”Uhh, ok.”

The words were like wind blowing through his ears. He wasn’t given the time to react properly when Donny suddenly pushed him into the cooking position. And he wasn’t even able to reject when the guy poured out a bunch of ingredients and handed out instruction in a verbal manner so unlike him that Acion thought he was possessed by some sort of dark side of his personality.

Ok, now what?

”Hollow out the pickle?” He scratched his head, wondering what the hell did he mean by that. Hollow meant creating holes, so he meant holing the pickles, at one end.

”This is definitely advanced level of cooking.”

And what could Acion made? What had he ever made? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Aside from instant ramen, or occasionally handle the cooker for his mother. His only cooking experience aside from that was watching Master Chef, and that was nearly 5 years away. But at least he could remember a scene when the leader of the team won the final prize with his grand dishes. He couldn’t remember the exact name, but it was something relating to pickles, and he also hollowed it. Perhaps he could take that as references.

Firstly, Acion took the kitchen knife that Donny gave him, placed the pickles on the cutting board, and began the process. It should be going well when…

”Hmm, this knife sucks…”

It was a pretty old knife, used for so many times that it had become blunt. Unfortunately, he did not have a sharpener here, so he couldn’t really renew it.

’Come on, move!’

It was refusing to move to his will, so Acion began applying more forces, trying to impale it through the pickle. It continued to be stubborn, so again, he pushed it harder and harder, until…

”HNNNGG!!!”

…he stabbed himself.

His mouth and vocal cord was signaled to scream, but his brain stopped it at the last possible moment. The last.

Looking around to see that no one was paying attention, he checked his injuries. Oh good…thanks to the knife’s crappiness, it only managed to slice off a peel of his skin, barely making it into the blood vein.

”Ok, we’re alright, we’re alright…” He calmed himself down.

To hell with this knife…

Having decided that he had taken it enough, and would not let his hand be a jumbled mess of blood and tears, Acion decided to rip out the feathers on his wings, and used it as a substitute.

”Ok…”

It turned out pretty well…

The pickles, although did not look artistic, with several knife marks in places where it should not have been there, at least was hollowed. Now to add in the peanut oil in the pan. He had several times looked at his mother doing it back when he was still a primary schooler, and now he was going to imitate whatever he had in his memories.

But as it turned out, he poured maybe a little too much

”Ok, ok. This shouldn’t be too bad.”

Until the pan came on fire.

As an immediate response, Acion flinged all the pickles into the plate as if it was some sort of throwing objects. And as it turned out, the frying was completed! Literally…for some reasons…

Halfway through, but as the peanut oil was scattered everywhere in his workstation, he had to put another layer. This time with more care. The second part was the mix. He was to heat up the cheese sauce and get it heated before mixing it with mustard. It was simple, and so was the practice. He could have sworn it was the easiest among all.

But damned him if Acion was right.

He wasn’t paying attention when the pan started to make pepping sound. The mix was placed on too much heat that it was beginning to burn.

’Oh shit…’

He hastily took a pan and pried all the mix out.

”Ok, ok. It is not badly burned…Calm down, the process is over.”

He’s not doing this again…ever…

The next few minutes were spent to finish up the dish, and then the taste. Picking one of his products and took a bite of it. His head plummeted the moment after.

It was edible, and not too bad, mediocre to some standards. But comparing to what he had eaten, it was not at all a nice dish.

”I seriously need a cook of my life…”

The trip back to school was considerably longer than usual. The route was pretty much the same, even shorter due to occasional shortcuts. But because there were so many things that left the winged-boy in a total mental mess to forget the sense of time. But eventually, the duo managed to get back to their place, their 'to be second home'. As they were walking back to the dorm, Acion noticed a certain commotion going on, but was soon dismissed by Mamoru's invitation to dinner, which was pretty much a large shout, mixed with her usual cheerfulness.

"Well, I guess we should not deny such invitations."

He turned to Roy, suggesting to go for it.

But Donny?

Acion didn't know he was doing this. Not that he denied that Donny was a good cook, but the fact that he was doing this for everyone made it quite weird. He definitely wasn't the confident type to host a dinner party. Or maybe he was just being the cook, while Mamoru, the energetic energy ball was the main character of the show. But to a normal person like Acion, it wouldn't hurt spending a few minutes there. It's a free dinner after all.

Acion ignored the commotion and instead headed upstairs, towards the kitchen, where he was at a few hours ago, at his more joyful state than this. There, he took notice of Michiko and Donny, who were cooking dinner, as much as he would expect. The girl was a good cook, so there would be no reasons why she should not be there.

"A pleasure to meet you again Michiko." He waved slightly, his voice notably less cheerful and prideful as the last time he met her. "And you as well Donny. It smells good. Didn't know you cook so well."

Roy had been walking through crowds moving his way towards the outskirts of town, soon the amount of people in the area thinned out. The boy felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, he raised an eyebrow must be Acion. He pulled his phone out his pocket and went into the messages app, his eyes scanned the screen from left to right like a typewriter. He turned around and quickly made his way in the other direction with urgency, he hold his phone tight not to drop it and began dialing the authorities phone number. He sliced through the crowd even sometimes jumping into the street just to make his towards Acion. “Yes its an emergency, send any law enforcement and fast. Hosu’s waterfront port.” Roys heart was beating fast as he wasn’t expecting a text like that from the boy but he spent no time taking action. Whatever was going on he prayed he wasn't too late.

Roy reached the port but it was difficult to pinpoint where Acion exactly was, POW! The blonde boy whipped his head in the direction before making his way towards their, adrenaline pumping through his veins he turned the alleyway just in time to see Acion pummeling the guy. Roy shouted “STOP!” he shouted at the winged boy, there was a small child on the ground laying in a small pool of blood. Roy quickly made his way over to him and took off his track jacket, underneath he had a white tank top, “Shit Shit Shit!”.

The boy cut off the sleeves on his track jacket and made a makeshift dressing to wrap around the middle schoolers arm with one sleeve. He then cut the other sleeve in half and used it to tie and apply pressure to the boys wound. He put his hand to the boys neck he could feel his heartbeat slowing, “Acion snap out of it, if you don't this kids not gonna make it!” he could hear the boy's heartbeat slowly fading. Soon the police sirens could be heard coming closer as Roy clenched the boy, blood seeping onto his tank top. He payed no mind soon the police showing up along with Metal head, the Iron hero. Soon loud stomps followed by smaller footsteps could be heard as the authorities got closer. The officers came and apprehended the villain and Acion as well. “Let go of the one with the wings he was just trying to defend this kid!” he shouted but they separated the two. Metal head moved over to Roy and the boy, the blonde boy looked up at the hero. “He won’t make it if we just sit around, he lost too much blood. We need to get him to the hospital quick!.” Roy said as the kids blood seeped onto his shirt and body. Metal head turned around,“Call for an ambulance” the man said.

