"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Thank you, thank you. Beautiful posts! I think I shall write up some posts of my own in the next couple days. :)
Excellent post, I thoroughly enjoyed reading that! And I'll try to have a respond for you in the next couple of days. :)
Ginger: I'll PM you. [This is Cora's to-be outfit.](http://imgtest.meiliworks.com/pic/_o/48/f6/dba8c2a324b9fb24ed43f1f1c68d_480_600.jpeg) It is the same as represented in the picture except for a few things. There is no headgear, no eye-patch. Cora will carefully tear off the sleeves of the white shirt, opt-out the half-stockings for black leggings and switch the boots with new running shoes. She will also try to find knee pads.
Posted! Ginger, I want you to control the performer NPC Cora is intimidating at the moment. You up for it? :) Jab and Yahtzee, ball's in your court again. Ginger, I'll add The Director's post tomorrow.
**Appling | Circus of Wonders, North Side** Yahtzee was immediately uncertain. *"I doubt there will be anything around here."* He said. *"I mean the circus always only transports the necessary props. Clothes just sort of got bought and sold as we went."* “Perhaps you’re right.” Cora folded her arms briefly, looking down in thought. “Perhaps… We won't know unless we look. I mean, that looks promising.” She said, gesturing to a couple bins outside a smaller tent to their left. The bins, upon closer examination were filled with washed, well-used garments. Probably on their second hand-me-down. The bins seemed to be waiting to be emptied at the communal garbage disposal, to Cora’s evident delight. She lifted the lid off one, going through old dresses and fake jewelry. From the delicate smile fixed to her lips, Cora’s enthusiasm was hard to miss. The Ringleader joined them unannounced, almost surprising Cora. She stopped rifling around in the bin long enough to hear him mention Will, but not before she found a new outfit. [She draped the garments across her arm, satisfied.](http://imgtest.meiliworks.com/pic/_o/48/f6/dba8c2a324b9fb24ed43f1f1c68d_480_600.jpeg) She’d go change after the leader of the circus spoke. The Ringleader smiled. *"The last time I saw him he seemed to be quite distressed. A girl approached him, they talked and he followed. Down there.”* Cora’s heart skipped a beat. *Shit…* She looked guiltily down at the bin, regretting the moment she let Will wander from the tent. She should have spoken up, made him stay. Ugh, how frustrating... Despite herself, Cora felt pressed to jog down the dim alley, coming across a few circus performers who refused to meet her wide eyes. They quickly dispersed as she approached, and would have disappeared completely had she not pinned one by placing a hand on the wall in front of him. Her grace was almost disarming. “Hey. How’s it going, jack?” She said, humor somehow woven into the cold, pissed off look in her eyes. “Do you know what happened to my friend in a fedora...?” She asked, pale eyes glinting. **Appling | Main Circus Tent’s Entrance** A thin lady with a psychic’s head wrap exited the circus tent, quickly moving past Phil before stopping. She slowly turned, almost sniffing the air for a scent. Her eyes latched on Phil’s and she marched back. “You, sir. You’ve caught Madame La Faire’s eye.” She firmly grasped the elemental’s hand with bony fingers, red-painted nails tracing the palm lines. “Virgo, serious-natured, doesn’t do well in crowds… Hmmm.” Her gaze snapped up. “Mr. Ripley, I see… Darkness. Your childhood was filled with darkness. Someone you loved… Your parents? They were in cramped spaces, treading where muffled voices echoed off crumbling walls. I feel a malicious intent, something’s lacking. A scarcity, yes.” She focused intently on him, pulling his hand closer. “They were removed, weren’t they… Because of a dwindling amount of resources…” The psychic merely sighed, examining the creases of Phil’s hand again. “It’s more common of a story that one would care to imagine, I’m afraid.” She said, quietly tutting. “There isn’t much else I can read except-- ...Oop! What’s this?” She stared intently at his hands before drawing a solemn gaze to his eyes. “There’s… such tragedy. A broken heart. Years of silence and uncertainty. Yet… a hope. A strange, fuzzy feeling of hope. A chance to do something great, or vile. The path ahead is dark...” She furrowed her brows, as if trying to piece together what it all meant. It was several uncomfortable moments before she came back from her thoughts, a cheeky grin flashing across her round face. “That’ll be five copper pieces, please.~”
Yahtzee: I say yaaaaaay. xD [Edit: And congrats on making the 300th post in the IC. (>owo)> ~*] Posts are coming along nicely. I reeaally want new clothes though, so Cora gonna go looting through the dressing rooms. ;) I also have a random event for Jab, which will be posted tonight.
