Hey all, picked myself up a ps4 taken king bundle today. Played a number of hours. Enjoying it more than I was lead to believe I would!

So mostly posting enquiring to other people too play with, realising late game is all about Co op

How should I be approaching the game as a new player now? Just play through the story and try gather friends?

Thank you for the suggestions. I intend to start the IC tomorrow, and the IC can proceed as people continue to collaborate and work on their NSes. This has taken me a bit longer than I anticipated because I did not expect the phenomenal turn out this RP has received.

So I have created a few more races, most of which will be tribal factions that make up the majority of the NPC orcs/goblins/marauders of the setting.

Beastmen Races

Race: Panderion
Race Appearance: The Panderions have a strong resemblance to cats. They have white, short hair all over their body. Panderions resemble hairy, feral lions standing seven feet tall. Their claws are not long and sharp enough to be used as weapons, so a Panderion will often armor and arm themselves with a variety of purloined gear. Most often, this gear is second-rate and in poor repair. They weigh on average 250 - 300 lbs and are heavyset often being well muscled.

Race Characteristics:
Panderions have a reputation for being dim-witted and brutish. This claim is not wholly unfounded as they have easily provoked tempers and are prone to fitful rages. Few Panderions overcome this and their culture's brutal nature. Panderion heroes, though rare, are heard of and can acquire significant renown if successful. As a culture, the Panderion value and recognize honor and glory obtained through battle. The Panderion are shown as a rather tribal race and seem to show no sympathy for the weak. They are a race who refuses to recognize another’s power over them. It is native to their race to be able to communicate with spirits.

Race: Mongerls
Race Appearance:

Race Characteristics: These ape-like men make their home around the Arid plains and the feet of the Dragon Spine mountains and the northern mountain ranges. Mongerls have a close connection with primal magic, and are some of the most skilled in its use. Many scholars believe primal magic in fact comes naturally to most of their ilk, with a good few extending their skills in it to become truly formidable. Mongrels are said to be swift warriors and skilled riders, that resemble anthropomorphic apes. They are also said to have a city deep in the Dragon Spine mountains called Cro Beska, but can also be found in the southern lands. Always a thorn in the side of the sides of the city states, as mongerls are said to kidnap men and women alike and, using powerful primal magic, forcefully transform them into bestial mounts, or simply steal and pillage what they can.

Race: Lycans
Race Appearance:

Race Characteristics: The Lycans have a strong resemblance to wolves, with rough short hair all over their body. They are equipped with an incredible sense of smell and amazing hearing. Lycans, also sometimes called the weretouched, are a race of humanoids said to have descended from interbreeding between lycanthropes and humans. Fierce and wild-spirited, Lycans are feared by many as much as their shapeshifting brethren. Lycans are commonly self-reliant and free-spirited. However, lycans are restrained in their actions by a fear that they might become lost in the savagery that dwells in their blood. This fear of losing control makes many lycans confrontational and reclusive. Some lycans, however, do fall prey to their more savage nature, and often raid caravans and smaller farming settlements to precure resources they cannot build themselves.

Beasties Me and Clock Worked Up

Kroblets. Small, sapient but incredibly dull bipedal creatures. Their average thought proccess range from "Hungry, take." and "Not mine, take, funny," to "Bored, take."
In fact much of their very existence revolves around taking things and are considered by everyone, even themselves to simply be an utter nuisance. Howvever, they are crafty bastards, and their seemingly lack of intellegence doesn't translate into weakness, they can be seen raiding villiages and attacking travellers in packs or tribes all in their neverending search for "things".

Tyrids - Lumbering beasts a bit taller than humans, they are the larger cousins of Krobelts and are signifcantly more dangerous. They have larger brains then Krobelts (not by muc though), but have four arms and huge amounts of strength.
Both Tyrids and Kroblets tend to live in hollows and caves, and thus are clearly in the eyes of Avara's more sophisticated species, 'primitive cave-men'. They cannot be reasoned with.

Hey @Flagg, as a general question: When might the IC be starting?

All the behind the scenes collaboration and history building is great, don't get me wrong. The stuff everyone has worked on together is phenomenal. At the same time though, we probably should not forget the lesson of War of Seven Suns and Interstellar: Ascension. If we keep driving this RP from the backseat, it is going to stop before it starts.

This isn't a call to start the RP immediately, but setting a start date just so everyone knows what to aim for would be handy. Something you can put in the title, maybe.

What does everyone else think?

As the GM of the latter RP, I couldn't attest to this more. It may feel like we don't have everything figured out but there's plenty time while still RPing to add stuff. I agree with Term that solid start dates work well. May I suggest this weekend or perhaps monday?

Archaic currency is best described in terms of itself! Least I think so. How does the below work for you?

Farthing: Lowest denomination

Halfshield: five farthings

Shield: two halves/ten farthings

Groat: five shields/ten halves/fifty farthings

Tower: two groats/ten shields/twenty halves/one hundred farthings

Blood: five towers/ten groats/fifty shields/ one hundred halves/five hundred farthings

Lily: two bloods/ten towers/twenty groats/one hundred shields/two hundred halves/thousand farthings

Eye: five lillies/ten bloods/fifty towers/one hundred groats/five hundred shields/one thousand halves/five thousand farthings

Dragon: ten thousand farthings

So for the western currency, I'm thinking Dragon Head Coins, which are minted maybe in Vrent mostly as it has the mines. It might run down to looking something like this.

• Farthing 1 copper coins worth
• Halfshield 5 copper coins worth
• Shield 1 silver coins worth
• Groat 25 copper coins worth
• Tower 5 silver coins worth
• Blood 1 gold coins worth
• Lily 2 gold coins worth
• Eye 100 gold coins worth

I approve the idea but don't understand the reference system. Monetary systems should be self referential and refer to other denominations (copper,gold, silver) after. Or are you saying for example 2 gold coins are called a Lilly, not that a Lilly is a coin equivalent elsewhere to two gold coins?
