It's like they're in a trance, like that time I smoked [REDACTED]. I took the surviving humans in a kodiak and fled back to the city.

Admiral Nitesh Singh is the commanding officer of the Alliance third fleet. Singh is an accomplished strategist; his cautious and analytical approach makes him the ideal leader for protecting the Crucible. However, Singh's tendency to see the worst in everything and everyone does little for his (lack of) charisma. Though he currently holds the largest command in Sol, non-human leaders hardly see Singh as a unifying figure.

Matriarch Lidanya is the captain of the Destiny Ascension. She is currently heading the asari forces in Sol. Her experience leading the Citadel defense fleet makes her believe that everyone's top priority should be salvaging and repairing the Citadel. Lidanya argues Citadel is a more suitable habitat for non-humans compared to Earth, and the cost of restoring it is less than rebuilding the mass relay. Colonel Vaykom, the highest ranking salarian in the system, supports her.

Admiral Ravis Kandros and General Invectus control turian space and ground forces, respectively. Their top concern is the long term survivability of millions of turians in human's home system. Earth does not produce dextro food, and turian rations are finite. Any chances of relying on quarian supplies are dashed when migrant fleet's civilian ships fled upon noticing the Crucible fire. As such, turian leadership adamantly insist on fixing the mass relay above all else.

Binary Helix CEO Killira T'Nama buys Bir Tawil for a 6 billion credit payment to Egypt, Sudan and the African Union. Within a week, over 100 prefab structures and over 400kms of shielding have been placed in the area. A joint statement between T'Nama and AU negotiator Fakhir bin Jamal Galal says the intent is to establish a self-sustaining habitat for asari civilians in the only unclaimed region of earth. Reports of clashes between nomadic locals and new arrivals are currently being reviewed.

This purchase inspires similar offers: the volus engineering corp draws up plans to convert the VI facility on Luna to a sealed methane habitat, an influential hanar guru proposes expansions to the Aquarius Reef Base, and several salarian defense contractors want to set up shop on the decommissioned Hibernia oil rig.

Demonstrations and riots erupt across the globe in response. Thousands of Peruvians chase off a turian mining group from the Andes, four countries in Central Asia close their airspace to non-human vehicles, and the premier of China announces adjustments to China's extraterrestrial immigration policies. The divide between nations friendly to non-humans and those unwilling to welcome them has halted the recently proposed resource-sharing plan.

The first major Alliance memorial service since the war is set to take place in Geneva, Switzerland. Among those commemorated are deceased war heroes such as Admiral David Anderson, Commander Shepard and Vice Admiral Agnes Wistrom. High profile figures in attendance include Admiral Nitesh Singh, European Commission President Matteo Hertz, and Grissom Academy Director Kahlee Sanders. A meeting between alliance and earth leaders will take place after.

At the behest of allied forces and corporations, last minute changes are made to include those beyond the alliance and earth resistances.

Leaked communique from Singh reveals "species of concern" and "sanctioned organizations" barred from entering inner solar system (without permit). Four species listed are rachni, batarian, vorcha and krogan. Among the 20+ organizations mentioned, several major PMCs stand out: Blue Suns, Blood Pack, and CAT6. The communique also considers restricting the quarian migrant fleet and Eclipse. Alliance public affairs office has declined to comment.

Balak's batarian hardliners on Titan welcome surprising allies. 17 quarian captains, led by the captain of Konesh, pledge their ships and crews in protest of SSV Nairobi shooting down two quarian civilian vessels over Venus. Waves of drells flock to Titan when they are unable to gain representation among allied commands without their hanar handlers (most hanars have left the solar system). Vorchas, banned from the inner solar system, fill valuable roles as Balak's laborers and pilots. However, Governor Grothan Pazness, one of the few batarians allowed past the asteroid belt, denounces Balak's "pact of pariahs" and urges all sides to cease hostilities and come to the negotiating table.

In a tear-filled interview, UNIN delegate Alis Silhaus pleads for intervention on Titan, where hundreds of humans (including Silhaus' brother) are being held hostage. Allied command response states a negotiation team is sent a week ago and has also been held by Balak. No military action is expected with lives of hostages at stake. Though several smaller mercenary outfits have offered their services to retake Titan.

Matriarch Lidanya and Colonel Vaykom hold joint press conference on the newly repaired Citadel Presidium. The Presidium reopening ceremony is subject to an interruption from lower ward survivors led by Inès Gobeli, who hold up signs decrying the symbolic gesture over restoring vital infrastructures to survivors in the wards. Lidanya and Vaykom promises to aid the wards. Gobeli and five survivors are detained after a physical confrontation.

