There was a certain bizarre fascination with watching Caster work, that kind of fastidiousness that was beyond human as he mired away at something esoteric and yet utterly mundane. Of course if Maurius was the sort of man who cared one lick about his servant's craft it would probably be less bizarre and more fascinating, but even his borderline apathy towards medical magecraft couldn't entirely subdue the curiosity of seeing exactly how a legendary figure conducted business. Besides, even if their disciplines could scarcely be further apart it was easy for a man like him to appreciate thoroughness.

The concerns that Caster brought to bear were far more intriguing though. Even as one who had accepted the nature of his servant and assumed this little excursion to be a waste the very idea that this grailwar could be "diseased" set his mind to turning. He put finger to chin as he prepared to answer, thinking it over both generally and tactically. The two of them were certainly an oppurtune pair to ally with given their particular skill set, but to put the proof to the pudding would be admitting they weren't truly a competitor. Ah, but to reveal as much could also be to their advantage as well if Maurius shifted his own goals appropriately.

"Well Caster, I would certainly like to discuss the possible treatments, for myself and for this grailwar, in depth once we are-"- He didn't get to finish the thought, the sound of conflict roared over him and chased all his carefully gathered thoughts from his mind, leaving only annoyance. "...Was overlooking their trespass upon our territory not enough? Must they also try my patience with all this rack-..." He was given pause again, something in the air- subtle but divine. "-That sound. Caster, attend me. We will be making an appearance at their little party after all. Perhaps you'll even get a chance to operate if our guests don't settle down."

Without further hesitation Maurius was through the door, briefcase in hand and a grim smile upon his face and a determination in his gait. Perhaps he had just struck gold by chance, and if not he'd make someone pay for the annoyance of it all with his own hands.

Berserker of Mt. Ooe
Fuyuki Park, Heat of Battle

She was fast, but Shuten was faster and more fortunate besides. Power coursed through the little oni's body, more power than even the mighty king of Mt. Ooe had at her command already, as she received the blessings of an unseen but much appreciated patron. Delicious, I'll kill you last then she thought to herself, and to caster too. She had even done her the favor of distracting the disgusting little peach boy, so she would have plenty of time to play with her food.

The little berserker surged forward with katana in hand and that same explosive fury as before, dragging the club up and back into position as she headed straight towards her hated foe and their own dreadful blade even as they retreated. She knew that sword, she knew what it was capable of, but she knew what she was capable of too. As the grass cutting blade came to bear it was practically slow motion to the Oni, her already insane agility boosted further by Caster gave her the opening she needed.

The sound of steel on steel filled Fuyuki as their swords collided as Shuten attempted not to dodge the attack so to speak but rather strike clean through it with all of her might before it could properly come to fruition. It was simple, the sword could not launch its attack if it could not be swung at Shuten, and so she struck the oncoming sword as hard as she could before it could trace a path across her, a countermeasure halfway between a parry and hitting the enemy with a freight train.

She couldn't get quite close enough for her katana to behead Yamato in that same stroke, though it was close, but the raw force of the blow would either send the enemies noble phantasm flying or shatter the hand that stubbornly clung to it... And that giant iron club was coming around again too, and in a much wider arc this time no less. If the raw ferocity of her blows wasn't so fierce as to drive the air from the space between them the other Berserker might have heard a giggle.

Such harsh reactions, and from such objectionable people too... Was it too much in this wretched era to let bygones be bygone and enjoy a good night's revel? It may take two to dance as they say, but even a party of one can make its own fun. The smile persisted as she licked her lips, navigating the fangs with a glint in her eyes.

She called out, just as sweetly as before "It's okay little girls and boys, I can promise you this much-" And then she was gone, her movement a blur that no human eye could ever hope to comprehend and would strain even most servants. What followed was two geysers of displaced earth as the very ground was torn asunder by the immense might of Shuten Douji's assault.

But such vagueries were only for those without the eyes of a servant. That single human instant was a chain of super-human, or rather super monster, events unfolding in rapid succession with a terrifying mixture of grace and brutality.

First, a quick dismissive low kick too far away to hit anyone involved, the toe snagging the solid metal ring at the butt end of the kanabo and tearing it up from its resting place in a skyward shower of dirt.

Second, the foot hit the ground again, a second thunderous impact, as her free hand closed tightly around the handle of the giant club as it pointed straight up at the apex of its rise.

Third, a huge blast that dwarfed both of the prior sent earth and boiling prana flying in all directions, though mostly at Saber since he was behind her, as she leapt off with every bit of her might into a headlong lunge towards the other Berserker.

Then fourth, and finally, that club came down with a crash that put even the one before it to shame as it split the ground with such force that it toppled nearby trees... The only question was whether or not her target was dispersing into the air among that dirt as a mix of ether and red mist.

