Out of curiosity, do you have any sources you'd recommend we read to prepare for the start of the RP?

This is a decent video that explains the direct fall of the Soviet Union. However I also recommend reading just from Wikipedia. Of course due to rather blatant political beliefs I have a bias opinion personally on the fall of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact, but I will however remain entirely neutral in the RP and leave it to the players to lead the Union.
@Shorticus and @Gaebrael are accepted! You can now move your sheets to the Character Tab!

For those still interested I do recommend working up at least a WIP in the next day or so. I'd like to avoid this dying from inactivity before we even start. Besides that we're looking good gents!
I'm still working on my sheet, but I'm going to ask that I be allowed to represent the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Knock yourself out. We can have representatives of the same SSR. I mean, the Politburo had MANY Ukrainians, Russians, and Belarussians.

Also @DeadBeatWalking is accepted!

@Gaebrael I assume you're still working since I'm not entirely sure I can accept [REDACTED] as a background. PM me if it's a secretive sort of deal. Otherwise accepted!

Okay, that's good info. So, the end of the Soviet Union isn't set in stone yet. Are we looking at January 1st, or some time later? Has the Berlin Wall gone down yet? (I know its demolition doesn't really get into gear until 1990, but still.)

January 1st.

As of current none of the events that directly brought the end of the USSR are in effect. However perestroika and glasnost are ongoing programs. This includes the fall of the Pact satellite states.
Is the RP actually set in the year 1991?

Takes place in 1989. If we set it in '91 we'd basically just be playing the Russian Federation. So I think setting it a year or two before the historical fall of the USSR gives us some time to develop characters and prepare for such major events or even prevent them entirely.
Damn. Uh.. Nevermind. Er. One sec.

YOU JUST WON YOURSELF GULAG TIME COMRADE

One of these links will lead to the OOC. The other will lead to Ocean Man by Ween. Which is which?

CЯISIS IИ THЗ КЯЭMLIЙ!

Comrade! Congratulations for your electoral success and welcome to the Politburo! Being on the Political Bureau is no easy task however. For you see Comrade, our glorious Soviet Union has entered dire times. General Secretary Gorbachev's policies of Glastnost and Perestroika have tore the entire system asunder and rumors of a 'collapse' fill the smokey air of Red Army High Command and the Central Committee. As per your new position, your duty shall be to serve the Union and her people! Show the entire Politburo that your home SSR is the finest in wealth, prestige, culture, and power! Perhaps you are the type who's hands are not so clean? Perhaps you'd be willing to work with your fellow Politburo members and take the General Secretariat's seat right from under old Gorby? Or perhaps you are a noble and just politician, if there ever was one. Regardless of what you wish to do with your new position, just know Comrade. There is a Crisis in the Kremlin!

Welcome to Crisis in the Kremlin! Based upon the 1991 PC strategy game of the same name, you shall be taking the role as a member of the highest political organ of the Soviet Union. Your place in the Politburo is entirely yours to make, where you hail from and how noble or corrupt you are is entirely up to you! However, there shall always be a crisis! In these turbulent final(?) years of the USSR the actions and policies you and your fellow Politburo members take are crucial in saving both your seats, but also your nation. The RP will largely be played from the background, with PMs and discussion being encouraged! In addition to whatever player created events take place, there will be consistent GM events involving events outside the USSR, often causing 'crisis' and furthering the plot of our little political thriller.

I am not a rule-heavy GM, in fact I find having too many rules is worse than too few in many cases. However, there will be a few basic ones.

Please post your character sheet in the OOC for approval before transferring the sheet to the Characters tab. Also do note that yes, your character may very well die in this! Thus, a 'Date of Death' tab has been added. But fear not! For a new character is free of charge in our glorious Worker's Paradise!

Saving myself a little spot here, don't mind me. I'll definitely be getting at LEAST a WIP up tonight, I'm just a tad busy with a few other projects at the moment.
