Claire

During the start of the conflict and right as things had started heating up, Claire had been accidentally shoved to the ground by innocents fleeing the cafe and had knocked her noggin on the corner of a table as she fell, effectively putting her out of comission for a few moments. Her body was hidden behind a collapsed table and she had blacked out, only to awaken after a few minutes later to the sound of yelling outside. The violent action had moved outside, and for good reason, she would find out. The building was on fire!
The cafe had become a blazing inferno and clouds of black smoke made it hard to breathe. She choked as she inhaled some of it before attempting to shield her nose with a hand and a crumpled napkin she found on the floor.

I need to get out. She thought to herself, frantically searching around for the exit through the thick black clouds. How did the place catch fire so quickly? Was it built in the 30's or something!? There's so much smoke everywhere too, it's hard to see the entrance! Where is it? The building creaked and groaned around her and she knew time was running out but she kept moving. Her heart was pounding and she was panicking as thoughts ran through her head at light speed. Eventually, she found a glimmer of light and rushed to it, climbing through the broken window and gasping for air on the other side, coughing as her lungs cleared. She hurried to the other side of the street.
Claire silently swore profanities under her breath as she wiped the tears from her eyes and recovered. Then she blinked, taking note of the action around her. Claire checked herself one more time, frowing at the slight blur in her left eye and her dress marked by black soot in some places.

Claire wasn't amused at the fact she had her coffee ritual interrupted and the place that made that possible was now up in flames with her being caught in it as well. Feeling equal parts annoyed, frustrated, and furious, she let her true form appear and tapped into the coursing veins of energy she felt within her and channeled some prana into preparing a rather intense Glacial Storm to sweep the local area.

Still here ^^ between work and taking care of things irl, I lapsed for a bit. I'll catch up and post soon :D
Claire's face fell as she heard that someone had taken her order but at least they enjoyed it! Leo quickly assured her he'd make another one for her as he took her payment. He seemed pretty eager to make this one drink the best he'd ever made. "Oh no worries! Please take your time."Claire stood at the pickup counter while he prepped her order. At the same time, he greeted another customer who she recognized from yesterday. It was the one who charged into the meeting, and out as well.
Speaking of the meeting, Claire remembered not seeing Leon yesterday. She observed him talk to the customer and offer several items that were violently named and werent listed on the menu. They must've been specials, Claire figured. After giving his customer a few moments, Leo finished her order and added a generous helping of french toast (a sweet surprise!) before offering it to her.
"A Lion's promise, with side of French toast." He coolly proclaimed. Claire looked up as he approached and her attention was then drawn to his lavender eyes. Eyes that seemed to swirl with power and a certain determination mixed with defiance. His eyes reminded her of a field of lavender which soothed the souls of those suffering. Yet it seemed that this bed of lavender was hiding something benesth the surface. Dark circles were permanently embedded umder his eyes and Leo looked drained but right now there was a certain warmth radiating from his being that welcomed her. They had locked gazes and Claire wasn't sure if he was doing the same searching as she was...
It felt as if the world had slowed down around them. The buzz of voices from all in the cafe turned into faint hums and everything moved in slow motion.

"I like your eyes." Leo suddenly blurted, his voice very clear compared to the background voices.

"Huh!?" Claire's world resumed normal speed. A blush slowly colored her face but a small smile soon formed afterwards. "Jeez Leo, that was so lame!" Claire softly said, giggling to herself. "I like your eyes too..."She replied. As Leon tried to excuse himself, Claire reached out and tapped his arm. "Let's talk in a little bit, whenever you're not busy." she quickly said before grabbing her order and choosing to sit down with Artemis.

"Hey. Good morning!" She greeted Artemis.

@Cubix @Eklispe
@Eklispe Lol Boxer's Buffet... "Food that'll knock you out!"
I saw xD, @VKAllen. @Cubix Leo would have to acknowledge the fact that Ebenezer mistakenly drank her order. I thought it was funny

After leaving the shower and deciding to apply a light layer of makeup in an attempt to cover up the dark circles under her eyes, she dressed herself in a light turquoise sleeveless sundress. According to the news yesterday afternoon and as far as she knew, today would be very pleasant outside with minimal cloud cover. It would be a great day to take a stroll around or do something outside!
Or so she thought until she stepped outside…
”What is this!?” Claire was taken aback at the swarms of crows flying into the town. She went back inside and hurriedly grabbed a light gray coat before venturing outside again and looking upwards in mild disbelief. She cautiously set out for the café while casting wary glances at the crows in case one of them wanted to mess with her this morning. Claire didn’t wish to display her powers in public right now, especially now that there seemed to be forces at work in the city that she didn’t know of or maybe weren’t friendly, the crows being a prime example.
Looking forward to caffeinated warmth filling her, the blue eyed maiden eagerly rushed onwards down the sidewalk, staying under roofs and pavilions as she went.
Before long, she reached the cozy café and it seemed to be packed more than ever due to its reopening after a closure that lasted a couple of days. People just seemed to love their coffee so much and Claire was no exception!
Claire patiently waited in line, looking around as she did so, catching sight of Leo and Artemis inside as well as a person sitting on the floor. Wait a moment! Was he licking the floor!? Claire blinked a couple of times, feeling equal parts curious, disgusted, and concerned for the young man. The line shifted forward and eventually she found herself finally in front of the register and in front of Leo the Lion once more. Taking note of the “Zombie cure” on the counter, she offered him a five dollar bill and a pleasant smile, “Good morning!”
@Cubix @VKAllen
Yup! They are. I'd say the cafe is closer to our characters residence and the diner is close to the garden maybe a few minutes away. It's a good walk!