Lidanya denies rumors of a(n) [TRANSLATION MISSING] and an assassination attempt. Though the matriarch warns of dangers posed by Eclipse and other rogue mercenaries.

Vaykom awards honors to a salarian crew for rescuing stranded quarian miners. This includes a posthumous induction into the Order of Sur'Kesh, the highest military honor of the salarian union, for the crew's deceased captain.

Salarian forces discover an organ trafficking operation between Blood Pack on Europa and an earth-based gang. Vaykom promises swift retribution for all complicit parties. A salarian officer comments anonymously that "such barbaric behavior demonstrates the necessity of the genophage." Jorgal Kargg, head of a krogan clan considered second only to Urdnot, condemns both the Blood Pack and the salarians. Kargg vows to deal with Blood Pack leader Quash Hurgott "in accordance to krogan justice".

Lidanya announces the creation of a second shipping lane to Alpha Centuari. Since reestablishing contact with Manswell colony, only 13 alliance spacecrafts are capable of covering the distance on their own, and only two vessels are slated to service Manswell. An asari cruiser and a salarian support ship will fly to and from Alpha Centauri independent of the alliance. An insider claims an asari science team stranded on Manswell from before war has made critical discoveries. 

Blue Suns and turian high command reach a deal for the release of the turian survey ship. Though details are classified (typical for turian military exchanges), analysts suggest General Invectus has paid a turian Blue Suns commander vegan dextro rations originally earmarked for the migrant fleet. Some military bloggers notice the release of a turian penal brigade, with many of its member since joining Blue Suns.

New declassified documents puts Jormangund Technology under fire for alleged cerberus collaboration during the war. Alliance procurement terminates all contracts with Jormangund in response. An elcor patrol detains a Jormangund freighter heading for the outer solar system.

Batarian forces led by Balak seize control of Titan. Alliance personnel resisting the takeover have been vented out of the domed cities. This move is widely condemned, with an anonymous Alliance officer calling it "a resurgence of batarian terrorism." There is no comment from Balak.

Mercenary companies were given staging grounds on former Alliance training facilities on Europa. Last week, a three-way skirmish broke out between the Blood Pack, Blue Suns and Eclipse. The Blood Pack successfully ejects their rivals from Europa, and is using their victory to recruit krogans in the solar system. "Traitor Wrex and his alien co-conspirators abandoned the krogans," their propaganda broadcasts, "but the Blood Pack won't!"

Blue Suns mercs near Uranus capture a turian survey ship heading for Charon relay. The Blue Suns captain demands a hefty ransom from turian command. Admiral Ravis Kandros calls for their immediate release and threatens to retaliate with "overwhelming force".

Due to above instabilities, travel beyond the asteroid belt is currently not advised.

A quarian mining ship has been detained by salarian patrols near the Citadel. The quarians claim they were rescuing survivors, while the salarians believe they were looters.

The largest resistances agree to a resource-sharing plan. They call for scrapping inoperable spacecrafts for rebuilding habitats on Earth. Non-human leaders are invited to participate, but so far none has accepted the offer.

Bragus Thul, the first krogan quarterback, becomes the mayor of Havana. Thul was traded from the NY Giants to Havana's new football team when the reapers invaded. He led survivors on Cuba after its human leaders were killed. Since Havana is relatively undamaged, Thul is opening up the city as a trade hub.

Oriana Lawson sets up refugee housing among the ruins of Brisbane. She has agreed to lend ex-Ceberus servers owned by her sister, Miranda Lawson, to SRN.

Long range communication is reestablished with Alpha Centauri. It appears the Manswell colony has survived the reaper war.

A search and rescue team investigating into a feint emergency signal on Mars discover Eclipse vessels and personnel combing over the remains of military installations, including the archives of Prothean discoveries on Mars.

For Clan Bragus on Tuchanka, the alien concept of "sport" is seen as a frivolous waste of time. But for a young Bragus krogan named Thul, who is unable to complete a traditional rite of passage, the human sport of gridiron football seems like the perfect challenge to prove his worth. In just a few years on earth, Bragus Thul gains the respect he fails to find for decades, culminating in a Super Bowl win with the NY Giants in 2185. However, Thul soon finds himself traded to the newly established Havana Castellanos in 2186. There, the krogan quarterback struggles to captain the third-rate team of a backwater earth nation.

