@King Kindred We attempted this RP about a year ago, but I was just not in the right headspace to do it. Being in much healthier place now, I’m giving it another shot.
All right, let’s take it from the top, one more time…
What’s your name? My name is Marcus Trent Tanner. Friends and enemies call me Wolf Spider.
How old are you? I'm 20 years old.
What do you look like? Umm... you're right here, aren't you? Look at me:
Wait, did you mean my costume? It's... kinda like this:
...but with a lot more black instead of red, since... well, I'll get to that in a minute.
What did you do before the Recluse incident? My dad's been the one who raised me my whole life. Dunno where my mom went, and Dad doesn't like to talk about it. His business, I guess. He's not the worst parent, sure, but he's... strict. He's a cop, so that's a given. I admit, I've probably acted out a little more than I should have in response. Tried smoking, bought a motorcycle, got involved with some questionable types. Mostly I've gotten busted for being where I shouldn't be, construction sites, private property, that kind of thing. The usual. Ended up in my dad's lockup more than once. Ended up in the ER with a broken bone or two other times. Pretty sure I broke my old man's heart more than once, too. Not gonna lie, I've been reckless. But hey, maybe I'm finally turning it all around.
See, I've always been athletic. I suppose that's why I'm here, instead of doing a 10-20. See, I was good at track and field in high school, and I do the whole "urban exploration" thing in my free time, but I really got an interest in what the trainers were doing about junior or senior year. I'm no doctor, but I like learning about how the body works. How to take someone hurt, and make 'em better. So I'm taking classes at ESU; physical therapy, sports medicine, that sort of thing. I'm not 100% "upstanding," even now, but I'm toning it down for the sake of my old man and my grades. Gotta have a future sometime, right?
One thing I'm a little worried about where Dad's concerned is some... new developments. See, for the last two years, I've been seeing this guy. Yeah, guy. And I've been worried about how my Dad'll take it. I don't think he'll disown me or anything, but... you never know.
Of course, I've got worse things to worry about than coming out, after that attack...
What happened after the incident? Well, obviously there's the "sticking to walls" bit. I'm stronger, and a lot fucking faster. But the really weird part is, I've got something else, too. See, I can make this dark matter... energy... stuff. Like, kinda looks like solid black hole stuff, yeah? Like solid shadows. I can make a lot with it- limbs, claws, my "webs", even parts of my costume. I basically just raided my riding gear, covered it in shadows, and made a mask out of darkness. It's awesome, right? Instant superhero.
Super Strength- 5 Speed and Agility- 30 Durability- 0 Spider Sense- 20 Regeneration- 5 Mutation (Umbrakinesis)- 40
Do you believe in aliens? Uh, duh? Big universe. Logically, we can't be the only ones here.
What are your goals for the future? Well, aside from all of the new... Spider-bullshit, I'm still not giving up on my degree, whenever they open ESU back up. But I've got a lot more to worry about with the Spider-stuff. Don't get me wrong, these powers are awesome. But they're kinda freaky, too. It's harder to ignore things going on, too, when you have a way to stop it. But what's really grinding my gears is that... well, they found that thing, right? The bomb, or device, or whatever. That means someone planned this. They did this on purpose.
And I don't think I can rest easy until I find out who.
You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city? Fuckin' love New York. It's got its ups and downs, but there's nowhere quite like this place anywhere in the world.
How much technology do you use on a daily basis? I use my phone, play some video games, ride my bike around, whatever. I'm 20, what did you expect?
What do you like? -Motorcycles -My boyfriend -A good run -Parkour -Coffee
What do you dislike? -Tight spaces -Hospitals -Too many rules -Broken bones -My dad (?)
Do you think true evil exists? Not really. People do good things for bad reasons, or bad things for good reasons.
What’s your favorite color? I like red a lot. Especially crimson.
Favorite song?
Anything else to add? Not really. Uh, what was this for again?
What are your thoughts on these people? Scott Yi/Best Buds I've known Scott my whole life. Or near enough that it doesn't matter. We've always been friends, and hopefully always will be. At my craziest, he's the guy I can trust with anything.
Officer Michael Tanner/Complicated My old man. Tough but... well, he's tough. Being a cop in New York will do that to you. He's not a bad person, he's never laid a hand on me, but... there's always been this gap in between me and him. And I dunno how to bridge it.
Hector Reyes/It's Serious My boyfriend. Met him through the local urban exploration scene in my senior year. He's a journalism major. We haven't had a lot of time for each other since Recluse, given the circumstances. I hope he's doing okay...
Raymond Davis/We Cool? I ran with Ray and the Skywalkers a long time ago. Sadly, once someone learned that my dad was a cop, I was out on my ass. Raymond was the only one who didn’t ditch me entirely- I guess getting locked up by my pops on the regular must have said something. We still run together sometimes, though it’s been a while, for obvious reasons.
Strand/More than Myth Strand's a vigilante you hear about sometimes. Most people don't think he's real, but I'm pretty sure he is. I mean, get this, the guy can supposedly run up walls. Remind you of anyone? I think he's connected to this Recluse thing. Not the perpetrator, but maybe they did to him what happened to all of us first. And if he knows more than I do, it'll pay to compare notes. I've gotta find him.
If there’s anyone listening, I just want you to know... I know how you feel. I know you’re scared, and upset. I know things have gotten crazy out there, and you don’t know what’s gonna happen next. That’s understandable. We’re well past the singularity now. And it’s only gonna get crazier from here.
Some of you are worried your neighbors are gonna wake up tomorrow with powers they can’t control. Some of you are worried about yourselves waking up with powers you can’t control. You’re scared of all the bad guys who’ve been cropping up. The monsters.
We get it. It makes sense. And it’s all right to be scared. No one’s judging you.