She resumed speaking as if nothing had happened, but the smile fixed upon her face seemed wider, brimming with more viciousness than that beautiful face could hold without seeming uncanny."-I am not my father."

The sword in her other hand was already raised to receive the worthy with a constant vigilance as the club was dragged back towards the ready position. If a great swordsman knew how to fight with two swords as if they were extensions of his arms then this was the manner of a clever monster that understood the value of having claws on both hands.

Berserker of Mt. Ooe
Native District, Prison of Tedium

Shuten Douji was already beyond her capacity for relaxation, and was running up on the edge of her patience as well. While her idea of such things was fundamentally skewed compared to a human she was nothing if not a social creature, and being cooped up did not keep her satiated. Even idle fantasy about consuming her master, in one way or another, failed to bring relief in this time of intense boredom since due to his nature he was a walking case of indigestion at best. He was the most interesting human she had laid eyes on, save for that one particular boy, and yet he was entirely devoid of anything truly appetizing.

So the little demon lay there on the threshold with that oversized coat draped over her, hands supporting her head and legs kicking idly back and forth as she pouted at the garden, barely observing, scarcely listening, and fiercely plotting. This was not the refined Shuten Douji that had grown to appreciate beautiful things, this sight did not please her in the least, this was the brash young Shuten Douji that could barely resist ruining everything in front of her just to see the look upon the child she called master's face.

She continued to mull it over as he tea steeped, but decided that it was not likely worth the trouble she may land herself in. It wasn't that she respected him, but she was smart enough to understand the nature of their bond and the consequences of testing it too sorely. When she received her permission however, unintended or not, she leapt to her feet with a motion that revealed but did not over-emphasize that this was still a graceful and beautiful Shuten Douji even if it was a boorish one. "Fufu~...As you wish Danna-sama."

The enormous club that leapt into her hand was somehow dwarfed by the presence of the immense toothy smile that denoted her barbaric glee... But only for a second. Fireworks on the horizon wiped the monstrosity from her features and replaced it with an almost childlike awe as the oversized kanabo swung wide. Fireworks meant a festival and a festival meant an end to boredom!

The garden lived to see another dawn as the gargantuan weapon was released to cut a cold iron path across the stars and towards the source of their earthly imitators. Shuten leapt after it, obliterating the floor beneath her feet with the immense strength of her take-off, catching up with and landing upon the airborn weapon with a catlike poise, a katana in her hand, and her jacket fluttering behind her like the cape of some cheesy superhero.

Fuyuki Park, at Mach Oni

Shuten made impact like a giggling cruise missile, the massive kanabo throwing up literal tonnes of earth and upending trees as it dug a sharp trench through the center of Fuyuki park. She didn't care, the sheer density of prana pouring off of her protected her from the ill effects of her own mischief and announced her presence in a miasma of sickening heat that permeated the massive dust cloud.

As it finally skidded to a stop a scarce few dozen yards away from the origin point of the fireworks she stepped off of her makeshift vessel with a pout but no further fanfare, or for that matter acknowledgement of the havoc she had wreaked. "Excuse me but What is the meaning of this? This isn't a festival... Isn't false advertising a crime punishable by death in this terribly boring era?" She asked the sole magus and servant in attendance with a voice full of confusion and disappointment but eyes full of something entirely more vicious and predatory.

All the effortless poise in her bearing, all the beauty of her flawless pale skin and round face, even the sweet scent that flowed off of her, even the horns that marked her as a monster despite those things, all of it was overshadowed by those blood thirsty eyes. They were so dominating that to all but the most astute observers they even masked that little pout transforming into a smile that matched them. "...I'll forgive you though, as long as you are fun. Fufufu." Even this Shuten Douji couldn't help but play with her food.

Maurius Oscuro
Miyama Town, Near the Waterfront

The man in the gray suit maintained a stony face despite the absurdity of his situation. This was not how things were supposed to be. The suitcase trailing behind him by the right hand, the briefcase in his left hand, the gucci purse dangling from his shoulder, he looked a mess. That wasn't the problem. Looking a little absurd in front of people he would never so much as exchange pleasantries with on the wrong side of the world for it to matter didn't even phase Maurius Oscuro.

The problem was the man trailing behind him, Caster, and it wasn't because he wasn't carrying the bags. Maurius would have never even asked for him to help with something so menial. No this was a much deeper problem, the sort that couldn't be solved without making more problems. What use was a legendary warrior to champion you in this battle royale if he swore to do no harm? Of course it was not in his nature to acknowledge a problem to anyone but himself until there was a solution ready to be deployed, and so he ruminated silently on the matter.

Almost silently, after several minutes he cleared his throat and spoke up. "Doctor, have you seen anywhere so far that suits your fancy? It would behoove us greatly to be settled in before the fall of night." He didn't look back and he didn't have a free hand to gesture towards the rows of buildings with, so a sort of jilted nod that paid too much mind to the weight of the purse on his shoulder had to suffice. "There is no need to choose a building that is vacant, I am sure we can reach an agreement with the owners regardless of their attachment to it." So just pick one already, for the love of god- he completed the thought to himself.

