(REDO IN PROGRESS)

Hey guys! I'm planning a new project up in the near future and indeed with Monster Hunter: World coming up soon, I was thinking on making a Monster Hunter RP - but with a twist. While not the first time I pitched this idea, I want the RP to revolve around the monsters, yet adding human-elements regarding a social-ecosystem class and kings/emperors/gods, etc. Think of it as a world after humans, where they have gone extinct and all that remains are ruins of various fortresses, villages, towns, etc.

ECOSYSTEM HIERARCHY

Prey (EX: Aptonoth) < Soldiers (EX: Velociprey, Jagras, Jaggi/Jaggia, Ludroth) < Barons (Velocidrone, Great Jagras, Great Jaggi, Royal Ludroth) < Counts (Yian Kut-Ku, Barroth, Azuros) < Royal Guard (Any large monsters) < Prince/Princess (Offspring) < King/Queens (Rathalos/Rathian, Diablos, Barioth, Lagiacrus) < Elder Gods (Elder Dragons)

(Separate - Rogues (Deviljho, Odogaron, Gore Magala, etc)

Prey = Lowest Class mostly made up of herbivores and small insects, and are used for food.

Soldiers = Often small creatures who can put up some kind of fight. Often are smaller versions of larger monsters.

Barons/Baroness = "Great" Barons are the lowest commanding rank, yet they supply a large amount of soldiers. They are often larger/adult versions of their soldiers, in which they have plenty of. They are often the first line of defense against invaders. Robber Barons are basically rogue Barons who are often kicked out of their respected kingdom and forced to live with their group outside and steal from others.

Count/Countess = Appointed by the King/Queen, they directly report to the monarch and control a territory of the ruler's realm. They organize Barons and fend off invading creatures, going in only after the Barons fail their initial goal.

Royal Guard = Guards that protect the royal family. They are often large monsters and wyverns, with their sole duty being to protect the royal family from harm's way. For example, a Diablos King may have a Tigrex and a Nibelsnarf act as guards to protect them, or a Queen Rathian may appoint an Anjanath and a Najarala as guards.

Prince/Princess = Usually offspring of a King/Queen and are next in line to rule. If no child is given prior to the ruler's death, his most trusted advisor comes to rule.

King/Queen = Rulers of a respected region. Often large and powerful fighters that have a royal bloodline or otherwise strong qualities.

Elder Gods/Goddesses = Giant mythical creatures that wield powerful beyond any creature on the continent. Often secluded in a specific remote location, they are extremely rare to encounter and are so powerful to the point where they are nearly unrivaled by other lesser creatures.

Rogues = Rogue creatures are nomads, which do not have a stable location in which they stay in, and can be found anywhere. They range from simple Robber Barons, to creatures so powerful and brutal, that they've been kicked out by their respected King/Queen, often posing a threat to their rule or their entire ecosystem. Most creatures stay clear out of these nomads...

I would possibly be interested in this (possibly because it will depend on my schedule once you're ready to launch your RP)! I'm super excited for the game and I think this could be a fun RP.

Hopefully we get some more people interested with time! And I mean, I'm personally not in a rush, so take all the time you need to finish the RP, add information that you need, etc. It doesn't need to start soon if you need more time to prepare it. I could be down to help you but, as much as I enjoy Monster Hunter, I wouldn't call myself a pro or anything. I don't think I know quite enough about it to help you build the RP.

Any form of assistance is greatly appreciated. If I also want to start this effectively, I'll need ideas and solid plot-arcs to keep it alive. One thing is the idea, but then one must inject it with lore and effective quests/arcs to keep everyone busy and story-driven.

You continue to amaze me, my friend. I'm in already.

This may not come up for a while, like I mean this is only a map and it may still be in slight WIP at this point, but again any ideas for it or the potential RP is greatly encouraged! (This also goes for everyone who's interested with a RP or just the map in general)

It's also confirmed that some of the creatures stated will have the ability to transform into different "forms" based off a variant/deviant monster relating to them. Some forms will obviously be stronger in other monsters compared to others, but regardless they usually give the creature a boost in strength, agility, etc, as well as possibly a small height/length increase. Most are based off existing forms, but a few are of my own. More info on the custom ones will be announces at a later date.

