Current The hidden benefit of wearing 8 rings total? They double as a pair of brass knuckles in case you get into a fight.

Just as we would turn around and condemn or laugh at our ancestors for their barbarism, our descendants will do the same.

I'm happy with participating in a single RP - Something tells me I'm the only one?

In Batam for a month after quitting my job. Been powering through my writing since. I guess this is where I call myself a full-time professional writer.

To all: I've updated the Characters tab, re-organizing the roster (All inactive characters who aren't in a group with an active character are now marked as "missing"), adding in the newest accepted characters, and posting a bit of a teaser in the NPC section for what's to come down the road.

That's alot of missing characters...

Also, you missed Jeremy Lim, though to be fair, I didn't update my spot in the character tab.
That could work just fine actually, we can sort of form our own small group in a sense and get a little more going on given our respected backgrounds before the infection. Although don't let his age fool you he is quite adept at fighting even though he is an old man lol. But your very right, protecting people who cant protect themselves is not one of his fortes especially against large enemy odds one of my many ways of evening him out so he is not too strong but not too weak. so that would end up working perfectly.

In that case, I guess I'll wait for you guys :) Don't forget to give me the cue :)
About Ktyria she actually already planned to join my character, iv actually been awaiting her first post which is why I have not posted again yet. I am sure she is just busy with school and work.

Mr. Anderson, I'm glad we meet again. Welcome back to the Matrix.

Anyway, I've been going through your stuff and @Ktyria's. I think we can make this work. You two could let your characters meet, then mine could meet them all, maybe save them? Even that CIA analyst don't look like he's in any real shape to fight on his own and protect the kid and glass grandma.

Could be fertile ground for some interesting interaction, considering that my character and yours are on opposite sides from before. Heck, your character might even know a few things about the West Dragon Brotherhood and Fong and Jeremy's association with them.
So... About Ktyria... Did she quietly slip away and quit?

Right now I'm thinking of alternative ways to introduce my characters just in case. Willing to wait for days first though.

EDIT: One possibility I'm thinking of is that they could just be doing their own thing and they were approached by some survivors. So who's up to meeting a pair of hardcore killers?
Here's Fong's partner, though their relationship is complicated. Calling him Fong's ally and comrade just doesn't quite cover it. Let's just say he was following him to keep him in line.

It's still under construction. EDIT: 1st Draft complete. Waiting for approval.

Name: Jeremy Lim

Age: 26

Occupation: Chinese Triad Enforcer

Nationality: American Chinese

Appearance: Jeremy was a weedy looking man who stood at a short 1.74m, and was as light as he looked. He looked even more unremarkable than Fong Yong Gun, and had even dressed to look far less remarkable, with his black beret and heavy jacket over grey long-sleeves and black navy blue pants.

Place of Residence: Washington, Seattle.

Strengths:
- Ruthless: Jeremy will never bat an eyelid over killing a man or doing far worse, especially when he's on the job. He won't be losing any sleep over what he did, and moral dilemmas, to him, don't exist.
- Brutal: What Jeremy lacked in finesse and technique, he made up for with his lack of hesitation in hurting his enemies and really messing them up.
- Loyal: Jeremy was loyal almost to a fault, to those he swore fealty to, to friends and family and allies.

Weaknesses:
- Physically Unimposing: Jeremy simply wasn't gifted with the right physique to harass someone. He would have to work harder than the stereotypical bouncer-type to assert himself.
- Mildly Sociopathic: His ruthlessness was also his weakness. As a result of his activities, he found it harder to connect with people, to empathise with them. His background and indoctrination didn't help either.
- Minion: Jeremy had the habit of being over-enthusiastic and obedient about serving whoever was above him. Usually, that would be the Lao Ban of his Triad. It would give anyone the goosebumps.

Belongings: Jeremy had an ornate cleaver and sawed-off shotgun hiding behind his jacket.

Personality: Jeremy Lim was a poster boy of the Chinese Triad: Unyieldingly loyal, willing to do anything in the name of kin and clan and gang. Removed from the triad, he would be listless and purposeless, as if an addict of chasing the dragon going cold turkey.

