hi!! i found myself fairly interested in this rp and i have a first draft for a character ready. would love to hear anyones thoughts/criticisms on any part of her, but especially the spells that she has. i want to make sure theyre explained well, and that they dont cover too broad of a scope somehow

PERSONALITY: | Parin is cheerful and charismatic. She holds sympathy for people in similar spots to her, such as the poor or those who have suffered grave losses. While she has an easygoing exterior, on the inside she's secretly judging the other person. Not in a mean way, more that she's gauging their character and deciding her next moves based off of that. She doesn't let herself get too comfortable or feel safe very easily. If someone were to ask about her personal matters, they'd meet a wall. However, given enough time and they're shown Parin's blinding sense of loyalty. Once someone passes her tests, she's with them for life, and she would give them any sort of service they need. She loves to tease no matter her familiarity with the other party. She has thick skin. She wants to eat the rich for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She may seem outwardly greedy, especially due to her eagerness to squeeze as much money as she possibly can out of every situation, but it comes out of love for the orphanage. It's her way of giving back and servicing them. Parin is also great at masking her emotions, thanks to living a life of trickery and conniving. She naturally has a loud voice. Work smart, not hard, these are a few words that she lives by. | MAGIC: | Water Magic - One of the four basic elements-- a magic which allows the user to generate and take control over water. | SPELLS: SPELL LIST Water Walking - Supplementary - [name] focuses a steady stream of mana to her feet, which create a thin layer of water magic separating her feet from the ground. On solid ground, this masks her footsteps. This spell grants her the ability to walk on water, although it takes an increased (and fluctuating) amount of mana. At her current level she cannot use this spell to walk more than 5 feet across a body of water without having to take a swim. Healing Water - Healing - Parin has to first make contact with another living creature. Then, she uses her control of water to redirect the person's mana towards it's natural defenses -- she uses the water within the body to guide the mana. This takes a disproportionate amount of mana from her compared to how much it can heal. Part of that is due to her own lack of knowledge about the flow of mana within the human body. At her current level, she's too inefficient with how much water magic she's using, how much effort she moves it with, etc. As a result, she's limited to "healing" the area that she's touching (i.e. she cannot influence the flow of mana in someone's left wrist if shes touching their right thigh. she has to be touching the spot she wants to influence). General knowledge over the body's healing processes would help with the effectiveness of this ability, as it opens up more ways to help the body. In regards to wounds, she currently has the ability to relieve soreness and stop small, shallow cuts from bleeding. She can really only do one spot at a time without exhausting herself. If a body part isn't wounded, and simply has strain from use, she can use this spell to provide relief and return the body part back to equilibrium. She can't heal herself. She's never tried, and she doesn't bother to learn. (for now) ABILITIES & SKILLS: SKILL LIST Stealth - She's abnormally sneaky. It started off creeping out of view of Hari to grab an extra cookie (or 5). Then, she became expertly making her way out of the door. BLAH BLAH STEALTH sorry i need to do research on how i wanna describe her this looks rlly ugly rn Thievery - Parin is an excellent thief, especially for her age. Walking past her too slowly on the street could lead to your wallet getting snatched. Her skills come from constant testing, trying to scrounge whatever profits she can to give back to her orphanage. BLAH BLAH idk maybe more details Agility - She naturally moves around alot. She has a knack for idk describe her brand of agility :/ BLAH BLAHHHHHHHHHH GOALS & FEARS: | She wants to earn enough of a fortune to buy Hari a really, really big house. Besides that, consistently giving back to the orphanage in some way is what keeps her going. In general, though, she'd probably feel fulfilled if she could provide meaningful support for anyone. | | She feels lost, and honestly doesn't care much for her own well-being. "Providing" for the orphanage is one of the few things that gives her drive, a goal, focus in life. She doesn't know what to do for herself, or what she wants. She doesn't even consider herself as someone who deserves to have anyone care about what she wants. Her parents wouldn't have abandoned her otherwise. In her mind, any action has to be framed as benefitting someone else, or else she just doesn't have any drive to go about it. She has a fear of abandonment. And of her actions catching up to her; she's escaped so many of her escapades off dumb luck that she feels it's a matter of time. Nonetheless, whatever danger she puts herself in doesn't matter if it's for something as important to her as the orphanage. | .............................................................................	Parin hails from a long lineage of adventurers (rather, thrillseekers and treasure hunters). The Kia family has been said to have stolen some of the world’s most priceless gems, afterwards pawning them off to whoever’s willing to give up their prettiest penny. This, of course, is among other tales —like of the “countless demons” slain by her great-great grandfather with his use of light magic. Or others which detail her great-great-great grandmother’s pioneering when it comes to the applications of plant magic. She’s never been proud of her family, not even for a second. It’s not because they or she did anything—she’s simply never been able to. The Kia family, while once said to have a large, sprawling family tree, had undeniably been dwindling down in the recent years. This culminated into the last true surviving member of it being her mother. By the time of Parin’s birth, the legends of her family were nothing more than a distant memory. Despite that, her mother had still inherited the Kia family’s undying desire for adventure. As a result, she and her lover (Parin’s father) decided to go on their last adventure together, making a promise to themselves to come back for their daughter. They entrusted Parin to one of her mother’s closest friends. The friend in question just so happened to be in charge of an orphanage, which was the place where Parin was raised. They have yet to be heard from. Parin’s mother’s friend, Hari, has long since made the decision to never tell the girl her family's history unless she’d asked. Only the elderly would know her Kia name now, and even then there’d be little reason for them to bat an eye. Hari gladly risked being hated for hiding the truth if it meant Parin would be able to grow up free of any burdens. Although Parin would eventually at least find out what her parents are doing (and their most likely tragic fate), the truth about her family's "legacy" never mattered to her. She’d been in the orphanage practically since birth, so it’s all she knows. The other orphans didn’t have parents either, so it became something to bond over rather than a struggle. They felt united by what they didn’t have. The orphanage was a rough place to grow up, to be sure. It wasn’t in the richest area already, and having one (middle-aging) woman be the primary caregiver meant the orphans often had to just make do with what they had. But they would work together. The eldest of them would pick up chores such as cleaning or laundry, so that Hari could focus on being there and interacting with the children while she wasn’t trying to provide for them. Parin, having spent her whole life with Hari, always had a deep desire to help her. She noticed Hari’s worst struggles always happened to deal with money. So, she thought of ways to help out with the money, even as a young child. She started off as a typical beggar, and it would serve her well until she hit her preteen years. The older she got; the less people looked her way. She had no other choice but to stop trying to get other people to help her. She had to help herself. Stealing was the next step. When Parin was around 11 or 12 was when she’d begun practicing her sleight of hand. Even if she fumbled or ended up otherwise getting caught trying to snatch someone’s moneypouch, she would simply run away. The people didn’t tie it back to the orphanage because she never stole too close to the orphanage, and she was an orphan child in a large realm. Nobody knew who she was anyways. She always wore a cloak to hide her appearance, and she'd switch them out so as to keep people off her trail. Along with that, she'd always take atleast one day off before heading back out. Her constant trial and error lead to her learning her area like the back of her hand; she’d needed to if she wanted an edge up on the adults. Hari would always show suspicion and dismay, especially when Parin had especially good days/nights out, but Parin never paid it any mind. She was always careful enough not to get too caught up, and only became more careful as she grew older. And either way, the kids needed the money more. They always did. When it was time to receive her grimoire, Parin didn’t really care. It was Hari who was ecstatic. She couldn’t wait to see what Parin would have, what magic she would develop and how she’d use it. Parin had seen other orphans gain some crazy magic in her days, and they had all immediately changed their lives and become Magic Knights. Parin knew that even if she did somehow end up taking that same path, she’d always have the end goal of giving back to the orphanage in mind. After recieving her grimoire, and discovering that her affinity lied with water magic, it was Hari who had urged Parin to become a Magic Knight. For if she were a Magic Knight, she’d able to take jobs for money and do good deeds for others (which, Parin thought, lead to money aswell). Hari didn't tell her, but her main reason was wanting Parin to have a chance to find herself and do something for her own sake for once. Not for Hari, and not for the kids. Either way she began training and studying her magic immediately. It was what Hari wanted, so it was urgent. Even though she wants to become a Magic Knight, she still holds her value of supporting the orphanage above everything else. So, she’s still stealing. And lying. And swindling! It’s for the kids, you know.

