Holy shit, Breaker 3 us SOOOO much better than New Breaker. How in the actual hell did New Breaker manage to be such a massive downgrade by comparison?
<Snipped quote by Double>

Yeah.

I figured as much. It'd suck to introduce a build that cool this early only for it to suffer from inevitable power creep later on. XD

Is that Gunpla intended for the late game?
If he was the big guy, it would be ironic since I see Jun as the shortest guy on the team in my head.

And though he is smart in some aspects, he's mostly the reckless hothead who bets on himself.

You don't have to literally be big to be the big guy, it's purely metaphorical. Toph was the Big Guy in Avatar, and she was physically the smallest in the group.
I attributed The Hero to Naoki namely due to him being the one to form the team and admittedly making an assumption that he'll be the default Captain later on.

Still don't really know what Riku is. Too tough to be a pure Smart Guy, too smart to be the Big Guy. And I think you're right that Kai and Jun suit The Lancer, especially to each other. That doesn't leave Riku with very much, and I sure as hell wouldn't call him The Hero, that's for sure.

Kai plays with tactics not just brute force making him closer to smart guy, he could also act as lancer as a contrast with Naoki since they are both former player in teams and their specialties are opposites. I think Jun fits more with Big Guy due to his aggressive personality.

Well, Riku doesn't really fit Big Guy either. I mentioned one being able to make an argument for it, but that argument would be based entirely on the fact that he looks like a punk, therefore he must BE a punk. Riku has demonstrated by now that he leans far more toward being analytical, only skewing toward brute force for a brief moment while using God Hand Mode.

It's possible that nobody fits the Big Guy archetype, in which case the team as a whole no longer fits the Five-Man Band trope.

Instead, it looks a little more like this:

The Hero: Naoki

The Lancer/Smart Guy: Riku

The Lancer/Smart Guy: Kai

The Lancer/Smart Guy: Jun

The Heart?: Blade

Seems to be that Riku, Kai, and Jun are all varying degrees of Lancer and Smart Guy. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if Blade also is some degree of Lancer/Smart Guy as well. xD
Huh, so if we're a Five-Man Band as it were, then which of the 5 roles are we individually I wonder?

The Hero: Naoki

The Lancer: ?

The Big Guy: Kai

The Smart Guy: ?

The Heart: ?

Seems obvious to me to put Naoki in the Hero spot. He's the one forming the team and bringing us together in the first place, also he's likely going to be the one acting as the de facto Team Captain. I personally put Kai in the Big Guy slot. An argument could be made to put Riku there, but I feel like Kai fits it slightly better due to him being a great battler but having poor building skills. I honestly don't know where anyone else would go, hence why those are left with question marks. Any other opinions to offer on this?

"Huh?" asked Riku with a confused look. The employee, whom he now recognized as someone from his school named Naoki, had led them both to the sidelines. But it was the question he asked of Riku that was the confusing part, "What do I think of them?" his eyebrow had been raised, not really sure why Naoki was interested in his opinion. Even so, these were participants he knew next to nothing about. The only one he had had any meaningful interaction with was Blade, and that was only for a brief moment. But, he decided to oblige. That meant Riku needed to spend a moment watching the battle.

His eyes shifted between the Gunpla, and with each glance he made at them - each movement he watched them make - images began to appear in his mind about what their respective pilots were like. Some of them were a bit easier to figure than others, while one in particular was a strangely tough nut to crack. Still, he didn't stop observing their movements and tactics.

"The guy with the Crossbone, Shark right?" he asked, now ready to give his answer, "He seems pretty full of himself. Earlier I just took him for a small dog barking loudly to sound bigger than he actually is, but given how far he's made it maybe he actually can back up some of his boasting." but Riku's interest was more in the Gunpla itself, "His machine's had a lot of work put into it. You can practically see his ego oozing off of it with every part and color choice. But it's an impressive build, just the same."

Riku shifted his focus to Blade and the Wing Zero EW, "That guy with the Zero, I never caught his name, but from what I saw of him at Table B earlier he's clearly able to hold his own, but..." he almost hesitated, unsure of how to phrase the next part, "...his Gunpla's just a straight build by the look of it. Still solidly put together, but no customization or attempt to personalize it from what I can see. The colors and weapons all appear to be identical to what it had in the series. He must be a really big fan of Gundam Wing. Can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't customize it more."

His focus had moved to Kai and the Zaku kitbash he was currently piloting, "That one... well he's got some serious guts to take on a tournament like this in a demo model that he didn't even build himself. He's good at battling, but even the best battlers have trouble bringing out the potential in a Gunpla made by someone else. Maybe he's just not a great builder himself, difficult to say." a moment later, Kai had tossed his shield and fired a shot at it. This was a followed by a giant explosion, "Yep, he's a good fighter alright. But battling is only half of what this game is about."

After that he refocused his attention on Naoki, "But why ask me that? You're clearly interested in them but... why do you care what I think?"
Will post after I eat. Also, got my Gundam Breaker 3 today!
@Double@Dezuel Yes same, I've been playing Gundam Breaker 3 non stop lately. Also the SD Gundam generations game since it was on sale.

Speaking of that, I actually ordered myself a copy of Hundam Breaker 3 since I've heard how much better it is than NGB. That should be arriving in the next day or so.
