"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Alizée Altieri

Location: Veni Vedi Veni, Parking Lot
@Punished GN, @Blizz

"... It doesn't look like nothing happened here. Alizée... have you been night stalking again? I thought you said you stopped."
Britney

Alizée stared up at one of her closest friends as she was held by the shoulders, slack jaw. Tears threatened to well in her eyes again at the thought of disappointing Britney. She couldn't do that, could see? Britney had only recently said how proud she was. How much Alizée had grown since the dissolution of the coven.

"Do not lie to me."
Britney

"I... I... They jumped me, Brit. G-got in the way of my... investig-gation." She muttered out, trying to push the blame away. Sweep it under the rug and hide it from sight. Anything to have Brit not look at her with disappointment.

Alas, she wasn't sure Brit would be disarmed so easily.

"... I live, bitches!"
Jess

A few names dropped as Alizée eavesdropped on the whispering happening behind the girl with the braids. The redhead, her name was Jess? And the girl with the glasses was Autumn. Sully had given Jess a drink from his cup, undoing all of Alizée's hard work. Connard. It would seem that Sully was privy to the events that took place, but surely he would see she wasn't in the wrong here.

No. Of course she wasn't in the wrong here.

"Oh? You mean that Coven that broke up ten years ago? Bull. Shit."
The girl with the webs

Alizée felt an eyebrow twitch as she stepped away from Britney. Her temper was slowly rising, being eaten away by the girl with the braids who was on a sole mission to make her life hell at this very moment.

Another person exited Britney's car. A certain someone who, under any other circumstance, would be a welcome sight, as long as she hid her secrets well.

”Yes, that coven. Now, Alizee, do you remember me at all? Because I remember you and the people you hunted, so I’m very inclined to believe them when they say you attacked one of their friends. What were you thinking?”
Stormy

Alizée felt a vein pulse in her forehead. Just what she needed right now. Another one getting on her case. First these jumpers, that girl with the shades, then Brit, and now Stormy.

"I'm telling you it's not true!" She growled, spitting out every word. She didn't want to deal with this.

"Bullshit. This fuckin' psycho tried walking out of here with Jess, then squeezed her like she was some fucking chew toy over and again. Then tried killing Autumn when she dared to try and pry our friend free."
Web girl

Another drop to fill the rage boiling in her. Alizée was certain she was about to lash out. But now it was a matter of who.

"And who decided it would be a great idea to jump me in front of my car, huh?" She said, an edge in her voice as she tried to shift the blame.

That was when the bus pulled up, dropped off a familiar haunt, and peeled away. Alizée would recognize those sharp eyes anywhere. Eve. She, at least, said the exact right thing to the group of magic girls. Need a hand. It almost made Alizée forget her growing fury. Almost caused a smile to grace her porcelain features.

”You’re right. I’m sorry about your friend over there. Alizee should have a handle on herself-
Stormy

That did it. That was the tipping point. How dare he agree with them? He was supposed to be on her side. To hell with that!

A slight red tinged her cheeks as her hands trembled with rage. Dropping her purse and her cigarette, she spun to face Stormy, phantom hands manifesting in an instant. Large. Black as night, hardened like knives. Big enough to be a meaty hold, she grabbed Stomy by the neck with one hand, collar with the other.

If she was successful, her grip would tighten like iron.

"Where the fuck do you get off? You walk into my business, and tell these strangers you got me under control?"

She took a few steps forward, pulling Stormy off the ground by a couple inches, pushing him back, squeezing his neck aggressively to make him silent as she spoke.

"You can back right the fuck up, Stormy. Do not interfere, or we're gonna have a serious, serious problem."

She bared her teeth into a snarl, and threw him back with her phantom hands, giving it enough kick that he would be nearly knocked off his feet.

"And you."

She then whipped around to face the girl with the braids. "Leash?! That's it. If you wanna play, we can play."

Her hands de-materialized for a moment, before appearing behind the girl with with braids out of her peripherals, and shot forward. Her goal?

Choke her out.
So, it may be a good time for a gala...? Work party, bumping elbows...? Unless you had another idea on the setting for the future scenes.

Okay! We're just finishing up a collab with Subject #3, then we will proceed forward with the time skip! :>
I am so proud of you folks. Talking out character differences, making it so everyone is understanding. I could tear up. :')

Where are we at collab-wise? Lexi, are you all done with the scene?
Hehe, well. You know Murphy's law. If it can get worse, it will. ;)

Edit: Lemme know if I need to change anything. @Blizz, you showed up at the most perfect moment. :>
Very true. Calm before the storm?
I never knew a classroom seating arrangement could be so satisfyingly brain-itching.

I think that's one of the fastest rounds we've had in a while. :)
Ciara Ventura

Wingram Academy, Main Building
@Nanaya

"And also before we begin in full, how about a little bit from each of you?"

Ciara almost spat out her coffee as Professor Alto started class by asking for secrets. Personal details. She wiped a hand across her face, trying to hold back a cough. Did she swallow wrong? Who started a class like this? Wasn't this a school that praised skill over silly things like feelings?

Then she remembered Michael. His kindness. No, even if the preliminary trials were focused on power and battle prowess, the school seemed to have a soft spot for students.

Hildegunde went first, standing, or rather, sitting, in her solidarity. Ciara found herself nodding along, immediately reflecting back to seeing Hildegunde's hand brushing up against the spike in the Head Advisor's office.

The boy with glasses, the analyst from Gulliver's fight, went next. Ciara recognized him, providing valuable battle intel in the heat of their struggle against the giant golem. Quiet fellow. Bones? Was he an aspiring doctor? Ah- yes, her guess was right. Chunji's finishing statement answered her inquiry, and Ciara smirked.

The one and only light of lights, Iraleth, went next. Ciara had yet to see a light as bright as hers. She wouldn't be surprised if Iraleth was, in fact, the brightest light in the entire school. It would be beautiful... if they weren't fighting later that day.

Ciara's eyes narrowed into a glare, sharply looking away as Iraleth spoke. She couldn't let her guard down. Not for a second. Serve the church... Her suspicion of white magic might not be far-fetched after all.

Then, Otis spoke up. His voice was calm and level. More long-winded than the rest. Ascendis? Was that part of the full name of the Record? Its importance increased in those two seconds as he spoke about it. If it was one of his goals, it had to be important.

And she just happened to be having a duel there later that day.

Strangely, a sly smile crept over her features. Maybe her trial was actually a blessing in disguise.

As Otis shot a question back at the teacher, Ciara's eyes shot to the door. There was a quiet stretch in the room. Maybe it was better to ghost, avoid these questions. Alas, if she were to dip, she wouldn't discover this PB the teacher mentioned.

After Professor Alto answered or ignored Otis' question, Ciara would take advantage of the monetary quiet. SHe set her coffee to the side, resting her head on a hand.

"Ciara Ventura. 16. Perfect red leaves bring good luck. The strongest win. I don't have any goals, really." Just keeping my head above water.

"Liar. You have a goal." Came the sharp, biting Voice in her mind.

"It's more short-term."

"No. It's long-term. And it's larger than the dark one's."

"It's a dream. I don't know if I have the strength."

"Little Hunger, you don't have the luxury of doubt. Remember what is at stake."

Ciara fell silent as the conversation played out behind her eyes. Did she really have a goal, in this dizzying, entrancing school? Did she dare to dream, when she was so close to losing everything?

She had to. How could she pretend to sit here calmly if she didn't have a shred of hope?

Yes, she had to have some form of goal.

Live through this day.
Maybe one day you'll understand that it's just as much her fault and not entirely his.
