In a small town tucked away in the rocky foothills at the border of the Empire, crafts keep the world turning. What was once a major mining village took a vocational turn as the warring within the nation's borders came to an end. This village that aided in churning out new inventions, materials, and methods of destruction has now become a cultural hub for all manner of crafted things. It's a place for merchants to sell rare artifacts and painters to host galleries, for alchemists to obtain ingredients and artificers to make the tools of the future. With so many exciting opportunities at one's fingertips, what else could a fledgling artisan hope for?
Thanks for stopping in ^^ I had a really generic idea for this setting a while ago, worked on it for some time as an RPG setting, then realized how much fun it would be as a 1x1 story. Dahlia in Bloom is a reference only because it could be similar, but it's more a vibe reference than anything. Think of a young artisan making a name in a busy city, who suddenly crosses paths with someone that can support them and help them chase their dreams. There's room for as much or as little drama, world building, slow burn romance, and magical creation as you could want.
I could play either side of these sample pairings, though generally playing M in MxF (I've written for F and MxM before, if you're convincing I would not be opposed). I'm using a generic 'Artisan' here, which could be any kind of person doing crafting or otherwise participating in the bustling trades in the town. Usually, I'll write in a few side characters to help with the story as well. I've never doubled, but everything's worth trying once.
Noble x Artisan - A creation catches the eye of a Noble, and now they can't help but want to see more Adventurer/Soldier x Artisan - Every artisan needs materials for their work, and the adventurers of the town are happy to help gather or escort them to where they need to be Artisan x Artisan - Struggling artists relying on each other, a tale still being told today. Fighting through frustrations, dealing with successes and maybe even feeding each other work. They could be competitors, or one might already be successful while the other is struggling. Plenty of ways for this to shake out.
Post or PM me if you have questions about the story or me, I look forward to writing more soon!
Hey, I'm Dae! I've been back from a break for about 4 months now and have been loving writing some stories with great people (shoutout to them, you are all awesome). I'm finally settling in and ready to explore a new idea that I've been working on for about 2 years now. I'm open to exploring this idea and setting as a 1x1 or small group, I don't know if I could take on a large group right now. Be forewarned, this story could delve into some serious nerding out over making and doing things like carpentry, jewelry, art, tailoring, materials, alchemy, enchanting and many other things. This may not be the focus of the story, but it is a major part of the background, so it would be useful if you already had interest in some of these things.
I'm looking to gauge interest for now, and see if there is a story here worth telling. There's a lot of possibility, so I didn't want to narrow it down too much. I'll wait to see what people would like to do. You can respond here or PM me questions or interest!
I love a good romance, and this could certainly be set as one, especially as a 1x1. If it ends up being a group, everyone has to be ok with there being a romance (not necessarily everyone having to participate in it). Any interest in this beyond the innocent, you'll have to PM me to discuss. I'm not saying no to more than that, I've had my share of smut amid a good story, I'm just not going to lay out thoughts for it here.
The Guild In this world there is a constant need. From the smallest village to the sprawling cityscape of the capitol, from a farmer to the highest king, they are all reliant on crafters. They build the houses, mend the tools, and set the gems that keep the world moving forward. The Crafter's Guild is the authority that handles all of these artisans, manages procurement, organizes logistics and much more. However, the Guild's power goes beyond simple merchantry. If an artisan is needed to mend the King's crown, the Guild will handle it. If someone is requesting leather made from earth drake hide but there's none left in stock, well... they can handle that, too. Each guild member receives an enchanted badge with the Guild's symbol on it as identification, though its rarely asked for when accepting jobs normally.
The Premise(s) You are a member of this guild, perhaps new, perhaps seasoned. There are more details about the Guilds secrets for more seasoned members, so I'm leaving those hidden below just in case you like surprises. Those details can also be expanded depending on the story. Either you or your group may receive regular contracts from the guild, maybe as artisans, or maybe as "procurement specialists". Each guild hall doubles as a tavern and varies in size based on location, so the story could be set in a small town or bustling city. I'm thinking this could run a few ways. This could be a city/political intrigue story, with the Guild's power being used to help maintain balance in a tumultuous time. It could be slice of life, just focusing on the day-to-day interactions of the characters as new, rising, or veteran artisans. It could be a budding romance between guild members, or a grand adventure to track down rare materials in far-reaching places. It really is up to the person or group, thus the check for interest before settling on anything.
