What to know about the IRL me • I'm a female-bodied person who uses female pronouns (she/her), but identifies as bigender. I am not shy to discuss what that means if you're curious • I am currently in my twenties, and will be for a while • My first language is French, but I think I can say with confidence that I am 99% bilingual and possess a decent mastery of the English language • I am quite the introvert IRL, but quite social online. I'm always willing to meet new people, chat, etc. • I don't like to argue, quite the opposite, in fact. I despise confrontation. I will not get into drama with you for the sake of drama. On the other hand, I rarely get in 'drama' situations due to my calm or 'chill' nature. It's hard to make me angry.
What to know about my roleplaying experience • I consider myself a novice, I still have a lot to learn • I used to RP quite a lot in high-school, in French, on different sites/forums. It was nothing serious, I never learned the lingo nor most of the etiquette (except the basics, of course) • I have mostly, even only, played male characters. Because it is what I enjoy. I would be open, in the right occasion, to build a female character, but I am much more comfortable with male or agender ones. • I have always had the tendency to write a lot, but I also think I possess the quality to adapt quite well to my RP partners. I can usually write only two or three paragraphs if that's what my RP partner is comfortable with.
Alright, we can definitely do that :). Here's some of my ideas, but Azure might have others or better ideas:
1- Like we mentioned before, maybe try to make a character? You don't have to write a long back story for it or whatever, just a basic character that can interact with us. If you do that, then all the part below can be told in the first person or third person about your own character! Like that, you don't write in a way that makes us feel like you're controlling our characters. So you end your RP post like this, with your own character arriving to the school and blabla, and the next post will be one of us, doing the same thing and writing our own arrival to school and how we're feeling about it. Below, I quoted the part where you really write like you're controlling our characters, maybe it will help you see what we're seeing.
The next morning you made your way to school. The mildew was still fresh on the ground, nothing had awoken yet to disturb it. It was school hours, you'd gotten here on time, even if it was only this once. Better to make a good first impression and make your teacher believe you'd actually try. Maybe she'd boost your grade just for coming here. As you made your way to the second floor, you felt odd. The halls were eerily quiet. No chatter, no drama, not even the sound of a man cleaning the halls. It really was early. Occasionally you'd hear the flip of a paper or the sip of coffee. The thought of caffeine was enticing.
2- The other idea is more drastic, but it is to erase everything and start anew. If you don't want to make a character, then you have to change at least the end of your post. If you like the idea of how you described 'our arrival' to school, then keep it, but change the pronouns. For example, talk about how the school has an eerie atmosphere. But write it in a neutral tone, and as a description of the school in general, not as a description of how our characters are thinking.
I don't know if I'm being really clear, maybe I'm rambling too much. Long story short, any part of your post that uses the pronoun 'you' as if you were talking about our characters, erase it or change it. Does that make sense?
1/ Torn - James TW 2/ Lost In The Light - Bahamas 3/ Believe - Mumford & Sons 4/ I Am Mine - Beta Radio 5/ Shine a Light - BANNERS 6/ Sleep On The Floor - The Lumineers 7/ Heart in Two - Reuben And The Dark 8/ Lover Come Back - City and Colour 9/ Run - Daughter 10/ Unsteady - X Ambassadors
Hopefully we get some more people interested with time! And I mean, I'm personally not in a rush, so take all the time you need to finish the RP, add information that you need, etc. It doesn't need to start soon if you need more time to prepare it. I could be down to help you but, as much as I enjoy Monster Hunter, I wouldn't call myself a pro or anything. I don't think I know quite enough about it to help you build the RP.
I would possibly be interested in this (possibly because it will depend on my schedule once you're ready to launch your RP)! I'm super excited for the game and I think this could be a fun RP.
I kind of agree with Azure on this. See it this way, if you control what our characters are thinking or doing like the fact that they're arriving all at the same time at the school and how they feel while walking down the hallway, there's nothing left for us to do, you know ^^? That's our part of the game, to play our characters and write about how they're feeling or what they're thinking. Just a suggestion, but I do agree with Azure that maybe you should make your own character, especially if you felt like playing the RP with us on top of being the GM.
