Perhaps with another line of work, Errol Vahn would’ve been a picturesque spacer or colonist but unfortunately that is not how his life aligned. The mahogany-haired marksman’s body is littered with laser scarring, vibroblade gashes, and other noticeable scars that are the result of a war-driven life in addition to being a smug sarcastic asshole at the wrong time. Surprisingly, Errol’s face is generally unfazed with only minor knicks being apparent to the naked eye. Beyond this, Errol isn’t particularly tall or short (5’11”) and has a somewhat muscular and toned build due to his line of work.

Errol Vahn is not conventionally trained in the force, although he unknowingly has a connection to it.

Marksman: Errol Vahn has been shooting people since he was sixteen years old— and most often against more experienced and deadly opponents. His experiences in the Mandalorian Wars led him to becoming a quick and dangerous shot or face the early consequence of sweet sweet death. At thirty-nine, Errol is one of the most skilled snipers that survived the conflicts. These skills are not unique to blaster rifles and carbines, but also pistols.
Saboteur: Errol Vahn is a skilled saboteur, grenadier, and demolitionist. This is clear in his adept knowledge and familiarity with various charges used in explosives throughout the galaxy. Errol is comfortable whether a detonator utilizes ion, plasma, thorium, baradium, or other more esoteric and experimental options as its core.
Field Medic: Whilst hardly on the level of the Republic’s finest doctors and field surgeons, Errol knows what stims do what and how to apply a treat injury kit with little mistake. If there is one thing Errol has learned is that if you don’t know how to counteract a Mandalorian toxic dart on the fly you’re pretty much dead.
Stealth: Rule number one of being a sniper— if they can’t find you, they can’t kill you. Errol fought in several battles and on one occasion even outwitted a Mandalorian searching party on Dxun. He knows how to be quiet and make his shots.
Born to an interstellar businessman by the name of Miles Vahn, Errol was born & raised far from the core planets and instead upon one of the vast colonial frontiers. Errol’s father was an aggressive businessman who founded ErdeCo after liquidizing his properties as he believed that the only way to get in edgewise on major companies was to “put all of your cards on the table”. Laughed at by his former partners, Miles Vahn found himself desperate to make an impact on the galactic market that was colonial frontiers. As such Errol was born into a cosmic environment that was as underdeveloped as it was underpopulated. Growing up under the shadow of his father’s obsession to succeed in the galactic market was stressful as Errol found duties were being demanded of him straining the relationship with his parents even more.
A young Errol would spend time at his uncle’s home on the colony— a general agriculture procurement, Alen Vahn, lived much simpler with the only threat being the rare fauna that would get out of hand. Enjoying his uncle’s stories of Alderaan was entrancing for Errol and he would begin to almost live at the farm during these years. During this time his uncle would teach him how to fire a rifle and to impress his relative he would adamantly strive to be better; for every day he stayed at the farm he shot targets and mended the farm to help his uncle. However, Alen Vahn grew sick and passed on from age-related struggles by the time Errol was ten.
A year later, ErdeCo had expanded their operations into a local habitat of violent and fast creatures which resulted in an entire team of laborers to lose their lives due to ErdeCo’s carelessness. The family members of these laborers began to riot while other residents threatened to leave if ErdeCo didn’t get its operations in check. This threat against his livelihood caused Miles Vahn to “protect his investment” and hired Mandalorian mercenaries as “quality control”. This would begin the “dark times” of the colony as the mercenaries hired received benefits plus their rate of service and eventually the group began testing how much they were allowed to do without consequences. But Errol’s father only cared about the critical and financial success of his investments and took no shame into admitting it.
Eventually, Errol’s mother snapped. Errol never saw the colony again as he was taken away from its madness to find himself on another planetary hell: Nar Shaddaa. Errol would fall in with a bunch of other human youths who found themselves on Nar Shaddaa in poverty and among racism and thus a sort of gang was created amongst them. It wasn’t long thereafter that Errol and his friends got caught up into something stupid— an alien named Ardot Fek.
