"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Yes, everyone sees the vision. :3
There, with a twist!~ So, while I check who's still here, is everyone still good with going to that town? A massive plot twist is deliciously waiting for us there. =w=
Cora fell, her feet tumbling out from underneath her as the pit deepened. Sand poured down the walls, diswaying her hopes to crawl up. She fought against the tremulous currents of earth below her, rising to her knees. Sig descended into the pit, stepping effortlessly atop the shifting sands. He almost seemed to smirk, evidently seeing Cora at a disadvantage. She only had time to glower before the hurtled chunk of earth knocked her into the churning walls. It took her entire focus to not panic as gravel and salt filled her mouth. *Can’t… breathe…* she thought desperately. As the sand enclosed her figure, mist sparkled the air. Earth turned white as the walls froze, cracking as Cora punched a fist through. The mix of sand and ice cracked apart, freeing a half suffocated Cora. She coughed, taking in large swells of air. She wiped the grime from her face, a cold smirk pulling at her lips. “Looks like we’re both trying to murder each other. Lovely.” A cold gust from her lips left her hands half-encased in sharp, glassy ice. Mist spilling off her two new claws, Cora assumed her stance on firm feet. Frost lathered the earth under her, creating the perfect launchpad with which she leapt from. But as her icy attack closed in on Sig, an unexpected noise broke across the wasteland. It sounded like thunder, except you felt it more than you heard it. It was loud yet quiet, setting every cell in a living person on edge with tingling awe. Several notes rang out in an overtone, creating the briefest harmony before dying down. Seconds later, the hazy orange-yellow sky flashed pure white. Once, then twice. As the second flash died down Cora beheld the most vivid images behind her eyes: *A mountainous view filling the expanse of sight, covered in great spruce trees and all manner of life. The trees whispered to one another, conveying the sweetest of life’s mysteries. All things in Kyra were alive. The energies of the cosmos flow through each and every being and plant, connecting all things as one. To influence that was to connect with one’s higher self. To truly have peace. To attain one’s full potential. To save them all from the death of their sun. One’s enlightened, Elemental Self.* Cora gasped, frozen still not an inch from Sig. The fight was lost in her, so blown away was she from the vision still glowing in her mind. Her hands fell limply, ice claws shattering as she stared up at the quiet sky. Her lips parted silently, eyes wide with wonder. “...Could it be… Kyra?” Cora whispered. The sky was silent, a closed and undiscerning book once again. Their enigmatic Goddess was gone.

And a Happy New Year, too. I'm going to try and be a little more active. We ready to pick this back up again?
Hehe, money is nice. Anyway, I've posted. :)
Cora absently nodded to Will, mist rolling off her shoulders. It didn't matter to her either way if Sig used tunneling. She was sure she had ways around it. Sig took the challenge, determined to call it the start of their training. If she kicked his sorry butt right here, it couldn't really count as training, could it? Well, perhaps it could. She'd never fought against Earth before. It was a little intimidating, knowing the very ground she stepped on could be used against her at a moment's notice. But if she could stare Fire down, her natural opposite, she could handle this. Who knows, Sig might learn a thing or two. Especially how respect is gained here.

"Ready?" He raised himself on a dusty pillar, sand crumbling down its edges. Cora only returned his wild grin, brushing aside chocolate strands of hair. Her heel dug into the dirt with anticipation and she coiled up, every muscle in her body tense.

"Are you?" She said, ice spinning in tendrils from her open palms. Translucent chains snapped themselves around Sig's rock as Cora was pulled along, running up the side of the pillar. She leapted up, swiping a leg across the top of the stone in hopes of knocking Sig's feet out from underneath him. Simultaneously a bolt of ice conjured in her free hand, which she hurled directly at his chest. The purpose of this was to throw him off the pillar; it was less of an attack and more of a pushing force. The chains of ice dispersed in a shatter of gleaming crystals, giving her only a moment before gravity kicked in. Gathering her feet up underneath her, Cora pushed off the vertical stone, flipping through the air until she landed gracefully on her feet in a circle of frozen Earth.
Sorry for not posting yet, I'll get on that soon. :)