Roy shook his head in anger before turning towards Acion who was slowly being carried away. “We are students of Komei Academy, Heroes in training. He can carry him to the hospital in time!”  the blonde said as he looked up at metal head and then over at Acion.  “He was just trying to protect him from that guy!” Metal head scowled at the boy before turning around and facing the police force. He looked at Acion, “Young man, you do realize what you have done don’t you? Combating another person with your quirk is strictly prohibited, even if they were up to bad behavior you don’t even have a license to do so. You could have been killed if he was dangerous! Even though you did take down the villain there is still an injury and it's all your fault! Leave it to the professionals next time!” Metal head turned around and made his way over to Roy, “I’ll take the boy from here” the man said. Roy almost didn’t want to hand the kid over but he had no other choice but comply with the authorities for the kids sake. Metal head made his way back to the police with the boy in hand. “You all are gonna have to come in for questioning” he said sternly.

After that moment, everything around him happened almost automatically. Before he even realized what he was doing, he had stopped unleashing his rage upon the guy. And then Roy came, then the police forces. Then he could feel two arms escorting him away. Roy shouting to stop them. And then Metal Head’s severe scolding. For some reason, his words Acion could hear very clearly. And each acted like a knife plunging into his soul, each competing to carve a slice into his guilt.

’Because that’s your fault.’ It wasn’t Metal Head’s words anymore. It was the words coming from his own conscience. It was Acion, his inner self, who was scolding himself.

Then he turned to look at the middle schooler. He was firmly transferred to Metal Head, his face pale, but to Acion’s brief relief, he was still breathing; the light, weak and slow movement on his chest was proof. But if Roy’s words were true, then the boy would die if he was not taken to the hospital in time. And the nearest hospital was in Braid. A 30 minutes drive at least. Not to mention that rush hour was coming. Traffic congestion was inevitable. Even if he was given transfusion on the ambulance, it may still be too late. No, it would definitely be too late. And if that really happened…

It would be a scar Acion would never be able to heal. An irony so bad he wouldn’t be able to live with. The destined hero that was supposed to protect people, turned out to be the one being protected. And the one he should be protecting, died before his eyes. And it was entirely his fault. He couldn’t blame anyone else for that guy waking up and pulled out a gun to shoot at him. He was careless. He didn’t realize what he was doing. So who could he shift the blame to?

Nobody but himself…

’No!’ His fist clenched tightly.

It was him that caused this to happen. So he must fix it. Nobody could take that responsibility for him.

He had to do it!

He had to save that boy!

”Wait! My friend here is right. I can carry him to the nearest hospital. I can fly him there! Or else it will be too late!”

Metal head stopped for a second, “And why exactly should I leave you with this boy after what happened while you were with him before? Being a hero isn’t a game this is real life, a false move can lead to a mess.” Roy then got to his feet, “At least give him a chance to fix his mess, if you let that kid bleed out and die you will surely scar him so bad.” the boy looked over at Acion and looked into his eyes. He could visibly see that Acion was taking it rough.

Metal head growled a bit, the odds were right. For the ambulance to come here and make its way back to the hospital were too long. He walked over to Acion, “Do you really think you have what it takes, if he dies in your hands you will be the one to blame for his death” the man said looking at the boy.

...you will be the one to blame.

The words echoed into his mind. And bounced back.

’I was the one to be blamed after all. Even if not on paper, people would always know that.’ He punched himself mentally. So what even matters if it was on paper instead.

Acion looked back at Metal Head, his guilt still overwhelming him, but replied with a decisive tone, mustering all he had at that very moment.

”I may, I may not. But I know for sure you don’t have it here, at the moment. And after all, it is, as you said, my fault for his injuries. So it is my responsibility. To take this kid to safety.”

Metal head smirked, “Good answer, let him go boys.” The man said, the police were confused but slowly released the kid. “You have one shot at this alright, once you drop the boy there will be policemen at the hospital to take you to the station for questioning. If you screw up you and I are going to be blamed for this” the man said handing the boy over to Acion. The winged boy just nodded before stretching his wings, he held the boy tight before taking off into the air at high speeds. Roy looked up at Acion who soon disappeared in view, “You are going to have to give  your statement. Come with us” the blonde boy just smirked. “Certainly metal head” he said as he complied with the pro jumping into a cop car and heading for the station.

Acion received the boy from Metal Head, as he inclined his head once before flying up, heading for the direction of Braid hospital. His guilt was still eating him, but at least he felt a bit better. Enough to clear his mind of everything else but the objective before him: Get this boy there as fast as possible.

It was only a minute into the flight, and yet Acion was already reached his top speed. Not the actual top speed, since he was flying with only four wings. The two other was covering for this poor boy from the wind that could potentially stress out his life when he was still in the air. If he maintained this speed, he would be there in less than five minutes. Hopefully, he could still make it.

No, he had to make it!

This kid, even if he was quirkless, was a real life hero. He had tremendous determination. He had limitless courage. He had unlimited selflessness. And he saved Acion himself. If Acion failed to save him, then it wasn’t just the matter of humility nor responsibility...

He would be broken beyond repair.

And what had to come, had to come. Acion arrived at the hospital entrance all according to his calculation. Four minutes and twelve seconds. Every seconds for him felt like medium-eternity. As he handed him to the hospital staff, he was both relieved, to see him still breathing, but worried, and self-resented, to think that he could still not make it. He could have stayed out there until he could receive the news of him. But according to Metal Head, he was to be escorted to the police station after this, for questioning. And protocols weren’t there for nothing.

Complying to what Metal Head had said, he simply turned himself in after the delivery.

The police took Acion, Roy, and the criminal to the police station where the two boys were questioned. Both kids were identified, the called Roys mother and Acions sister to inform them of what happened that day. Neither of their family members were happy, Roy got an earful but it was mostly her being scared for him. “Yeah I am alright, just covered in blood, No not my blood. Yeah I’ll wash extra good” Roy said rolling his eyes as he talked to his mom on the phone. Soon Metal Head arrived with his usual grimace,

“I have good news and bad news. The good news is  he made it in time. A moment sooner and it would have been too late. Thanks to makeshift wound dressing and Acion’s flying ability he got there in time for emergency surgery they say he is going to be fine...As for the bad news, Acion still violated the law and attacked this man but he also saved a law. There will be repercussions for your actions as well as mine for allowing you to take the child. I contacted Komei and they said you will be on probation meaning you won’t be able to leave campus as freely as you did today and you will also have a curfew. You two must also not speak of what happened to anyone as I am taking the brunt of the situation. The use of quirks openly is a subject thats already on thin ice, this is for the sake of the people.” The man said with a straight face.

