Backstory/Motivations
Water, so much water and fun! From his youth, Meo always enjoyed playing in the great ocean that his village was built on. He and his younger sister, Nay, would spend hours and hours on the waves of the sea doing a variety of ocean-based activities. This peaceful paradise was their home, a lovely home that was a tropical paradise to everyone.
At age 12, Meo soon learned about the power of Ki. How did he learn about it? Well, it started off with his first ever surfing lesson. The young boy desperately wanted to show to his family that he can surf and even join the older kids in their long hours out on the waves. Ignoring the rules about not going out on the water on Day One, as soon as his lesson on learning the basics of surfing was over, Meo immediately headed off to attempt his new favorite hobby. Course his chances of survival out there were practically zero, the boy went out way too far for him to even swim back to shore. The surfboard too far away for him to grab, and his stamina running low, Meo did one final reach toward the shore wishing for it to be closer than how far it was. The waves and tides responded to his call and quickly sent a miniature wave to lift the boy back to shore, drenched...and excited.
For the next 6 years, Meo spent all of his time dedicated to a multitude of tasks to sate his curiosity about Ki, surfing, and the ocean. He was found consistently on the fishing boats in the early morning, learning about different ships and their purposes including many tips on fishing whether casually or for survival. The one negative feedback from learning almost everything about tides, currents, and ships in general was that Meo neglected his normal studies making him quite...dumb when the subjects don't involve the ocean. In the afternoons, Meo always spent his free time into learning more and more tricks about surfing, his body becoming more fluid and graceful as he rode the waves. The village would never forget the teen heading off to the shores to be the first one riding the waves, and the last one to pull in his surfboard from the beach. However, his name "Surfing Shark," was given to him not only for this one reason.
The evenings were long and harsh but still very much enjoyable for the happy Meo. The elders of his village and many of the adults trained him in controlling his Ki and brawled with him when they heard of him being able to use Ki during the near death incident. Only a few were able to control Ki in his village but those who did were only able to cause small currents to help catch fish or such. Meo was able to cause a small wave to lift him back to shore! Therefore, the adults prepared him through constant training involving tedious workouts of running and strength conditioning, but also involve learning Kickboxing, Karate, and Boxing which Meo secretly incorporated into his own fighting style involving his surfboard or really any surfboard at hand. The elders, on the other hand, taught him better control of Ki. These elders used to be Ki-users, greater than those who were still a middle aged-adult who can use Ki. However, these elders have not focused on tutoring anyone as thorough as they did for Meo. Controlling water to move from one location to the other, how to use Ki as a thin-layer of defense by controlling water, and even aiding the teen into making a strong wave out of almost nothing!
At the age of 18, Meo has finally reached the coming of age ceremony. Choosing the tattoo of a shark, his entire back now is covered by the proud symbol he chose (Shark Tattoo) to represent his combative prowess and love for the water. The celebration was short lived as reports came in that foreign investors have bought the village's lands, stating that the inhabitants are forced to vacate the owned property within a few months. Determined to save his village, Meo heard about the tournament arising for fame and glory and decided to become a Nomad. Now on a boat across the sea, this tan skinned "Shark Surfer" brings only a shark tooth charm and a wooden surfboard from home as he prepares to find a way to save his village.

Fighting-Style
Being taught Boxing, Karate, and Kickboxing, Meo managed to come up with his own style of fighting so that he can use his surfboard as a type of weapon in combat. Calling this Shark Surfing Style, he uses his quick reflexes to constantly dodge attacks at close range while returning light, swift strikes in response. Mostly focusing on aiming at the limbs of his opponents or vital areas, his main priorities are to cripple the opponent to make a finishing blow much easier to land and establish. To finish off most of his combos or an opponent, Meo brings out the surfer inside of him as he uses a surfboard (not all the time has to be his) to land much harsher blows and actually increases his range a bit due to the reach his surfboard provides. Though...taking away his surfboard or even crippling him once to slow his dodging movements are major flaws in this style...after all, taking away the tool for the one who rides the wave or harming the rider of the said tool can prevent the user to flow with this style.
Special Attacks/Techniques
- Water Flow (Passive) - Using the moisture in the air to form a thin layer of water around his board to enhance its defenses, making it hard enough to even provide cover against bullets! If Meo applies more Ki into the moisture making the layer of defensive water, the board will be even more durable to withstand even stronger attacks! However, in order to perform other special moves, the layer of water has to move to other parts of the board, leaving certain areas open to be targeted for a moment.
- Surf Strike (requires Surfboard) - The bottom of the surfboard (where the fin is) suddenly is covered in water, high enough to cover the entire fin and allows Meo to propel forward to do a quick blow as he rides the board. Not only is this a great move to catch an opponent quickly, Meo does pass through the opponent rather quickly and can actually pull off this maneuver many times in rapid succession. Another key fact is that if the area/environment has much moisture in the air, Meo can even pull off riding the board up walls vertically from the extra moisture that is able to be used.
