Alexander wasn't too tactically minded, but the defensive line already prepared sounded decent 'This...might work. But I'm still worried about Lily.' Hearing that the roof was so open didn't fill him with confidence 'I'm just going to trust her. With her magic, she should be able to escape if things get too dicey.'

”On second thought, maybe I’ll go to the..eeh, foyer. It looks like it has plenty of space, and it doesn’t look super cold.”

'Oh thank fuck!' Alexander let out a sigh of relief. He felt better knowing that Lily would be somewhere more fortified then a rooftop. Suddenly remembering, he let his Beast magic flow as his costume altered and his head became uncovered 'I really need to remember to do that.'

"Lexander~?"

'Fuck. Am I just the nickname guy now?' Some heavily armored girl approached him

"If you don't have any plans, Hilaria would love for you to accompany her~"

'Is...is she talking in third person? Fuck it, it's not that big a deal' He sighed before responding "Well Lily was planning on going to the rear lines...I think. So if you're off the the front, then sure" Alexander took her explanation to Mariette that she preferred close range combat a yes.

”Anyway, I’m gonna go now. And, um, Alex...I...” Lily's voice drew his attention. But seconds after he turned to her, she kissed him.

Alexander froze up, the world around him becoming hazy for a little while as he felt a strange warm tingle flow through him from his lips 'Was that...lightning magic?' he wondered. His faculties returning, he raised his wand and proclaimed in a slightly drunken manner "To the front lines!" before walking to the portal to the artillery line, the one Mariette mentioned having the most chance of close combat.

Alexander didn't really understand why Lily was suddenly shy and tiptoeing around why they came here, so he decided to speak up "One of your old minions came by and told us that you were being brainwashed by your Patron and that she was getting a team or something to violence your brainwashing away or something. Also, she mentioned that Justine was going to be involved. Of course, I couldn't just take that at face value, since she might be the one getting brainwashed. So we came here to get your side of the story in an attempt to make sense of this latest batch of nonsense." He explained in his usual blunt way "So yeah, that's pretty much it. I'd ask you if you were being brainwashed, but you'd probably say you weren't even if you were..."

'The wish sisters?' Alexander hadn't realized that they were that close to Mariette. On top of that, the last time he had seen them had been during the Vacation. 'I mean, I guess they'd be fine' he thought to himself. They both seemed harmless enough, and they had gotten Lily some new magic (although he now found himself annoyed about how they pulled that off). So while he didn't know them too well, he also didn't really have any problem with them. However, all that got thrown out the window when Lily pushed him to the side and spoke up

”Sorry, I got spooked! Mariette must have responded” She brought out her cellphone, and managed a slight smile despite the awkward situation. ”She said we can come and visit her!”

"Well that was fast" Alexander mumbled getting up. He quickly said his transformation phrase under his breath, and soon felt the familiar rush of power flood him. Taking Lily's hand, he felt a strange tingle as they were transported to a completely dark room with nothing in it "...please don't tell me this was a trap" his answer came in the form of a portal opening up in front of them, and he let out a sigh of relief as they walked through into what looked like an office room. Lily, ever the social butterfly, was quick to open dialogue, but was cut off when another portal opened up behind them. Getting out of the way, he saw that on the other side were three girls; Su, the Stomach Shanker, and some third one. "...Okay, I'm suddenly lost. What exactly is going on here?"

Alexander, having noticed Lily fiddling with her phone, just nodded as he sat down besides Lily "I've seen way too much factional bickering and power plays to take this at face value. For all we know, someone could be tricking Ronin to get at Mariette. Actually, do we even know why Ronin left Mariette?" He asked, suddenly realizing something "I mean...I don't think I ever heard any kind of explanation for that. Could that be in some way connected?" Frustrated, Alexander ruffled his on hair "Gah, I hate this! We know just enough to be worried, but not enough to actully do anything! Do we know anyone else who's familiar with Mariette? Maybe we can get something from them."

Alexander was really more of a crappy B movie kind of guy. Watching people try and fail to make a movie with any degree of competence was not only funny, but made him feel warm inside. That being said; he found that he enjoyed the movie marathon much more then he expected to, and he had a very strong suspicion who was responsible for that; Lily.

”-oo. It’s just a shame we can’t do much with all this crazy stuff happening.”

'That...that sounds really nice' Alexander thought as he worked on the dishes 'Dammit, I'm turning into a total sap. But I just...I want more of this' Before that line of thought could go any further however, Alexander heard the vacuum turn off "Huh?" Putting what he was doing on hold, he walked over to where Lily was, and saw her fumbling with her phone. Before he could even say anything, she spoke up

”Hey Alex...Ronin just messaged me. She is going to try and free Mariette from her mind-bending. But I think that means she’s going to join Justine in her attack. And that means I’d need to fight her!” She held Alexander's shoulders, dropping the vacuum.
”What should we do?”