Just like after the fight, everything again happened automatically for Acion. Probably the only thing that could actually relieve his own fear and stress that was bottling up within him as fast as a bullet train, was the fact that the boy was saved. Just in time. But on the downside, he was given a curfew, and needed to ask for the school staff’s permission to go off campus. That was pretty serious, but at least it wasn’t anything too bad. After the guy finished, a phone call was made.

Sky Knight’s HQ

’God...’

For all the fame and glory of the Sky Knight, and this is what she gets for an office as an HQ? It’s so humid and...claustrophobic!

But it couldn’t be helped. Getting a deal from the military was not an easy task. Even if they were pros, doesn’t mean they would be able to possess legit lethal weapons or confidential infrastructures of these people. Surely, they were given some freedom and rights as pros in Hosu, but the military was a different story. However, the other options were simply too expensive. The Sky Knights had a fair amount of members, and not all of them were poor broken ass. Hell, Aurelia was rich as well. But to equip themselves with expensive radars and computers...just was a bit too much. A lending of infrastructure was a far better option, although the argument for it was long and tedious.

Still, she was not giving up. For her goal was to get herself and the teams on that ‘thing’. The ‘thing’ that had been sitting in the hangar for so long, it might be rotting in there. She would get everyone to step on it, and fly it to the Earth’s end, extinguishing all villainy. The journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step. And she was one step closer to it.

Aurelia sat down on her desk at the center of the room, as she laid her back on her chair, cracking her knuckles, preparing to finish up all the reports of the patrols she had been doing recently. She was about to began her work when the phone rang.

”Now who…” She asked herself as she take a look. ”Acion?”

She took the call immediately.

”Acion, how’s my hopeless little brother?” She said jokingly. ’Yeah...yeah… Her expressions normalized. And then…

”YOU DID WHAT?!?!?!”

She screamed, punching the desk so hard and loud, that caught the attention of everyone outside the room.

”You’re telling me that you get into trouble with the police because you are trying to save the middle schooler from a total maniac. Oohhh, these people. I’m gonna get a petition to the court for this!” She said angrily, but as the voice from the other side explained, her expression and tone turned differently

”What do you mean the boy was critically injured because of you?” She conceded.

Sweet ever loving God…

On the first day?!

”So what’s gonna happen to you?” She listened as her brother explained.

”You’re on a curfew? So it’s not gonna affect your credits, or your hero records? Or me? Oh that’s so lucky of you…” She said sarcastically. Or not really. She once got into way less trouble than that in terms of severity when she was in Komei, and yet what she received was more severe.

Her tone was grumpy and impatient, but as his brother continued on, she finally cooled down. For she had realized how much unnecessity of what she just said.

”You’re out now?” She asked, as the voice continued, the resentment could be felt. ”Ok, I get it. I’ll see you later.”

She said her finals, as Acion hung up.

’Damn…’ She sighed

”Is everything alright, Au?” A man with jet-black hair, around her age, opened the door, looking a little bit concerned as she took notice of her expression.

”Just family business. It’s nothing.”

”Your brother?” He hit right on spot, as she sank a little.

”Well...yeah. How did you know?”

”Every time you talk about family, you talk about him, so I just take a guess.”

She scratched her head, a little bit embarrassed. ”Say, do we have any work to do tomorrow, or the day after?”

”We do. And in fact, a lot.” He said, as her face showed disappointment. ”Now is the height of criminal activities, so we must remain on standby and ready for action at all time. And besides, there’s still him. You know him...”

”The Sword Saint…”

”Yes. And he is still out there. Somewhere. We have combed the city for like, more than ten times and we still cannot track down him nor any of his allies or servants.”

”We’ll get him eventually. He can’t hide forever. But I hope that the price to pay for his capture...was not another man’s life.”

Both of them inclined their heads lightly at that, and gave a silent pray. But back to the problem. She was pretty busy the next day. Morning patrol, afternoon paperwork and stuff. The only time she would be left off would be during the evening, when her shift was lifted for another one to take the job. But she obviously couldn’t wait until tomorrow night.

Acion hung up the phone. And naturally, he was released from the police after all procedure was completed. As it turned out, he was dismissed of all credits relating to the incident, and that there were a curfew imposed on him. But at least everything worked out. The kid was safe, the criminal was apprehended. The final goal was achieved.

But there were one particular person who hadn’t gotten over it.

And who else...

’That kid is injured because of you, you fool! You should’ve seen him coming. But you didn’t!’

The winged boy sighed heavily, at his own soul mocking himself.

’But that was also beyond my ability to foresee.’

‘Did you just accept that all of this happened because of nature. That you cannot do anything to stop it?!

That it is thus fate?

It shouldn’t be.

He was on the right path. He knew he was on the right path. So why must this happen?

Acion clutched his forehead tightly, his finger dug into it, as he gave another sigh.

After getting off the phone with his mother Roy changed out of his bloody clothes and donned a Hosu police T-shirt. The prior clothes were placed in a bag and exposed of by the authorities. He shivered now thinking how he was completely covered in a stranger's blood. I am one bad man, I can't believe I was soaked in someone else's.. the boy shook his head before heading over to Acion who seemed to have been taking it rough. Roy understood why exactly why, the winged boy was so prideful that a slip up like that would topple his world. He walked over to Acion and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“Look...mistakes happen. But ultimately it's your choice if you want to loathe in them forever or learn from them. If you didn't pop up that middle schooler would have been toast most likely and we would have never knew.”

Roy balled his hand up in a fist and gritted his teeth, this is what Ms Mako was trying to prepare him for. The real world once they leave school isn't forgiving, the two boy got lucky today. The boy’s grip on Acion got tighter.

“It's okay to be mad but don't beat yourself yourself up about it. You were able to get a second chance and fix the mistake you made! You saved his life when everyone else couldn't! We all had to depend on you in the end!”

Roy was shaking the boy aggressively and shouting. He dropped his head and thought back to when he was a hopeless kid. It was pitiful the state he was in and only one person seemed to care if he got better. He wasn't acknowledged by others much, he didn't even know who his dad was. They just knew him as a walking mistake who only survived because of his dependence on others.

He let go of Acion as he realized that he must have been singing the boys shirt slightly, and lifted his head up with a fiery glare.