The Guild is also the inventor of most of the new magic in the world, and it uses that to its benefit. Beneath each guild hall is a secret secondary room, maybe small or maybe an entire tavern. Real guild members who have established themselves can drink here, do business, find rare food and drink and more. This area is also a place of ceremony. First, this is where a guild master can "stamp" your badge. Receiving your first artisan star on your badge is akin to being truly a part of the guild. You have more access to materials and secrets, advanced knowledge of research, and can stay in any guild hall for the night for free. Second, if in a hall large enough to have a secret tavern, you also receive the gift of a drink. Dozens of artisan-crafted cups, flagons, tankards, and all kinds of drinking implements are laid out for you to choose from, each one unique and waiting for the right owner. Not only is it an honor for you to be gifted something crafted so well, but it also honors the artisans who made them.
Getting your second star is no easy task. Sure, the first one comes to anyone who seems trustworthy enough. The second one only comes to those who prove their worth. Maybe it was from months of tracking and slaying a rare monster and obtaining the materials, or crafting clothing that changed fashion in the capitol, or maybe the demanding task of being the best bartender for the secret tavern (and all its unique customers) for the last 10 years. Whatever the reason, you've earned the right to learn about the Guild's inner workings. As a token of thanks, you are gifted a custom-made tool set of your trade, worked on specifically for you by several other 2-star members. They might have procured rare materials to forge you new chisels, replaced your worn armor with custom-fit hide, or traveled far to obtain colors of pigment yet unseen in a painting in this country.
You will also slowly become more included in discussions about the Guild's business. Because of their unique position, their hands touch more coin that the nation's treasury, and that comes with power to sway nobles. The Guild itself needs balance, the artisans can't thrive in all-out war, so they maintain neutrality wherever possible. They won't hesitate to protect their livelihood, or their members, though. The sway many of their members have with the people they service through their craft is enough to control small towns, and the people who go out to procure giant viper skin on a regular basis are just as dangerous against humans. The Guild's members also include many people in power to begin with. Court mages who spent their time with the Guild creating new spells, enchantments, or alchemy. Village chiefs and town mayors who were once blacksmiths, carpenters, masons, or mercenaries. Even a few nobles spent enough time honing their craft to earn the right to be considered artisans. What might your character do with so many high reaching people in its network?
I have a little RP concept that I would love some help with: two people and their fated meeting on a dance floor. More on that below, but first a little about me and what I’m looking for. I’m a high casual to low advanced writer (just being honest with myself here, high casual about sums it up, but I’m learning), so I would like to be able to build the story with someone of similar ability. That being said, I’m a pretty relaxed person (as reflected throughout the rest of this post), so basically as long as you are willing to help move the story along and won’t post single sentence or lesser thought-out posts, I’m sure we’ll get along just fine. I typically play M characters, but have played F before, albeit a long time ago. For this pairing, I’d be looking to play MxF, but if you make a convincing argument for another pairing, I will hear you out. I find it just as easy to play in PMs as on forum posts, so we can figure out what works best between the two of us. I am on regularly during the day, EST, but tend to only post around lunchtime or after work based on the length of the response when I RP. Also, I feel contractually obligated to say 18+, because I’m too old to be having private conversations with non-adults over the internet (sorry, it’s just weird.)
As for the plot, I have two that are both slice-of-life sort of stories (but again, make a convincing argument, I’m here for the telling of stories, mostly regardless of what they are) :
1) The dance hall Now, I’m probably one of the few people who have done this, but there’s a swing dance night in my town every Friday (or, ya know, used to be). If you find it too old-fashioned, I could consider a club setting, but I like the niche start that a swing dance night brings. At any rate, the story would start on such a night, with our characters having their first dance together toward the end of the night. The chemistry draws their interest about each other, but the night ends without much else happening. A slice-of-life montage of the characters going about their week with the other person lingering in the back of their own minds pulls them back to the dance hall the next week. Will their chemistry on the dance floor transition to a relationship, or will they get cold feet and be unable to turn this cute meet into a love story for the ages?
2) Wedding reception We all know wedding receptions are dance traps of epic proportions. Everyone has an aunt who tries to get all the siblings and cousins of the bride and groom to dance. This is the story of a relative of the bride falling for a relative of the groom on the dance floor, the mad search to talk to each other again, and the fight to build a relationship based on very little knowledge of the other person. (Admittedly, this one is less dance-centric on the face of it, but the concept came to mind as I was writing the first one and I thought it was worth exploring.)
If you have any thoughts or would like to try one of these out, post or PM me. As I said, I’m on regularly throughout the day, depending on how work is going, so I check for responses regularly.
P.S. While looking over this in preview mode, it has come to my attention that I have put a lot of text into parentheses. I do not do this when I write usually, so I'm not sure how this happened. I'm leaving them in, though, because I do not currently feel like editing.