**Appling | Circus of Wonder** Yahtzee showed panic on his face, turning toward the tent entrance. There was urgency in his voice. *"Come on! Let's go find Wil!"* Cora rolled her eyes. “You’re embarrassing me. I’m sure he’s f-” But Yahtzee wouldn’t hear it, already heading out. She stared apologetically at his teacher. She noted how he seemed to be ‘in on the secret’. She would have need to speak with him later. “Um. We’ll be right back.” She joined Yahtzee outside, and together they circled the plaza. Occasionally they called out Will’s name, but to no avail. He was no where to be seen. At this point Cora still wasn’t too worried, certain he was in a tent somewhere enjoying the many sights of the circus. “Don't fret so much, Yahtzee. I’m sure he’s enjoying popcorn and scantily dressed ladies.” She said sarcastically, trying to get him to at least smile. Those weren’t Will’s tastes at all, but it would be funny if they caught him with the circus mistresses. “Let’s search again later. For now, we need to regroup with Phil and the others and plan what the hell we’re doing next. M’kay?” Cora said, pulling at the loose threads of her dirty hoodie. “Maybe they have clothes they’d be willing to donate…” ~~~ **Atlantis | Director’s Laboratory** Will’s screams grated The Director’s sensitive ears. He growled, closing the distance between him and the Elemental. He grabbed the crystal around Will’s neck with a lithe grip, making it glow again. Not enough to send Will under comatose again, but it would exhaust Will to a point his eyes would beg to be rested. For a time, this would pacify the firey Elemental. “I’m ashamed.” His metallic voice whispered maliciously. “You act nothing of Kyra’s final warriors. You give no respect to the element you were born with. Honestly, Fire might have suited you better, given your temper.” Vrail stared him dead in the eye, moving a couple paces from the tilted metal bed. “Although, I understand where your rage is coming from. I did have your friends killed, after all...” He smiled cruelly. “Correction: Tortured then killed. Their screams were delightfully *hopeless*.” He chuckled before leveling a dark stare at Will. The weight of his alien eyes were almost tangible, having a naturally frightening effect. He spoke slowly, bearing the full force of his authority as Ruler of the Decaying Worlds. “Do you even know whom it is you speak to, Lifer?”
Finally posted~ I'll let you strike first.
The golden-haired warrior sat at the edge of the treeline surrounding the shrine, taking measures to catch his breath. He looked up with narrowed eyes, head leaned back against the trunk. Despite his evident show for wear, Evelyn seemed unphased, not even out of breath. He had to wonder if she hadn’t been holding back. There was such strange skill in her movement, he struggled to keep up. Just the speed, nevermind technique… He grumbled, rolling to relax on his side as Evelyn was introduced to Polaris. The exchange was entertaining, if anything. The elf carefully eyed the challengers’ faces. “You misread me. I insinuated no such contempt. ‘Tis not my concern of the politics of other lands, just as long as we can all work effectively together.” Her gray eyes glimmered as Wrensthav removed his trench coat, revealing a great collection of swords she could barely identify. Many of their makes were nothing like what she’d seen before. What was more noticeable was how well-maintained each piece of the set was. Only a truly devoted swordmaster would put such care into keeping everything in mint condition. *"Please excuse me for my rudeness,"* Wrensthav began, unsheathing a heavy blade. *"Normally I would let Polaris go first, but I have been itching to see how different this places swordplay is."* The tip of his ribbed sword tapped the stone as Wrensthav took up a strange stance. He seemed to almost smirk. *"Hope you caught a second wind, I'll be taking it away soon."* Evelyn stifled a small amount of annoyance. He doubted her. Well, this was the perfect excuse to see his skill and magic up close. There was no way his manna was truly infinite. Maybe… maybe if she pushed hard enough, he’d reveal another facet of his power. The swirling gold tendrils surrounding his aura, she’d never seen such a pure form of… it seemed like magic, at least. She couldn’t name it. “Fascinating…” She appraised Wrensthav with curiosity, slowly unsheathing her prized sword. It was of elven make, long and narrow and consisting of translucent, glass-like material etched with engravings down the blade. At different angles the blade’s inner fire changed hues of red-yellow to green-blue. The blade was a conduit of magic, able to channel and amplify anything its wielder so chose. Finally getting serious, Evelyn took down her mage hood, shaking out short, silver hair. Widening her stance, she bent her back leg to allow for easy forward and back movement. She brandished her sword, blade raised at Wresnthav’s chest. “Very well, Wrensthav. Let’s see if you have what it takes to beat me.” She flashed a grin, eyes sharp.
> “Everything’s going just as I foresaw. **We will exterminate the Lifers with one Harbinger of Despair and reclaim the last free city of man.** Then, my Child…” His eyes glimmered as a monstrous smile stretched his face. “Then, nothing will stop us.” The Quote of Awesome that reveals Vrail's current plan. ;) Urukhai: Sweet, feel free to start your post at the city in the IC timeline. That way you don't have to react to as much.