"Oh! And he's just so nice and well mannered too, such a sweet guy! I think you'll like him a lot!"

Claire smiled and nodded while rolling her eyes simultaneously, "Yeah but Mom...Chris isn't really my type anyways. He's too...I don't know...too wild for me and whenever he sneezes, he sounds like an elephant. Besides, doesn't he have a girlfriend right now, at least as far as I know he has one?" It was 7 AM the next day and Claire found herself video chatting with her mom like they always did every couple of weeks. Today just happened to be early because her mother had picked up another job and this was one of the few times she was available.

"Oh well, y'know...Chris told me that the girl...Alicia was her name I think. Yeah, they just fell apart and it was only a couple of weeks ago they split and went their separate ways! Well he saw me and your brother at the store the other day and he asked about you and if you were doing okay."

"Yeah, he and I were classmates in high school, er- sophomore year. He was okay...would always ask the weirdest questions though and he got kinda close like, in my personal bubble sometimes. I didn't want to be mean to him or anything because he didn't have any friends so I just talked to him in class. But Mom...no, I wouldn't be interested to go out and date him or talk to him."

"Oh my goodness! I-I wasn't even going to ask that!"

Claire giggled, "Ah but c'mon Mom! I knew you were going to! That's the only time you'd talk about guys like this! It happens everytime! Jeez... 'Oh Claire, you should meet him, he's such a hunk! Oh, honey, this guy is so polite! You should totes go talk to him!'. Besides, I think Chris will get back with her anyways!"

"Well, sue me for trying to help you!"

Claire smiled at the monitor, "Yeah...thank you though...I know they're nice people but, Mom, I want to do this on my own - it feels more real to me that way, I'm making the effort to go up to them and say 'I'm interested in you' or 'let's get to know each other'. You know...I thought about one, he's actually kinda nice! Um, I just need to get to know him...and maybe~," she shrugged, "we'll see how everything goes."

Her mom nodded, "Of course honey, take your time. Well I've gotta get to work! I'm available again next monday if you want to talk again."

"Sure!"

"Bye! I love you!"

"Love you too."

-click-

Claire leaned back in her chair and sighed. Looks like her mom was at it trying to find her potential boyfriends or encourage her to talk to guys she thought was suitable for her daughter. She glanced at her light-blue-duck-pajama-clad-self in the mirror and stared at the dark circles under her eyes, thinking about the few hours of sleep she had gotten. She felt anxious and stressed from yesterday, a lot had happened and her world had rapidly changed with the events that had transpired. The whole day felt like a blur and it seemed she had trouble recalling some of it, as if she hadn't really been there and she felt as if she had missed a lot. The biggest thing she could recall was helping Sam out, clashing personalities, and then finally they had all exchanged banter as well numbers and left, their contact lists larger and minds in deep thought. There was also the odd dream she had last night and she thought of asking someone else about it later on. Although, the conversation with her mom had helped perked her spirits up and lightened her mood. It made her feel normal as if nothing had happened, even if the feeling did just last for a moment, and Claire felt that this would be the key to help her live through this ordeal and come out relatively fine in the end.

How about some coffee? she asked herself, pulling out her phone. Was Leo working this morning? Did he have her number saved? Maybe he could help her with her daily ritual of enjoying some caffeinated goodness!

She started texting him...

@Cubix"Leo...we have a dire emergency...
>.>
<.<
I'm a zombie D:"

*SNAP!*

She took a "selfie" of her tired face and sent it to him.

"SEE? THIS IS NOT A JOKE! I NEED YOUR HELP! I NEED COFFEE PLS OR ELSE I"M GOING TO EAT YOUR BRAINS. I KNOW YOU"RE WORKING THIS MORNING!! Google says you're open for business this morning. Google doesn't lie! >.<
I'll swing by in 30 minutes! I'd like a white chocolate mocha, grande, extra shot of espresso and make it hot please~!"

"There~!" She chirped,"hopefully he gets my text and isn't too busy this morning."