PERSONALITY: | Tristan often comes across as rather dour and stoic. He isn't exactly broody, but certainly quiet. Often he doesn't seem to know what to do with his hands, and defaults to holding them still by crossing his arms, putting his hands in his pockets, etc. Give him anything minutely crafty, however--a ball of clay, paper and pencil, etc--and he'll soon show signs of a creative and inquisitive mind. The strongest opinions he has are all related to craftsmanship; most other things, he couldn't care less. That said, he has a kind heart and strong community values, having grown up in one of those kinds of villages where everyone knows everyone. | MAGIC: | Sword Magic: A magic that allows the user to create swords out of their mana. Further mana manipulation can be accomplished through using the blades as a focus, and more advanced spells imbue certain qualities into the swords themselves. Once given shape, the swords can be stored in the user's grimoire. At a certain level of control, they can be manipulated telekinetically. | SPELLS: SPELL LIST Create Sword - Creation - A sword made by condensing magic into an imitation of real steel. The user can shape the sword however they wish, but the less practical the design the less functional it will be. At Tristan's current level, it's roughly equivalent to a cheap iron blade. Azure Edge - Reinforcement, Offense - Tristan channels mana into a sword (technically it could work with other weapons too) which gives it a blue aura. The concentrated energy runs circuits around the blade's edge, greatly increasing its cutting ability. Spin Slash - Offensive - Tristan charges mana into his blade, then releases it with a violent spinning strike. It produces a shockwave capable of knocking enemies backwards all around him, though the range only extends a short distance beyond the tip of the sword. ABILITIES & SKILLS: SKILL LIST Amateur Swordsman - Tristan has never stepped foot in a proper training hall, but for the last six months he's practiced what little he could learn in preparation for the exam. If nothing else, he's figured out the basic cuts, a few blocks, and has a theoretical understanding of parry and riposte. Strength - Being a blacksmith's son is hard work, and so is working the fields, chopping firewood, and any other number of chores commoners must do on a daily basis. Even without a real workout regimen, Tristan is surprisingly sturdy for someone of his age and size. Analytical Mind - He's one of those types that can look at things, model them in his head, and figure out how they work. Working with his father has allowed him to see how various bits of farm equipment are put together, he's helped with a few barn-raisings over the years, and he was the best at math among all the grubby students in the village schoolhouse. Given time, especially if he gets his actual hands on something, he could probably figure out how it was made or deduce its function. GOALS & FEARS: | He wants to at least make Senior Magic Knight before he retires, though he has no delusions of being a Captain or much less the Wizard King. He just wants to send enough money back home to support his family...and maybe one day open his own workshop in the royal capital. | | He worries that he isn't ambitious enough; that nothing he does is of real, enduring value; that his life is somehow pointless because all he wants is to do the same thing his father does, and his father before him, and so on. He constantly compares himself to others who are more driven and goal-oriented and feels a deep sense of inferiority. | .............................................................................	The Goffe family are a small bunch. Father, Mother, Tristan, his older sister, and his younger brother. But going back several generations, they have lived in the same village, working the same forge. They fix plowshares, sharpen axes, make hammers and nails...and, every so often, a spear or a sword. Not exactly master crafts, but enough to get a local guardsman or occasional mercenary along. A little magic helps the process along here and there--Tristan's grandfather had fire magic used to stoke the bellows, and his grandmother's earth magic is probably what influenced his father's iron magic--but by and large it all comes down to elbow grease and skill. Tristan had never imagined the possibility of being a Magic Knight. Oh sure, as a kid he played knights and devils with the other brats, and the braver boys sometimes went on little excursions through the forests. But, the way his father taught him to swing a hammer, and pedal a grindstone, and polish, polish, polish until he couldn't feel his hands anymore...it turned into an appreciation for the gleaming metal he held up afterward. And seeing the thankful face of a farmer whose pitchfork or hoe he'd made, or the smile of a toothless old woman whose soup pot he fixed, was a good enough reward for him. Then he received his grimoire. He'd wondered if it would be something fire related like his grandfather, or if his mother's wood magic would be passed down instead--he could still use it to help make handles and tool shafts. Instead, the book that came to him sprouted a sword's hilt from its pages. "Hey, Tristan got Sword Magic! Isn't that kinda rare?!" "They say the Anti-Magic King had different kinds of swords in his grimoire too--do ya think they can cut through other magic?" "He's got to be a magic knight now, huh? What better use is there for magic like that?" He didn't feel the same connection between the blade in his hands, and the ones he'd forged with hammers and tongs. The swords he made with his meager mana couldn't last forever. For being a "rare" magic, it sure didn't actually seem all that powerful or versatile. But it was true that swords had no real use except to fight. Maybe...maybe he could give it a try. If he failed, then oh well, he could just go back to the village, and the forge...