“That villain would have still been on the loose and that boy would have been dead if you didn't man up. I don't care what metal head or the police say. You were definitely a hero today.” Roy walked forward and stretched a bit. “What's your choice Acion, sink or swim.” The boy turned around with a stoic face.

’You were definitely a hero…’

The words were finding its way into him.

He really did save the boy.

But what mattered was that he caused more than he should.

However, if he wasn’t really there during that hour, he surely would have been dead. Then he should have been satisfied that he had done the job. The threat was the man, and he eliminated him, and saved the boy from his peril. That was exactly what happened. He had done his job correctly

Then why does it still hurt? His heart…

Mistakes do happen, like Roy said. But to Acion, that was to make himself better, to learn from, so that he would not make the same mistake during the real thing: the time that mistakes shouldn’t have occurred. And that was exactly that time. And he screwed up.

It was all according to his so-called destiny. Until now. When everything suddenly turned for the worst.

The winged boy clutched his forehead again. Obviously, the slip up were powerful enough to trigger an entire internal warfare between himself and his own conscience. Between himself, and his own ideals.

’Is everything I’ve been building up until now is all good-for-nothing?’

’Of course. You messed up what you think is destined to succeed.’

‘But in that case...isn’t everything already set up. By the divines? By God?’

Then he is destined to fail?

That can’t be right...

Its either that…or there is no such thing as destiny.

But that would go entirely against his father’s teachings...for all these years…

It couldn’t be…He was the son of the Fortress and Whiteswan. He was said to be one of the chosen. Was his father wrong all the time?

“What's your choice Acion, sink or swim.”

Roy’s next words knocked him back to his senses.

”You ask questions that sounds like answers…You know that I cannot choose the former.”

His tone was unreadable.

He was right though.

Acion had two options. To either dwell on it, or get over it.

”Let’s go back…” Again, his tone still contained self-resentment. But he had felt much better.

For he had gotten someone that recognized him. As the one he should be striving for.

He began walking down the street, leading to Komei, again, leading the way.

”Thank you…”

He muttered. To Roy. Whether he could hear it or not, Acion did not know…

Roy put his hands behind his head, “Highschool isn't anything like it is on Tv, it's a lot more interesting.” He said as he put his hands behind his head. “You owe me a new track jacket, that was my favorite...if you really want to be thankful.” Roy said smirking after picking up the mumbling from Acion.

Roy Kusayanagi
Acion Nakamiji

”Well, if you’re here with him, then I’m pretty sure our path will cross again. I’ll see you later.” He gave a light smile as he left the room with Roy.

Michiko simply waved goodbye to Acion and Roy as they left and looked back to Donny with a big inviting smile.

Wow…

He wondered how that went. He had tried his best to keep the flowery words out of his speech. It surely was not as hard, but sometimes, the phrase just slipped out of his mouth almost instinctively.

But then he wondered...does everyone do not like such speech? Or was it something else that displeased people? From Mina, to Dulga. Even Kaida at the time they met wasn’t acting well either.

Acion shook his head.

’Now’s not the time for that.’ He thought.

Looking to Roy, who had been accepting to do him the favor without really knowing what was up, he would have to explain this to him.

”You are probably wondering about it. Well, there is a certain presentation for my elective, Quirk Application, that requires a video footage or images of me using quirks in real life. Basically evidence. And since that is quite a hassle to do by myself. So if you would mind...” Acion took out his iPhone, as a hint. ”...filming, or taking pictures of me.”

Roy looked at the boy as he explained why he needed his help, “If that's all sure why not, but do you have exactly what in mind you can do using your quirk in real life?” Roy asked questioning the boy. Maybe he could grab a balloon for a boy or get a kitten out of a tree? “What do you think would show the best use of your quirk is what I am trying to ask” he asked as he began eating the cookie in his hand before it got cold. “An assignment like that on the first day? Your teacher must hate you” Roy said chuckling. “Well if we go into the city we will find something, lead the way Acion” he said. “You want me to use it with your phone?” The boy asked

”Well, I actually have a thing. There’s a treeline, very tall and bushy, down the Waterfront Street. I saw a lot of workers there to cut the branches with trucks to carry them up high. So that will probably do.”

And then Roy asked if he wanted to use the phone. Well, if he exerted a little of his expense, he could afford a small but high definition camera. Though at the cost of that, he would be spending a month or two eating Ramen noodle for meals. So probably not.

”I think the phone is fine. Mediocre enough. I was gonna fly you there, but I figured you would want to exercise.” Acion said, as he glanced Roy and his suit up and down. ”Well, I would love a proper hike. Necessary exercise for what my preordained path to professional heroism. Let’s go, shall we?”

The street down Waterfront wasn’t in its full glory, but one could feel the hastiness and rushing of the upcoming hours, as a few individuals with their shifts ended early were coming down the streets for their personal commutes, while the blazing sun continued to illuminate Hosu for the remainder of the day, as its shift was also about to come to a close.

”Here we are...a good hike wasn’t it? Now we should find those people. They’re almost always here, so we will almost definitely encounter one if we comb this street.”

Roy smirked as Acion bashed his phone, “Sorry i'm not part of a famous and wealthy family” he then proposed the two of them jog. Roy stretched his limbs as he nodded in agreement, the two made their way over by the waterfront jogging. Over time and exposure to the sun Roy absorbed some solar energy and also worked up a light sweat, the two ran some distance, enough to work up a light sweat with the sun beating down on them. As they stopped Roy took deep breaths to slow his heart rate back to normal. “Searching for workers huh, shouldn’t be too hard, we just have to look for trucks and construction gear” Roy said and he held his head above his head to block the sun and look around.

“I am gonna look up the street, we should swap numbers and text each other if something happens” Roy said as he handed Acion his phone to put his number. The boy then made his way up the street disappearing into the crowd.of people coming.

”That’s a good idea.” Acion said, as he handed him his phone, while taking his to add in the number.

Damn…

Roy was still using the old schooled Android phone? That thing was like, ten years old already.

He did have to spend a few moments of hesitation and scratching his head, figuring out the keypad. But eventually, he was able to get it out and done. The touchpad was still great, so he didn’t have much problem except for the navigation part.

”There we have it. Keep me contact. After this, if you require anything, just send me a message.”

As they both arrived in the middle part of the street, Acion and Roy parted ways, with the winged boy taking the left part of the street, while the blonde taking the other way.

His route was quite short, shorter than he would expect, as the road ended at the riverbank, with a port buzzing with people and workers coming; ships and ports demonstrated their dominance in the landscape, and served as a reminder of the recent Industrial and Technological Revolution. But because of that, there were many alleyways, and the treelines came to an end early, as the trees couldn’t be placed there. And to his disappointment, there weren’t any tree cutting trucks or anyone looking like they were working as tree cutters.

