I demand you keep that in there for funsies.
@Kazemitsu Then, you must help me gather the others! TO THE BATCAVE!

Alright, I know Cas' reasonings. What about the rest of you?
This was as rough for Isaac as anybody. On the outside, he may have looked well-gathered and in control. And indeed, he wasn't in a panic, even on the inside. He knew what he had to do. It was just that even the confident, even the brave, even those who can keep their calm - all of them will feel the pulse-pounding terror of war, as bullets attempt to find their way to a new home in your blood-filled body. He'd gotten up from his last burst of cover-fire, trying to give people approaching the enemy territory a few seconds of relief, as Imperial troops duck even the threat of return fire, let alone if it was accurate enough. He wasn't sure, at this distance. He didn't have binoculars. Gunners have enough equipment, as is. They need bullets way more than they need accuracy. That said, at least Isaac's aim could be considered fairly true. He kept some people going, as his gunfire whizzed towards Imperials to make them think twice.

Machine gun nests opened fire from the right and Isaac shouted "Move left! Move left!" and "Wait for the reload!" so they could get further from the effective fire of the well-stocked machine gun nests when they weren't spitting fire. A number of them weren't gonna make it, dropping even as he called out. Isaac gritted his teeth, damning Imperials as he got moving. He ran low and fast, as well as he could under the circumstances. Isaac didn't hold back on movement. There was only stop and GO GO GO! He'd recover his breath when he was on the ground, when he was ducking the incoming fire. He was counting seconds to reload. Not his reloads, but theirs. When it seemed like he was they needed to reload, he'd be getting the hell out and moving up, so he'd be somewhere completely else. He was trying to impress this upon others, and for some it was working, or at least he hoped it did.

But then, shots flew by so close that he felt the force of their passing, maybe even nicked something, and Isaac slipped and fell back, eyes wide as he realized that wasn't a reload phase. He'd just delayed fire. Whoever fired might've spotted what he was doing. He...oh hell.

He has my position. He's sighting me. Fire back!

Putting the barrel of his gun down over his own leg and holding it steady, Isaac fired in the direction the bullets had come from. He'd strayed a little too close to the Imperial Gunners himself. Dammit... He'd been focusing on them far too much. This allowed him to roll aside and get out of his immediate mess, though, and once he'd righted himself to face forwards again, he saw the same ruins that the rest of the squad was heading to. Good. Uhh, hang on... Was that the Sergeant's body getting pulled in? No time to question that. Isaac had to run. He could feel the thirst of a predator on his heel. Like the instinct for being followed, Isaac had to make for that cover and fast, before he was sighted again.

He ran. There were bullets again. He was pretty sure something whizzed by his legs.

However, Isaac only sprinted in circumstances like these. Your muscles might complain, but at least they'd be there tomorrow. This was a place of relative safety. Yeah, you had to keep cover and stay out of sight, but it was a structure - the remains of a church - and that was good enough to catch his breath. He just needed a minute. The wolf will run full-tilt towards an objective and then hunker down to catch its breath, all the while mmaintaining a fierce attitude in the face of potential threats. Isaac's heart was still pounding away, maybe only slightly better, now that bullets were striking bits of wall instead of trying to forge new paths through his body. He noticed Jean there with some binoculars.

"Careful there, Jean. The-"

More bullets struck ground and wall.

"The glint sometimes gets their attention."

Something they told him in basic, in that if he had binoculars, be careful or else a rifleman might shoot you through the eye. And yes, riflemen were being trained to find a glint and shoot at it. Still, at the moment, Jean was looking at something, so Isaac moved over to have a peek. He couldn't see as much, but he could hear it enough to figure it out. The machine guns again... Shit. Alright, it was either up to him or Jean to come up with a plan. No Sergeant, no Lieutenant. Just them. Jean came up with one, though, before he did. Sounded like a good one. Isaac nodded.

"I like it."

He turned to everyone else here.