Thul is ready to kick off the Castellanos' inaugural game when news of the invasion breaks. In the ensuing chaos, he takes a microphone and tells the stadium that "we always have to fight for what we believe in", just the Bragus shaman once told him. And so Thul would stay on earth, even when he is given a seat on a ship out of the solar system.

At first, Cuba's insignificance seems to be its salvation. As the more developed North American mainland is ravaged, the Caribbean island escapes the initial assault. When the reaper does come, they come as...diplomats?

Desperate to avoid the slaughter happening all over earth, Cuban president Ruben Salcedo accepts the reapers' peace offer. But not long after he emerges from a "negotiation", Salcedo begins acting peculiarly. Tens of thousands would be ordered into "refugee camps" and never return, and the Cuban police and military soon replaced by collectors.

Upon seeing signs of President Salcedo's indoctrination, Thul flees into the Sierra Maestra. Thousands of others, including the remnants of Cuban security forces, would form a resistance there. Thul organizes small-scale raids against reaper outposts, like he would organize touchdown plays on the football field. In one such raid, a fellow resistance member captures a photo of the football jersey-wearing krogan charging a group of husks with a Cuban flag in hand, and a cigar in his mouth. After that, Bragus Thul becomes an icon.

However, the resistance soon suffers a disastrous setback when indoctrinated leaders deliver nearly a third of their people straight into the reapers' clutches. Against all odds, Thul inspires the resistance to fight on.

During a mission across the Caribbean, the Cuban resistance find a QEC amid the ruins of Kingston, Jamaica. This enables secure communication with prominent resistances elsewhere around the globe, and one of them is commanded by Admiral Anderson, who invites Thul to join forces at London, where the admiral says a decisive counterattack is happening soon. Thul declines; he cannot abandon his people. So Anderson proposes an alternative, a local offensive in Cuba, in coordination with hundreds of similar moves around the world. This will prevent reaper reinforcements from being diverted to London.

When the day comes, Thul marches on Havana alongside 1511 resistance fighters. Instead of a ruin like Kingston, they discover the city almost perfectly intact. And instead of facing hordes of husks, they encounter President Salcedo, now bedecked in reaper implants, asking them to lay down their arms and join him in "transcending mortality".

The resistance stands defiant. Thul leads the charge, fighting their way to the presidential palace until a reaper destroyer stops them dead in their tracks. This mechanical monster, nicknamed El Embajador for "negotiating" with Salcedo, proves too much for the shoddily armed resistance. But then, multiple shuttles and gunships descend from the clouds. They belong to a galaxy-wide coalition, and they are the reason behind Anderson's gambit.

Finally inside the president's office atop the palace, Bragus Thul meets the shell of a statesman. El Embajador's destruction momentarily disrupts Salcedo's indoctrination.

"You condemn me for protecting my people." Salcedo mumbles. He opens the windows and looks down to the ground far below. "History will absolve me."

President Ruben Salcedo plunges to his death, finally free from reaper control.

Then another reaper arrives, a Sovereign-class dreadnought; even allied reinforcements are no match for it. This is one of the few moments Thul feels completely hopeless. Though in the next moment, the crucible fires, the reaper crumbles in Havana Harbor and Thul realizes his rite of passage is complete at last.

Havana emerges from the war as one of the least damaged cities on earth. Salcedo might have saved his capital, but not its people. Over a million residents have been liquefied in dozens of reaper processing centers, and the "augmented" leaders die instantly when the crucible blast overload their reaper implants. The survivors need someone to lead their recovery, and while humans still head the nation, Habaneros would have none other than Bragus Thul.

Mayor Thul's first order of business is celebration. Like after a hard won football match, only the rowdiest party would be the fitting conclusion. A painful hangover later, Thul is contacted by Captain Lee Riley, an N7 engineer of the Alliance 3rd Fleet, who would assist in reopening Havana spaceport. Additionally, Thul reaches a deal with the crucible's circuitry department. They dismember the reapers together, Thul keeps El Embajador's eezo core for the city power grid, and Dr. Jelize's people haul away the rest for study.

By April, these monumental first steps to rebuilding are done. The news of a thriving tropical city spreads even beyond earth. Thousands flock to Havana each day. With prosperity comes the inevitable chaos; thieves, scammers and gangs infest the neglected parts of the city. Keeping the peace becomes increasingly difficult for the resistance-turned-security forces. Still, Bragus Thul refuses to let a few bad guys dampen the mood. In fact, another week of parties is exactly what he needs to bring everyone together.