Running with Ardot Fek, a self-proclaimed “supplier” of goods led Errol into a life of organized crime. Fek saw cheap manpower in the youths as well as a useful utility in their knack to steal things. At first they weren’t asked to do much outside of pocket a few things or spot competitors (and law enforcement), but eventually as they became more useful (and older) they ended up “graduating” to carrying firearms as Fek’s under-priced guards. Errol found himself killing for the first time no more than a month after he was given a firearm— he was shaken by the experience, but Fek talked him down from his repulsion and convinced him it was only adrenaline that he felt and not any false moral consequences. Soon enough, Errol was making enough credits on the side to help keep himself and his mother afloat despite Fek underpaying him and the other youths.
By the time the first shots of the Mandalorian Wars were fired Errol had become an adept errand boy and enforcer for Fek; a comfortable agreement that lasted until Fek was shot dead by a bounty hunter named Calo Nord. This circumstance would lead Errol back into unemployment for a time, though despite this circumstance Errol refused to give up and started taking up jobs from whoever was hiring and being an overeager young man had its benefits to certain facets of Nar Shaddaa— especially to organizations like The Exchange.
But working for The Exchange and independent criminals on Nar Shaddaa wasn’t enough.
Eventually, Errol found himself brought into a network of non-mandalorian mercenaries; a brotherhood that worked closely with everyone from gangsters to senators, and given the outcry for help on outer rim worlds suffering at the claws of the Mandalorian invaders there was no shortage of supply and demand. In no time at all he would find himself and his fellow brotherhood members on the planet of Cathar and the rest is history— Errol Vahn fought the Mandalorians at every turn for the next decade-and-a-half of his life.
After the defeats of Malachor V and Coruscant, the galaxy found itself in pieces as it tried to repair itself from the damage. However, the Mandalorians weren’t done and neither was the Republic. But unfortunately, a need for a veteran mercenary wasn’t needed without a direct war to fight and in this time Errol turned to smuggling and smaller jobs that were created due to the repercussions of a war that nearly spanned two decades— people needed help and were willing to sell their last speeder for it. Errol tried not to capitalize on it, but he had his own purpose to meet just the same.
Ultimately, Errol found work through a very obscure enclave…
I mean she’s not really a bounty hunter like Graves is— she’s a collector of items. A procurer of wanted items for the #notblackmarket. She isn’t interested too much in killing people for the coin. ;)
I don't think a reincarnation with that long of a period is immersive less alone interesting to me. Ultimately, if you guys are saying she got sacrificed then I guess I should just rescind interest and focus my energy on other games.
As for your assertion of George R.R. Martin’s intentions with Shireen he has never publicly stated anything as far as I know and has been generally vague and cryptic to better ensure people don’t have false preconceptions. However, as a counterpoint I ask you this— Is letting the people who want to write and develop their POVs in their corner of Westeros really quibbling on the small details or just micromanaging every corner? I understand setting things up with a concrete purpose so I’m not even upset or disappointed, but I know what is fundamentally workable for me going forward.
tl;dr I have no desire playing a reincarnated Shireen nor do I have desire to play Edric Storm, so I will likely rescind interest and carry on. You guys have fun, I'll see you around. =)
None really? It was just an idea that came to my mind— the only other options would be minor characters and I will tell you frank I have no sub-plots in mind at this point in time. Given I am not involved at the moment I suppose my thoughts don’t have much precedence, but in a potential future would it not be more apt to collaborate with prospective players and build the world essentially together? This is not me questioning your decision, but just a question per my perspective.
With that said I already have solutions to the whole "who did she marry tho" and some loose ideas of how she'd run The Stormlands.
Also in the name of transparency I am pretty busy with RP's, but I would not have commented with this pitch had I had no inclinations or thoughts regarding a Shireen-led province.
Only current idea is for a Lady of the Stormlands, who by the time of the Dragon/Wolf's coronation was the last of her name. Pretty busy, but if the idea is inspired I might occasionally do stuff.
This would require us changing some things about The Stormlands, though. But if that is a no go, I'm not sure what I could want to do.
Lady Shireen of House Baratheon, Lord Lady Paramount of The Stormlands