Here's a list below:

Weatern Hemisphere:

King Liolaeus - (Rathalos ---> Dreadking Rathalos)

Queen Reyothia - (Rathian ---> Dreadqueen Rathian)

Count Lavrious - (Hypnocatrice ---> Breeding Season Hypnocatrice)

Eastern Hemisphere:

King Thoron - (Stigyan Zinogre ---> DemonKing Zinogre*)

Queen Helena - (Zinogre ---> ThunderQueen Zinogre**)

Count Blugdeon - (Uragaan ---> Crystalbeard Uragaan)

*Original Zinogre deviant
**Based off Thunderlord Zinogre deviant

Northern Hemisphere:

Countess Tyrra - (Tigrex ---> Grimclaw Tigrex)

Count Kong - (Rajang ---> Furious Rajang)

Southern Hemisphere:

King Monoculus (Monoblos - Divine Carnage Monoblos*)

King "Dymo" Dymotrious I (Diablos ---> Massacre Demon Diablos)

*Based on White Monoblos Deviant

Oceanic Regions:

King Posadius - (Lagiacrus ---> Abyssal Lagiacrus)

This is a really interesting concept. I was hoping for a Kingdom Death: Monster type deal, but this could be a neat game. Though I'm curious what kind of game this will be. Will it be a character driven game or a kind of strategy RP?

Because if it's a character driven game the players will likely be monsters. However given the ecological hierarchy there's no real way to progress that I can see. If you play as Prey there's no way to become a predator or become stronger. You either start as a Predator and something meaningful or you don't really have any options.

This I have covered. If this becomes a RP, there will be a starting creature and there will be ways to actually evolve into a more powerful creature. You get to the next phase by collecting a certain amount of "evolution spheres". Here's how it goes:

You'll start off as one of the "Great/Drome" creatures (Great Jagras, Great Jaggi, Cephadrome, Congala, Blangonga, Seltas, etc), which are medium sized monsters that while they're small in the grand scheme of the ecosystem, they are still capable of holding their own. These creatures are pack leaders, and they can call upon their pack to help them take down opposing creatures.

Through completing quests and taking down other large monsters, you can collect evolution spheres in order to evolve into a larger creature. This is when you can choose which creature-class you want to be. Depending on the creature you pick, you'll go down a certain tech tree in which you become more stronger creatures of the selected branch.

Once you graduate from the "Drome-Class", you get to choose to become either; "Brute Wyvern - Flying Wyvern - Piscine - Fanged - or Bug".

So lets say you pick being a Brute Wyvern, you can evolve into a Medium-Class creature, (Barroth, Anjanath) or their subspecies (you can also create your own creature as long as they fit the section class - this applies for all other branches). Once you gain more orbs (Three), you can evolve into a Heavy-Class creature (Uragaan/Radobaan, Abiorugu/Giaorugu, Duramboros, Najarala, etc). And the final evolution is the Apex-Class (Glavenus, Gasurabazura, Deviljho) which you can evolve after gaining four points.

(Basically it goes like this: Drome --> Medium --> Heavy --> Apex)

If you pick Flying Wyvern, you evolve into a Medium-Class creature (Yian Kut-Ku, Pukei-Pukei, Gypceros, Qurupeco, Khezu, etc), then Heavy-Class creatures (Yian Garuga, Malfestio, Rathalos/Rathian, Tigrex, Monoblos, etc), and finally the Apex (Diablos, Seregios, Astalos, etc).

(Basically it goes like this: Drome --> Medium --> Heavy --> Apex)

Here's when things get different:

If you pick Piscine Creature, you evolve into a Medium-Class creature (Tetsucabra, Daimyo Hermitaur/Shogun Ceanataur). Depending on what you pick, you can go down certain a certain sub-branch.