In generations past, there was a great gap between the commoners and the nobility of the Clover Kingdom. Those who were "beloved by Mana" believed themselves superior. But the Anti-Magic King and those who fought alongside him overturned all that. Again and again, they proved that even those of common birth--even someone without a single drop of Mana--could surpass their limits! To them, the true magic was "Never giving up!"

To some, this is unacceptable.

Trouble has begun to brew once more within the Clover. The Elves of Elysia have begun to repopulate, stirring old grudges from long ago. The borders of Heart, Diamond, and Spade still experience tensions and skirmishes. Devil Cults have appeared, twisting the Anti-Magic King's deeds to justify evil acts. But, there is another, more worrisome conflict that continues to grow day by day...

This conflict has caused a schism throughout all the Clover Kingdom's society. Even within the very Magic Knights sworn to protect that society! A movement has arisen that wishes to overthrow the Monarchy and the Nobility; they claim that they wish for new government, and new opportunities for all people. Even those who do not follow this movement have become split into different factions. Some wish to deal with them harshly and maintain the status quo. They are secure in the superiority of their magical power and their bloodlines. Others believe in compromise. Still some seek to uphold the rule of law and order rather than allow an anarchic rebellion.

But soon, the hand of fate shall be dealt. Will the Clover change suits? Perhaps you will be the one to make the play...

Welcome to Black Clover: Fool's Arcana! If you're not familiar with the anime/manga, this is a fantasy setting in which a roughly medieval world is gifted with Magic. A mage reaches their full potential through a Grimoire. No two mages are exactly alike, even if they share elemental alignments like Fire or Water. The strongest magicians aim to become Magic Knights and protect the Clover Kingdom!

In this RP, you'll take the role of potential Magic Knight Recruits. You have journeyed to take the Magic Knights Entrance Exam! As your magical ability grows and you are sent out on missions to prove yourself, you'll come into conflict with the various parties mentioned above--from simple bandits to political revolutionaries. In the end, you'll have to decide what you stand for, and who you'll support. Will you become a pillar that upholds the justice of the Clover Kingdom? Or will you topple those same columns to bring it all crashing down?

No matter your goal, the only spell that will bring success is "Never giving up!" Surpass your limits--Right here, right now!