@DaemonsRevenge, I might be interested. Will this RP have a Discord Server?
Edit: Note that I might not have the time, though, as my own RP is ramping up its pace right now...
It might, I'm fine with either a well maintained group in the site or on discord. I know everybody can access the site, at least, but some may not have a discord (though, I imaginevery few).
What a fantastic war! I just love when the mortals get all worked up about their personal space. I mean, really. What's a few million square miles of land compared to the universe? Such petty little things. Still, the empire is at peace again and the people can live in harmony with blah blah blah. Maybe they'll learn to behave this time. If not, well... perhaps the next war will be even better.
---------------------------
The newly formed Colain Empire has finally settled into its peace; or at least, there aren't wide-spread battles being fought, as there used to. The various fracture regions that made up the north-eastern section of the Nalzat continent have, after decades of in-fighting and centuries of prior conflict, finally been brought under a single banner. Four years of actual peace have been held, and the empire is beginning to figure out how to exist outside of a perpetual conflict. The citizens have laxed most of the tension that had been built for so long, and many of the former soldiers have returned to their homes to start new lives. Some have pursued work as town guards, bounty hunters, and mercenaries. Many others have left behind the more violent pursuits to live of simple life as farmers, miners, and general laborers. For sure, there is no shortage of work to be done with the population now rising to heights beyond what was ever possible. It is here that we begin our story. Here, in an empire in its infancy and a world older than the land the empire now calls home. The only question is: what happens now?

This is a concept for a world I have been working on for a while. I'm an engineer and like to build things in a robust manner, and that includes my world-building from time-to-time. So, I have a world that is thought out, but I created it to be able to be played in multiple different genres and themes. I wanted to post and see if there was any interest, and to see if there was interest in any particular facet of the story. The world is created in medieval fashion, so there are certain game elements that are probably out by virtue of that. I'd like to get a small group together, so it'd be great to get a consensus from a few players before I put a ton of time into solidifying the world around a theme, but the concepts that are open for consideration are:
Genre: Fantasy (high, low, or no) - Depending on a groups choice, this will be a major factor in how the world is set up and how characters will be generated. I have a slightly different way of doing characters that allows for RP to still happen and reduces how bogged down it can get by rolls. This does, however, require reasonably competent and mature players. This does not mean the content of the RP has to be mature or serious (If you wanna seduce everything in sight, go for it), but it does fall apart if a player isn't committing to what their character would do.
Inclusions (romance, nation building, etc.) - Outside of the fantastical elements, I'd like for the group to come into the game with an understanding of what everyone wants out of the RP experience. I want to be able to provide for the players to have fun, and want players to want to continue playing and not get bored or be disappointed if the story strays from something they wanted. So, a general understanding of whether people expect to have a say in building the world, having a romance with other PCs or NPCs, having battles, that sort of thing.
Setting: Once a genre is set, there will be a start point to consider. Generally, I have it set up for 3 starts: 1) a classic D&D characters small town bar scenario 2) a rebel faction wanting to win their land back from the empire 3) nobility or high-class (or at least in the high-class town scape) and having more of a direct connection to the new empire, its creation, and the overall building of this new nation
I am willing to work with almost any character concept once a group has made at least a loose agreement to the above. As I stated earlier, I have a bit of a unique way of doing a CS that I've wanted to try out that will hopefully allow for better story movement and RP. Above everything, I do want it to be fun and casual, hence not a lot of dice will be rolled necessarily and the players will have their run of the environment to do as the party pleases. If there is enough interest, I'll move on to taking applications soon. Be kind!
I'm Daemon, and I've been playing various roleplaying games for a little more than 12 years now. I played plenty of video games when I was younger and rolled my first D&D character in 2009, but have been doing much more roleplaying in recent years. I've run the gambit of experiences, from in-person and online D&D groups to roleplay MMORPG servers. I've even had the pleasure of a short bit of LARPing last year; something I hope to get to do more of in the future. Now, I'm hoping to find some fun in some new settings!
I'm looking to possibly join a few different things here. I'll certainly be looking for an adventure to go on, but also to flex some of my pure roleplaying muscles. I may even post an int check for something in the future. I enjoy science and reality, certainly, but I also have an affinity for fantasy.
Aside from this, I do have a full-time job, which I am thankful to have in current times. I also cut and polish precious and semi-precious gemstones as a hobby. I am in my element outdoors and in, and spend just as much free time on my computer as I do in the woods.
Thank you all for stopping by to read, I hope to meet you in character soon