”Better head back…”

Just as he was about to do what he said he would do, a sudden, and seemingly terrified shout caught into his ears. The sound was small, and desperate to reach out to any possible passerby that actually took the attention and inconvenience to check it out.

’What the hell is happening in there?’ Acion thought to himself, as he traced the origin of the sound.

It was among an alleyway. There wasn’t anything within sight, so it might be deeper within it.

Acion decided to stop his current course of action to check out what was happening. And there, the image edging deep into his fovea, was the sight of a dark haired man, wearing some sort of mask that covered most of his lower faces, his hand holding a stone club, as he cornered a middle schooler, who carried the misfortune of encountering him in this shortcut.

“What a little pipsqueak. You think you can get away with a funny look at my little brother, don’t you? Kids like you do not have the privilege to wear that uniform of that school. That is the school for quirk-sensitives! You are not!”

“B-But-”

“Do I make myself clear?!” He slammed the club into the wall, cracking it. “Kids like you should not even exist in this world. Doing nothing but consuming your pathetic food, and doing your pathetic works. Utterly useless! In this world, without quirks, you are nothing. Nothing but trash! And you know, trash shouldn’t linger with us humans…”

The guy finished as he slowly approached the student, his hand clenched tightly into his stone club. Just as he was about to smash the head of the middle schooler into a splattered little mess, Acion approached him, with countenance so disgusted,an image of him slashing this guy into tiny little pieces briefly flashed through his head. He dismissed that thought eventually, but still, after having it enough throughout his wicked speech, the winged boy quickly took out the phone in his pocket and quickly composed a text message to Roy.

‘Call the cops. There’s trouble. In the alleyway next to the port.”

The text was made hastily, with sentences not very complete, but it would be enough so that he could get the message. After he was done, the winged boy slowly approached him

”Enough of this.” He spoke, grabbing the attention of both the attacker and the victim.

“Watch it pal. What’s your problem? This is my business!” He retaliated.

”I’m not your pal. And I should be the one asking that question. Who do you think you are to dictate one’s life path like that? You call them trash? Trust me, you are mistaken. That’s your slot.”

“And who do you think you are to stop me?!”

Acion sighed heavily.

’Such a puny little rat.’

”I guess I will have to show you how to behave. Just like the dog you are.” Acion said, his voice stern and harsh, as his six wings began to spread out, in all directions. Just like in previous combat scenarios, this was challenge. And all according to his expectation, the guy got that very well. Or pretty badly, for him

“You challenge me?! You think you got what it takes?...” The masked boy also spread his two hands, and as if according to his command, the stone from the cracked wall and the club were liquified, only to form back in his palm as weapons. And in his case, a certain kind of weapon known as the glaive

“Impressed yet? Just wait until I chop all your wings off, and cut you into tiny little pieces.”

The guy taunted Acion, but the only reply he would receive, was a low, barely audible, condescending laugh from the winged boy, as he stared at him intensely

”I just need two moves. To teach you a lesson you won’t forget!”

For a moment, there was only silence, as the words that soaked with threats echoed into the blowing winds, as Acion stood firmly on the ground, straight, undaunted and intense, letting the power of his words to carve into his mind.

And then suddenly, Acion crouched down on one knee, as his hand positioned similarly to a runner’s position. A combination of his two legs and his six wings had ensured him a massive throttle, as he charged at the boy at an incredible velocity. But as Acion was a bit far away, the boy was given enough time to prepare. For a seemingly obvious move, which never came.

As the boy’s weapon was short-ranged, and that Acion was moving at incredible high speed, his only option was to hold the weapon right in front of him, and predict where his attack would land. But as Acion got closer, his body suddenly turned. He slammed his foot on the ground, combining with the might of some of his wings, throttled him up a few meters into the air, his body turning sideways as he flew above his enemy. During that short moment above his adversary, he executed his iconic move, the ‘1000 feather flaps’, sending razor sharp feathers crashing down upon the man. Sharp feathers made contact with his skin, blood began to spill from his veins where it met.

Sent head-over-heels by the earth-cracking attack, the boy instinctively let go of the weapon to clutch his injuries. And as he was doing so, Acion had already recovered from his previous move, landing gracefully behind the guy, as he then proceeded to execute another one. While the guy was still not in his senses, Acion closed his distance with him from behind, grabbing him by the waist and shoulder for padding, as he proceeded to boost himself up, his body turned, his two legs clutched tightly into his neck like a scissor, toppling him off balance. With his central of gravity shifted off him, Acion then slammed his head into the concrete ground using his leg power. Acion also fell from his own attack, but his fall was an active fall, easy to get up, and easy to recover. On the other hand, the man couldn’t. He laid flatly on the ground where his colossal body met the hard concrete, still breathing, but motionless.

”Hmmph. Acion scoffed as he stood up. ”Such a shame. You have such a powerful quirk and you use it for villainy. And thus is your fate.”

May he rot in his own delusional reality.

After finishing with this guy, Acion turned to look at the middle schooler, who was watching the whole fight on the sideline. His expression no longer held fear or terror. Instead, he was just as excited like a kid in a candy store.

“Mister. That was so cool!”

Acion’s mood was lifted by the day.

”Heh. I wonder...” He chuckled ”Still, I want to know why you are in a place like this? It’s not safe for middle schoolers, you know.”

“I-I…” He whimpered a little at that. “I wanted to take a shortcut home...to avoid my friends at school.”

Acion’s attitude changed swiftly, to confusion. ”Why avoid them?...” But then the confusion turned to understanding. ”Was it because you are quirkless?”

The middle schooler inclined his head lightly, and shamefully, his fear returned, fearing that Acion would also look at him the same way as people did. But contrary to his expectation, the winged boy simply laughed, genuinely and heartily, harboring no ill-intentions.

”Then do you want to be a hero?”

“Yes I do, mister! I want to become a strong hero to protect everyone!” His fear dissolved, replaced by simple and pure determination.

”Then you’re on your way.” He said kindly.

“But how can I do that if I don’t have a quirk?”

”You don’t need a quirk.” Acion said in a fatherly tone, encouraging and kind. ”Have you ever heard of Alfa, a professional hero in the Sky Knight group. He is also quirkless, using only his jet sword to fight. There are living proof of professional heroes out there who don’t need a quirk to fight villainy and help other people. And if you try your best, you can be the next in line.”

“But what if I have tried my best, but cannot become a pro?”