With that said, here's how I'll be running this RP:

• Emphasis on combat and narrative

  I like fight scenes, and this is a battle shonen after all. In Black Clover especially, there's a lot of emphasis on team battles. There'll be Monsters, Bandits, Rogue Mages, maybe even Devils! By and large it will all be PvE.
• Character Progression

  Players will start with up to 3 Spells and 3 Skills (Think swordsmanship, keen intellect, etc) and "unlock" more as the story progresses. If I think a Player should realistically be running low on Mana after casting a lot of spells, or something of that nature, it'll usually be pointed out in the narrative. And although we're meant to grow stronger as the game goes on, remember to make an interesting story and be fair to other players!
• Missions and Plot Events

  As Magic Knights, Players will be taking on "Missions," oftentimes in groups. Accomplishments on these missions will see the players promoted through the ranks of their squad. Some missions will build up the overall plot, others not so much. At certain milestones, Plot Events will occur, advancing the story and causing ripple effects in the game's world.
• NPC Interaction

  Because the Magic Knights have Captains, and of course we'll be working our way through a variety of enemies, Players will encounter a large cast of NPCs over the course of the game. Some will appear quite powerful at first, but it's entirely possible--preferred, even--that our characters will eventually surpass them! How Players deal with them will determine the outcomes of their own personal arcs, which may influence the plot.

Xyxis came into existence when humans developed Abstract Thought: of ideas beyond surviving, and when questions rose beyond "how am I going to survive?"

Who am I? When Numas touches someone, they call call these questions to ring strong and true through someone's mind. For some, it may have no adverse effect. For others, it may call their position into question, or even begin an existential crisis.
Why am I here? Beyond their own identity, it calls their allegiances into question, their beliefs, their choices. This may lead to isolation or paranoia in the target.
What is my purpose?

What is my purpose?

This questions their entire being. It forces them to confront what they do from day to day, to confront the position they have and the choices they make. It could bring everything they've worked for into question, then it could bring it all tumbling down. Depending on the being, this question could reveal doors they've never recognized, or force them into a mental breakdown.

Forming part of the wider Xeno metaseries, Xenosaga is set in a science fiction universe and follows a group of characters as they face both a hostile alien race called the Gnosis and human factions fighting for control of the Zohar, an artifact connected to a god-like energy called U-DO. Gameplay across the series is similar, with the characters being guided through a linear narrative and fighting enemies using a turn-based combat system. The party fights both on foot and in a variety of mechs. Tetsuya Takahashi created Xenosaga as a spiritual successor to the Square-produced Xenogears, for which he founded Monolith Soft with help from Namco; multiple Xenogears staff returned, including co-writer Soraya Saga. Following the release of the first game, the Xenosaga series was given over to new staff with Takahashi both supervising the project and providing the draft scripts. Under the new staff, the original script saw several changes and its planned six-part structure cut down by half. The series made considerable use of Biblical imagery and elements of the works of Carl Jung and Friedrich Nietzsche, with the subtitles of the main trilogy drawing from the works of Nietzsche. Corruption:

Being exposed to Darkstone and the horrific creatures of darkness can cause normal folk to mutate. Most hero can carry a maximum of 4 corruption damage before they receive a Mutation. When this happens the corruption is reset back to 0 and the hero gains a permanent trait.

> Mutations: These can be beneficial or detrimental. They are permanent traits gained from exposure to eldritch energy such as darkstone or monsters. Determination can be spent as usual when rolling on the Mutation table.

XP:

Your experience level, aka how close you are to levelling up and becoming more powerful.

Determination:

Each point of determination allows you to reroll any one dice. This has a myriad of applications - feel free to ask if you can reroll something.

Terra Magica 1

GM (Hellis)'s Foreword; This setting is my baby, but I have long ago begun kicking it around. Feel free to toss me any kind of relevant input and help create the world it takes place in. I love Player input! The setting is more a post-post-apocalypse, in that humanity at least have some semblance of hope and is on the upswing. This is about the exploration of a post magical-apocalyptic America and the rise of a city, and the people (you) who make it possible.

TERRA MAGICA

The Fall.

In the year of 2050, Earth faced a possible extinction level event. The sudden appearance of a giant celestial body blinked into existence right outside of our atmosphere, sending a chock wave that displaced and destroyed most if not all satellites we had in orbit. To this day, nobody can tell how such a thing could possibly happen. And then it begun to crash down towards earth. What first was believed to be a giant meteor turned out to be something else. The massive thing was alive and the size of a small city. And then it shattered and rained down onto the earth as a hail of massive crystalline meteors. They punched down into the earth, piecing down to the crust in some places and causing massive eruptions of lava and earthquakes that reached a 10 on the richter scale. In other places, they hit the ocean causing sent massive Tsunamis across our coastlines. And their effects were not limited to normal physical phenoms. The crystals drastically affected the areas around them. First came the kinetic shock waves of their impact that leveled everything in a radius of several hundred miles. But, what came afterward was very unexpected.