He cleared his throat again. "...Besides I'd love to see your capabilities firsthand. I'm getting pretty sore lugging all this around, a massage would be most welcome." And a drink too maybe- again to himself, but he had sworn to himself that he would keep his alcoholism at bay during this vacation. At the very least he sounded sincere enough, even enthusiastic, but a complaint of such low bearing levied towards a man of such magnitude was none the less as likely a barb as a real request. Maybe it was at this point, but his shoulder actually was getting sore so there was at least a modicum of sincerity.

Canal District - City of Science and Industry Building

Feeling her bounded field simply vanish without warning was terrifying, but the sudden and undignified loss of her limbs was so infuriating that it entirely overrode her rational and measured fear of what may be to come. As she slumped over onto her side the only thing Mirai could think, besides that she would kill whoever did this, was a vague thankfulness that the spreading puddle of tea from her dropped cup was running away from the hem of her yukata instead of towards it.

Then the order came and she strained to look up, towards her servant, to beg him for some kind of deliverance from this situation… Only to realize that he was no better off than her. She choked back tears of indignant and impotent fury and spoke “I cannot come out, you’ve taken my legs from me. Now! Come take whatever else you intend, I’ve no time to placate the fury of small minded zealots.

Canal District - City of Science and Industry Building

Mirai’s smile only broadened as she raised her tea to her well-painted lips, abating her joy to take a tiny dainty sip as not to ruin them. “Fortunate for you that it was me who came across you and not someone else. Where you may be dead otherwise I have already decided to ease your difficulties and make better use of your clearly good fortune. Speaking honestly, you have a strong servant, very likely the strongest in the entire war in fact, a blessing that could pass you by without doing you any good if you kept going as you were.

She took another sip before setting the tea down, and reaching beneath the little table to produce a scroll. “Wandering around in the open with a servant whose only means of defending you is to place its body between harm and yours is however a folly...” She unfurled the scroll across the table and held it open as she spoke, revealing something that looked not-quite like a map of paris,. a geomantic chart perhaps? That would certainly be in keeping with what was known about the Kurojishi family. “...and you’ve clearly not embraced the idea of war from the shadows given the way you so brazenly attacked your prey last night while everyone watched. The Holy Grail War is a battle of information first and foremost, and this is something that me and Caster are more than proficient in.” She gave the fox in her lap a little extra attention behind the ears, praising his work a little extra beyond her words.

An as of yet unseen pair of arms un-hid itself to pick her tea cup up again while the last of the six to be accounted for pointed to a spot on the map. “...But I had enough faith in your making the right choice that I spent the day planning around our assisting you and we’ve already discerned a good use of your strengths. You’ll send Berserker here, and from the safety of our workshop taste your first victory of many.

She paused for a moment, as if she heard something displeasing, and looked down into her lap. “...And in the meantime, we’ll secure our defenses here more thoroughly against interlopers. Caster there is a guest to be taken care of, please go and greet them while I ready myself to entertain.” She gestured to shoo him away, like the beloved lap pet he was.

Canal District - City of Science and Industry Building

Mirai observed the master of Berserker through his eyes, and then through his eyes through the eyes of his familiar. The command spell on the back of her hand had faded to a single stroke and Berserker was nowhere to be seen or felt. A cold smile stretched across her lips.

Caster, call off the Bakudan Brigade and have our stately little friend lead the way. Do not allow them to be followed.

Once the guests arrived at the core building, the giant sphere at the center of the museum complex, Mirai and her servant were of course ready to receive them. The presentation was rather modest all things considered, a simple low table and tea ready to be served, with two cushions- one for her and one for her guest. Caster needed no such accommodation, as his head had resumed its rightful place in her lap.

Of course the meeting was not unguarded, even if Caster could easily take care of any human magus in the blink of an eye he was to be expected to interrupt his relaxation for petty busywork that could be done through other means. Flanking the table were two stout karakuri that despite their stillness seemed entirely ready to spring into action, possessed of bow and spear in a classic japanese fashion that was old-timey and yet entirely timeless. Near the door itself were two more, these two brandishing a great axe nearly as big as the automaton holding it and a katana. A matched set, to pull at the nostalgia of someone in the room, though obviously not their guest.

With an all too genuine smile the master of the workshop broke the silence. “I apologize for the circumstances that have caused this meeting to occur. Seeing you so beyond your depth last night had me concerned that you might not be wise enough to cooperate, so I deemed it necessary to force your hand. Still I am overjoyed that you made the correct choice, please, have a seat, we have much to discuss about how we can best help each other.” One hand gestured to the seat across from Mirai while another began to pour the tea.