@FortunesFaded Yeah, I was afraid my character's introduction would be as mundane as him walking up to the safehouse. But I guess I can consider myself rescued from that.

Anyway, I guess I'll go ahead and put my CS in the characters tab.

I'll check out Ktyria's character sheet, try to come up with a maiden post that might suit both characters.

Just a note about me though... I'm working full time, so I'll only have a few hours' window a day to post. I apologise if I slow this RP down.

EDIT: Hi @Ktyria, any idea how our characters can meet? From what I'm reading, it looks like your characters are vulnerable, so the obvious choice is for Fong to (reluctantly) save them. What do you think?

Also, @FortunesFaded, is it possible for me to have an NPC tagging along with my character, or must I create an actual new character?
Hi FortunesFaded, here's my CS as promised. I'm going to need some help with the RP though. It's gone so far along and it's going to take me awhile to read through everything. Also, I'm not sure where I can 'spawn' my character... In the safehouse or out? I'm not sure if the former is even possible anymore, I doubt it.

This is the first draft, so do tell me if it needs any tuning. I'll be fixing it up here and there though, whenever I see something that's off.

Name: Fong Yong Gun

Age: 29

Occupation: Furniture Maker (Triad Member on the side)

Nationality: American Chinese

Appearance: Yong Gun isn't someone you'd remember from the streets. Standing at only 1.8m and being neither well-toned nor muscular, what meat he had was owed to his trade, which requires a fair bit of physical labour. His skin was a natural slightly-tanned hue, and not any darker because unlike in the old days, he didn't need to craft his furnitures out in the open - His family business had its own warehouse to work in.

Being Chinese, he had black hair and dark brown eyes, the former which was taken cared of well enough that it was raven. Otherwise, his face would be plain looking, with his not-so-flat nose, not-so-high cheekbones and not-so-beady eyes. Perfect for someone counting on non-description in a shady side-job. What wasn't non-descriptive however, was the dragon tattoo covering a good part of the left of his back, going over his shoulders and onto his left chest, along with Chinese words for 'West Dragon Brotherhood' on his left ribs.

As he is visiting Delaware on some... business, he's pretty well-dressed for a furniture maker, with a grey suit over white shirt.

Place of Residence: Washington, Seattle

Strengths:
- Deadly fighter: While by no means a master, Yong Gun is still well-trained in hand-to-hand combat, and melee combat with swords, polearms and whatever's within reach. Has nothing to do with more modern means of subduing or killing opponents though.
- Ingenuity: Yong Gun, through his martial and non-martial pursuits, became unconventionally brilliant, being able to find solutions to difficult problems more often than not, even if it requires an outlandish idea.
- Handy: He's a furniture maker, so he's good with his hands and able to make or repair or tinker with things.
- Loyal: He will never, ever abandon a brother or sister, never ever betray them, and the same goes for friends and allies. It might prove to be his downfall, however.

Weaknesses:
- Shady Background: Although he's just a grunt in Seattle's own Chinese triad, he's already committed several crimes (arson, assault, murder). Granted he's acquitted of all of them by corrupt cops and court officials, there's always a good chance some law enforcers or people would know about him wherever he goes.
- Physically Unimposing: His lacking physical build meant that when it comes to unskilled brute force in a brawl, he's going to lose. Also, it's going to take him some creativity if he wants to physically threaten a person.
- Stubbornly traditional: Yong Gun is rigid in his thinking, taking into account sex, race, class and occupation when he's sizing someone up or reacting to them. He would be further burdened by some superstitions, and limited by hierarchies wherever they're present.

Belongings: For weapons, Yong Gun had a custom-made short Jian (Chinese straight sword) and Beretta 92FS Inox (with suppressor) with two spare magazines hidden behind his suit. He had little else but a khaki-coloured slingbag with a few cans of meat and spam, a spoon and can opener.

Otherwise, his personal effects include a lighter, a pack of cigarettes, a Sony smartphone, keys to a rented Toyota car, his wallet with a few hundred dollars, and a photo of his wife, son and daughter.