Instead of sweeping our planet in giant clouds of dust and ash, the giant crystals that were now embedded into our planet warped the areas around them. In the Amazons, the crystals warped the wildlife and fauna, hyper charged and mutated it into something more fit of myth then reality, and on the plains of Texas, giant beasts were suddenly roaming, the oilfields lost to violent, revolting fauna. The oceans filled with sea serpents and other creatures of myth that turned our navys into scrap metal and made traveling by a sea a nightmare. And in the Northern hemisphere some places were flash frozen with ice that do not melt, entire cities swallowed by overnight glaciers. It had caused eruptions and punched deep enough, it appeared to absorb the heat and spawn a series of strange creatures. Some of them capable of breathing fire, others being permanently aflame yet undisturbed by it.

All across the world, mankind lost to the new world that was created before them. Eradicated by the natural phenomenons and the powerful new creatures that roamed our earth.

On the West Coast, where there once existed a city called San Fransisco. Rising from its ruins is the small township of Ambrosia. A hub for West coast survivors, they grow and thrive as best as one can in a world that actively seeks to end you. Enter the protagonists of our tale. A group of ragtag post-fall citizens and vagabonds. People born into this unforgiving world whom never knew the luxuries of Pre-Fall comforts. Men and women who are dedicated to make a name for themselves and carve humanity a place in the new order of things.

Magic and Technology: A new Frontier.

Humanity is resilient and masters of adaptation. We weren't entirely wiped out after all, it takes more then alien crystals and magic to undo several millennial of technology and perseverance. Those of us who survived banded together, we huddled up and hunkered down. We adapted and technology became our shepherd. With our population decimated several times over however, there was no shortage of jobs, and the rebuilding would have to take quite a while. In the this new, hostile world, a lot of resources became scarce as there were no longer any functioning companies mining or drilling for them, not mention entire areas of the world would need to be remapped. Our satellites were all destroyed by the strange celestial body that that appeared in our sky at the events beginning, destroying our means of communication.

However, humanity was also gifted with new talents. Some call it magic, other call it etheral manipulation. Basked in the light of the crystals, some humans find themselves capable of tapping into the crystals energies. However, doing so tend to have side effects. Such as spontaneously combust or turning into a tree. Indeed, the average rate of survival for a person tapping directly into the flow of a crystal is less then 2 percent. And those two percent are all insane and liable to join the other 98 percent should they slip up even the slightest. However, as time moved on, scientists discovered ways to harness the 'magic' of the this strange new ore. Using only small fragments of the crystals, mined from clusters that could be found in the wild, one could harness the energy in different forms. We also found that different crystals possessed different elemental properties or different magical attributes. A crystal that harnessed fire for its magic might be used to heat something, while some of the ones that acted almost as if they were lightning in a bottle made for powerful batteries. And as such, the basis of a new industry and a new field of science was discovered.

Decades later, we have managed to incorporate it into vehicles, guns and armor as well as everyday appliances such as ovens and power stations. Magitech as the common folk dubbed it, has its many uses. A rifle can use a kinetic crystal to punch bullets with pure kinetic force, with no need for gunpowder, others use them to move heavy objects out of the way. Fire crystals are used to heat pretty much the entirety of Easts Coasts biggest settlement: Ambrosia. Icecrystals are used for freezers. In general, we have grown completely reliant on the magical crystals.

Those who embrace the crystal; Mages

As mentioned, there is another use of said shards. Some people, considered by many as insane, have heralded the magical shards as a living material and tries to harness the power directly. Handling raw shards is extremely dangerous and the powerful feeling is extremely addictive. People consumed by the addiction are called Shard Heads. Many describe the allure of Magic as a "song". Scientists speculate that this song is in fact vibrations in the "magical spectrum" that stimulate usually dormant parts of the mind.

There is however some people who appears to have mastered the crystals influence better then others. Most of them belong to a sect or religion of some sort who teaches discipline and mental resilience needed to stave of the addiction and its effects. People have, quite naturally, began to refer to them as Mages. Most prominent of these sects is the "Crystalline Pledge" who wield a considerable amount of political clout in smaller, less well armed settlements.

Mages are viewed upon with great suspicion, because they are still ticking time bombs as far as any normal person could tell. It should also be noted that Mages focus on a single shard. That they keep with them at all times as to not split their focus and efforts. Instead they refine their use and power bit by bit to maximize the effects. Where a shard head would just surge himself full of power and use it up in one go, a shard in the possession of a mage lasts for months, even years.

Consequences of Magic: Mythical Beasts and Mutants

Magic changed the world, most notably for the worse. The beasts that have spawned as result of rampant magic range from more mundane things such as rabbits with spiked carapaces to giant, flying dragons. These beasts are not all hostile, many are herbivores, and there is a working ecosystem at play. But many of them are much more dangerous then their Pre-Fall brethren. Many have unique defenses such as emitting blinding light or spitting flesh melting acid. Others have incorporated crystals into their forms and can somehow wield magic, such a horses with burning manes and hooves or snakes that can bury underground with the help of a earth crystal.

Not all humans are unchanged either. Some have noticeable defects, such as oddly colored eyes that shine in the dark. These "mutants" are more attuned to magic naturally, but will also easier fall to its influence. Many mutants, especially ones with more obvious mutations such as the glow in dark eyes, are hugely discriminated against. Being a mutant is not without its fringe benefits however. Some have magically attuned senses. These Mutants are referred to as Seers. A Seer can spot weak spots in spells, magical beasts and magitech, making them exellent hunters, magi-tech engineers and Mages. A Seer must be careful however, they are very succeptible to the "song" of a powerfull crystal.

