Bio

Howdy. I'm Dee. Been tabletop RP'ing since '90 (D&D 2, 3, 3.5, Rifts, Palladium, D20, Pathfinder, Shadowrun) and writing collaborative fiction for nearly ten years (JvS, represent!) In my day-to-day existence, I'm a theatre technician, a parent, I tend to work too much -- and writing is my escape. I take it pretty seriously.

I'm a pretty big fan of Sci-Fi (but I'm pretty selective about what I read,) Post Apocalyptica, certain Fantasy works (though I prefer my sword-and-sorcery via tabletop...) and Zombies. Used to watch a lot of movies, and read a lot, but having a three-year-old stymies that quite a bit. (2022 edit: the three year old is now nine!)

Some character inspirations: Harry Callahan, Max Rockatansky, William Munny, Snake Plissken, Tyler Durden, Cpl. Hudson (RIP,) Severen (RIP,) Peter Venkman, Malcolm Reynolds, Han Solo (to be continued...)

I tend to look for small groups of dedicated, talented writers who post regularly and love the unknown of spontaneous or semi-planned RP. Hit me up with ideas!

Aellyn is a badass! Welcome. Mind the trash there. er, and the hydro-spares on the aft bulkhead. And the tools. Uhhh. Just, watch your step!
Wouldn't mind being apart if it's still open for crew.

Always.
@Skwint Howdy Skwint. Immediate bonus points for making me think of Robert Shaw's character from Jaws when I read your name.

As to your question -- I'm not looking to "fill" any rolls, per se. I will assume that anyone who crews aboard a tramp freighter knows how to take care of themselves, either with blasters or bladed weapons. There are literally a thousand options. Spice dealer? Medic? Slicer / Hacker? Courtesan? Ex-slave? Miner? Archaeologist? Hunter (of people or otherwise?) Trader? Merchant? Muscle? Merc / gun-for-hire? Droid? Passenger? Preacher? Ex-Military? The list is endless.

My only advice would be, play something that you can pull off. Nothing worse for your in-character swagger than being a mechanic who can't fluently speak the SW engine lingo, or a Medic who knows nothing about anatomy. Just makes it harder for you, the writer. Door's wide open. C'mon in and play.
Also, @Archazen, loving Jet! Awesome character! Can’t wait to make his acquaintance
I wasn’t going to put any restrictions on anything for the time being, except of course not to step on others’ choices by making too similar a character. There’s a thousand options out there. Bring it on!

Dee
Well let’s see a character then, traveller! Happy to see another someone on the run from something, somewhere. No better place to stay one step ahead than constantly on the move.
for the big bad guy, would a name like Randall P. Cockburn, be too over-the-top?

I mean... am I a total d!@k if I say yeah? :D
Fel moved about the UA, performing his rendition of 'routine maintenance.' Which occasionally involved actual maintenance, and also, sometimes, just involved placing a hand here or there, or feeling the vibe of a space he had known so well, for so long. He could often walk around his craft and simply tell if something was off, before the computers or (less reassuringly) the claxons and red warning lights informed you. Sometimes all you had to do was listen. This drove Wrench, Fel's trusty / rusty old R2 unit, crazy, as there was no scientific or contextual reason why any of what the man said (and Fel had attempted to explain, many times) should work. But it did, and so Wrench followed Galdaart wherever he moved.

The Pilot had Wrench's astromech socket (a custom unit built as much by the droid itself as any parts manufacturer) taken apart to suss out a bug in the system which the old R2 swore was causing an unacceptable latency in making calculations and communicating with different systems aboard-ship. Fel thought the little droid was imagining things. "Maybe it's finally time for a memory wipe, Tin-Man..." he teased, his eyes square from passing a tester from wire to wire, searching for inconsistencies. Wrench informed him that in no uncertain terms there would be an airlock in his immediate future if a memory wipe was even discussed again, let alone attempted. Fel laughed. They often bantered like this. For a score of years, Wrench was Fel's only travel companion. They had covered a lot of space and time together.

"I know, old buddy. I wouldn't dream of it." Wrench tooted that it would be awfully hard to dream in the vacuum of space. Fel chuckled again, and stood, stretching out his back. He looked out at the swirling mass of hyperspace, checked the navacomp readout. A little over two hours to Lotho. "Better get this back together, Rust-bucket. We might just need you..." Wrench whistled knowingly that there wasn't a standard day the went by that he wasn't needed. And that he deserved a raise. Twisting an electro-spanner, Fel belly-laughed once more. "A 25% increase of nothin's still nothin... co-pilot. Keep your servos from twistin' Wrench... I'll always see to it you get everything you need..."

The Unfair Advantage

A highly modified (some would say horribly jury-rigged) CEC YG-4210 light freighter that has been Galdaart's home for the past five years. She's a mess, both inside and out, but trusty, well-suited to his trade, visually unassuming, fast, reliable and customized both inside and out. Specs follow.

Manufacturer, Date of Mfg. - CEC, laid down c. 158 BBY
Ship Type - YT subclass YG-4210 Light Freighter, transport-class
Length - 24M, Width - 11M Height - 5.6M (including dorsal and ventral cannons)
Max. Speed (atmo.) - 1000 km / h (modified) MGLT - 120
Engine Units - 3 modified CEC sublight engines, 300 KTU
Hyperdrive - modified CEC, class .5, backup class 12
Power Plant - CEC, heavily modified, two Incom power converters
Backup power generator - Novaldex 04-A power generator
Shielding - Incom Fore-Aft shield generator, modified KDY port-starboard shield generator. Heavily modified (and unreliable) CEC dorsal-ventral shield generator. (obviously modified, standard YG4210's were shield-equipped, but never with the flexibility and variability of the UA.)
Hull - old school Titanium-alloy / Duralloy plating
Sensor system - Custom, mixture of KDY, Incom and Fabritech systems. Includes KDY short-range friend-or-foe detection, HUD schematics and threat analysis, ANq 3.6 tracking, and Incom Long-range ident.
Avionics - Custom, KDY-based
Navigation system - CEC, 3-jump memory. Astromech backup.
Armament - 2 Borstel RG-9 Laser-cannons (mounted on the Port / Starboard axis of the ship, 360 degree fire arc, remote-systems linked to the Look / Fire reticule) Modified CEC AG:2G Quad Laser Cannons (mounted on the dorsal / ventral axis of the ship, 180 degree arc of fire, can be either droid-controlled from the cookpit, via a remote astromech socket, or fire-locked to be controlled via the Look / Fire reticule) Two Dymek HM-6 Concussion missile launchers (6 missiles each) located either side of the cockpit, recessed into superstructre openings.
Countermeasures - Miradyne 4-X Phantom Jammer. Chaff launcher: 4 bundles Flare launcher: 3 flares standard.

Who's got two blasters and room for four more crew members?