If you pick Tetsucabra (or any amphibian creature), you enter the "Amphibian Branch", and unlock the Heavy-Class (Zamtrios, Pelsioth/Jyuratodus, Lavasioth, etc). If you take the former two creatures (Zamtrios, Pelsioth/Jyuratodus), you get to evolve into the Leviathan Class (Lagiacrus, Nibelsnarf, Baruragaru, Mizutsune, etc). However, if you take the latter creature (Lavasioth), or any creature that swims/burrows in lava/ice, you unlock the Lavscine Class (Agnaktor, Glacial Agnaktor), which then you evolve into the Apex depending on which Agnaktor creature you select Akantor, Ukanlos).

If you pick the Medium-Class Daimyo Hermitaur/Shogun Ceanataur, you enter the Carapaceon Branch, and unlock the Heavy-Class (Akura Vashimu - And the other Scorpion creatures), and then the Apex Class (Juvenile Shen Gorens).

(Basically it goes like this: Drome --> Amphibian/Carapaceon --> Heavy --> Apex)

If you pick Fanged Wyverns, you evolve into a Medium-Class creature (Dodogama, Tobi-Kadachi, Kecha Wacha, etc). Depending on what you pick, you can go down a certain sub-branch.

If you pick (Dodogama, Tobi-Kadachi - or any four-legged carnivore), you enter the "Pelagus Sub-Branch", and unlock the Heavy-Class (Azuros, Lagombi, Caeserber, Kamu Orugaron, Volvidon, Midogaron, Slicemargl, etc), then unlocking the Apex-Class (Zinogre, Odogaron, Gammoth).

If you pick Kecha Wacha (Or any ape-like creature), you enter the "Primatius Sub-Branch", and unlock the Heavy-Class (Gogomoa, Lolo/Ray Gougarf, etc), then unlocking the Apex-Class (Rajang, Voljang, etc).

(Basically it goes like this: Drome --> Pelagus/Primatius --> Heavy --> Apex)

If you pick a bug type creature, their branch is going to act differently as well. If you pick say a Seltas, or any hive-drone creature you'll become a Seltas Queen (or a queen of said creature) as a Medium Monster. There you can diverge into either a large land-based or flying-based creature. Land-based you can turn into say, Mantis, Spiders (Nerscylla), land beetles, etc, while flying are say dragonflies, bees/wasps, etc. Each does have an apex stage.

(Basically it goes like this: Drone --> Queen --> Large Independent Bug (Land or Flying) --> Apex)

Elder Dragons will unfortunately be off limits, but your creature can get to the point where they can rival these creatures. For more info and creatures of these types, click here.

For this MH RP that may come up, I'm featuring two actual concepts that allow for such a Pre-dominant Monster environment to be a thing.

1). My original plan. This is a monster-only environment, but you start out as a Great/Drome creature. Through completing quests and killing large monsters, you earn evolution spheres, and when you reach enough you can evolve into a new creature. Progression info and branch is explained above.

2). Have a tiny human cast in a pre-dominant monster environment. A group of hunters battle against a mysterious elder dragon, which somehow teleports them into the future, where humans are extinct and monsters live in a hierarchical system akin to Planet of the Apes trilogy. There's Monster Kingdoms and the creatures can talk, and they reaaaaaaally dislike the humans. The hunters must earn their trust as they attempt to figure out how to get home.

Any other suggestions on what may pop out of this are most welcomed!

No option to play as a human hunter with a 'pet' monster which they're forcing to fight in battles, forage for food and eat rare candies to help them evolve in a direction that would be beneficial for the hunter? It would help with the roleplaying if the rival humans could trade smack talk before getting their giant beast to battle each other for supremacy. Defeating an Apex predator would give you the option to try and tame it, using it as one of your pets until it dies in bloody battle for your glory. A bit like in Pokemon.