”God does not tremble on those with pure minds like you.” He said. ”Once you got your heads right, your path will reveal itself. And once you realize your destiny, it is only a matter of preparations, and time.”

“Then will I succeed?”

Acion gave one big smile, one rarely seen before by him. ”Yes you will.”

“Then I will try my best to become strong! So that I can protect everyone, just like how you did to me!”

The winged boy laughed again, as he gently patted the head of the middle schooler. To him, seeing people doing things with a cause, with a reason, and with a proper and pure-hearted motivation just like this little kid was the best. That’s the reason why he loved small kids. Their path, their goals were so pure, naive but pure, and clear. In their world, there’s only black and white, unplagued by the wickedness of reality. Only a few could carry on that determination to adulthood.

But all of a sudden, all that cheerfulness, all that smile on his face vanished in an instant, replaced by the same terror that Acion had seen earlier, as his eyes stared, not at the winged boy, but at the person behind him.

“Mister! Look out!!!”

And the middle schooler jumped right in front of the winged boy. Still confused over the sudden course of action, Acion soon realized...that the man was still conscious.

And he had a gun in his hand…

He couldn’t remember what happened afterwards.

He wasn’t sure. But before he realized it, his face was splattered with blood. The three left wings were also stained. The same could be said for his fist.

And he was on top of the masked man, pinning him on the ground. His fists preparing to crash onto his face one more time.

Right behind him, was the middle schooler, lying in a pool of his own blood coming from his arm. Not dead, but barely keeping himself either

He was shot…

Because of Acion’s carelessness.

Roy Kusayanagi
Acion Nakamiji
Michiko Yashiro

Acion was trying to find the room he was in when he heard a voice coming from his right. Turning his head to the said direction, a familiar face was immediately recognized, along with a seemingly sarcastic remark.

”Icarus?” Whether or not Roy meant it, Acion wasn’t very pleased. ”You want me to fall out of the sky?”

According to the myth, it was Icarus’s carelessness and arrogance that led to his untimely, slow and painful doom: drowned in the Icarian. From that on, people had considered that to be the saddest myth ever, and that Icarus was a sign of unluckiness. For that, having been called with that name...was kind of unpleasant.

But did the guy really mean it?

Nevermind…

It wouldn’t meddle with his path anyway.

”I’m in room 2.3 it seems.”

Roy raised a eyebrow as Acion thought too deep about the subject. He could see it on his face as he questioned the boy if he wanted him to fall out the sky. He then said that he was in the same room as the boy, though Roy really began questioning if he wanted to be in the same dorm as Acion.

“Looks like we are roommates then, I guess you lucked out. I don't necessarily make a lot of noise or keep the room messy.” Roy smirked, as he walked ahead to the room opening the door. “This is pretty cool don't you think? Having your own room and learning how to become a hero?” Roy said as he took the bed made for him. The other bed was larger and modified for Acion’s physiology, “and no I didn't mean that Icarus thing” Roy said to put the boy at ease. The boy began unpacking his belongings and placing them accordingly along with a command hook against the wall for his cloak. He took off his uniform and fixed it in the closet along with his other uniforms. He took out an adidas track jacket, some gym shorts, and some running shoes. “Since we are gonna be roommates for the year we should get to know each other better”

So he’s gonna spend a full year with him. Well, sure. Acion didn’t have much problems with him, perhaps didn’t have any, since Roy wasn’t that annoying Jett, nor he was that grumpy and overly-reactive Ezra. He was much more tolerable, and appeared to be a simple and friendly guy. And that’s great. The fact that he was on the path to becoming a true hero didn’t really matter, as it appeared that everyone was the same anyway.

”Yes, and it appears that my request has not been taken lightly.” Acion said as he gazed over his own bed. It was large, large enough so that he does not have any sort of problems with his wings colliding with other stuff. That other stuff is mostly people.

Oh, the memories. Of nearly being kicked out of the room, and switched to a single room back in middle school, because of his tendency to flap wings instinctively when he was sleeping, causing not so little number of injuries. A bad habit that he still retained until now. Hopefully, with this new bed, he would not flow into the old path once more. Nor that Roy would be able to notice that habit of his. Let’s hope that he was an early sleeper.

As Roy was settling into his own room, Acion did the same. He was told by the school staff that his stuff had already been transferred there. It indeed was. But by whom, he did not know, until he came to a stack of box that was placed at the corner. The top most box had a tag attached.

‘I’ve got the guys to help you with the stuffs, so that you don’t have to do it by yourself. Just focus on your studies and training.’

And the acronym below the line

‘Au’

And the terrible dribble of the TIE Defender from Star Wars.

’Geez’

She loved that series so much huh?

Acion gave a small laugh at that, as he began to put away his stuff to where it should be. Noticing that his roommate, Roy, was sporting a stylish pair of shoes and a sporting attire, Acion couldn’t help but actually get his feet up.

”Of course. Let us make progress as we go.”

Roy closed his dresser and slid the empty suitcases under his bed, he switched clothes and began lacing up his runners. “So what do you have planned for his afternoon?” Roy asked as he pulled tight in his shoe strings before making a bow. “My afternoon is pretty much open, though if there was something I wanted to do. I want to get some of those cookies that I smelled downstairs.” The boy moved onto the other shoe before standing up and straightening his track jacket and gym shorts. He quickly fixed his hair in the mirror before getting ready to go back down. “I am gonna go check out that cookie smell” he said as he made his way back to the lobby rubbing his hands together.

As he walked into the  kitchen he saw a rather very attractive girl there with cookies. His pace slowed as he began walking slower, she didn't appear to be sporting the Komei academy uniform either nor had he seen her before. The class 1-A boarding house was supposed to contain only students of that class. “Hey, are you in the wrong house? You don't seem to be wearing the Komei Academy uniform either...buuutt you do have those deliciously smelling cookies so I'll let it slide. The name is Roy Kusayanagi, Class 1-A hero course.” He said with a smile at the girl, Mann did it feel good saying he was in the Hero course. It definitely had a different feel from the average Joe general studies title. “What year are you in because this is my first time meeting you?” Roy said as he took a seat at a table.

“There are cookies?”

He’s right.

There were indeed odors of something fresh and pleasant, apparently coming from the kitchen downstair. The smell that he could relate to, months ago, possibly years ago, to the memories that was hidden deep in the hollows that he missed so much.

Just a year more, then he would be able to relive that moment as much as he wanted...

While the winged boy was busy dealing with the shards of his memories, Roy had already gone ahead of him.

”Hey wait.”

He sped up after him, briefly losing track of him as he headed downstair.