Personality: Fong Yong Gun has always been a meek person, not unlike the office worker occupying the corner cubicle in an office setting. He spoke little and was even less showy in his actions. It was his association with the Chinese Triad, the West Dragon Brotherhood, that opened him up. He saw the need to protect his kins and clan from real and imagined threats, and he rose to the occasion.

It had always come down to protecting those he was loyal to, and those he considered his own, and he would do so with relative calm, a compromise between his original meek self and the gang member he had to be.

The world he came from, however, had made him a simple man, prone to othering people, prone to judging others too easily. While he bore heavy responsibility for those he considered his own, his disregard for 'the others' not his own acted as a counterbalance, such that he could ruin their lives and take them without losing a night over it.

That said, being a low-ranking gang member, he was ultimately obedient and a little delusional, the perfect pawn for the games his Da Lao Ban (Big Boss) would play against rival clans and gangs, and the police. He sincerely believed that he was protecting kin, kith and clan, acting as an unofficial police force and militia of sorts, and that was taken advantaged of at worse and entertained half-heartedly at best. It was also the reason why he was never in his gang's inner circle, as the bigger boys saw him as naive and weak.

Other: While he's a killer and scumbag-lite, he's by no means a complete monster, and could really go either way.
This community being too damn harsh and uptight. Nevermind me and my story, I've told it once before, but a good roleplayer I know got banned over a misunderstanding, only for the ban to be lifted when someone sounded off regarding said misunderstanding.
(Mostly finished, but this is draft 1)

Name: Jeremy Lai Yong Gan
Group: CDC Group
Age: 27
Occupation: Graduated Doctor with specialisation in Pediatrics, Conscripted at 25 as an ADF Medical Officer
Family life: He had a girlfriend back in Singapore he was engaged to, but they were separated when he was flown to the US. His parents and brother were still alive when he last checked.
Hair: Raven (Shiny black)
Eyes: Dark Brown
Weight/Height: 80kg/1.8m
Picture:

Blood type: B+
Immune: Yes

Reason for government interest: Jeremy was a Singaporean soldier, one in a company of them, flown in as part of a bilateral deal to observe the CDC project and replicate it back at home. A hidden part of that deal, however, was that the US kidnaps Jeremy Lai for the project to act as both ambassador to Singapore and the CDC project's doctor.

Gear: As a medical officer from one of the most advanced military unit in the world, Jeremy is kitted out in the most modern of military gear, as well as some that was next-generation:

Equipment:
- Military helmet, pixellated camouflage for woodlands.
- Combat goggles.
- Loadbearing vest with pouches and kevlar plating.
- L-torch with USB port.
- Elbow guards.
- SPES-016a, an exoskeleton suit wrapped around the legs for increased soldier carry capacity and reduced combat fatigue.
- SPES-016b, a solar panel mounted on Jeremy's backpack used to power all electronic devices on him.
- ACMS system, an older future warrior project coupled with the SPES-016 that has an on-board computer on the forearm with GPS and a doctor's buddy and a backup small-formed laptop, a power pack for storing power derived from solar panel, wireless radio, full color OLED based helmet mounted display, weapon-mounted camera with an ITL MARS reflex sight.
- Advance medical officer's fieldpack, with medical and personal supplies. Has a Singapore flag for symbolic and signalling purposes.

Weapons:
- SAR-21, modded with bayonet and connected to the ACMS system.
- P226 pistol.

Personality/Bio: For all his next-gen equipment, Jeremy Lai was a broken individual. He was nearing the end of his military obligations when he was sent overseas - he was too good a medical officer to pass up, and when he was kidnapped and put in the CDC, he became depressed and nearly suicidal as the days went by, knowing that he was halfway across the globe from home and girlfriend, knowing that the chances that he would return to Singapore was slim to nil. As a result, he was unmotivated, always thinking about ending it all. Before, he was a reluctant decision-maker. Now, he didn't even want to touch any decisions with a flagpole.

Once upon a time he was full of hope, wanting to start a family and his own general clinic, have kids and settle down. He loved being a doctor, and he was smart enough, which explains why he was able to make it through medical school, even if he wasn't top of the class. He was born to a traditional family that was getting on with the times, but for the life of them couldn't see why the military was so bad, not like Jeremy thought so. This had been a constant point of friction between him and his parents.