The New Order; How we rose from the ashes.

"You know why it is called Ambrosia? Because we survived Armageddon and are now drinking the nectar of gods. A whole new world, free of the pollution and shit. We get to start over man. How cool is that?!"

With our governments all but gone, the splintering into new factions was a fact. New religions sprung up and old ones changed to accommodate the new reality. Townships formed by survivors act dependently without a central governing body and old city ruins became split between different factions.

Certain factions managed to preserve the old worlds technology with varied degrees of success. These would be the ones who also managed to save the most people, forming cities in the ruins of the old. Advanced technology fused with the new technology of the crystals allows them to fight back the encroaching monsters and shield themselves against the strange new weather and phenomenons. Some have even begun the undertaking of recolonizing the planet. A slow, painful process full of danger. Old maps can no longer be referred to and nature itself is wrought with danger like never before. These zones became known as “Safe Havens” by travelers, and act like a form of budding City states in the new world.

One of these is Ambrosia, a city state on the northern West Coast of what was once the United Stated. Situated in the ruins of San Fransico, not a lot of the old cityscape has been left in a state that can be considered 'whole'. The surrounding are all One of the biggest crystal formations can be seen far off in the distance, a jagged peek of shimmering red where Los Angeles used to be. Nothing remains of Los Angeles. Not Hollywood, not south central. The kinetic wave was enough eradicate most of it, the earthquakes and shattering of LA's entire structure subsurface dealt with the rest. Ambrosia stands as a beacon for human perseverance however. Led by a council of military and scientific experts, they have managed to fight back the worst and is constantly pushing for expansion. The new, lush wilderness might be deadly, but the soil has proven immensely fertile. It has become a trading hub of sorts as well, connecting most of the west coast towns together by commerce. However, Ambrosia by itself only reach just above 50.000 citizens where San Francisco once boosted over 5 million. That's how massive a loss the region has suffered.

Ambrosia as a city looks like something of extremely well off shanty town. Due to the nature of things, there is a lot of materials to build from but little organization in the building itself. Old houses has been rebuilt and patched up, not always to the prettiest of appearances. Farms have been established, and makeshift industries have sprouted from the reclaiming of world. Outside the City, some pioneers have set up a water distillation plant using water magic. It should be noted that a natural effect of humanity once more being “the fledgling species” in a world that seems to actively strive to eradicate it, weapons are common place on most people. Magitech powered melee weapons such as thunder powered spears and more conventional things such as small arms both have their place.

Ambrosia: The biggest settlement around, a trading hub for all of the West Coast. Currently run by a council of five, led by ”Prime Minister” Thomas Melbourne, who's family founded Ambrosia.

Aqua Tower: A large, crystalline spire jutting out of the sea, four miles off the coast. Primary source for water crystals. Mining around it is extremely dangerous as the water is teeming with hostile fauna. The minings is done with nonmagical charges such as tnt, then waiting for the violent inland streams to bring it a more salvagble position closer to the coast.

The Great Red Peak. A massive crystal formation in what used to be Northen Los Angeles. The play is bereft of any human life, the ruins of the city completely overun by beasts. The Great peak istself is believed to be made out of pure fire crystals, making it the single most coveted mining area on the West coast. Sadly, its riddled with different kinds of beasts and dangers.

Alberta Station: A small settlement that has been growing quickly the past four years. Sustained by being a waystation to many western travelers heading for Ambrosia, they have recently laid claim to a old goldmine that now has lightning crystals in abundance. Mayor: Isaac Goldstein.

Junction Point: A now dead settlement, it was the place of a terrible massacre at the hand of ”The Clan”. Before, it had been a bustling settlement that mainly worked as a outpost for The Hunters Guild. Its downfall is what spurred the ADF to start actively hunting the raiders. Junction Point lays barren and desolate, and is a place few visit.

Mories Fort: A fort built about halfway between the Red Peak and Ambrosia, ADF garrisons it to keep a eye out for Fire elementals and other nasties that might come from the former LA area. Morries fort has proven itself instrumental in the ongoing project of building a supply chain towards Great Red Peaks future mining projects.

Time line of events;

BF/AF (Before/After the Fall event)
Year 0 (2050): The event, world goes dark as all sattelites are wiped out. Earth is pelted with a ran of crystal death for several days. The crystals warp the world, waking magic and creating entire new biomes and breaking the laws of physics. Science baffled, world falls into ruin as weather and beasts destroy everything.

AF 3: Ambrosia rises from San Fransiscos ashes. Starts as a small community, locked in a territorial struggle with organized looters.

AF 5: Ambrosia keeps gathering refugees, a army cashe is discovered and helps Ambrosia to establish a well armed militia. Looters getting fewer and less organized. The hostile new world is eating them up.

AF 10 years; Ambrosia starts to erect proper walls around the core hub of the settlement. Reaching two 2 thusand survivors. Farmlands getting some serius overhaul. Domestication of large oxen like animals called Bay Bisons by the locals.

