Nicknamed the Ugly Duckling of the Alstrohm family not because she has a deformity of her face or a limp in one of her legs but because she had the inability to follow in the likeness of her mother to an honorable degree. On the other hand, Jesper also lacks such attributes, which would give any authority in the patriarchy of her family (and the rest of society as was understood in this time frame). However, as the youngest of seven children, she has been granted special privileges that have extended well beyond the normal. It is these peculiarities which help guide the directions and paths that have molded the woman she shall be at the start of this epic journey, a Ranger.
