Description of power section is now yuuuge. Made the edits.

@Silver Carrot

I think they would at least tolerate each other. I think, yeah, co-exist is the right term.

@tipssyCalibrator

He has to be able to see the attack coming and be able to react to it. Anything moving sufficiently fast or from an angle he doesn't anticipate, he won't be able to stop. He also can only affect the density of an object for a while before he gets tired; keeping himself hardened isn't a reasonable thing for him to do. I could also write in that in his current state, he can't decrease the density of an object while increasing the density of another object, so he has to choose between increase his own density or decrease that of an incoming object, which adds more reaction time.
Could you be a little more specific with this question?

Rephrasing, are all the students waiting outside the institute before it opens, or is it like a boarding school type of deal where the higher year students stay in the school during the off period and as such are within school grounds before the first years get access to it?
Ooh, actually, a few more questions before I write up characters:

4. Presumably, the years are sorted by how long they've had their powers? Like, a 17 year-old person who's just manifested their power would be a first-year, while a 15 year-old who's had their power since they were 13 would be a third-year.

5. If I make a first-year, can it be assumed that they were just there with the rest of the first-years, not interacting with anyone or only interacting with NPCs?

6. Are higher-year students assumed to already be in the school already?
(Let's attempt to join an RP that's already well underway there's no way this could go wrong CondorTalon)

So, 3 questions:

1. Can I join still?
2. Hard cap on characters?
3. Has anything of note happened yet? If so, is there a short summary I could get?
Shuusuke was, quite honestly, tired of dark purple asymmetrical pentagons dotting his vision. Every time someone said those two words, "Strange Gospel", those shapes danced around in his eyes, and with how frequent those words were uttered in the past month or so, he was frankly getting tired of them.

Repetition was stale. Repetition was boring.

And speaking of repetition, there was that dream that he'd been having for a while, as well. He'd found himself in a blue and white room, confused as all hell. It kept happening, and Shuusuke couldn't figure out why... something had to have happened that his brain was fragmenting together; that's how dreams worked, after all. But Shuusuke couldn't even begin to think of what that could be.

Purple pentagons again. Shuusuke shook his head.

He absent-mindedly passed by the school gates, passing by two other students, talking about... something or other. Shuusuke picked up the words "pork, chicken or beef" before he realized that the conversation wasn't something he would be interested in.

Blue circle... red triangle.

Shuusuke scratched his head as he walked. Maybe he could stop by the convenience store... he was feeling a bit peckish, and he did have a bit of extra change. He nodded, deciding on this course of action, before taking a left where he would normally take a right. It was that much of a detour, anyway.

As he approached the store, he wondered whether it would be worth it to head to the arcade today. The new update was out, and Shuusuke did want to have a stab at the new songs, but he had been going to the arcade a lot recently, and he was a bit worried about his parents thinking that he was slacking. He snapped out of his thoughts just in time to narrowly avoid bumping into two girls standing just inside the store.

"Oops..." he said, sidestepping, "Sorry about-"

Who the hell put this display stand here?!

Shuusuke's foot caught on the bottom shelf, sending him tumbling down.

Quick. Clean.

At least he didn't knock anything else over.

@TheFake @Nerevarine
Name: Ieiri Shuusuke
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: "Stop talking in that ugly shade of brown, please."
Personality: Shuusuke is introverted and just a bit cynical. Shuusuke finds social interaction tiring, so he tries to prioritize quality over quantity. However, his early life was spent in the company of a bunch of "acquaintances" that didn't click with him. Because of this, he developed a cynical attitude when it came to interacting with people. He longs for good, deep interactions with someone; interactions that don't just boil down to small talk. Shuusuke is proficient in academics, especially in mathematics and hard sciences. Shuusuke is logical and calculating, always thinking through situations in terms of risk vs. reward. This way of thinking may alienate some people, especially those who value emotions over pragmatics, but Shuusuke couldn't care less. Shuusuke doesn't deal well with overly emotional people, anyway. Shuusuke is also a failed artist... in that he has a creative mind, but no outlet to realize this creativity. He can't draw, paint, or sculpt, and any music he tries to make always ends up scrapped within the day. Shuusuke has a nice singing voice, and enjoys singing, but doesn't think he can actually get anywhere with it.
Skills: Shuusuke is exceptional at calculation, pattern recognition, and logical problem solving. Due to a lifetime of being embroiled with numbers, functions, and calculations, Shuusuke can easily use his experiences to easily work his way through any problems he comes across. Despite his lack of athleticism, Shuusuke has good hand-eye coordination from a life of playing video games, especially rhythm games.
Equipment: His smartphone, his house keys, his wallet (containing ID, a debit card, a credit card, a few arcade cards, and an eAmuse card), and school supplies in his backpack.
Soul Arts: Prisma Falsum - Shuusuke can manipulate light on the visible spectrum, creating visual illusions. Shuusuke can use this ability to bend light around himself to make himself invisible, though he can only do this for short periods of time right now. As this ability develops, he will be able to become invisible for longer, create powerful flashes of light to disorient enemies, and even manipulate light outside the visible spectrum.
Brief Backstory: When Shuusuke was seven years old, he was diagnosed with sound-color synesthesia, which means that he sees faint colorful shapes whenever he hears sounds. Other than that, Shuusuke's childhood was nothing unusual. His parents worked middle-class jobs, and so Shuusuke lived a middle-class life. Shuusuke is an only child, and so he had to spend his time doing solitary activities, leading to his love of video games. His parents noticed his interest in math and science, and actively encouraged it, buying him books of brainteasers, logic puzzles and number puzzles. At elementary school, Shuusuke kept to himself. He had quite a few acquaintances, but none of them were people he'd truly call "friends".

This has not really changed in high school. Shuusuke continues to keep to himself, though he's not opposed to interaction. In fact, he wants nothing more than to be able to interact more and make friends, but since he gets overwhelmed easily whenever it happens, he has to spend time away from others just to recuperate.

Shuusuke downloaded Strange Gospel on a whim, just to see what the fuss was about. He didn't buy into the rumors, and when he saw the prediction of his future, he was able to convince himself that it was a huge coincidence. As soon as the creepy rumors surfaced about the app and its new update, he deleted it. He wasn't getting any use out of it anyway.