Then again, you could take the RP in a totally different direction and make it a little like Horizon: Zero Dawn, where the monsters are machines which the humans can hack and take control of. By destroying other monster machines the hunters would be able to salvage parts from them to upgrade their favourite pets. Defeating an Apex predator would let you salvage some of the advanced tech from its body and bolt it onto your own monster, but if you get defeated in battle an opponent might rip the shiny tech off and start using it themselves.

And another different direction would be to have the monsters similar to the Zerg from Starcraft, the Kaiju from Pacific Rim or the Tyrandis from Warhammer 40k, where each 'hive' is controlled by a central intelligence which can spawn creatures with different abilities depending on what they need them to do. Players could take on the role of one the the 'overminds' breeding new species in competition with the overs, trying to gather new genetic materials to unlock new traits, abilities and skills, as well as biological material to actually grow the beasts. Defeating one of the Apex predators would then give you the ability to spawn a clone of them, but you'd have to collect enough biomass to feed into the spawning pool before being able to make something that big.

These are good suggestions referring to my second idea:

No option to play as a human hunter with a 'pet' monster which they're forcing to fight in battles, forage for food and eat rare candies to help them evolve in a direction that would be beneficial for the hunter? I suppose you could attempt to tame/recruit monsters into your group. Remember though, these creatures are by all instances sentient, in which they can talk and feel, with many of the monsters having an incredible dislike to humans. However, if you're able to be on good relationships with the Barons/Counts/Prince/Monarch, you can be rewarded or simply given a monster to help you on your hunt. The type obviously depends on the mission, but by default you could get something as small as a Jaggi/Jagras, to something as large as a Tetsucabra - maybe even a juvenile/sub-adult Rathalos/Rathian for example. Larger threats may require a hunter to take arms with large creatures.

I will also keep heads on the humans being with factions. The original plan was for these hunters to be united while trying to find their way back home to their era, but perhaps to have them represent as one of the last human hunters of a territory, being maybe blessed by a god/goddess, could be an idea to explore.

You could take the RP in a totally different direction and make it a little like Horizon: Zero Dawn, where the monsters are machines which the humans can hack and take control of. Yeaaaaah, machines aren't going to be planned in the RP in any form. However, the core mechanic in hunting and getting hides will most certainly be in effect, as I plan for the hunter to be stripped of all but one piece of their armor (to make it unique amongst the crew of humans). Monster armor can also be heavily considered, even regarding my first idea. And Monsters can learn human tactics if the hunters fail the mission at hand, or strike back at them at a later date.

A cool idea for a RP... but I do not believe it will fit the visions I currently have for this RP. However it definitely must be explored in a more original RP.

In that context I was thinking more the humans competing against each other so as to breed the best creatures for the team, setting their different pets against each other to determine which would be the best before helping to take down particularly vicious foes together. Sort of like PvP arena combat before facing the PvP wilds missions.

If humans were teleported to the future world, I don't think they'd be really able to breed monsters so effectively. Maybe in a future world where humans are more predominant and have more advanced technology to tame them (like Monster Hunter Stories) yes, but here is where monsters rule and humans have gone extinct. All of this is not necessarily in line with my vision.

My vision is a world in the future, when humans have gone extinct and the monsters have developed higher intelligence for speech and complicated thought processes/sentience. They rule the world with hierarchal kingdoms situated through most biomes and sectors, with a Monarch ruling over his/her/their people, with Counts owning land territories, in which they in return are given to Barons and they maintain order through their biome. They are becoming intelligent within a Feudalistic society.

The RP is to either focus on an exclusively monster-based perspective, as one starts out as a weaker creature growing up to become powerful monsters. Or, have a band of hunters be teleported after fighting a mysterious monster, and they have to survive in a Monster-Ruled land as they attempt to find their way back home.

I honestly do not have many major plans to mostly focus on breeding and genetic tampering with the creatures. Again, this is something to be explored in another RP - I think it would be cool - but in the one Im planning, it won't be such a focus.