But there is good news. Because wherever the bad guys are, we’ll be there, too. You’re not alone. You’re not defenseless. We’re here. We exist. And we’re on your side.
We’re the good guys.
The heroes.
Your friendly neighborhood... Spider-Men.
It’s September 1st, 20XX. The location is Earth-1919. Specifically, the New York City of Earth-1919. It’s a world that should look familiar to you. One very much like your own, where legends and superheroes exist only in movies and comic books.
But not for long.
A “gas attack” at Empire State University has turned into an epidemic. Hundreds, even thousands, are falling sick. Greenwich Village has been quarantined. Most of those infected will die.
You will not.
You have been chosen. By some freak chance, or destiny, you have survived. But not unchanged.
And you’re not the only one.
The world is about to get much bigger. Much stranger. Much more dangerous. And you’re going to be at the center of it all.
Are you a hero? A villain? A little of both? Up to you.
Only you can decide what kind of Spider-Man you’ll be.
Welcome to the Spider-Verse. It’s gonna be a wild ride.
Welcome, one and all, to Tales from the Spider-Verse!
Following a chemical attack on Empire State University- dubbed the "Recluse Incident," after the label on a strange device recovered at the scene- you and a choice few others will wake up exhibiting strange symptoms and abilities. Specifically, those of a Spider-Man. How will you react to your new powers? Where will you go, and what will you do? It's all up to you, but be careful; you're not the only one who was affected by the Incident. And some of them might not be so noble as you are...
But with all that out of the way, welcome, have fun, and enjoy your stay here in the Spider-Verse!
All right, let’s take it from the top, one more time…
What’s your name? (Obvious.)
How old are you? (Max age 20; somewhere between high school and college age is preferable.)
What do you look like? (Description is preferable, picture is acceptable. Both is even better. Costume ideas optional; you can wait for IC for that part.)
What did you do before the Recluse incident? (Lay your backstories on me, guys. Good, bad, Uncle Ben moments, etc.)
What happened after the incident? (Power time! Take 100 points. Divvy them up between the following: Super Strength, Agility, Durability, Regeneration, Spider-Sense, and an optional Mutation if you so wish. Then describe your powers in-character. Keep in mind, you’re still superhuman by normal standards. This is just how you set yourself apart from other Spiders.)
Do you believe in aliens? (Also self-explanatory)
What are your goals for the future? (These can be your goals as a newly-minted superhero, or mundane goals like going to college and paying the bills. Hey, Spider-Manning doesn’t pay the bills; everyone’s gotta have an ambition, right?)
You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
What do you like? (Hobbies, talents, interests, things you like and are good at.)
What do you dislike? (Fears, food you hate, things you consider not-good or bad.)
Do you think true evil exists? (Heavy question, eh? Just answer honestly. No pressure.)
What’s your favorite color? (Self-explanatory; also a place to put your text color if you have one.)
Favorite song? (What song defines your character?)
Anything else to add? (Miscellaneous. Anything that wasn’t covered upstairs, or anything you think is worth mentioning.)
What are your thoughts on these people? (Relations. List each character by name, in their respective color, and your character’s current thoughts on them. Most characters should be aware of each other at least a little. To what extent is up to you.)

Welcome to Tales from the Spider-Verse! In this roleplay, you’ll be taking on the role of a newly-minted Spider-Person, navigating a rapidly-changing world of super-heroes and villains. There will be danger. Excitement! Romance! Maybe even aliens, I don’t know!
If you’re interested, you know what to do. For those of us returning to us after the last attempt, welcome back. Hope to see you all soon!
Name: Rikku Akamine Nickname: Kyuubi Age: 21 Eyes: Red Hair: Pink Description: Tall (6’ 6”), willowy, and ethereal, Rikku has carefully cultivated a look that screams “mystery.” Their pink-white hair cascades in ringlets to their shoulders, and a pair of round red shades cover their equally red eyes. Their face is sharp, angular, vulpine, their sharpened teeth commonly bared in a grin, mocking or otherwise. Their skin is pale, almost white, enhancing their otherworldly facade.
For leisure clothing, they prefer stylish, billowy, traditional clothes, usually in black-and-white, or darker colors. For “business,” they wear a streamlined black combat outfit with all the trimmings, with a black-and-red haori thrown over the top. In combat, they always keep their trusty sword, Renkon, at their hip. Country of Origin: Japan Condition: Adept Biography: Rikku has divided their life into two neat categories: Before, and After. And they really don’t like to think about Before.
Their earliest memories are of the slums- the ramshackle buildings, the putrid smells, the sense of loss that came from being dumped there just because their hands occasionally caught on fire. The system wasn’t willing to take in an Adept as a ward. And whoever abandoned them obviously wasn’t willing to take that chance, either. Even they’re not entirely sure how they survived for as long as they did. All that matters is that they made it to After.
They don’t quite remember how they got started. Probably stealing food, or sneaking into a bath house, or something along those lines. However it happened, eventually someone noticed, and offered a job. It started out small; open this garage at this time. Get this trinket. Pick this pocket. But as it turned out, they were good at it. And more people started to notice. And with “legitimate” job opportunities being few and far between, Rikku needed every scrap they could get.
The jobs gradually got bigger. Break into this vault. “Persuade” this businessman. Access this computer. And as the jobs got bigger, Rikku got better. Soon, the underground was filled with whispers of their antics, of the mysterious youkai who stalked the night, stealing secrets and then vanishing without a trace.
Rikku found that they liked that idea. Very much. And so they leaned into it, hard.
Nowadays, Rikku sits quite comfortably in After, with bidders lining up around the block just to get a taste of their talents (relatively speaking, of course). For the resident Kyuubi of Akihabara, business is good. And they plan to keep it that way for as long as possible, no matter who tries to put a stop to it...