'Aww fuck...' Alexander sighed. Hesitantly, he put his hand on Lily's head and started rubbing to calm her down. "Okay, this is the first I've heard of Mariette being under any Mind-Bending. So before we do anything we might want to get some more details on that. If she really is being controlled, then we'll have to help her. She's running a relief center right now, and having someone in charge of something like that being under mind control...well...it probably won't turn out well for the people staying there. Also..." Alexander paused "...I suppose I do kind of owe her for helping to save you."

It was strange how having Lily in his lap made him feel so warm "Uh...no. This is fine." he responded to Lily's suggestion to change places. He was...happy(?) with how things were. Despite looking at the TV, and having his eyes open, he couldn't seem to focus on the movie. It was if most of the mental processing power dedicated to dealing with visual information had been re-allocated to tactile information, since it seemed like his sense of touch had somehow been boosted 'Should I?' Alexander slowly moved his arms from his side to Lily's waist, as he wrapped them around her, pulling her into a hug 'This is okay...right?'

Alexander raised a confused eyebrow at...whatever Shoggy was doing to Shane 'I mean...he doesn't seem to be in pain...so I guess it's okay? I wonder what that would feel like?' His mind conjured up the mental image of Lily suddenly sprouting mouths all over her front side and pulling him into some weird hug/kiss thing. This only led to him feeling even more confused. "This game is weird"

Hearing that sent a shot of prime grade adrenaline straight to his heart, as he shifted his head to look at Ronin. It wouldn't be the first time another girl kissed Lily, but the idea of it happening now pissed him off "One sentence. It took you one sentence to make me want to punch you in the face." His voice and face were disturbingly serene as he just sat there, staring at her "That's...actually impressive. Normally I need to work up to 'punch in face' mad just a little bit, but you got me there with just one sentence." His eyes started to look down "So this is what having a girlfriend does to a guy, huh? I really don't like it...but it still feels worth it somehow. Fuck, Lily...what the hell are you doing to me? Sometimes I swear that girl has to have psychic magic." he said, more to himself then anyone else as he clutched his head with one hand

Alexander was kind of nervous. Not only was he kind of awkward in social settings, but the last outing he and Lily had taken part in...didn't end well. 'She's just starting to piece herself back together...I don't want to see what happens if something breaks her again.' Despite the odds of something happening being extremely low, Alexander couldn't just logic away his worry. So he took a seat on the couch, and tried to keep his eyes and ears open for any incoming danger 'This would be so much easier with my magic. My senses feel so dull in my normal form.' However, all that came to an end, when Lily sat herself right on his lap

"Sorry Alex! I know how much you don’t like people being this close, but we gotta make some space. And uh...This is normal for couples to do.”

"N-no, it's...fine" he struggled to get out that much. The weight and warmth of her body proving to be extremely distracting. 'This...this is nice.' he found himself relaxing, as he slowly started to become numb to everything else. '...I think I could get used to this.' But he was suddenly dragged back to reality when he felt Lily leave his lap

"-ing? I can help you look for them, Saku-chan,” Lily walked off

Alexander shook his head to clear it of the fuzz that had formed 'What the hell was that!? I mean, it was nice, but what the hell was it!?' His train of thought was derailed when someone shouted

“YOU!?” Some girl pointed at Alex. She wore a dejected look on her face. “…Truth or dare?”

Looking at her, he noticed a bottle between them pointing at him 'This sounds familiar...' With a shrug he answered; "Truth"

“Who was the last woman you thought about that wasn’t Lily?”

Alexander took a minute to think "...Justine. She's this nutjob that kidnapped Lily awhile ago for some weird anti-love ritual or something. Anyway, she's apparently back, and not too long ago, Lily, myself, and another girl were having a conversation about what to do if she went on a revenge spree. On top of that, I'll admit that I've been a little worried lately about her suddenly breaking into our home to attack us"

Alexander had a rare, peaceful expression on his face 'You know...it's kind of funny just how much my life has changed in such a short time.' Even after all this time, he still wasn't used to such heartfelt words of gratitude. Even when she was still in so much pain, she was actually able to thank him. 'Even though I couldn't really do anything but try and pick up the pieces. I still don't understand how someone as nice as you could think of yourself as a shame' he transitioned from rubbing her head to running his hand through her hair out of impulse 'I never really knew anyone like you back in my old life, so I'm not always sure how to handle you.' he shook his head 'When I think back to my old life...before all the magic happened...'

'...none of it feels real. Like everything before was just some horrible dream. I guess there's a part of me that's afraid that this is the dream. And one day I'll just wake up in that rundown apartment. I...I think that might finally break me, I might actually go through with it.' He continued running his hand through Lily's hair, almost like he was in a trance, as he felt sleep start to claim him. 'It's kind of nice to be wanted.' As he slipped into dreams, his transformation came undone, and he slumped backwards, one of his hand falling limp on Lily's shoulders