”This guy’s fast…”

But Acion knew his destination already. He paced down towards the kitchen as well, figuring that Roy would be there, as well as following the smell as well. There, he noticed a fairly young, and pretty girl standing there along with a tray of cookies, with the blonde guy sitting on the table. She wasn’t wearing Komei’s uniform, and she looked rather young, comparing to both Roy and Acion. He couldn’t help but wonder her identity. However, the facial traits, her eyes looked somewhat similar to a guy he had once talked to.

”Oh greetings.” He said simply, as he stood outside the kitchen, peering into the room.
Michiko smiled when one of her fellow dorm mates walked into the kitchen. Though a surprised look came upon her face as the boy said she was in the wrong dorm. Also the fact she wasn’t in uniform.

”So says the boy not in uniform….” She said with a small smile and her head tilted to the side ever so slightly. ”Is there a rule that says that only guys can walk around out of their uniform after school? Hardly seems fair doesn’t it? She of course wasn’t a student but she felt she wanted to mess with him a bit. He seemed so proud that he was in the Hero class...it was kinda funny. Seeing how A classes were all Hero classes.

I was moved from 3-A to here just a bit ago. Apparently the principal decided that you guys could use some help from someone with real battle experience outside of school. She smiled sweetly with an ‘as matter of fact’ look on her face. Of course, that was her brother the principal spoke about. While she did have some of her own fights, Takeshi would have been considered a hardened veteran by most standards. She placed the tray in front of Roy and said sweetly. “I’m Yashiro Michiko, It’s a pleasure to meet you Kusayangi-kun.”

She sounded far more mature than she looked. The way she carried herself and how she spoke. She looked to see another boy with six wings, standing at the edge of the kitchen. A surprised look on his face at seeing her. Though he simply said greetings, she smiled and motioned to the table before holding her hands together in front of her skirt. “Hello. Please come on over. I don’t bite….Hard.” She giggled “I baked these cookies for all of you, please feel free to have some.”

Roy smirked when she said he wasn't in uniform either,  she was pretty perceptive. “Caught me red handed” he replied back. She then went on to asking about the rules about uniform teasing the boy. “Alright you win” he said putting his hands up surrendering. She then explained that she was a transfer from 3-1 and that we could use some help from someone with battle experience.

“So you must be pretty good then huh” Roy said, this girl may not have seen like much more than a pretty face but big things come in small packages. He scratched the side of his head where he was kicked. “Well I can't wait to see what you can do then” he said as the girl placed the fresh cookies in front of him. “Thank you for the food” Roy said as he took the cookie, it was warm and fresh. He took a bite and it practically melted in his mouth. The boys eyes opened wide as he unconsciously made his way towards another one but stopped himself by grabbing his arm. “These cookies are really good, Id pay you to make me a bucket full of these” Roy said chewing on the rest of the first cookie.

”For us? How honored...”

If he was invited, why not deny such an honest offer?

As the girl and Roy conversed, Acion simply walked to the table and took a seat, his wings carefully wrapped around him, so as not to accidentally hit Michiko, Roy, or the infrastructures around him. He had learnt to be careful enough, and utilize every gaps so that he could place his wings, so that it wouldn’t cause any possible injuries.

Picking up a cookie from the bowl that Michiko placed on that table, still hot, fresh and crunchy, he took a bite, devouring half of the cookie. Before he realized it, his eyes had widened as wide just as Roy.

”Hmmm!”

The taste. The sweetness. The crunchiness. It was perfectly synched. Nothing was untouched, and nothing was overboard. It was a perfect piece of culinary masterpiece.

”You know. The cookie is not good.” Acion was tempting to take another and another for a bite, but he had to give her this first. He finished the cookie and looked into her. ”It’s fantastic. You are indeed an adept chef...Michiko”

‘...Yashiro.’ Acion finished his sentence mentally.

He had heard that name before.

”...Do you mind if I ask? Are you and Takeshi Yashiro related?”

She chuckled at Roy surrendering, then only tilted her head to the side and shrugged with a smirk when he said she must be really good. She was an adept fighter, but nothing compared to her brothers. She then just said. I have some first hand experience. That's all. It was an understatement, as the way they trained was as if their life depended on it….which for her brothers it truly meant that at times.

She smiled at both of them when they complemented her baking. Though Acion did through her for a scare with his wording at first. She didn’t realize her hand was clenched in a fist till after he added on that it was fantastic.Awww Thank you… I Enjoy baking so much. But I might take you up on that offer Kusayangi-kun She said while shrugging her shoulders with a bright smile.

Acion mentioned her brother and asked if she was related. She looked at him and said,“Don’t need my permission if you ask anyways.” She said with a smile. But she nodded,“Takeshi is my brother. He is here somewhere finding our room.”

She looked at Acion intently, studying his eyes, his facial features. Deep in thought clearly as if she was trying to figure something out, going through the ‘files’ in her head till suddenly she asked. You’re...related to the Sky Defender….Aurelia Nakamiji correct?

”Correct. I’m in your position, her younger brother, Acion Nakamiji. Though she and I have a larger age gap. If you talk about her skills, she is indeed a goddess. But I’m surprised you figured it without knowing my name.”

Well, Aurelia did look similar to Acion in some ways. And by some ways, it was many ways. Many, many ways.

When said so, Acion did not exactly know how old Michiko was, nor Takeshi. But Aurelia was four years older than Acion. She also looked a lot older, more mature, despite her attitude still very much retained her short-temper and seemingly childish manner. Comparing to Michiko and Takeshi, he certainly didn’t look too old, and she also didn’t appear too young as Acion had said, so there was a reason he assumed so.

Acion had taken his time, taking another few minutes consuming a few more cookies slowly, so as to fully enjoy this magical product of hers.

”Well, I shouldn’t be taking other’s share, should I?” Acion said, as he suddenly remembered the task that he had scheduled for himself before he left Quirk Application: going into town to film a footage for his presentation in later weeks. It was still long before due, but it’s better to strike while the iron is still hot.

”Now I have a few errands to run with my new roommate here.” He placed a hand on Roy’s shoulder as he said, bending slightly over to him. ”Do you mind? And whispered lightly.

Roy grabbed another cookie seeing as Acion did so, “We do?” Roy said eating it then taking a deep breathe, after a long day these certainly hit the spot. Roy got up from his chair “Nah I dont mind at all.” Roy got up with Acion, “Your brother is Takeshi, you guys don’t seem all that much alike. He has a much different air around him, and i'll admit his skills are formidable.” the blonde boy said smiling, “Also if you see another blonde boy come through be on your guard, I’ll see you later Michiko. Lets go Acion” Roy said exiting the room grabbing his 3rd and last cookie on the way out.

