Hello darkness my old friend.
<Snipped quote by Double>
No spoilers, please. :) I am still holding off hope against hope that I'll eventually get to watching the lot. Also the hobbit movies are a sin against the original work and I hate them. As much as the LOTR movies were good those abominations were not. They literally cut out all the funny parts from the book.
Now, can we get back to you telling me about your death? ;) ;)
Hit didn't really need a backstory. He represented something we'd never really seen before in Dragon Ball, being an assassin with unique abilities and no transformations.

I. Hate. Time travel.
DBZ makes it slightly more bearable honestly what with the splitting timelines. Removes the issue of paradoxes to a degree, though the splitting brings with it its own chaos.
And yeah... The Black arc was... uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. It's the arc where I started watching Super and fuck that ending. ToP was a bit of a slog, but damn if the ending wasn't a visual spectacle.

Yamcha actually used to be my favorite because he had long hair and so did I when I was younger... but then he never fucking did anything in DBZ so I latched onto Gohan instead because as a child I guess I related best to the youngest character.
So... yeah, it might just be bad writing and unfortunate circumstances, but that still means being the "Yamcha" of a group is unfortunate. XD
And I'm fully aware of how ridiculous the cheating thing is. And just in general, for everything DBZ did right, there was a lot of plot induced stupidity used to move the plot along. Like... half the fucking Android/Cell saga, honestly. DBZ really did peak during the Namek saga. Plenty of cool stuff came after that, but as a whole... Namek takes it. Saiyan saga is right up there as well of course.
@Double
Well that was emotional. :)
And yes, I agree with you that in general one on one deathmatches are stupid from an in universe perspective. Like seriously, just gang up on people. It's fun. And we shall totally do it. Well the two of us at least. We seem to be on the same page. I don't know what the rest are going to be up to.
This being said I do understand the reasoning for the artistic choice made to go that way. And honestly I think that going the way they did was the right thing to do from a purely artistic perspective. Put simply, the reason the fights in Dragonball are always so awesome is because they aren't just fights, they are stories. Each fight is choreographed and designed into detail to tell a story about the two characters and the conflict involved. It's an epic in the ancient meaning of the word played out through violence. And that's just that much easier to do when you have just two characters to focus on. And I feel they did a good enough job that I can forgive just about anything because of it.
This said, I stopped watching the show when my local TV channels stopped airing it. And that was back when GT ended. So I missed the whole multiple universes thing entirely. I got DB, DBZ, the androids and GT as well as the one standalone movie when Goku becomes a Super Sayan God because of course he does. But that's it.

Hmm, so we have two saiyans, so our Goku and Vegeta. Oni girl is Krillin. Robot man slots nicely in as one of the androids. Heran guy is... uhhh... no idea but pretty strong. Yaksha is also fairly strong so... let's say he's our Tien before Super stole his shoulders.
. . . fuck I'm Yamcha aren't I?

Comparatively true. She isn't useless like him though. Like, she might not be able to solo the highest hitters on the team but she can give them a good run for their money. Even if a SS is going to eventually win every time. And this means that she can keep any opponent tired and busy for long enough to make sure one of you can spend the necessary 10 minutes charging one of your mega super attacks and stay in contact until the last second to ensure it connects before dodging out in the last second to safety with a big smile on her face.
