Nice, will there be a CS you'd like us to follow?

Eris should probably at least make an effort to teach the kid how to be subtle.

He made sure the groan that was coming up stayed in, albeit he couldn't stop himself from rubbing his temples. At least come up with a better excuse than that if you're teetering on whether to touch the skull or not! The funny part was that Eris himself had just as much enthusiasm touching the thing--he was eager to get things rolling and getting it over with, but seeing how unpredictable the challenges were made him very wary. There was a point in what he said, but he wasn't about to say that out loud. But there was a time and place for that sort of thing, and a much better way of phrasing it. Actually, no, the only scenario where anything would ever be okay was if Wells were Ismene, but even she knew better than that.

Shaking his head, Eris took a step forward, content with shoving the kid into the skull if he had to, though he stopped when Sunny reappeared and launched into an explanation. Aha, so they did have to fight one another's reflections. So that would leave Wells to fight Sunny, and for him to fight Varis. Hm, how would that work if him and Varis went in together, though? He didn't dwell on that too much as he noticed the coin, and suddenly it clicked. So each pairing had half a coin, of course! Two halves making a whole would probably qualify as a completion, which meant they all needed to go in.

Eris nodded to himself, flashing Wells a grin. "Well, would you look at that? Sunny came out right on cue!" He said cheerfully, deciding to hold Wells true to his word. "Now we know what'll happen and don't need to wait--you know exactly what to do. Go on and touch the skull, then." He gestured to it, keeping his cheery air about him.

The mage spoke to them, and Luna had to admit presenting her name in a riddle delighted her to no end. Another plant, what were the odds that all three of them had plant-based names? Absinthe and vermouth from a family of plants including wormwood, huh? She took a moment to think for a second, although she had a guess, face brightening up considerably.

"Ah, mugwort, sagebrushes, wormwood--the most common of which we have around is best known as artemisia absinthium, and those do have very small, yellow flowers on them. Your name is Artemisia? That's a lovely name as well!" She guessed. "Some say that the name originates from another, 'Artemis', and while its origins are uncertain, there is speculation that it has relation to the term Γ‘rktos, or 'bear', but this is mostly guesswork or coincidence."

At Artemisia's line of questioning, Luna's smile seemed painted on her face as she let out a nervous laugh, tucking some of her hair behind her ear. She supposed she did reveal a little too much about herself all at once. She would need to correct that behavior sooner than later; they had just met and already someone was able to correctly deduce that something was off about her. How troublesome! "W-Well...yes, I did grow up with more privilege than most, I admit," She said sheepishly, avoiding her gaze. "However, I...I feel that there is little I can accomplish surrounded by walls and books. To take action is the right course, and to travel effectively, one must join the guild. I wish only to help in every way I can, even if it means leaving the safety of my home." She frowned, looking at the forest. "I must be able to do something..."

She seemed to catch herself, waving her free hand around frantically. "But look at me, going on and on like a ninny," She laughed more genuinely. "Please, tell me more about yourselves! I admit in my sheltered life I have very little in terms of social circles."

Kagoshima? Wow, Mizuhana-san had quite the trip. Asuka nodded at her statement about trains, having no strong opinion about them. They were a hassle when crowded, but their convenience probably shouldn't be overlooked. Then again, Mizuhana-san seemed irritated at anything requiring having to interact with anyone at any time. That much Asuka could be sympathetic to; people did suck.

When asked about 'this', Asuka assumed she meant the moment. Truthfully, Asuka felt it was a little disappointing that they weren't jumping into learning about being heroes, but it was understandable. Most freshmen were probably overwhelmed having to be away from home and surrounded by strangers, so having some free time to get used to things was typical. After the time it took to hand out room assignments and watching her classmates interact one another, it was apparently a good call; some people were clearly out of their element.

Asuka followed Mizuhana diligently, offering a small shrug. "It is what it is. I'd love nothing more than to jump in, but..." She trailed off as she made a gesture to the other freshmen. "Well, not everyone's on the same page, sadly. You always have people straggling behind...at the very least it'll make for some decent entertainment." She laughed, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

Conversing with @Inkarnate

"Harun," Lakshmi repeated his name as if testing its sound. A simple name for a simple man. She said nothing more for a moment, but she seemed to like the sound of it. Her gaze searched his face after his question, though she lit up as she came to a decision.

"There is something of mine in the palace that requires liberating--a lamp that is mine," She told him frankly. "A snake by the name of Raul snatched it from its rightful place and seeks to besmirch...me." She seemed quite bitter as she spoke of the khedive, expression darkening considerably. "It's proof of my lineage, so to speak. Without it, I am unable to return to my home in the Isle of Aljana. Simply put, so long as it is in his possession, I have little choice but to follow his every order. I am utterly at his mercy."

