is all about selling the match, putting over yourself, and most importantly, putting over your opponent. If you say that your opponent sucks and your going to easily kick his ass that doesn't accomplish anything. If you win, it's not that impressive because you just beat a guy that sucks. And if you lose its even worse because you lost to a guy that sucks. So instead of saying "I'm going to show the world how much John Cena sucks when I kick his ass this Sunday night!" you might want to say, "John Cena is undoubtedly one of the absolute best ever. A 15-time World Champion. A guy that's done it all in this business. But Sunday night, live on pay-per-view, I'm going to prove to the world that as good as Cena is, I am simply that much better." That's the difference. Also, try to use proper spelling.

We are always looking for new talent. If you would like to join please do not hesitate to apply, or send my a PM if you have any questions. We want to have as large a roster as possible. Currently GPW offers two major championships: the GPW World Heavyweight Championship and the GPW Tag-Team Championship. As we expand, more titles may be added.

Here's a summary of the general writing process...

1. I will post the match card for the upcoming show in the OOC section.
2. Players post promos for their matches in the IC section.
3. Based on the promos, and other player input, I will write the results of the show and post them in the IC section. All results are final.

CHARACTER SHEET

Insert an image of your wrestler at the top of the sheet. Please do not use any anime/manga style images. Your best bet is to just use an image of a real wrestler, past or present, as the basis for your character's appearance.
Name:
Hometown:
Height:
Weight:

Alignment: Face or Heel, that's it. There are no tweeners. Tweeners do not actually exist in wrestling. You can be an anti-hero if you want, but that still makes you a face.
Gimmick: Are you an arrogant womanizer? A crazy ass redneck from Texas? A mysterious master of mind games? Give a short description of your basic character. The more well-define your character is the better. John Cena is more than just a good guy that never gives up. He is a guy that stands by his principles even in the face of overwhelming animosity, he's a role model for kids, he's a former rapper, he's an American patriot with a deep respect for the men and women of the military. His character has become something multifaceted and interesting. Try to develop your character in the same way.
Entrance Music: include a link to the song on youtube if possible.
Entrance Description:

Wrestling Style: Are you a powerhouse? A high-flier? A wrestling technician?
Finishing Move: Don't have more than two.
Signature Moves: Your standard moves we are going to see every match. If you're a babyface, have a sequence of moves for when you make your comeback. If you're a heel, have some go-to dirty tactics to help take the advantage. Feel free to list anywhere from 5-10 signature moves. Any more than that is redundant, it's not about having a fancy repertoire, it's about telling a story. At the end of the day, all wrestlers do the same shit every match just in slightly different ways.
Hey Zeus,

You think your federation could do with a cocky heel/tweener wannabe superstar? Cause it sounds like a fun ideas for a game and I have a character idea for "your greatest hero".

So you read Chris Jericho's book?

It looks like we have some solid interest in this, so I'm going to work on the official RP thread. To those people who were thinking of playing as divas, do you think we should have a dedicated Women's Championship or should the girls just mix it up with the guys?
wrestlemania was pretty amazing, largely because of lowered expectations and then an outstanding show. i'll brainstorm some ideas and send them to you.

i might do something ala brock/heyman where the guy has a mouthpiece if that'd be alright?

Yeah that sounds great. Lesnar and Heyman are the best thing going right now so the bar is high haha.

<Snipped quote by ZeusTheMoose>

Bro, it's all about Kazuchika Okada, rainmaker for days. No but really, cool stuff, I'll have to let my imagination run wild then, initially thinking I might draw inspiration from the likes of Great Muta, Jushin Thunder Liger and the like, though who knows where I'll go depending on just how much experience the guy has.

RAINMAKAAAAAAAA. Fucking love that move.

The only negatives I had for the night as a whole was that they really should've pushed the show back an hour or so, the coolness of Bray and Taker's entrances were taken down like 20% because it wasn't pitch black out. Also saddened they didn't put Bray over and am afraid for what the hell they're going to do with the character now, but hey, overall a great Mania.