- Board Stomp (requires Surfboard) - Riding the board once more, Meo manages to take to the sky for a quick moment using the water to bounce him and his board upward; bringing the board down on top of his opponent to crush him or her. Then after doing so, he does a back flip quickly and has his board back in hand from exerting more force on the opponent to perform the flip.
- Water Shotty (requires Surfboard) - Stomping his foot to make an orb of water to plop out of the ground, he swings his surfboard full force at the orb to make a blast outward similar to a shotgun. The water particles, however, are blunt but still do almost as much damage as a shotgun shot and is one of his easiest ranged attacks to perform.
- Surf Spinaroo (requires Surfboard) - Spinning quickly while clutching the fin of the surfboard, Meo throws his surfboard at his intended target. The edges of the surfboard are covered in a thick barrier of water to make sure the damage done by the surfboard boomerang is blunt damage and should make a nonlethal impact. After hitting the target, Meo is left unarmed until the board spins through the air and back to him.
- Aqua Wheel - If with the surfboard, Meo is able to perform a sideways spin while lying stomach first on the surfboard as he grinds against the opponent with the tip of the surfboard striking the opponent...being water layered around the edges as usual which is very similar to the Surf Spinaroo though has Meo clinging to the boomerang this time. Without a surfboard, Meo does a split in mid-air and spins rapidly sideways to land kick, after kick, with his own feet covered in water and Ki to add power to his blows. (similar to the Chun-Li kick but his upper body is horizontal to the ground as his lower body has his legs doing a split so that he can spin rapidly to attack...think of a wheel but in the middle of the wheel, Meo's torso is sticking out)
- Tear Grapple - Copying how a shark bites on a victim and tries to shred the target to pieces by wiggling the body, Meo quickly uses a one-handed grapple to firmly squeeze and pull at a part of the target's body. This grapple lasts only a moment since Meo's focus is to deal flat out physical pain to the opponent and quickly separates/backs off by kicking off the opponent's body.
- Piranha Flurry - Needing to be in close proximity to the opponent, Meo does a flurry of strikes to assault the target's vital areas and nerve points. His hands are pointed of sorts when doing this attack. (Basically think of Byakugan strikes but no creepy eye thingy)
Super Moves
- Duh Duh...Duh Duh... (requires Surfboard) - With the momentum on his side and there's a lot of moisture to be used in the air, Meo and his surfboard dive into the ground as if it was water. This can ONLY BE USED IN AREAS WITH A LOT OF HUMIDITY OR WATER IN THE AREA (like rain). A large shark shadow appears on the ground where they move to and once they find their target, the one who's in the jaws of the shark, is suddenly blasted into the sky as Meo and his surfboard do a sort of uppercut from underneath the victim.
- Here Comes the Big One! - When using a surfboard, Meo backs up a good 40 meters from his opponent (if space if provided) to perform this move. If there's not enough space, Meo can still perform this move if he rides his surfboard in a circle (similar to a person riding inside a graduated cylinder) or can use the space in between the target and himself to make a smaller wave version. When he is able to finish his ride/buildup, the wave accumulated will always be wide enough to cover the opponent or opponents...not only that but he makes sure he adds 10 feet of extra height and width to make sure for a guaranteed smash.
- ...Do I Smell Blood? - Whenever Meo is near blood and is able to not only visibly see it, but take a good smell/whiff of its scent, Meo enters a different type of personality similar to a shark. Not only does his personality get taken over, his Ki overflow starts to corrupt his body and begins to surround him in a dark-like aura as the shark inside him is released. Meo's appearance is suddenly twisted into a sickening grin with his teeth sharpening to that of a shark and his own hands becoming much more pointed at his finger tips. His blood lust, power and speed capabilities, and Ki amount increase greatly at the cost of his body becoming much more delicate to attacks. Simple attacks to even his chest is strong enough to already crack his ribs. This mode does modify all of his moves into harsher attacks such as Piranha Flurry becoming Shark Flurry and the like. The only way to calm down the Shark Mode is to knock him out, a strong odor to mess with his sense of smell, or to wait it out for a good 5 minutes. After using this mode, Meo completely forgot what happened from being a shark and is gravely tired to the point of barely passing out.
Weaknesses
- Dry Areas
- Can't Create Water --> Uses moisture mainly if not water present
- Can't stand the Cold
- Can't Smell Blood --> Immediately activates ...Do I Smell Blood?
- Village Responsibility First
- Confidence decreases greatly when surfboard broken
- Not many Long-Ranged strikes
- Wants to make friends out of fights
- Easily Saddened
Other
Meo's has a mother, father, and a younger sister back at the Philippines. He does know about the Filipino language (Tagalog) and the only other fact he knows that isn't related to marine knowledge is the code on a radio frequency to contact his home. The only equipment that he brought (well the items he set out with originally) is his surfboard, his shark tooth charm around his neck, and his own clothes.