Lakshmi gave a small sigh as she closed her eyes, letting the silence linger for a moment. Opening her eyes, she gave Harun a small smile, completely at ease. "That said, I don't expect your services for free, of course," She assured him. "Aside from fulfilling the very noble deed of rescuing a damsel in distress, I have every intention of paying you whatever you wish. These days there is much to be desired, wouldn't you agree? Be it riches or fame, I can give it to you. All you need to do is ask."

The change in scenery spooked Lilie, the girl jumping in place as she looked around with wide eyes. So this is why it smelled like the sea! She was starting to grow fond of the scent, but she had to focus. She gasped as she saw the creature, distracted for a second on how scary it looked while managing to still play the harp. Oh geez, this must have been the test of might the riddle talked about. Still, together she was sure they could...actually, Ben was blind and she had no weapon. Oh no, this wasn't looking good.

Moving to the side, she was surprised when it felt like a wall was stopping her from moving. What topped that was the back that she had no hands, or legs, or body, and she was somehow floating over the water--what was going on?! What were those things under her?! She could see Ben standing over there to her left, but she couldn't move to him. She gasped as she realized she could also see herself, eyes closed and unmoving. Was she dead?! No, no, she must have been asleep. As the thought crossed her mind, she couldn't help but groan to herself--so this is the 'faith paid off in sleep' the riddle talked about. She felt so cheated, this was so not cool!

"Count Benjamin--uh, Count Ben? Can you hear me?" Lilie tried to call out, feeling nervous. "I'm here, but I can't get to you or my body. What should I do?"

Varis had a point, it did take some time for Wells and him to complete their challenge. He also agreed that if any pairing should go together, it would be the two vampires. As much as he would have liked to see Wells' blossoming magic, this was probably the best way to go: he doubted either mage could take on two opponents at once at this moment. Or rather, he doubted either mage could take on two opponents at once while defending a vampire that'll not only critique every move but also judge heavily while contributing absolutely nothing. Sunny would get there someday, though, he was pretty sure of that.

Making up his mind, Eris nodded slowly, gesturing to the skull. "The sooner we get this done, the better," He said. They'll skirt by on an A-, get the hell out of the forest and not have to do anymore stupid challenges, and he wouldn't have to worry about not being able to see until it was a willing decision of his.

Right, then. "Go on, Wells, hopefully something changes," Eris said, stuffing his hands into his pockets. With their luck, he doubted it, but the sooner they finished, the better.

Rioting cabbages, how humorous! Luna was greatly amused by the little joke, unable to contain a giggle as she pictured the monsters as vegetables. On hearing the name, Luna's eyes widened, an odd shine to them as the knight introduced herself. Before she could respond, however, the dragoon--Mitra?--asked if she had any experience with her weapon. Luna deflated slightly, her jaw working as she wondered if she should admit her experience, or lack thereof. But what if she was asked to stay behind? Hiding it didn't seem right, either. What a conundrum.

Fortunately, the red mage--Blaike, yes she was sure of that one--spoke, taking the attention away from her. Luna returned his smile, looking back at Ianthe as he focused on Mitra. She put on a grin, absolutely ecstatic as she practically hopped along. "Your name is like the flower! How pretty!" Luna exclaimed without really thinking, immediately launching into an explanation. "Well, the word itself translates into 'a flower of purple color' and there are a few species of violet colored flowers that fall under that category, but it's better known as a species of butterfly: the Pseudoneptis bugandensis ianthe. Except, I never quite understood it because the butterfly seemed to be more a shade of indigo than a violet color? At least from the pictures I've seen in the library, but if I ever run into one while we are out here, I'd love nothing more than to properly discern its color."

At the very end, she fell silent as she looked around. She didn't think that they would see any while here if she was honest. Animals had a tendency to avoid the miasma, although whether it was instinct or the up-rise in fiends was up to debate. Poor creatures, having their home invaded.

She gasped as she realized she forgot to respond to the other half of Ianthe's statement, waving the bow around a touch. "Songs are my forte, believe it or not! I've played the harp since I could reach and pluck the strings. Mother said it was a dignified talent to learn," Luna swelled with pride as she spoke. "My tutors spent plenty of time teaching me archery as well, and I greatly enjoyed shooting while on horseback!"

Luna paused for a moment, deflating again as she looked downwards. "...although, I admit this would be the first time I've used both skills in conjunction..." She admitted sheepishly. "B-But I won't be a burden! I swear!"
