"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Lovely posts, everyone!! I just moved into my new place and the Internet guy just got me back online. :)

I should have another post up by tonight.
Haha, I was pretty much refreshing the page, waiting for this post. =w=
How exciting. We get to begin the great mystery of murder~
I lied, there's a delicious post waiting for you in the IC. I couldn't help it, after all. And I think everyone can agree to this idea.

OMG, A STORY!! How did you know I love gifts like these?!?! I will save it and treasure it always. :D But... If I would have opened the door when I heard scraping, would the little girl have killed me?
Cora casually plucked the bar out of the air, giving it a dismissive look. She never saw any food like this, it looked like hard mush. But any food was good food after two days, and she was so close to opening it right there. But... That would mean she admitted Sig had a point. His insults rolled off her shoulders, but the idea of food stuck. She really was hungry, but the warehouse was a half-day's journey from here. A fair distance, but Appling was only 45 minutes beyond that. Hell, perhaps they could hole up in Appling for the night and feast, then travel to Atlanta in the morning.

Ah, he found her most silly weakness. Food. Sustenance. She had a craving for it, as she always did. It was a bad thing to have these days, a constant yearn for munchies. So it was a choice she was quite torn between: going to Atlanta directly (which was an hour closer), or raiding a warehouse and taking a round-about trip that would delay them another day. She didn't even know what was in Appling. Were there rich to steal from, or just the poor? Did they have green houses like in Atlanta? How was their security?

This thought occurred to her last, but she knew the Elementals needed more training. Atlanta was overrun with Vygorns, maybe it would be best if they hung back in Appling for a little while. She remembered Phil being incredibly uncomfortable with Atlanta, and she knew personally the city didn't hold the nicest memories for her either.

Jesse, my love... Cora had ignored that part of her for so long, she almost forgot her past life in the city. About the terrible moments that drove the star-stricken lovers apart and caused her to run away to the Haven.

Will became infuriated with Sig, excusing himself after. Phil followed him before she could, so she let those two be. Sig tried to persuade Yahtzee, but he handled the situation the best out of all of them, and Cora felt a twinge of shame. She let her anger get the best of her. How could anyone have faith in her if she flew off the handle like that?

Ugh... She face-palmed, reacting to her own thoughts.

As Yahtzee turned to Cora the first true smile of the day graced her lips, and she nodded. "That... was beautiful. You haven't been here long, but I'm proud of you. You've internalized Kyra, maybe better than I have."

Sig didn't make sense. She couldn't resist speaking up at this point, her voice at a level tone. "Yes, we want to save Kyra. But what makes you think we're not after Vrail's head too? These things will come in good time. And, about the guns, the military is overstocked with such things. We could take and take and they'd still find more."

Eventually Sig posed the final question, the one everyone was so concerned about. "The sooner we move the sooner we arrive. Someone call Kettlehead and his buddy. Decide where we're going, fast."

Cora glanced back at Yahtzee, trying to find an answer in his eyes. Her thoughts veered to Kyra, Mother Earth. The silent Lady who had struggled longer than centuries. If her spirit were here, what would She do? Cora puzzled over this, slowly looking back at Sig with a distant gaze. Maybe... Yes, perhaps.

Her eyes glinted with clarity. "We'll do it your way, Sigsmund. Our ultimate goal will be traveling to Atlanta, but we're not ready for the challenges awaiting us there. Our first stop will be that warehouse you mentioned, and we will travel to the city of Appling thereafter to feast, to train, and to begin weaving the legend of the Elementals. And then, with Kyra at our backs, we will march to Atlanta and take back what is rightfully the world's!" She raised a triumphant fist in the air.
Nice nicknames! I don't wanna rush my post, so I think I'll wait till tomorrow. With Halloween and packing up my room there's not a lot of time to think, haha.

Btw, Happy Halloween. XD
Rook's been added to the list. And Drew, lovely opening post!
Hehe, did I tell you I'm moving tomorrow? The post might be delayed by a couple hours, but it'll be up today. ;)
Cora's obsession with food has her thinking the warehouse might not be such a bad idea, but how Yahtzee acts to Sig will be the deciding factor.

I know! Well done, people. :D //passes around cake.
If the Elementals all got along we'd have no development to work with. Regardless, I think you'll like my next post, Xzalyer.
Ugh... Aislin couldn't help but shudder as Dana wrapped her up in some incredibly long arms. They felt so strange, so abnormal and alien; she thanked the darkness she couldn't actually discern their true nature. With tentative hands, she held onto the arm around her waist, swallowing her repulsion. It's just Dana, get ahold of yourself.

Their speed was insane, truly insane. G-force pressed against her body, she could hardly breathe at this break-neck pace. Well, it literally would be break-neck if Dana hadn't securely supported her head. Aislin was so not prepared, and she squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the roller coaster ride to be over. She stumbled on her feet as Dana set her down, forgetting her sense of balance. Where were they?

She appraised doors she didn't recognize for a moment. But... Oh right, she walked out these very doors not an hour earlier, blind impulse guiding her to what could have very possibly been her demise. Ah, and after her second brush with death she had more questions than answers, and still no answers to her previous questions. It was disenchanting, increasingly so. Her ideals were slipping away, she could feel it. Instead, they replaced themselves with fear, darkness...

"... We need to tell someone about this...." Aislin felt a hand on her shoulder, which she reached up to grip tightly. The texture still churned her stomach, but she felt herself descending into a dark, dark place. Dana was her last spark of light. "Don't worry, you will not be alone..."

Aislin looked down at herself, and immediately wished she didn't. Being covered in mud, dirt and blood from head to toe and wearing shredded, stained clothes made her look god-awful. Like something that walked through Hell, which honestly wouldn't have been far from the truth. Her exhaustion pushed her past the point of being self-conscious, but she didn't want to talk about... About before. She'd force herself to relive it, her and her cruel imagination.

Fresh tears silently fell from her eyes as she let go of Dana's hand. Her voice was a whisper. "You're right... You're right."

Feeling a little more resolved, Aislin let themselves in. The waiting room was just down the hall, empty of most people except two. She recognized them both, the eel-ish meta that kindly carried her to the hospital earlier, and Mr. Blackmore. He always seemed to be at the right place at the right time.

"Mr. Eel, it's good to see you." She said hollowly before turning her gaze to the man of the hour. Adam was a very important teacher to her, his opinion mattered a lot. And to have him see her like this, it embarrassed her. What would he think, seeing a sniveling little Aislin walk in like she'd seen a ghost?

"Sir..." She began, her voice shaky. "Something's, uh... happened. May Dana and I talk to you in private?"
