Well, we are definitely starting the RP early next week. That I know for sure and was going to announce tomorrow. As for the people, including me and @Rockette who don't have characters up, we have 8. I only count the people who have approved characters thus far.
Tomorrow you'll get an official announcement regarding when the RP will start. To answer your question, I don't really have a hard limit because I designed this as a large group RP and I've run large casts before. I think anybody who has been waiting will be pleased by tomorrow's announcement though.
We will start off together in the IC, but there will be times we split into smaller groups.
Ah, interesting questions @Luminosity hehe. You're beginning to dig into the plot a bit, but I like the way you're thinking.
First, HP can only refill a few ways. You can be healed through magic, healed through potions, and healed when the party camps (or gets to a city). Nobody will have access to potions when we first begin as they will be introduced through narrative means. Camping will be a sort of regular thing as the party will be traveling the world eventually. Since this is the medieval era, it'll take some time to reach cities and things so there will be points where the group will camp in which case everyone's HP will be replenished fully. Because there is no combat in cities, entering a city and getting to an inn will also heal the HP of the character going to said. These are mechanics I'll explain just before we begin once this is closed down to new members because there's actually a free-roam mechanic involved.
This is the more interesting question and kind of digs into the plot a little; does magic poison the person who it is used on in addition to the person who used it? For this moment, I will say no it does not. Magical poisoning occurs when absorbing the energies from the air to mold and create the spell you want to create. Once formed, the spell itself will manifest whatever effect was intended. If it's to heal, it will heal, but it won't poison because the energy has already been formed and molded.
Could you show us an example of how 1 round of IC-combat would play out?
I think I understand the HP and Stamina point system, but I'm wondering how a simple "Player 1 attacks Troll. -10 HP" would look in realtime.
"Each battle post will decrease the left number by one unless the battle post is the character literally doing nothing"
Does that mean once our character reaches 0 stamina he/she should stop posting in the IC for the time being?
Once Stamina reaches 0--represented by 0/4 for example--you post with the mind frame that your character has reached a point of fatigue that would make them less effective in their attacks so it's probably better to be defensive or evasive for the time being (time being = two posts, after which your rating fully replenishes).
When I said "unless the character is doing literally nothing", I was saying that you don't have to lower the Stamina rating if your battle post does not have your character attack or defend. So when the group begins a battle with enemies, every post during that time is a battle post. If your post does not actually have your character attacking or defending however (evasive movement counts as defense too) then there is no reason to lower the stamina rating because they haven't done anything to warrant that.
Player Post 4/4 1000 HP <--- [HP is required at the top of every IC post. Stamina Rating is only required during battle posts]
"Player attacks Bandit A" ~ "Bandit A is damaged, but also manages a successful attack of his own"
Next post
3/4 950 HP
"Player attacks Bandit A" ~ "Bandit A is killed"
Next post
2/4 950 HP
"Bandit B attacks Player" ~ "Player defends, but low stamina rating causes damage anyway"
Next post
1/4 900 HP
"Player character is feeling the fatigue at this point" ~ "Bandit B attacks player while player tries to defend. They are not completely successful."
Next post
0/4 850 HP
"Player character is fatigued. They can still attack, but at their own peril." ~ "Bandit B uses critical strike"
Next post
0/4 350 HP
"Player character is saved from death thanks to choosing to wear heavy armor which granted them higher HP and protection"
Now keep in mind, battles will not be that cut and dry by a long shot, but that's the gist of it. The armor you chose for your characters has also given you a certain amount of HP. As they travel the world and encounter battles, certain enemies may have advantages over certain characters and vice versa. This battle system is one of the main things inspired by Dark Souls and the stamina bar it uses. Battles will not be unfair, but they will be difficult. Like I said in the OP, this system is merely a guideline to enforce the danger of the world and encourage you guys to keep your literary actions grounded and not anime-ish.
Okies, so this rp is gorgeous. Unfortunately, advanced is super intimidating for me. My posts are generally 400-500 some odd words, and my frequency is perhaps 3 times a week when I have the time. But I feel like I've been missing something in the rp's I've either done or been in. Would ya all mind if I joined?
I'd say this.
The only thing I asked for in the rules was a minimum of three paragraphs. Your frequency cannot be called an issue when I don't really know how the pace of the IC will roll (that depends on all the players and how often they feel like posting so it could be really fast or slow going). If you can hit the minimum of three paragraphs, I don't really see a problem. I said quality over quantity in that same section for a reason. Besides that, the only way to get comfortable in advanced is to write in it. Read the OP if you've not done so already and send me a character sheet via PM. There really is not a reason to flat out deny you based on what you said so you'll just be judged the same as everyone else; if your CS fits within the context of the universe and it's nice and thought out, I'll be glad to have you.
EDIT - I will also provide that example of the True Combat System @DOOM TEA. I didn't forget about you haha. I'll be home really soon.
The Enclave has ICC support though @agentmanatee. They send them tributes even. If it comes to that, The God Eaters would probably meet the only official army left in the world lol.
I mean... I don't think I was supposed to laugh at those letters. But I did. The Enclave is hilarious hahaha. This just tells me this group of characters are going to have an interesting time together lol.
Basically, how your characters react to the situation is up to you guys. You guys also have full control over the hit squads that are pursuing your individual characters. The only constant between everybody is that every squad is made up of four guys. Vee and Quinn have seven because it was two of them together in the same location.
