That's a shame because I'm going to write up a bunch of fantasy mushrooms used in dwarf cuisine. Tanya's missing out.
When I GM the Mines of Kranak, I figure it'd be more fun for me to describe items based on whether or not a character would know what they are IC.
I guess it's the difference between me saying "You found a chunk of mysterious ore. It probably has special properties." and "X recognizes this ore as common, nonmagical iron."

So while we're waiting on those next posts, can I get a quick rundown of what everyone's likely to know about, based on their histories and occupation? It will save time rather than having me ask you last minute.

Off the top of my head, I'm especially considering stuff in relation to

-Geology
-Smithing
-History (Dwarven)
-Mythology (Dwarven)
-Culinary Arts (Dwarven)
-Wildlife (tundra/mountain climates)
-Mycology
"...The Hell are you?" Vincent asked, shouldering his gun. The executioner had expected something colossal, with tentacles and forty endlessly screaming mouths, not some twink in a mask. Still, it was floating, had crystals encircling its back, and its feet were on fire. Moreover, the fire was green. There was no way it was human.

Still, Ciel had said it was giving off strong energy signatures, so it was best to test the waters. Vincent aimed down the sights, and experimentally shot a single round of 7.62 at the thing's leg.
True to his word, Al caught the Hundi monk in his arms, a neat bridal carry. The girl's light weight didn't even phase him or cause his legs to buck. He gave a brief smile, then set her on the floor, preparing for the next member to drop down.
"Nice~" Al said, squatting over the edge. The pit smelled weird, but it was basically safe.
The paladin called for rope, but that was silly. Al had no patience for rappelling. Also he didn't have a grappling hook. The warrior elected to hop down the hole, digging his bare fingers into the rock and soil forming the wall. This alone slowed his descent, until he hit the ground with a loud, echoing thud. The lantern tied to his belt now provided a second point of illumination, alongside the torch burning on the ground next to him.

"Alright, the rest of you guys hop down and I'll catch you! It's the express route!" he called up, holding out his arms.
The monster should remain a surprise from as many people as possible.
Unrelated: who are we still waiting on to post? Just Rin, right?
Name: Mines of Kranak

Brief History: A long-abandoned mine that was once prized by the Dwarves for its rich ores. Recently, new veins of extremely rare materials were discovered, prompting an operation to resume mining immediately.
However, several mining teams have disappeared due to some unknown monster prowling the tunnels. Under normal circumstances, dwarven soldiers would clear out their own mines, but most of the local forces have been dispatched to route a monster infestation at the northern borders, necessitating that they get help from the outside (that's you guys)
It's imperative that the mines are cleared out quickly, as the resources are immensely valuable, and an unattended mine is ripe for thievery. In exchange for your services, the Dwarves are offering two sets of mithril armor to the party's specification as a reward- a small fortune.

Layout Summary: The entrance to the mine is located near the top of a remote mountain, and getting there is a perilous trek on its own.
The mine itself is a labyrinth filled with old mining equipment and smelters to create ingots of the materials within. Despite being decades or even centuries old, most of the equipment is still functional. Besides mining equipment, there are also living quarters due to the long periods of time miners would work here, containing beds, various facilities for entertainment, books pertaining mostly to practical crafts but also dwarven history and mythology, and even a functional tavern with casks of ale.
Valuable ores lie deep within the tunnels, but getting there and back is a fool's task without careful usage of navigational tools.
Interestingly, experiments with bioluminescent mushrooms have resulted in a type of lantern that doesn't produce smoke and makes light indefinitely; these are scattered along the walls of the mine, providing a surprising amount of light.

Threats(Enemies, Traps, etc): The trek up the side of the mountain will take approximately two days. Blistering winds and extreme cold demands that adventurers haul heavy clothing, rations, tents, and even firewood, as very little is available. Beyond the climate, hostile wildlife also prowls the mountainside, from wolves to bears and even worse.
Lastly, a lone monster is stalking the mine itself. Though little is known about it, it's dangerous enough to take down dwarven mining teams, strong men used to dealing with cave-ins and skirmishes with kobolds.
Hmm, what is it? I might be able to help out.

Nah, I think I've got it figured out. I'll have it posted shortly.
"She didn't show me any magic if that's what you're waiting for." Vincent's voice crackled over the radio as he walked through the courtyard. "In fact, I found out very little about the Ifrit. When I get a chance I'll talk to exotic ballistics about something that might be effective against him, but for now, the tactic is literally just 'kill all his guys at once'. Astounding, right?"

He picked up his pace and began to run as he got word of a strong enemy nearby. "Worse news, through. Ciel, I need you to do me a personal favor. If what that girl told me is true, there's been an info leak. That monster got a hold of my personal files, and you know I don't legally exist. Try and pull up a list of whoever has access to my data and cross reference it with everyone who isn't in mission control with you. If she's right, you'll find a trail to someplace called Yotsuba corporation or something. And this goes without saying, but for fuck's sake, don't get caught looking into this. Anyone stealing info on super soldiers can't be up to anything good; they won't hesitate putting you in a hole."

Vincent stopped, in time to see a crate parachuting down in front of him. His care package. Prying it open with his hands, he retrieved a set of basic weapons, an M240L machine gun, a S&W 500, and a specialized bowie knife with a taser system built into the spine of the blade. Granted, if the enemy was half as strong as Ciel suggested, it would necessitate the use of more specialized weapons from the drop system, but it was best to call in a specific one as situation demanded. Besides, this way he could keep it a surprise.

The executioner donned his mask, and quickly dashed to the destination.
