Aiya, Arte never charged straight ahead, she just got ready to :v
Artemisia de Chauret

As the situation developed, it looked like they were quickly becoming boxed in, and with a need to shepherd a mentally infirm girl, to boot. If Locke’s surveillance was correct, they’d be running into Imperial interference quite soon.

Cecilia’s suggestion felt a bit foolish, and it meant destroying ancient ruins, to boot. Artemisia would have retorted with a different plan of her own, if they weren’t suddenly accosted by what probably was an imperial scout.

That didn’t stop the sluttily dressed girl in their party from trying to flatter him out, though. Paladin, really? It looked like the man was barely a rung above conscript, and that was only Artemisia’s evaluation because an actual conscript wouldn’t put his neck out on the line like this man was doing.

It didn’t matter anyway, since the knight that she had helped heal earlier knocked him right out when after Annabelle’s familiar started glomping his head. The lizardman then even jumped in to pummel the unfortunate scout, despite him already being punched to unconsciousness.

For Artemisia, that was all as well; the priority should have been ignoring the man and breaking for the exit, but now the commotion had caused an entire group of soldiers to converge on their position.

Whatever the mentally disabled girl was doing with the scout’s sword, she ignored.

“Dammit, we’re about to be surrounded. Stop dallying and go!” She shot a glare at Locke and Serafaye, before pointing her horse in the direction of the open eastern road, ready to race down the road.
Mm, guess I'll wait for somebody else to punt the soldier before I post, because Arte isn't doing it.

Damn, baited
Artemisia de Chauret

So, her name was Serafaye. A strange name, to be sure, but the girl was spouting some even stranger nonsense. What was a Severanoxis, and where was the Herculon Gorge? Artemisia knew her geography very well, and not just for the local cluster of countries, either. She had never heard of that place before.

It was rather more likely that this girl was seriously delusional or mistaking some discount romance novel for reality. She didn’t really believe any of the nonsense about another plane or reality that Cecilia suggested, either.

It was even more strange when Artemisia’s companions and Serafaye started touching each other.

Artemisia didn’t actually have a problem with a bit of skinship. It was not like she wasn’t innocent of it herself in the school baths in better times…

But there was a time and place, and Locke was the first to point it out, and Artemisia was all too kind to add on to that.
“Unless you have some amazing power up those ridiculous looking sleeves of yours, then we should be leaving.”

Shifting her gaze from Serafaye back to Cecelia, the merchant girl frowned. “I could, if either party acquiesces. The way I see it, neither she nor I would find that arrangement agreeable.”

She shrugged, before quickly following up, the sounds of suspiciously uniform footsteps approaching in the distance. “My intuition says to break east. There seems to be less resistance coming from that side.”

With that, she remounted her horse, ready to get a very quick move on, but not before giving a long stare at the star girl.

“And yes, you are a girl.”
Wow, straight to molestation.
Artemisia de Chauret

While Locke might have washed his hands of this dirty business –quite literally, Artemisia was getting the impression—Artemisia had gone through hell to save the people of her city in the past, and perhaps even slightly beyond it. If some adventurers came to her in peace to save a dying companion, who was she to refuse such a request? Besides, unlike Locke, she took no particular notice to the lizardman, except that it was still rare to see one of his kind around these parts.

Approaching the unconscious knight, she kneeled down over him, a light glowing between her palms as they hovered over him, letting positive energy flow back into the elf as she casted her healing spell.

Artemisia was quite quickly distracted from thus mundane task, however; she didn’t even hear the conscious big tiddy elf when her attention was taken away by the sudden lightshow atop the tower that the rest of her party had been ascending. Had they reached the top, or found the star? Regardless, it seemed like something was happening, and before she knew it, the elf, her summon, and her lizard companion were off, leaving her and an unhelpful Locke with the sleeping knight. The elf’s departure seemed to be accented with screaming though. Artemisia didn’t know what was up with that, and she wasn’t going to pry.

Right, might as well continue healing.

And that she did, until she was interrupted again. This time, by another large breasted girl in indecent looking clothing, spewing nonsense about some sort of acting and, apparently, book-keeping related topics, from words that she picked out of the strange girl’s word salad. Artemisia replied to her queries with a deadpan tone, although she raised an eyebrow as Kaze returned, being a bit more handsy in his own concern than she thought was necessary.

“Are you okay? Words require context to make sense, I’ll have you know. Who are you and how did you get here, anyway?”

It seemed almost nothing short of a miracle that an adventurer like her had made it this far, acting like nothing less than the village idiot.
his fate has been cieled
Yeet them off anyway.

Artemisia raised an eyebrow at Locke’s gesture, slightly curious at his refusal. Although she was de facto exiled, she still managed to make enough money for herself to keep up elements of her older, more lavish lifestyle. That was something that extended to the food and supplies that she purchased, so the jerky that she was idly munching on now was actually some nice stuff.

“More for me, then.” She shrugged, before packing the rest back away and washing down the snack with a healthy sip from her flask. Artemisia was just about to wonder about how to pass the time waiting for the rest of the party to return when a loud crash rang out nearby. She didn’t need to be hold to stay alert, although her horse thought otherwise, whinnying and bucking at the sudden noise. Thankfully, by the time the figures appeared from the dust clouds of the ruined building nearby, her horse was back under control.

What she saw was a strange sight to behold. The two of them were being approached by an elf girl and a huge lizard man, dragging the body of a knight, armor and all, behind him. The sight of that alone kept her on guard, and she raised a hand in a gesture to not get too close, despite the lizardman’s neutral greeting. In fact, she didn’t often see lizard people… another reason to be suspicious.
Still, there was no sense to be needlessly undiplomatic.

“If that is your intention, then ours is the same,” she finally replied, flicking her eyes towards Locke to see if he was on the same page. She finally dismounted in an act of peace, keeping her hands on her horses’ reins. Her eyes then glanced back towards the lizard, and the elven girl, about to ask what was up with the unconscious knight, but then she remembered that the elf girl had called out while she and Locke were still a bit distracted.

“We don’t have much in the way of supplies. I might be the best substitute for a proper healer here though. Set him down and I’ll have a look at him.”
