I understand, but the "no choice" bit is bull. Don't lay your decision on me.

I was making a joke. I get that you have your principles, but I also have to have some sort of standard in how I run my RP.

You kids are in.

PM me what your character is doing at 8:00 P.M., Saturday, September 10, 2050. Your characters have all been tasked to stay in Night City, California, for the last week, waiting for information on your mission. Your guys' living conditions are out of their own pocket throughout their time there.

Don't post until I reply with confirmation: I'll give everyone their own special thingy to do.

Hope I didn't miss anybody

@Nohbdy

Sorry, no picture, no dice

I didn't want to do this, but you left me no choice

IC going up soon-ish

And would you like those measurements to be in metric or imperial? /s

Look, I'm working on getting a commission from a friend for this. It won't be ready until the first or second week of September because she's busy prepping for a convention. Until it's ready, I refuse to post another image. So if you really absolutely cannot bear to go with what you see based on the provided description until then, cut me, and I'll know not to apply to one of your RPs without an image ready.

C'mon brah, just get something. Just make a rough sketch for us. It can be prosaic but just get something down. Even I can do it.

I call him Darkchild, because his ears are dark. Try it. Gimme something, anything, that can serve as a way for me to envision your guy.
I think that there should be a little more openness in how the administration conducts their work. I understand that they don't want to foster huge drama and debate, but I feel as if keeping all moderator action on the down low isn't as conducive to a drama-less environment as one might expect.

People sometimes want to ask why their friends were banned, or why some thread was closed, even if they aren't the direct target of administrative action: this kind of stuff is natural. People are naturally curious. People have friends that they care about. This shouldn't be discouraged. In fact, I think these kinds of questions should be answered. They don't have to answered in public, you can discuss these issues in PMs or DMs, but I think it is important not to leave naturally curious people in the dark. Leaving people grasping for answers only leaves them filling in the gaps, creating more hostility and allowing drama to fester and mutate, until it gets to a critical mass and . . . something bad happens.

I would also think that having a clear, defined, and standardized way to categorize bans, thread locks, and other administrative actions would be key in alleviating some of the problems people see with the guild administration. Having just a simple form the administration could use to explain the who, what, when, where, and why of a given ban/threadlock would be much better than nothing. It would give the administration a way to be more accountable to themselves and others without having to divulge all the information. They can simply save a form that shows who was banned, why they were banned, what rules they broke, what evidence there is, and how long the ban goes for. I think that implementing a standard to how bans should be conducted, saving it somewhere, and sending privately it to both the target of the action and anyone who might be curious would be a much more efficient and open way to conduct bans. The same would go with bans on Discord.

For thread closures, I would also urge a standardized way of tabulating the details of the closure. However, I would also urge that the form describing what rules were broken be posted directly on the thread for all to see, so as to not warrant suspicious regarding unnecessary thread closings and to elucidate what kind of behavior is not acceptable in a given sub-forum/thread.
Aside from the image (which won't be up anytime soon), I'm good to go.

But yeah, hype mode activated.

I'm gonna need at least a cursory depiction of your character's countenance. I'm the type that likes a visual aid regarding a character's nose size, separation of eyes, size of mouth, angle of jawline, size of forehead, shape of head, rough circumference of face, chubbiness of cheeks, complexion of skin, etc. Find something, anything (except some cartoon character creator).

@Aeonumbra

wat u mean?
Ok guys character apps are going to close
8/16 8:00 P.M. EST.

Make sure you get your apps in/finish them up before then. Gotta put my foot down at some point.

I'll post the introductory IC post around that time, but I'll have some special instructions for you all to do before you post. More info will be revealed tomorrow, at the hour of reckoning.
I'd like to make a suggestion. Speaking as someone who has friends on both sides of this, so you know I'm unbiased. Let the community pick it's moderators. Let the community nominate and/or vote. It's fair, and I think it will at least help put an end to this escalated drama.

Nah, I don't think that'll solve much of our problems. If anything, it'll make the Guild more prone to the kind of clique-y conflict that caused much of the hostility we see today. It can too easily turn into people just vying for positions of power and getting their friends to strong arm them into these roles, which means that the main characteristic of a mod isn't someone who is truly qualified, but someone who has many friends (or a few very loyal/key friends). My point is that this path can turn clique conflict into clique politics, which would further polarize the Guild.

Honestly, one of the biggest and bestest ways to solve this problem is to phase out the necessity of moderators and even limit their power via an expansion of the Guild's features. The ability for thread creators/GMs to self moderate their threads (deleting posts, blocking people from posting, etc.) might not solve all problems relating to the administration's issues, but would allow for Mahz (peace be upon Him) to cut back on what powers the moderators need to have. Maybe there could be an Auto-Mod, which scans threads for racist/bad words or numbers of reports or individual complaints from thread owners (need post deleted, need person blocked, etc.) and acts accordingly. Both of these would require Mahz (peace be upon Him) to put in alot of work, but I feel as though the reward would be well worth it for both Him (peace be upon Him) and the community.

just my opinion, man.
@Ace of Hearts

Why do you call it "the Ukraine"? That isn't the correct way to identify the area.

Also I don't think it is appropriate for you to link a porn site.
@Nohbdy

Can you find an image/picture that would fit your character? I prefer having a visual component to solidify a character's features so that everyone has a clear idea of how they look like. I get that it might irk you but I don't think an image you find would necessarily conflict with another person's vision of that specific piece of art (unless you take something from the first page of a google image search and I see the same "cool edgy anime man" that I've seen a dozen times)
also Shadowrun ain't real cyberpunk.

real cyberpunk doesn't have dragons, or trolls, or magicky native americans. part of the draw of cyberpunk should be the closeness to a world of our own or of the near future. i can't really imagine a future where portions of the population suddenly become orcs.

Shadowrun just tries for an appeal to a wider audience by pasting in all the D&D stuff, but as a result the game becomes D&D with guns and computers