”Yeah I am good with faces and names… Especially if they are heros or villains.” She looked to Roy ” He is a bit more serious than me. But he’s been through alot as well.” She only nodded when they said they had to go. And nodded again at his warning about a blonde boy.

Michiko looked over to see another boy standing in the doorway, as he turned to leave she waved her hand at him and said, “Hey! Don’t be shy! Come on over here! I made cookies for everyone!”
Alexander Pacifier

The mission papers that he was given served merely as votes. Maya's decisions were final. But all turned out well, either by luck or plan. Alexander was given the desired task. And among the adventurers that he would be taking part in, there were a few outstanding individual that caught his attention. There was a girl with scale armor, and styled a fairly strange color to her waist-length hair. And there was a homunculus, who wasn't an adventurer, but was assigned with the party because he was the one who knew the location of the shipwreck. And he was pummeled by a wolf, owned by an orc, who was also part of the group.

The orc introduced himself as Korgath to the entire team. Judging by the physicals, he appeared strong and apparently cooperative. It was good trait for an adventure to an unknown location, where danger could befall on anyone, at any time, anywhere.

"It is a pleasure." He responded to the orc, in a slow and polite manner. "However, a correction is that I am not magic-sensitive. But I do certainly have a certain understanding of its capability. Also, it is unnecessary to call me by my species. I would prefer Alexander."

Garuda Pacifier

Garuda did have a small gesture of inviting Shamir to the dueling arena, to measure this young prince's ability as a warrior, a prince and a defender, but it appeared that he just wasn't interested, or misinterpreted his message. In either cases, Garuda did spend the rest of his day in the arena ring, practicing and honing his art of fighting. But he was unsatisfied...

None other that day had the intention to duel him.

peck peck peck

"Hm..."

Has some fool tried to break into his room?

peck peck peck peck

Garuda winced his eyebrows while his eyelids still perfectly shut as the pick onto his forehead got more and more disturbing. What the hell is going on? It felt as if he was being picked on the head...by some sort of bird. He could not tell very clearly, since several of his senses was still offline, lingered in the world of illusions and dreams. The sign was a clear awakening to his consciousness, and his first reflexes was to open his eyes, widely and clearly at the source of disturbance. It was indeed a bird.

"Isn't this a pleasure, to be visited by such a creature." Garuda quietly muttered, as he leaned closely to the bird. "Tell me little one, what are you here for?"

The bird said nothing in return. Instead, he dropped a certain note onto the bed Garuda was lying on. Garuda took the paper and gently unroll it.

"Hmmm...."

Destructive arts master huh...

Just as he would expect. His magical expertise wasn't really destructive, but at the least, it was in the relative magical tree. Sure, it wasn't what his empire would be pleased with, but would one rather defend his empire against threats until they finally cripple him, or would he preemptively head out and pull out the root of the weeds before it could grow? A warrior must be not be dormant. He must actively sought for a reason to battle, and to maintain his awareness high, his senses sharp, and his power strong, both physically and mentally. And that was what Garuda desired to enhance in this course.

"Report in 3 hours."

Well, he had plenty of time, so why hurry?

Casually lifting himself out of bed, Garuda took a quick shower, donned the powerful yet elegant suit of his, with his books and notes in hand, and headed out to the classroom.
It appears intriguing to me. Count me as interested
Alexander Pacifier

It is believed by all that the life of the adventurer is filled with excitement and challenges. The title is self-explanatory. In reality, the truth isn’t at all far from expectations, but sometimes there is an interval of events that will occur. Those moments are not common, but they will always be constant, with periods of lulls broken, only to be renewed afterwards.

It is not surprising, therefore, that some will seek out for excitement in what they can find, in order to slake what their bottled up desires for adventures and journeys. But as a warrior, these feelings must not overlap with the objectives that they are given. He knows there are things best resolved quickly, than left to satisfy a few individual’s thirst for joy.

It was time.

The missions had been issued at last.

The young Alexander was sitting inside the waiting lounge of the Iron Rose Guild, as he held a book about world philosophy firmly in his hand, as the first rows of adventurers began to flood the room. Their expressions glimmered with excitement and joy as missions began to be issued again in the period. It’s not surprising, however, after everything that happened at the Botan’s island. The Simones were one of the most treacherous pirate gangs in the high seas, one that guilds had spent countless times, effort and blood trying to bust out their location, and catch them. For such a reputation, the beauty of irony came when they were apprehended, all of them, on a small island without putting much of a fight. For all their years committing astrocity, looting and stealing, no one would have expected such outcome. And as a result, criminal activities had decreased for a few months ever since, until now.

Having settled into the lounge, Alexander took a glance of the fellow adventurers inside the room. The variety of such races and culture were indeed apparent. Alexander was inclined to agree with his father, that such variety can be chaotic. It took a rather powerful and strict regulations to hold these people together. He could not say whether the guild he was in was that strong, but after a few years serving here, it had temporarily assured him.

He glanced through it again, noticing a few interesting faces. He had to study them well in advance, because who knows when the string of fate would tie him and them together, either as allies, enemies, adversaries, lovers or friends. There was this blue-skinned bald woman, who were sitting quietly the whole time, a half-elf red head who were buzzing up and down, a huge orc and a some sort of homunculus. These were the most noticeable, and probably only except for the homunculus and and the blue-skinned woman, who he had little information to determine their origins, he could dictate a general overview of how they would react. Hopefully, this would serve as useful in his endeavor.

Then the papers detailing the missions were issued. Three missions. With three different rewards. The delivery mission would strike Alexander as straightforward, fast and had a solid reward. But that, unfortunately, did not really help to serve his goal. The same could be said for the goblin mission. Despite being tempting, as it was in Alexander's specialty to deal with such pests, the goblins weren't that big of a threat to Alexander's allegiance. He ought to seek out for potential threats in the world, and he seek to obliterate them, before they could actually cause any damage to his home world. The goblins were just too petty for that definition.

The goods recovery mission. It appeared with much less of rewards, potentially dangerous locations. But that was all that mattered. It was said that some sort of ship had crashed there, but for what cause was not mentioned. Such vague information might be a piece of the puzzle that would lead to the picture of what Alexander was looking for. And for that, was more worth the time he would spend.

Alexander, as decisive as he would be, stood up quickly, his hand holding the paper for the goods recovery mission. He approached the red-haired woman, and the commonly known S-ranked adventurer Maya to hand the paper in.

Let's learn who shall be on route for this task.
I am alive. Still waiting for others to make a post