"Alright, this is gonna be our machine gun nest. Everybody going out, keep low and move fast. Takes a few seconds for us to reload and for them to get up and shoot. You hear silence from back here, that's all you've got to duck."

He then focused on Britta, gesturing her to come on over and set up, as he was getting started himself.

"Let's make it easier for our side, get everyone to that hill alive."
Allow me to clarify something here. This substation is basically an antechamber BEFORE the door leading into the armory, so that guards can have a defensive position to keep intruders out as they come through the hallway choke point. Because the X in here are not observing military tactics, the door is just an obstacle, not a position meant to kill you. The point is that it's not the door which has artillery behind it. It has X behind it, and THEN there is the artillery door. So, you CAN blast the substation gate.
I've decided that, yes, further people will be called for after the bunker.
So, the plan appeared to be to seek the armory for additional weapons/ammo, then to proceed to the engineering section to get the power back up and access the mainframe that was integrated with said generator. It was a wise sort of plan, taking on the situation in an efficient manner. They would have extra resources of fighting this menace, which they may need to get back to the ships again. But first, there would be some questions in need of answering from Zen, starting with Kaze.

"A full examination of X Parasite resistance to certain organic compounds has not taken place. It is assumed that because they devour subjects and their digestive tracts that they have a higher resistance than most. However, it is also a fact that Metroids must be able to break down the X organically, thus they are not immune to such an attack. Theoretically, the acid breath you project would not be infecctive, but because the digestive powers of a Metroid are superior to most, it would not be as potent."

It had potential. Kaze had powerful acid breath, strong enough to break down most materials or organic compounds. Zen would consider it a good Plan B, assuming it worked. They would have to test it, though... Now, Cass required his attention. Zen's head swiveled to face him while still facing the downward section of the stairs. He wanted to know about traps, namely man=made traps.

"You are asking if the reason there is no current opposition is due to any such creatures being terminated by human weaponry. The answer is yes, I can detect powered devices, and I can tell if there is flammable gas in the area to prevent weapons backfire."

He seemed to scan ahead.

"No movement, no flammable gas, no powered units in operation. However, that will likely change as we descend."

With no immediate threat and Amber's drone now silently forging ahead to extend their view of their descent, they proceeded downwards. Through the drone's feed, Amber could determine that there were turrets setup here, but they had actually run out of power. They were plugged into the wall, but they also had backup power units that had been depleted through constant scans and use. They may have been drained on purpose, or they may have been scanning empty corridors wiith no enemies, spent their reserve energy when the power went out, and shut down.

This meant that turning the power on would make them active again.

Of course, anyone could just unplug them. That was simply something the X never considered.

But then, if they did that, the corridors might churn with X activity again when the power was up.

Decisions, decisions... Well, regardless of what anybody decided to do there, the stairwell access door to the armory section was now in front of them. Once open, here's what you got in front of you. There is a hallway leading to a security substation with metal shielding, which had view-slots...and gun-slots, not to mention turrets. However, no power was available, so nothing was firing at them. The door to through the substation was closed and locked, but not likely to withstand a heavy barrage of weapons fire, or say acid. However, before you do that, let's be clear about something here: This room had dim emergency lighting, the sounds of movement behind that door, and Amber's drone was picking up thermal readings. Once Zen was close enough, he detected lifeform readings.

"I detect three lifeform readings, two in motion and one stationary. Since it is unlikely that anything survived X contamination, we must assume that any survivors of the initial onslaught who set up security to protect themselves would then be infected by the X and turned into hostile organisms."

With their current armaments, they could easily melt the lock on the security gate and force it open. Zen could even do it himself. He even offered to, so that nobody else was at risk from the attack that would almost certainly begin immediately.
@CAS1006 I'm an Inspector. The work is done. This is just resting after the fact, so don't expect a long wait.
Might be a good idea.
I'd been preparing for and working at my appointed job during elections, and decided to wait until after that to continue, keenly aware that we had one poster missing. If @UltimoScorp has not posted by the time I feel I'm rested enough to continue, we move on.