AF; 20 Years; 10 000 citizens reached, about 3000 of those are born after the events. The rest are refugees that gotten to Ambrosia from their own scattered towns. Beast tamers are hard at work, trying to domesticate the different docile beasts that traverse the nearby land. Expansion starts, heavy losses as coventional arms can only take you so far.

25; Magitech is starting to become more commonplace, more agressive expansions take place. A part of the old San Fransisco bay is reclaimed. Water pumps are set up, giving the safehaven a functioning water supply again.

34; Ambrosia reaches 30 thusand citizens. Spread out in several districts in the old San Fransisico ruins. Connected by roades traversed by magitech propelled vehicles. Ambrosia people are ariving in droves from all over, flocking to the west coasts biggest safe haven.

40; Hunters bring down a thunder bird, marking the first ever of the killing of the legendary beast that terrorized them. Rapid expansions take place, bolstered by the knowledge that humanity can strike back again.

52; Rise of The Clan. Raiders grow more well armed and organized. The Settlement of Junction Point is sacked and destroyed down to the very last shack. A massive surge in armed guards and militias spring up as a result. The Ambrosian Defense Force begin to expand operation outwards from the city to help quell the Raider activity.

Game Mechanics and Clarifications.

For this RP, I have decided to implement a few mechanics as a GM that will help me add to the RP in a dynamic way. I have provided some tidbits on each.;

Archtype provides the specialization of your character. Is he a adventurer or a monster hunter? IS he a mage or engineer. I have Provided you with Five different ones that give you a basic limitations. Such as Mage being unable to have any skills related Magitech (But instead having access to 'spells'). After you pick the arch type, you may specify your actual profession(Subtype): Combat Mage, Geomancer, Mercenary etc to further make it more your own.

Archtypes

Skill growth.
A characters skills will grow under the course of this game, and to make this simple for me as a GM; I will abstract things a a bit. After specific objectives are completed, or missions undertaken to satisfactory effect, I as a GM will reward you with points to spend in both skills and attributes. You will also be able to spend a point to acquire a new skill when this happens, as to broaden your skill repertoire.

Weapon Categories

There are a few categories to keep in mind when you look at weaponry.

Magitech; The wonder of the new world, magictech utilize the magic of shards to different effect. A fire crystal can give you a safer, more reliable version of a flamethrower. Or it can coat your blade in white hot flames. A spear might be given the extra punch of a thousand volts of electricity gathered at its tip.

Coventional: Conventional arms is the old world tech that relies on reliable things such as gunpowder, bullets and trigger discipline. While a lot of information was obviously lost in the fall and its massive decimation of the population, there is still a surplus of weapons for those that can find them. And the knowledge of how to construct them is not all lost either.

Simple; Simple weapons are anything that's none mechanical; Swords, Bows, Spears etc

Explosives; What the TNT box says. Explosives and bombs. While there are bound to be explosive stockpiles somewhere, you might want to be careful approaching those.

Magic and You

With the advent of Magitech, there are numerous uses for the crystals. One of the main ones is for fuel, either by steam engines using fire and water crystals or electric engines using lightning crystals. Machinery, both industrial or commercial exist that makes use of it. The machines that are cutting a swathe out of the new, very dense, Californian forest are mainly powered by magic.

For military purposes, people have experimented with incorporating crystals into armor. But so far the results have been quite subpar.

Mages vs Magitech

As covered before, there is a trick to using magic. One who uses raw magic has to be dedicated to it, and in complete control of himself. These magic users are rare simply because it is difficult and risky without any proper benefit compared to using Magitech. A Mage cannot use magitech weapons as their crystals would interfere with their connection to their own crystal. It is for this reason that the Mage archtype cannot be mixed up. You cannot 'dabble' in magic. As a handler of raw magic, it needs to be your life. That is not to say a mage cannot use a knife, or have survival skills. Your main skill has to be the magic, and your other skills will take a back seat somewhat. Not that a Mutant is better at handling the crystal, but more likely to become a shard head.

Meanwhile, Magi-tech is reliably safe, but entirely dependent on technology to corral it. Weapons can be lost, broken or otherwise incapacitated. Not to mention Magic enhanced Armors still takes hits and the crystal could go critical.

The main component for any sort of magic is the mysterious, crystalline ore. For common folk, they are simply referred to as Crystals. The power of a crystal varies depending on its size and purity. Most of it mined from clusters that can be found in different minor impact zones where the magic hasn't turned everything into a nightmare of beasts and overgrowth. However, the closer the location of a major impact zone such as LA, the more powerful the cluster you can mine.

Depending on the area said cluster is found in, you get different types of magic. Crystal Clusters growing partially in water tend to be harnessing water for its magic. The magic is as varied as there is physical laws to defy it seems. Every element is represented: air, water, fire, earth. But also external forces such as Kinetic energy, electricity, magnetism. Not even time and space is entirely safe as there is known to be crystals that lets you speed yourself up or slow others.

A crystal is not infinite in power however. They hold a spark of sorts, that machines and mages draw upon to use magic. That is why, after a time they turn into a dull grey. One can however, recharge a crystal by leaving it a element of your choosing for a extended time. Depending on the element of the crystal its charging speed is different. Putting a crystal in a lightning rod per example is a great way to get electromagic. Where water magic take a long time to regain its spark. On the other hand, Electric magic depletes the fastest, and water the slowest.