Yeah that was the problem with booking that match. Bray needs a big win and probably shouldn't lose to a 50 year old. But the Undertaker can't just lose again at WrestleMania, because it ruins the significance of Brock Lesnar's historic win last year. With the Streak finished, there isn't really a reason for the Undertaker to stick around. He has nothing left to prove and honestly I'd be happy if he were to just retire. He looks like a broken down old man at this point.
i haven't even thought about that yet.

how do you plan to go about deciding the beginning champs and stuff?

There will be a one night tournament to determine the World Heavyweight Champion. That tournament will be the launching point for the major feuds and storylines going forward.

I'll keep a tentative eye on this, as I've always been interested in eFeds and have recently renewed my interest in the WWE product (How about that Mania ay?)

My only questions are whether or not match interference, backstage quarrels (IE: Reality and not Kayfabe) will take a part and just how in depth a player is allowed to go with their wrestlers' gimmicks and actual background. For example, say I made a guy who's been traversing the indie circuit for a few years before getting signed by (what I assume is) the international federation the RP would be based in, or that he comes from a wrestling family (Insert "The Rock's Cousin" joke here) would that be too advanced or what have you?

(I could go on about heat and repackaging and stuff, but I assume that'll be brought up in the OOC if this happens.)

Hmm, I'm now wondering whether or not a luchador or newbie from Japan could work.

To the thinking chamber so I can decide on gimmicks and such!

You are encouraged to have an in-depth background for your wrestler. The more history you have to draw from, the better. If that history is intertwined with other other player's wrestlers that's awesome. I'm a huge fan of Japanese wrestling (Shinsuke Nakamura is probably the best wrestler in the world) so I'd love to see a wrestler from Japan come into our fictional promotion.

And yeah I thought WrestleMania was great this year. Glad to see them put the belt on Seth Rollins but keep Brock Lesnar as an unbeatable beast. I also loved that Rock/Ronda Rousey segment, and that RKO on Rollins was nuts.
I can dig it.

SSSSSSSSUUUCKKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Can we play more than one wrassler in this?

Yeah you'll be able to play at least two, possibly more. What sort of ideas did you have for wrestlers?
This RP is going to be a little different than most. First of all, it's based on the world of professional wrestling, which is a pretty unique form of entertainment to begin with. Secondly, it's meant to be in the style of a wrestling eFederation, which is basically an online wrestling organization where players take on the roles of wrestlers and "compete" against one another to win matches and championships.

So how does this work exactly?

Well, it starts with enough players being interested. This isn't a dedicated wrestling site so obviously this isn't something that will appeal to everybody. But I'm sure there are a few wrestling fans, or former wrestling fans, here that would like to give this a shot. Players basically apply and fill out a character sheet for their wrestler the same as in any other RP. To pad out the roster size players will probably have the option of having 2-3 characters. Maybe one solo wrestler and one tag-team. I'll also throw some "NPC" wrestlers into the mix wherever needed.

As the GM, I'm basically the "Booker", or matchmaker, in charge of deciding who faces who at each "event". Depending on the number of players there could be between 5-8 matches at a given event. In the OOC section I'll post the lineup of matches for the upcoming show. Questions about the matches and storyline suggestions are also handled in the OOC section or by PMing me.

In addition to writing promos, another aspect of handling your characters is submitting a character strategy or "strat" for the upcoming event. This isn't always necessary but it's a good way to offer input on the general direction of your character, and the feuds or storylines they may be involved in. For example, you may want your character to viciously attack his opponent before their upcoming match, or you may want your character to turn from a hero to a villain. To do this, you simply PM me a strat for the upcoming show, and I'll do my best to incorporate your suggestions. By sending strats over PM it also helps keep the other players on their toes, so they will be genuinely surprised by some of the twists and turns the story takes.

Alright, that's a lot to take in, so if you have any questions feel free to post or message me. Like I said, the first stage is finding players so that's obviously why I wanted to post this here in the Interest Check section. If you're a wrestling fan or if you've had a passing interest in wrestling and this sounds cool to you, please let me know by leaving a comment. Honestly, the more potential players we can get on board the better.
Awhile ago I wanted to get an eFed style pro wrestling RP going on here. So if we were to organize something like that I think it would be pretty cool. I'd be curious to at least see what ideas you have and I might be interested in participating. Send me a PM as well if you feel up to it, I'm a huge wrestling fan.
