The year is 198X.

The beautiful blue orb of Earth is under threat.

It comes not as an invader from beyond the celestial sphere.

It comes not as an unstoppable plague, leaving rotting life in its wake.

It comes not as the collapse of humankind, their recklessness bringing about their own doom in the fires of nuclear devastation.

Instead, it is the planet itself that seeks to sate its hunger with the blood of the innocent.

Monstrous creatures, strange flesh and warped with metal, have risen from the very depths of Planet Earth.

They spread death and destruction in their wake, walking disasters seeking only one goal.

Humanity's utter extermination.

Under siege by these mysterious leviathans, and their glorious works crumbling into the dust before their eyes, there was no recourse for mankind but to band together, grovelling and scrabbling in the dirt for anything that could give them a chance to survive the terrible onslaught.

They found their salvation in the man, Higini Somporn.

A man of great wealth and philanthropy, it was he who learnt of these monstrous presences on an biological expedition funded by him in the name of furthering science. It was he who, upon the realisation of the true extent the creatures' immense threat, was tasked by humanity's leaders to unite the greatest scientific minds that Earth had ever known, whether they be from the 1st World or the 2nd World or even the 3rd World, to find a way to save mankind.

Sweat. Blood. Tears. So much was expended upon this seemingly insurmountable goal, but the breakthrough came from the unlikeliest of places.

The monsters themselves.

In the aftermath of their rampages, a strange substance was discovered. A substance possessing incredible qualities, of energy beyond anybody's wildest beliefs. It was small in quantity, but the potential was too much to ignore. So under his leadership, his assembled brightest of humanity - known thereupon as the organisation of MAX FIRE - began to gather as much of this substance as they could, hoping that it would help them in their quest.

And through the power of the substance, deemed the Etherion, they built a guardian.

[ROBOT NAME HERE]

Humanity's greatest weapon. The guardian against the evil that seeks to strike them down.

Maintained at MAX FIRE'S Great Scientific Fortress of Vaucanson (name pending) in Japan, the [ROBOT NAME HERE] will fight these beasts wherever they appear, and with their destruction, seeks to bring true peace and safety to humanity.

No matter what it takes.

Yo, so you might have come by and noticed the weird title, read the above passage, and wondered: "what the hell is this?". The answer to that question is simple: this is a giant robot RPG.

A giant, combining robot RPG.

A giant, combining robot RPG where you fight against giant monsters that want to kill humanity. Simple stuff, yeah?

Anyway, you may also be wondering why there's so little specifics to everything. Why there's so many (name pending) things floating around and a complete lack of description on what the titular giant robot actually looks like and does.

Well, if there was a giant combining robot, we'll need the players of the robot components to actually work together to plan out how they want their robot to be and what it can do, right?

I wanna give more freedom to any players interested in this. The folks who want to be robot pilots can talk over how many components the combiner has, its special attacks, what it looks like, and what not. And you guys will deploy from the Great Scientific Fortress of Vaucanson (name pending), which I also want to work on with all of you guys to get a general idea of the aesthetics going.

That is, of course, not to say you have to be a pilot for the robot. Giant robots have always needed support crew - all the scientists working at the Fortress, the operators on the bridge giving warnings and making sure things are going swell, the mechanics, the chefs, a backup pilot or two who do other odd jobs when not filling in, and the Chief Scientist in charge of commanding the fortress (yes, I want a player to play them, because you guys would feel more actively trying to murder me and the monsters I throw at you for justice).

Essentially, give you guys more freedom to craft things out in your fight against the monsters.

And if all goes well, maybe more, but for now, I wanna see who's up for something like this?

Greek myth.

Perseus is Perseus. Bellerophon was another one of the older heroes who was most famous for killing the Chimera by shoving lead into its mouth as it tried to breathe fire at him, and the lead melted and proceed to choke the monster to death. He also was the OG Pegasus rider, but at some point that got folded into Perseus' thing.

Uchima Senior High - A Hallway, 1st Floor, Classroom Building???

"Eeh, Takahashi-san, I think stabbing someone is a「big problem」," replied Ai with a mild awkwardness, even as she still gripped tightly onto the hilt, shuffling closer to Ryoma. Her atrocious English accent aside, the third-year girl clearly seemed like she was still unsure of where everything was going, but with her underclassman producing a knife, the monster that was somewhere on their tale, and the general superpower-y stuff that they were all wrapped up in, it was pretty obvious that she was at least trying to just stay with the flow, no matter how much everything felt like a plot from a late-night anime that she still didn't own the DVD of. "And hey! Why does Ryo-kun get to be called senpai and not me? That's not fair at all!"

And she did her best to stay afloat by trying not to worry about all the fearful things that made her body tremble and her hands clutch onto somebody else's knife in worry. In this instance, it was the faux-indignation (and grumpy pout that kept shaking as she tried to hold in a smile) in her voice as she addressed Jin. Even though she was a third-year too, the younger student wasn't showing her any respect there! That was super lame! 「Uncool」!

"I'll call you Jin-kun instead," she grumbled out, though the worried, scared look in her eyes as they trained themselves upon the barricaded door were definitely different from her attempt at grumpily trying to keep her spirits up. "Or Jin-chan? No, TakaJin? ... Taka-taka~?"

Her brows furrowed.

"Um, 「T-Money」 ...?"

As she trailed off awkwardly, realising that she was losing steam in the "try and raise everyone's spirits", there was a bump at the door.

A bump that had followed the sound of what clearly had been footsteps.

Human footsteps.

Something was inside. Someone was inside.

Someone who had noticed Ryoma knocking, and someone who might have heard them.

The faint sound of breathing beyond the barricaded door.
My latest post might be a bit short. Sorry about that, wasn't really set on how to continue from my previous post.

Don't worry, I hadn't replied to throw a plot hook yet, but now you and @vancexentan are ... in the same instance.

Have fun together.

Will get the rest of today's posts up once I stop procrastinating from these Physics readings.

A few blocks away from the park? bGuREjBEyQ qhATrbA

Hans' steps were quiet and muffled as he followed the strange pink strand up towards the doorway. In the eerie, silent foggy world that he had found himself in, the ajar door, allowing only a small peek into the darkness within, was the only other thing beyond him that could signify the presence of actual life. Everything else - from the aging brick of the house to the greying concrete to the dully-coloured grass - was hazy ... indistinct.

The door didn't change as his approach closed in upon it. Even despite the faint golden fog that tinged everything, he could see an inky blackness past that small gap, and the barely visible tiling of the genkan that awaited.

---

"Hey kid, you fine?" asked the woman concernedly as Ishido fell onto the grass, eyebrows raising up even though her eyes were obscured by her shades. "I dunno - uh, I'm not sure of this pink light that you're seeing. Do you need to see-"

She was stepping closer, but the final words never made it out of her throat. The strange atmosphere fell over Ishido, and suddenly, the woman was gone. In an instant, the world had transformed from the clarity he had expected into a hazy, golden fog. Every sense was dulled. Even the discomfort from his fall would feel like nothing.

The scent of grass wasn't there. Everything had adopted an indistinct aura.

The woman was gone.

The only thing behind him was a shimmering membrane, a flickering illusion that seemed to disappear every time he would close his eyes. It was the only source of noise, particularly when even his phone no longer seemed to be as active, pulsing faintly with strange, familiar sounds, but they were gone as soon as they had arrived, waxing and waning with the membranous air's fading and materialising. An eerie pall.

Except ... it wasn't the only source of a faint sound.

Ahead of him, closer to the ajar door of the house was a boy. A boy of his age, seemingly following the ethereal strand of pink.

A boy that seemed curious about the house.