Ambrosia has no shortage of water based magic crystals due its place at the coast. Being in the same state as the LA Impact zone, but far away enough to not be completely overwhelmed by its magic, they also have crystals of decent size and purity.

Ambrosian Defence Force: One of the largest settlements on the West Coast, it hosts considerable military capabilities within its walls. Led by Colonel Melinda Cho, they have been making excursions out west to try and root out the worst of the Raider camps.

The Crystalline Pledge: One of the few "Religions" to crop out of the Fall without being completely insane. Preaching understanding and the acceptance of Mages, they do a lot of charity work, lending out Mages to those to poor to build proper magi-tech equipment. They also rehabilitate and attempt to turn Shardheads into proper Mages. The result vary.

Hunters Guild: Spread across pretty much all of the coast and even into the more hostile Mid West, Hunters Guild employ trackers and pathfinders with experience in hunting the new and dangerous fauna. Started somewhere around Ambrosias founding, the men and women of the Guild are some of the grittiest, most nonsensical people you will ever meet. They risk life and limb exterminating beasts for outposts and forward settlements while making a decent coin selling the beasts to researchers and craftsmen.

The Clan: A raider group that given Ambrosian cargo trains some trouble over the years. The Clan consist of a odd hundred raiders of various levels of notoriety. They adhere to a ultra violent and brutal system for their internal hierarchy. The Clans current leader is "Kain Redeyes", a magically attuned, charismatic brute.

Ambrosian Crystal Foundation: Crystal Miners. Large company that specializise in mining crystal clusters and cutting shards for Magitech use. They employ a odd 400 hundred people across town and double that all across the West coast as they run most of the raw crystal trade by legal means. They are pretty much vital to the existence of Ambrosia.

Jorgens Engineering and Innovation: Weapon and General Magi-Tech manufacturers. Jorgen was a old timer who knew opportunity when he saw it. He employed a bunch of engineers that all make and maintain magi-tech armaments for the city aswell as private clients. Now dead, his two daughters Marie and Elizabeth run the company and have become the foremost Magi-Tech providers in the region.

Harley's Armaments: Weapon Manufacturers. Specified in non mage-tech, old school weaponry and conventional firearms. Harley is known as shrewd businessman and have employed more then a few thugs to get her way in the past. But Harley is a local patriot, and see Ambrosia as her home nad its citizens as her brothers and sisters. Many scavengers do business with her, selling her pre-Fall weaponry that she then restores. Due to her many contacts outside city limits she has become a essential part of Ambrosian politics.

The Brave Frontier:
A Engineering and Building firm, known for their work with the infrastructure of the city. Rich as creosote due to being there from the start. They were the ones to build and reinforce the city walls among many other things. They often send men and women out with the caravans to help build up new settlements along the way.

West Coast Peacekeepers: The Arbiters are the police of the wastes. Employing men and women of staunch, political and ideological bedrock. These men and women are positioned to aid deputy's and sheriffs in smaller settlements as well as being tasked with keeping the order in Ambrosia.

Yellow Vests: A mercenary organization led by "The Jarl", it consists mainly of men and women who with a background as either ADF or the WCP and similar high discipline organizations. They mainly lend out their men and women for caravan guard duty but have been known to handle VIP protection and guarding private interests.

Dangers of a new world

Mythical Beasts: There are creatures out there, that has no place existing. These beasts vary in sizes and danger, but some, like the great Sea Serpents, are seemingly impossible to deal with. Many of them are imbued with magi, such as the Lightning Stag that posses horns crusted with small lightning gems. These beasts and creatures are the main source of income for many a adventurous hunter.

Raiders: Not everyone integrate into society, there are more then a few groups that live by the principle that stealing and plundering is the way to go.

Shard Walkers: One of the most grizzly things to come as a result of the Fall, is the Shard Walkers. Shambling, incoherent corpses riddled with all manners of shards, these beings are no more human then any other beast. It uncertain what exactly made them that way, but they radiate strong magical currents and react to magic around them. They are capable of magic on a instinctive, reflexive level and will counter any spell or magi-tech weapon leveled against them.

Ether Storms: Massive, violent storms sometimes blow in from the sea. These bring with them small, minuscule shards of crystal that gather in the clouds and unleash strange weather phenomena such as lightning storms that spawns lightning elementals or huge chunks of ice falling from the sky on otherwise clear summer day.

writing was the first form of creative expression i ever tried, so it's always gonna be dear to me. i've been roleplaying since i was a kid, and i actually started on this website!! i've tried other sites but idk... the types of writers that come here and the things they do just feel special in a way that's not the same on other forum-based websites.

my roleplaying preferences are fantasy, any setting with magic tbh and i'm there. i LOOOOVEEE rhythm games especially, but i was raised on everything video game-related (my favs r sotc, the tales of series, and kh2). ofc i love music too, i also make music!! im drawing again recently and getting into making models aswell, ummmm and anime/manga is a big interest of mine since childhood, rn im reading sakamoto days and chainsaw man and rewatching inuyasha/cardcaptor sakura :3
