@Trevor1001 This GM post here doesn't give a specific year, but it makes it sound like it's occurring in the absolute present.
@PerseusArchean Sounds reasonable. The amount of "control" they'd have is being invisible to the sane, inducing nightmares and ecstasy/intoxication, but nothing greater. Just because someone is already made also doesn't mean they immediately worship Lycurgus either, just that they can see it and interact with it.

Also, in the IC posts can I make a request that we @/mention the users we're talking to so that they get a notification when a new post is submitted addressing them?
Jera, paying begrudging attention to Cythlla's entrance, wanted to pinch the bridge of her nose in frustration, but resisted the urge. All around her was noise and it was grating on her nerves, but she did her best to maintain her composure. She was no friend to the Merged, that much was obvious, as the lot of them were killing or subjugating their parents out of some sort of misplaced teen angst. It never ceased to amaze her how much more civil mortal man could be when dealing with their elders.
She waited for a pause in the conversation. There hadn't been much worth paying attention to, mostly the others worrying about the end times and reassuring each other, debating on whether they should intervene. She had no doubt that the irony of the situation was lost on them, where they were bickering like the gods they had slain. A self-fulfilling prophecy, she supposed.

"The mortals will be fine." She interjected, "They've been writing literature based around this scenario for centuries. Even the American CDC has plans in place to handle these situations!" Jera gestured over to David, "You've been around mortal man for at least two decades now, even you should know their most popular television series has this situation as a premise!"

"And you," She nodded begrudgingly to Ox, "This nonsense is right up your alley. Vampires? The undead? You're a necromancer and you're telling me you have no idea how to combat the risen dead?" She shook her head, "No matter what this is, this should be simple enough for any of us to handle. The obvious weakness is the brain or the spinal column."

Jera leant against a wall, "Now, let's think about what this could be for a moment; It's either the result of mortals messing around with rabies or the lyssavirus or they've somehow managed to circumvent death without the aid of magic. Now, raise your hands if you really think mortals could have managed that?!" She asked, looking around incredulously.

@PerseusArchean@ActRaiserTheReturned
@Cuccoruler, @PerseusArchean: What's the verdict on a Merged like Lycurgus?
@PerseusArchean Lovecraft and Chambers in a nutshell :P That's why I created Lycurgus to be more of a stationary deity whose power is exerted more through the power to influence others.
@PerseusArchean I would be genuinely surprised if Nyarlathotep even cared about the battle, let alone perished. He's typically more focused on appearing as an ancient pharoh, deceiving his cult followers with 'miracles' and plaguing the surrounding areas with nightmares, leaving nothing but chaos and destruction in his wake. If he were a D&D deity, he'd be Chaotic Evil.

He has at least twenty-two recorded avatars (Including Samael, the Angel of Death/Venom of God), each one typically worshipped as a different deity by a different cult. Technically, you could even consider Lycurgus as another avatar of Nyarlathotep. Nyarlathotep himself only has one parent, the Outer God Azathoth. He ultimately wouldn't care about the battle outside of the destruction and chaos wrought by the conflict.
@PerseusArchean I missed that. My bad. I would probably say the creature burrowed through the spine and into the darkness of the earth in that case.
@PerseusArchean Only if he's insane in some way, otherwise Lycurgus would be completely invisible to Ox.

we're going to need npcs in certain positions like a jailor for the deceased gods and imprisoned.

I also find it ironic that Hel is dead and imprisoned in the underworld.
Debating this second character. A work in progress that I may or may not use.

Appearance:
To those who can see it, Lycurgus is a monstrous creature, measuring over 200 feet in length and weighing over 300,000lbs. It is supported by eighteen human-like arms, each with two elbow joints instead of one, ending in twelve fingered hands. Each finger has eight joints/knuckles which are constantly flexing and bending in unnatural directions.
A human head hangs dangling by a seemingly single piece of flesh, as if struck from behind by an axe. Within the stump of the neck rests a serrated beak, with no eyes to speak of. It's elongated torso stretches back, ending abruptly with no hint of legs and the skin along its back has been flayed down the spine with the flesh hanging down its sides like a cape or a cloak, exposing a pale, insectile, chitinous endoskeleton beneath.

Name: Lycurgus

Gender: None/Intersex

Godly Parents: Dionysus, Nyarlathotep

Sphere of Control: Intoxication, Ritual Madness, Ecstasy, Cults, Subservience, Deceit, Imperceptibility, Nightmares.

Personality: Patient, wordless, observant.

Sacred Animal: None.

Powers:

Imperceptibility - Lycurgus can not be observed or even interacted with by the sane. It cannot be heard, seen or touched. It is invisible to the five senses. Those who do perceive its form are either driven mad or were already mad to begin with.

Induce Nightmares - Where Lycurgus resides, the surrounding area is plagued by horrific nightmares without end.

Induce intoxication and ecstasy - Those in its immediate presence, and especially those who worship Lycurgus, find themselves in a state of intoxication and ecstasy, as if on numerous substances while also experiencing the purest form of physical and sexual pleasure.

Miracles - To its worshippers, Lycurgus is able to perform unbelievable miracles. These miracles are a lie and merely an extension of Lycurgus' own natural abilities.

Cults - Due to Lycurgus' powers, many cults begin to arise to worship it. Nightmares are seen as blessings or attempts at communication and madness is cherished.

Weapon(s): States of intoxication, ecstasy and madness.

History:
Lycurgus was borne of an act of irony, whereby Nyarlathotep tainted a glass of ambrosia from which Dionysus drank, impregnating him with the creature. When the Greek god was slain, Lycurgus clawed its way free of the corpse and settled unperceived, amongst the greek ruins of the earth.
From there the creature grew to nightmarish size, gaining followers from the surrounding areas and isles, sending the surrounding areas into a state of debt and debauchery. Being the offspring of ancient, Outer Gods, Lycurgus knows nothing but patience. It will wait, consuming the sanity of its followers until all bow at mention of its name, whereupon it will awaken its brethren to devour the earth.

Other: Those who have seen it's form have described the creature as being incapable of communicating in any way other than the bubbling gurgles of a creature retching mixed with the sounds of a chorus of tortured screams.
@Cuccoruler I remember reading a similar concept that had the gods imprisoned in blocks of ice.
